As somone who's spent the last 2 years on a neurological medical rollercoaster, I am so glad you picked Kate! Having a diagnosis (no matter how sucky) is like winning the lottery. Winning the makeover, though, is just about joy and ease and being able to breathe. I wish her all the love and health in the world. ok that was corny and overly dramatic but I'm a Swiftie, that's just who we are.
Not corny or overly dramatic at all....nuthin' but the truth! ♥ And I agree with you. 😊
nothing wrong with being caring and loving. i think we all recognize how this make over is a move forward in her life. 🌸❤️
If that's corny, then this world could use a lot more corny!
Love this! Wishing you all the love and health in the world as well❤️🙏
That was in no way corny that was actually very touching and very sweet and very thoughtful to say. And wishing you all the health and happiness in the world as well. ❤❤❤❤
"I would have worn a bra for this call" - A RELATABLE QUEEN!!!
So relatable!!!
She still looked amazing.
Looks OK but not ladylike 😉

Thumbs Up Petition to put a little door in the rattan so kitty can still get to the cozy warm radiator!
I was thinking the same!
I was just thinking Olive can't go in anymore.😢
Yes!!, ... and the rattan isn't straight 😔
Need a place for Olives cat things and a door under the bench for her to hide. The room looks comfy and alive, warm cozy
Definitely need a kitty door into the space under the reading nook!
Also, I’m a bit concerned about the leather couch with the cat. Hopefully that works! I definitely would like to see a cat tree with somewhere that’s ok for the cat to scratch! I saw an adorable one that someone DIYed with giant multicolor flower cushions for the cats to sit on. Might be a bit too whimsical for this vibe, but I’m sure Graham could come up with something nice and fun!
We are so thrilled that our Cane Webbing brought a smile to Kate's face. Thank you Alexandra Gater and the AG Team, for featuring our family business, HH Perkins, in this fantastic four-part makeover series! This video brought tears to our eyes. Knowing that Kate will have a brand new Sisterhood of the Traveling Apartment warms our hearts. We are so happy that we could help make a difference for someone who truly deserves it. The AG team did a phenomenal job, and your channel is genuinely inspiring! Thank you for including us in such a wonderful project!
Do you ship to the Yucatan?😅
As a woodworker daughter, having Graham tell us that he bought a biscuit joiner (and, of course, the fact that he annouced it means he's excited) makes me sooooo happy lol
The makeover also looks amazing, as always, of course
he deserves a biscuit joiner!!
a biscuit joiner for $60....i am SHOOK!!!!!
I don’t get to use it too often, so I was so excited to show it off 😂
She consults with the clients as to what they want. She literally asked what colors she would be apposed to. If the client didn’t want pink I’m sure she would have said. When she does your home you can ask for any color you want. 😁
@@Handymangraham I think u replied to the wrong comment 🥲
I am someone with MS… It took me ELEVEN years to get my diagnosis right. I started Crying when I saw that someone went through something similar (even though it fortunately just 6 months for her) but a situation like this makes you question everything you believe in. Kate, if you ever read this, I can tell you that this year I celebrated my 18 year MS anniversary and I decided to start my biggest project ever (my own culinary school, I’m a chef) and I can tell you that you will live a full and wonderful life even though this disease makes it harder. I wish for you all the blessings and beatiful times. Mariana, from Mexico.
🥰🙏🙏🙏
I lost a brother to this terrible disease, after 22 years into this sickness. Thank you very much for your message, it meant a lot.
Wish you a happy, long and fulfilled life, may you win this tough battle and God bless!!
I had MS for about 10 years before a doctor finally connected the dots. (Waaaay back in 1998) I was going through a marriage breakup at the same time. Kate, if you are reading this, know that you are NOT alone. Know that it isn't the end of your world. Life changes, as it should. And we adapt and change with it. You have an amazing friend in your Katie, and AG and Team are going to look after you too. You will have challenges, but keep this mantra in mind: "I may have MS but it doesn't have me". And then go live your life! In your 'new' beautiful apartment, which Alexandra will make sure of. You are in great hands!!!
My dad had multiple sclerosis, so when you said you were doing this makeover for someone who was recently diagnosed with MS, I nearly burst into tears. How generous of you all to help someone so deserving.
My best friend has MS she had hard a few months ago and to learn how to walk again it's hard when it's someone close to you
I think the friend who advocated for Kate is one of the loveliest young women I have ever seen. What a marvelous gift. I wish I had someone like that in my life when I was younger. I've had to just suck it up and deal with everything and it's just so hurtful and exhausting.
So true!!
