The Tragedy of Learning With Pibby

- Learning with Pibby quickly went from a cartoon community darling to a surprisingly controversial series due to a combination of problems that were completely outside of its control. Today I aim to go over what made Pibby so popular in the first place and detailing the fall of its reputation and the unlikelihood of the show being picked up.

I really wanted pibby to happen. Not as a 2000 year series but a mini series. If the show did relied on nostalgia and what I've heard social media... no thank you...
Yeah, if Pibby did/does happen, I always figured a mini series would be best too. If it was to be something with multiple seasons, I think we'd need more plot ideas than just what the proof of concept gave us. As it stands, I think it'd get boring/stretched thin beyond something like 12 episodes at most, unless Dodge was hiding a secret cliff hanger where it ends with some insight as to the nature of the glitch/multiverse corruption, but leaves us with even more questions than answers, as well as having compelling arcs for the original characters to go on that have depth to be expanded upon.
@@gregvs.theworld451Well the creator published some consept arts recently and it seems like the show actually have a lot of interesting ideas i dont think this could be a 1 season only series there should be at least 2 seasons cuz it seems like there is a room for a lot of things in this series
@@gregvs.theworld451 agreed
@@gregvs.theworld451 Honestly I think just a TV movie would probably would be best por Pibby, it's not like it needs a lot of more runtime to achieve what it wants to, other than showing more Warner properties for fan service.
I feel like a better idea would more be a webseries, maybe relegated to the Infomercials block like a lot of the Wham City projects. Have it play into that mysterious vibe, almost like a signal hijacking for the first broadcast, and then transition there into the RUclips channel. I feel like that would go down better than "Let's make this stuff an actual broadcast TV show!"
I had hoped it could become a series, but I knew it would be a licensing nightmare to make such a crossover.
Well it depends. WB owns almost all the characters seen. Licensing would be a problem if they wanted to grab, say, SpongeBob for example. WB usually has no problem doing this at times(assuming it's their own project). Look at Multiversus for example, and all the IPs in the game so far. It was certainly doable for them, but yeah it would be difficult to get other IPs not under the WB umbrella. I agree.
It was never said to be canceled dude, it's on an indefinite hiatus.
I mean they own a lot of the shows presented, and they’ve collaborated with CN and Nick a lot too.
I think the problem is having “kid” shows like SpongeBob or Adventure Time accept to have characters partake in mature content like this
@Applespider12 The Batman vs Dracula has been a thing, which had blood and horror elements in it. And The Batman was on Cartoon Network. Believe me, Come and Learn with Pibby isn't far fetched.
@@joshuagarcia7488Those are basically the same thing, man.
To me, I gravitated less to the creepypasta-esque imagery and crossover appeal, and more to just the fact that Pibby herself is a sweetie bun that deserves to be hugged, and I think her journey would've been a really fascinating one.
May they have not given it the greenlight, but that doesn't mean that it has been definitively cancelled, therefore he must show them the mistake they made and that they still have the opportunity to fix it, and we can help him. This show actually can save Warner from fall in an abyss of decline like Disney and Nickelodeon.
The combo between a children's show host, a sidekick and a villainess working together to fight this threat was also an interesting idea. Would have liked to see how they all moved passed their initial shells in that.
We already know what would happen. She's sweet, gets attacked, eventually gets her first kill, loses friends and then becomes a Full-Fledged Hardened Warrior.
@@_V.Va_that's the point. 😅
Goobermunch take? 🧐
It’s very possible that the amount IPs being involved was the main problem
Too many people to talk to and too much logistics involved
Maybe, but (~99% of) all the pre-existing characters & assets are based on things owned by Warner Bros. so you'd think it'd easier to work with

Im honestly surprised that Adult Swim of all companies decided to reject it. I mean, this is the same company that greenlit Squidbillies and 12 oz Mouse. I hope one day the show can finally be greenlit. But, thats just a hope. I hope if Dodge cant get the show greenlit, he could at least make it a webcomic. I think itd be good for that

@ShiningTaiga hey, I ain't slandering it. But it's not the highest quality show. Especially its last season. But I'm just saying, if shows like Squidbilles can air on AS, then I think Pibby should've had a chance
I definitely want to see Dodge cook with something in the future. I'll admit, I haven't been the biggest fan of his previous outputs, but Pibby does suggest he wants to try and do something darker and grittier than his previous works, and if not Pibby if he has another idea down the line I'm willing to let him cook.

