I loved Stakes but man seems like once Steven Universe had the Stevenbombs seems like AT also got on the “hype train”, the wait for new episodes was unbearable at times. No wonder I missed the last couple of seasons and the finale

Wasn't the whole Maya plot originally a lead up to a potential movie but when that didn't pan up, they awkwardly ended it in the beginning of a episode?
It was a new approach that Cartoon Network wanted to try in cases of serialized storytelling (shorter bursts of episodes) because of the success of Over The Garden Wall, and their general strategy of becoming more and more episodic.
I gotta say, I appreciate the number of movies that Cartoon Network has greenlit. Even though some of them were subpar, it’s nice to know they were given a chance.
Surprisingly enough it had a few attempts One time was a theatrical movie produced by the LEGO Movie producers but it was scrapped as I believe CN thought Adventure Time had gone too deep into its lore to make a movie understandable enough to a general audience Another time was when a TV movie was supposed to bridge the gap inbetween Season 5 which was intended to split the season in two seasons but that was also scrapped for...some reason? And that's why season 5 is 52 episodes instead of the intended 26 as it's the original two seasons put together
The Powerpuff Girls movie, KND: Operation Zero, and Ed, Edd, & Eddy's Big Picture Show are peak CN movies to me. Love how they expand on the lore/characters while being great stories within themselves.

One thing I dislike about the WBB movie is that it retconned the origins of the Bears' stacking abilities. In the TV show Baby Bears Can't Jump it's revealed that they were able to stack while playing a basketball game, but in the movie it's also revealed they were able to stack within moments of meeting each other after escaping from a train. I get wanting to show them being able to stack at a more memorable moment in their lives for significance in their friendship, but why have an episode bringing up the origins in the first place??
Ed Edd n eddy’s big picture show is peak television that is a shining example of how to properly end a series that had more than one ending (glaring at you Steven Universe)

Even though the PPG movie didn’t make a lot of money. I really liked it. It was a very cute origin story. And I’m glad somebody else pointed it out. The tag scene while being extremely cool. Took up so much valuable time. The movie is a solid 8/10 and I recommend it. But that tag scene was a giant waste of fucking time.

I always felt like the PPG episode "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey" would've made a far stronger plot for the movie than an origin story. That episode had a unique premise, but was really rushed due to the 22 minute timeframe.
As someone who isn't really familiar with how people reviewed the PPG movie, I'm genuinely shocked to hear that so many people seem to hate it. I do remember it was painfully slow paced and took itself way too seriously at times, but I've always thought there were a lot of people who loved the movie (outside of it being a box office bomb).

All of these animated movies are timeless and there is no reason why CN can't just re run them from time to time. I loved watching them as a kid

This is probably my favorite of the recent vids you've done, Cartoonshi ^v^ also, I feel like even the best CN movies like Big Picture Show, the Foster's movies or Operation ZERO struggle with pacing (especially in their 2nd acts) and overambition, even when the ambition ends up paying off. You'll get cases where the overall film leans on the side of mid and can get fairly boring, but they'll still have incredible moments and scenes that stick with you and work well in a vacuum. Often when I hear people talk about these movies, the emphasis is always put on the climaxes - usually the best parts of these films, where you're able to briefly forgive and forget about the problematic pacing because some of these films truly do have some incredibly awesome and heartfelt moments in their endings
I will never forget watching both the beginning and end of the Steven Universe movie when it premiered while I was on vacation. Can’t believe it’s been 4 years already… I still really love the soundtrack. Especially Other Friends, Here We are in the Future, Drift Away, Independent Together, and Who We Are.
But what about Firebreather? That one-off CGI movie based on the Image comic of the same name that aired on Cartoon Network in 2010 and barely ever again despite getting a Blu-ray release.

I actually forgot that the regular show movie was a thing while also remembering the plot beat that Rigby made a fake letter of rejection so that he could still hang out with Mordecai. I think its because of how that plot beat is so important with their friendship that i thought it was a regular episode with that one time Mordechai actually pushes Rigby to his death as the ending.

When you think about it, during The Powerpuff Girls: Movie screening CN execs afraid that the film wouldn't appeal to boy audiences and when after the screening the boy audiences liked it. And as for Steven: Universe: The Movie there was a broadway presentation of the film but ended up cancelled due to pandemic

Popular cartoon series getting their own movies made it interesting for me as a general viewer, so when I'm not giving out brutally honest criticism to my favorite shows, I simply sat down and enjoy the movies, while at thesame time, not letting my baby brain get the best of me and completely forgetting the major errors of the movie because of a single action scene, cartoon movies for me are really a hit or miss, the Teen Titans Go movie surprised me with how good it is, while the Steven Universe movie left me in a braindead state before I managed to collect myself...edit: Steven Universe Movie is a somewhat mid-good movie..

My personal favorites are Steven Universe: The Movie, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, Ed Edd n' Eddy's Big Picture Show, and Regular Show: The Movie.
I consider the MHA movies to occur between the 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, and 3rd and 4th seasons respectively. But there's prbly at least a dozen places they could fit in the first 5 seasons alone. That's how little effect they have on continuity.

Popular cartoon series getting their own movies made it interesting for me as a general viewer, so when I'm not giving out brutally honest criticism to my favorite shows, I simply sat down and enjoy the movies, while at thesame time, not letting my baby brain get the best of me and completely forgetting the major errors of the movie because of a single action scene, cartoon movies for me are really a hit or miss, the Teen Titans Go movie surprised me with how good it is, while the Steven Universe movie left me in a braindead state before I managed to collect myself...edit: Steven Universe Movie is a somewhat mid-good movie..

Ben 10 Race Against Time & Alien Swarm may not be great but they are still better live action adaptation of a beloved TV show than Kim Possible 2019.