"hold fast" (1 Thess 5 :21)
I can see why you picked this apartment to makeover! What wonderful friends she has!! Best of luck to her!!
Great job! As a radiator nerd I do want to say that for optimal heating an intake slit at the bottom of the cover for cold air and an exit slit at the top for hot air helps. Since warm air rises the cold intake air moves up as it is heated and the slit allows it to exit, causing air to circulate through the room and be evenly heated. A door with cane is a good start but leaving an additional slit at the top and bottom can help ensure air moves across the radiator rather than heat just radiating out from the radiator. It is also important for the top of the radiator cover to be a few inches above the radiator itself so there is room for air to flow.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Apartments! What? Made this 79 year young lady giggle. I love you and your team. It gives me joy and touches my heart to see the fun things that you do. I also enjoy the fact that you are genuine and casual. There are sophisticated designers online and also in Toronto, but nobody tickles me the way you do. Keep up the good work. Keep making fun videos for neighbors to the South of you to watch. Absolutely whimsical and fun.
Wow! I want to thank you for choosing Kate. As someone that has MS, I can tell you that your combined compassion will change her life forever. I might also suggest an umbrella stand for her cane. 🤩
I am convinced you all have angelic qualities. Thank you for being kind. The world needs more souls like yours.
Keep going! ☮️🌹❤️
Please what's MS ? Thanks and wish you the Best.

Great suggestion!
MS is Multiple Sclerosis. It is incredibly difficult. The assistance Alexandra and her team has provided is literally life saving.
Love Kate's story and the apartment's story. When she said she felt like the apartment deserved this it made me cry. It does seem like the apartment has a heart and that it has held all the friends in it's arms for a time while they each needed it. Can't wait to see the next episode.
I really like the living room makeover. However, I think you've missed an opportunity to design a space that will help someone with MS. Part of this is probably due to the fact that even Kate, who is at the beginning of her MS journey, doesn't realize what she may need. My first thought was that the carpet edges should probably be taped down somehow with a double-sided tape. That way, when Kate is tired and maybe not picking her feet up very high, she won't catch her toes on the edge of the carpet and trip. I didn't think of this until you brought in that beautiful cane chair, but the majority of the furniture in her apartment should sit up higher, making it easier for Kate to sit down and stand up. I have a degenerative muscle disease. I was diagnosed at the end of 2019, but I started having symptoms around 2015. And I still struggle to make choices in furnishings that will accommodate me as my illness progresses, so I imagine that Kate will struggle to know what she will need going forward. I don't know how far ahead you shoot your videos, so this advice might be too late, but I suggest you contact an MS organization or someone who has expertise in outfitting homes for people with disabilities. It would be awesome to see design meet the needs of someone with a disability.
Yes, I agree. While aesthetically pleasing, the loose rug, low seating ( esp. With the plethora of pillows), vertical stacked book shelf, and fold down cane screens, might not be practical or safe for Kate, depending on how the MS manifests. A quick consult with an occupational therapist (before proceeding further) would give Alexandra valuable insights/ guidance how to decorate to accommodate in this situation. ❤
@jenneke2 I didn't even think of the books, and I own lots of books! And this is exactly what I mean about not knowing what you'll need as a person with a progressive disability, or any disability for that matter. I'm losing the use of my hands, my fine motor skills are shot, and I didn't even think of how difficult it would be to pull a book off of those type of stacking shelves. 🤦♀️ That's why I think the AGT should work with someone who specializes in making a home accessible. I like your idea about consulting with an OT.
@@whimsy339an AGT series making over apartments stylish and accessible would be awesome! (including kitteh needs, too.)
I was already thinking about the difficulties of that vertical bookshelf - didn’t even think about how that could potentially be more difficult with MS. The idea of working with an OT therapist if they do a video like this again is a really good one, and I hope they take that advice constructively
My favorite part of the Alexandra Grater videos is the moments we see the crew and get brief glimpses into their personality. It gives me great joy to see them laugh and have fun together.
I have MS and this touched me. I pushed the doctors as well. I was only 14 and got dismissed as having a middle ear infection. I'm so proud of you, Kate 💘
I’m so glad you got a diagnosis ❤ thank you for sharing.