Oversaturation will do that, since a fanbase full with kids will milk something until the cow is drained of even its own blood. Sonic.exe shit was ESPECIALLY annoying until it too finally died out, or at least slowed down to the point where no one keeps track of whatever mod related to it comes out anymore.
Honestly I really did like the concept of the plot but I feel like it would’ve been better if this was a story focusing on pibby trying to get back to her own show and experiencing various of things that her show would never allow her to do making her question if she even wants to go back.🤔🐱
Honestly that's not a bad idea.
I will admit, the idea of exploring the end to the hero's journey was something I was curious about if this got greenlit. If Pibby saves the multiverse, but in the process loses her innocence, which in her show is kind of the whole deal, what happens when things return to status quo?
To be honest that idea has been done a lot not to mention it was already taken over by the glitch so not much left to me it would be more interesting if you know she actually found a way to try and get rid of the glitch and in the end most of the area has been greatly damaged and there a people trying to rebuild most of everyone has been traumatized by the event and most of everyone lost someone they knew so it’s not a over the top happy ending but it shows signs that things will get better one step at a time but that’s my opinion
Pibby went through what I like to call the internet hype-hate cycle
Thing is interesting it gets popular
Thing gets too popular it gains a large fanbase
The fanbase gets annoying and loud
People start to hate on the fanbase and thing and it becomes cool to do so or people say they like the thing Ironically now
After a while the people that hate on the thing and fans become too loud that people start to hate on the haters
After a while things die down and so does hype
In a few years people will act like its cool to like the thing again and say they were always a fan and didn't jump on the hate bandwagon

It was bit weird how Pibby was easily the exception for having other IPs, but other media like TTG with their WB 100th celebration for example, would get flak for having a lot of IPs or making children's media edgy.

The concept seemed pretty cool, however, I really think what hurt it was them basically showing Pibby's overall character development in the trailer. While the show could definitely expand on her story, it doesn't change how people already had a basic idea on how her role will play out, and it's not exactly a unique one either if you've seen stuff like Terminator. There's a reason why people talk more about the concept of the glitch and already established IPs than the actual characters we're suppose to follow.
What’s not so unique about the idea last time i checked there weren’t many characters in shows or movies crossing over to other shows and movies learning how to go from a non threatening child friendly main character or back ground character to a hero or a well trained survivor that knows how to fight
@@decomposingdave2902 I'm not talking about the world or the setting, I'm talking about the titular character herself. Because her story is pretty "Been there, done that." Pibby was appealing to me not for the creepypasta stuff but more because it reminded me of Subspace Emissary from Super Smash Brothers. The idea of heroes trying to save their friends from this unknown corruption and not knowing who among their motley crew could become corrupted next appealed to me. I suppose the point is that the drama and tension is what I wanted... not really the "horror"
This right here^
That’s a great example.
What’s crazy is I remember hearing “Oh yeah the show is already greenlit” so many times, I kept hearing “Yeah the show is being made” and stuff like that, and it’s kind of funny now because they were either also being lied to or just being stupid/liars.
You can see comments on the original like “animation takes time, we should be getting a full trailer any day now”
Compared to other “throw IPs to the wall” stuff that WB did like Ready Player One and Space Jam 2, Pibby had potential.
Hope it gets picked up somehwere else