That "don't look at me" clip was hysterical😂
As someone who's primary disability is Tumefactive MS, a rare form of Multiple Sclerosis, I'm glad you chose her apartment to makeover. 🧡
I don't think in all of the reveals you have done o er the years, that any of them made me cry. This one made me cry TWICE! First when the friend nominated her traveling apartment friend for the makeover, revealing her diagnosis with MS (hit very close to home, took me over 20 years to get diagnosied properly 😥) and then you tearing up at the end. I have been watching your videos since before you started your own channel, and you have elevated your company into something both special and remarkable. I have learned a lot from you so that I can make my own place (a rental) into something I am proud of and something the landlord is happy with. Cannot wait to see the rest of this apartment take flight. God bless you and your staff ❤
As someone living with MS, I have to say, this looks really friendly for times when soft pretty comfortable surroundigs are needed. Hopfuly Kate won’t need it! And it’s beautiful as always!
it sounds like you picked the perfect person to do the remake for! 🌸❤️
imo tv placement is high for the sofa, and those bookshelves seem impractical. otherwise lovely design as always! really like the lamp and taupe for the bay window wall.
You guys did such a wonderful job! Thanks for creating such a special space for my illustration of Kate and our friends
Super talented, you are!
Kate was such a perfect choice for this makeover, and not because we share real life names ( I go by Kate as well). I know how much this will mean to her because I suffer from a chronic disorder (I acknowledge hers is a disease and much different), so I understand how difficult it is to make things like this happen for yourself. God bless her friend who nominated her for this, and God bless Alexandra and her team for taking it on! With all that said, the design is gorgeous, exactly what I would have personally wanted for my space in that configuration. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the rest! Also kudos to the landlord for allowing the changes so far.
Have been watching your vids on RUclips for a few years now as it has a bigger screen overall than watching on Instagram. I am elderly now but I was an interior decorator in Australia for some time so get much pleasure from your beautiful creations. Can’t wait for your next one!
Seems like it would have made more sense to attach the cane covers on the front of the window seat completely magnetically. Having to lower them on the hinge means they'll be on the floor and you'll have to kneel on them should you ever need to access anything. The caning will probably get damaged.
This makeover is full of heart and soul. From the backstory about the health struggles and the "Traveling Apartment" to the Team AG care of the design and makeover. The room turned out beautiful.
As a mom of young adults, your journey "is giving me" (as you kids say) vicarious maternal pride. Keep going!
You go mom! 🫶🏻😏 you get the lingo👏🏻 its giving🤌🏻 amazing mom vibes!
😆🫶🏼
Kate, I’m glad you finally got a diagnosis. I too have been dealing with a chronic illness, and it took me a long time to get a diagnosis, which was Lyme disease, now in a chronic state. I mention this, as research has found that many MS patients really have Lyme disease. I suggest you get tested for Lyme disease as well as talk to a medical Lyme specialist. Also, know that the 2-Lyme tests are only about 40% accurate, and that Lyme is to be diagnosed by symptoms, (per CDC, -& who as of a week or 2 ago finally acknowledged Lyme and some other conditions as being able to have a “chronic” state). Anyway, Lyme is not diagnosed by those two tests that are available, (bit if their results are positive, that will work), but you really have to find a medical Lyme specialist, as most doctors, even infectious disease doctors, are not educated on Lyme, and especially not educated on its chronic state, or that diagnosing this particular condition is by “symptoms”. Good luck on your health recovery journey!
MS is hard and shows in people in different ways, sending strength to your friend!
Would have liked to see how you tackled the power for the TV, since she stated that's why it was always in the corner where the outlet is.
I guess they added a longer cable & rerouted it for her.
As a long-standing subscriber, you never cease to amaze me with your talent. Your relationship with each other is so entertaining and heart warming. People working together and enjoying their job is rare. I love when you do a series of the same home or apartment. Thank you.
Love you Alexandra - A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with MS - you have such a sweet, big heart - and you know the power of the living environment - it makes a huge difference. Thank you for being you and for you creative talent.
My favorite little thing about this channel is when James makes his subtle book recs. He’s got the best taste!
the bay window is such a dream and the cushion is so perfect!
i love the pinkish taupe color and the rattan doors but my cat would immediately trash them 😅 especially if she doesnt get her own cat tree for scratching
Wow! Beautiful story and what a true space for rest and healing. Diagnosed with MS in 2020, so this one brought on all the tears. Powerful stuff team AG! Thank you for bringing the beauty in! 🧡
It takes a village! I love your team -- they're the perfect additions to your awesome design skills. You're all hella adorable!
As a PwMS, I’m soo glad she was diagnosed & can access what she needs. The relief she must feel! Stress is the biggest cause of flare ups, so having a diagnosis, this apartment & winning a makeover is FANTASTIC!! 🎉
I am in Toronto, today, and I emailed you because I soooooo wanted to meet you. But of course you have thousands of viewers who would like to meet you... I'm from LA, a 70-yr-old grandmother, and I LOVE all of your work and your team members' work. 'Such a unique and pleasing style!
My grandmother and cousin had MS. I loved seeing you and your team doing this for someone who has been diagnosed with it. Having friends who advocate for you is such a beautiful thing. I loved everything about this video. ❤
This story reminded me of my little sister so much she’s always had health issues and always getting dismissed. And my mom has struggled so much and she’s such a trooper she never gave up and advocated and still continues to do so for my sister. She was finally diagnosed with MS two years ago.
It turned out so cute! I think it's just missing a cute little kitty condo or tree.
they missed opportunity to make Olive something cute , and they blocked her access to the radiator.
You've chosen the perfect winner and you always make things look great. However, much like your good self, the majority of interior design shows don't allow enough space to store ALL the books for someone who says they read (not ebooks) a lot. While it's different for everyone, when someone says they're a big reader, please, please fit in proper floor to ceiling bookcases when you can. As you can see, her inspiration photo has solid floor to ceiling bookcases which are both sturdier, and will allow for more books to be stored. The bookshelves you've chosen will be a challenge for someone who has a disability that usually progresses. The location you've chosen is perfect for the books. Great job with the colours and the custom green cushion.
I actually cried!!! I’m so excited for Kate, my fellow MSWarrior! You deserve it all!
Team AG - you are awesome!!! ❤
So very beautiful. I live with a neuro-degenerative disease also (it took me years to stop hiding that fact, btw). Anyway, I just love everything- the jewel tones, the layout of furniture- every design change. Gratitude. Lisa Mackres
The living room looks so much better! My only question/concern is that you only put the one floor lamp in the room. What kind of lighting does she have for the reading nook? The window are fine during the day, but without some sort of good lighting she won't be able to use the nook for reading at night.
it would have been really cute with some sconces on the walls or a pendant light above the window seat!
I just noticed that there are two lights in the ceiling in the window area. You see them when Alexandra is standing on the window bench before the cushion goes in.
Kate is so deserving of this makeover!! I applaud her strength and wish her the best of luck in all of her future adventures ❤ you did amazing as always Alexandra 😊 you really are such an inspiration
I live with multiple sclerosis for several years now and Im sending Kate lots of strength and hope she gets well. The living room looks beautiful! ❤
Great job everyone. I especially love the windowseat cushion. I love how the cane chair looks and ties into the radiator cover. If the cat has claws, I don't recommend leather or cane, though. I wish you highlighted the interesting recessed area of the wall to add character and spotlight the group photo. Maybe paint in the darker paint color? I can't wait to see the rest of the apartment! I hope you do more of these whole house redos. That lamp and rug were great, too. Would like to see the cat's needs addressed, as some viewers commented. TFS
The custom green cushion in the window was the bomb, otherwise, the rest was pretty blah, especially the beige paint! I think you could have warmed the place up more just by using darker woods and brighter accent colors.
Beautiful design! It would be cool to see you incorporate pet products into your design. Like a cat bed in the window seat or a cat tree somewhere.
100% this! As someone living in an apartment with two huge Maine Coons, everything in my space has to factor them in - what they’ll destroy (my 10kg leaping ginger lion Harvey is a powerful force! 😹), what might be dangerous for them etc. Plus since they don’t go outside I need to make sure their needs are met inside for climbing/stretching/scratching etc*, and since they’re such big cats everything for them also needs to be big - much more difficult to fit around cute decor! With just one normal sized cat that maybe isn’t as young and boisterous as mine, it’s probably a lot easier 😅
* …not least because if I don’t then they’ll make use of whatever they find in whatever way they see fit! Before I got the floor-to-ceiling climbing/scratching/bird-watching tower in my living room last Xmas they were obsessed with jumping onto the headrest on the back of my desk chair because it was a higher-up spot to perch on and survey their territory from - super cute when they were kittens, but big heavy cats suddenly leaping up while in Zoom meetings is both disruptive (but hilarious) and also is doing a real number on that chair!
James continuing the caulking sound effect never fails to make me smile! And Graham’s skills never fail to amaze me. I think I need to move to Toronto so I can make use of the amazing team AG!
What an absolutely amazing team you are. One of my dearest friends has been living with MS for many years, the meds she takes makes it possible for her to stay somewhat active, but having a space that is safe, attractive and comfortable makes all the difference in her daily life. What you have done and are doing will make Kate’s daily journey with MS a much more comforting experience. TEAM AG ROCKS!
You know when they say that something or someone is in the 'flow'... ALL of this was such a flow! From the Sisterhood of the Travelling Apartment, to you getting emotional, to the adorable AG team (including James with his cute and fun editing) and OMG that amazing design - all was beautiful, caring and it all clicked together. Wow. Flow. Loved this so much!! 💖
The only problem I see with the doors on the built in going down instead of up I think it might be awkward for her to place items in there (because the doors are in the way). If they were going up then she might be able to have small drawers on wheels which would be easier for her to use, especially when her ability to stoop down becomes a problem. But I love the doors and I think I’ll steal that idea when I redo my kitchen cabinets. Very pretty -Susan
That end table of stacking stools is brilliant!
What a difference, it went from dark and uninviting to light, bright and so pretty. Great job everyone, it looks fabulous.
The stools in that small side table can also be used for small tables for a drink or something when people are sitting on the window seat! I like that.
The makeovers just keep getting better and better 🙌🏾
Love the Stools!!!!! :) and Reading Nook and the re framed friend art!! Great job Everyone💜
That's so beautiful! I am chronically ill and to be able to get a makeover would be so so incredible!
What an inspiring space and incredible people! You couldn’t have chosen a more deserving person, friend, apartment… sisterhood deserves to be celebrated!
I love the green custom cushion. I think I would have gone with the neutral carpet, but I notice that you like lots of color. It always looks good! Good job!
it's been said before but imma say it again: Graham is one beautiful, beautiful man with endless skills and talent. And pretty hair.
and a biscuit joiner!!
Before displaying a static art image on a television screen, it's important to identify the type of panel the TV uses. For many modern TVs, having a static image on screen for extended periods of time is actually harmful for the display and will lead to image retention.
Wow, good point. I thought screen burn in was an older thing. There must be screensavers that rotate images?
@@FurnitureFan It was an old thing! Funny how history repeats itself, but yeah some newer panels can also suffer from this.
IMHO, paint the bathroom, add a few storage items and a shelf or something. It deserves your love too.

Wow! A longtime fan of your work and channel... and my jaw continues to drop! You all did a phenomenal job. Obsessed.
This is one of the best projects by AG and team! ❤ Congratulations 🥳✨🥹
I started crying.. what A wonderful gift for this young woman in this season of her life. Yay team AGT👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Omg I'm bawling! I'm so excited to see this whole project! I'm also going through a huge breakup and it's soul crushing so having a space that is beautifully designed and safe and cozy is everything. I'm so glad Kate got this opportunity! On a more personal note, I threw my back out just as I was about to move so I took a few days, curled up on the floor, and binged almost every AG episode for the last two years so I could prep for my new space. Now I'm ready to move and I have a whole design plan! Thank you for all that you do and for being the perfect comfort channel.
it came out beautiful. I hope the cat doesn't scratch that beautiful cane. You nailed it!
You could've considered doing small curtains on the radiator area in the livide room, cuz Olive likes to go there
This episode made me so emotional as I felt the love within the girlfriend group and for the space. Congrats Kate
No one is more deserving you picked the perfect candidate so happy for her 🎉
SO weird waiting for the client reveal at the end and not seeing it 😂❤ Cant wait!
I really love this makeover. I am happy that she will have this beautiful space to share with her friends. Alexander you and your team are truly the best.❤❤
I love the living room. It's so beautiful. I was a little surprised that you didn't put a light in the reading nook area, though. That custom cushion for the nook was gorgeous. Great job team AG. Blessings - Judith 🎭
I think Graham needs his work place designed, he does alot for the company.
Absolutely gorgeous, done with care and thoughtfulness. Great job everyone!!!!
The best makeover you’ve ever done in my opinion! Sophisticated warmth with just the right touches of color and whimsy.
Wow, what a stunning room! You outdid yourselves with this one. The green cushion in the reading nook is gorgeous. I love everything about this room!! Kate seems like a wonderful person. I can see why you were drawn to her story. Thank you, team AG, for brightening the world, one room at a time. ☀️✨🫶
I love how the book stacks look but have to wonder how you remove a book that may be at the bottom of one of the shelves/brackets without all of the ones on top of it falling off?
Loving everything you’ve done to the space so far Alexandra! Gorgeous. Love Graham’s tv frame.
I imagine you have to remove the whole stack in order to get to one that's on the bottom
Love it all, especially the window seat cushion. Looking forward to the rest. She deserves this lift after that diagnosis.
24:40 slightly missed opportunity to use the office blooper of Michael’s flat screen TV that “folds right into the wall”. Gorgeous makeover team!! Love this series
I love how much fun the AG team is having on the job 😍