The only reason you people gave this thing the light of day was because of all the nostalgia being thrown at your face
The thing I liked more about the pilot was the plot idea they show, the concept of an innocent character learn how harsh the real world is it's a cool and interesting idea but it's obvious that the crossover did the heavy lifting of the pilot and made it impossible to fully realized
That’s what I was thinking, along with a villain and sidekick as Pibby’s companions actually peaked my interest much more than the corrupted IPs
As someone who’s in the FNF community, yeah there were TONS of pibby stuff lol. It got to a point where people were really tired of seeing it so it naturally faded away, I still like a few mods from that era - e.g some Jakeneutron stuff.
it had been getting a resurgences with specifically family guy
now that i think of it a very similar thing has been done with the other corruption type FNF mod (the one made by phantom fear) where a lot of shit was made using modded characters no new songs just simple skin mods and reused assets
it then faded away for a while
only for much better ones to pop back up like reimagined, pumpkin hunt, hell beats and insanity
The Ceo of Warner studio simply ignore them.
Blud pibby fnf mods just got revived recently 💀look at the pibby apocalypse mod
okay but why was FnF used as the vessel, of all things? It's a game about loving Newgrounds and wanting to finally get your dick wet through the power of rap, that sounds like the exact opposite of Pibby, I don't get it
Yo I remember seeing the countless Pibby related mods
You are definitely correct about the liscencing nightmares that were probably ensuing behind the scenes as well as it’s explosion in popularity and varied reputations probably causing way too much stress for the network to handle. (Along with that concept for the glitchy darkness making me want to dip my brain into a vat of toxic acid)
But at the same time, we’re talking about a gargantuan entertainment company that has a vast gallery of media to pull from to get this thing going as well as the resources to (most likely) actually pull it off.
With some refinement in the story department, Adult Swim could’ve had a smash hit on their hands for the modern era. But then again, they’re currently owned by a company that not only ditched a concept that people actually found mildly interesting, but also the company that greenlit the idea of turning Mindy Kaling’s twitter feed into an “Adult Cartoon”.
I don't know Dodge personally, but yeah my vibe is that, while I think there's potential for this to be great, not all of his ideas are winners and maybe a couple good writers and a "no" man or two could really help make Pibby shine if they were to actually make it.
Learning With Pibby as a show sounds cool, but I really think it could work best as a movie.

Yeah. I think it's an amazing concept. But let's be frank, it's would've been a massive logistical nightmare. But, if Teen Titans Go can have a massive crossover between many Warner Bros IP's, then I think Pibby could've done it
Adult Swim is owned by WB, which also owns CN, and Boomerang. A lot of these IPs they would've had an easy time getting permission for right away. Multiversus did it, pibby could've too. The problem in my eyes would've been non WB IPs. WB has allowed use of these characters to many of their projects, Player First Games, NetherRealm Studios, Adult Swim even airs checkered past now, which airs Cartoon Network shows. It's a good decision. The show would've been peak but 90% of the audience would be 10-14. If one of the first responses to your short film meant for 16-30 is a series of animation memes and FNF mods, you screwed up. It's a demographic nightmare, not to mention a licensing nightmare.
Ahem- *pibby apocalypse*
This makes no sense. Kids already watch adult swim when they aren't supposed to. Kids younger than 8 are watching Family guy right now. However, to blame FNF for it being cancelled is a ridiculous argument to make, and I would argue those mods actually kept the hype for the show going as long as it did. Especially since WB could EASILY get all those mods removed since they're using WB IPs without permission. As for it being the fault of children, if children are watching Adult Swim in the first place, it's moreso their parents faults, parental controls exist.

Oh wait-
Wait just a gosh darn second
personally I think SOMETHING happened at WB to make them much more careful with crossovers. I mean look at Harvey Birdman compared to Birdgirl-the OG had A TONNE of old cartoon characters, but the spin-off/sequel series had none, closest we got was Mentok's daughter. If only we knew what the heck happened/could convince them to undo that mistake.
That aside, why constantly extend the trademarks? why make REAL LIFE BILLBOARDS FEATURING PIBBY if they weren't going to make a show?
Just a thought, but what if this whole "cancellation" thing is part of the marketing? I mean if the glitch can affect billboards, surely it could "seep out" into computers and maybe even "control" the creator. Technically, cancellation would mean the darkness WON, so...who knows?
Still pretty hurt that I didn't get picked up, but I never found the concept "scary" in the first place. I was more focused on where it would go and how the series would resolve. Never saw a concept like this making it past 1-2 seasons though, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested.
I have a theory as to another reason Pibby could've been shelved, and it has to do with the whole HBO Max situation. There was definitely a time when WB was at least interested in the idea, but around the time shows were being taken off their streaming platform, a few Pibby fans wondered if it was a promotional stunt / ARG thing. Obviously that was never true, but when people could so easily draw a connection between the executive decision-making and the glitchy void wiping realities from existence... yeah, it's not a good look for WB. So I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in its cancellation.
I really do hope Pibby is remembered for the great concept and creative community she brought with her, and not the meme she's become today.
Ok, I honest to God never knew this existed and thought that the glitchiness was just a lame trend of making children's properties edgy for the sake of being edgy. This was mainly because of when YT pushed all those "BF vs. Glitchy [Character] - FNF Mod" videos. Great vid as always, Toonshi!
i liked the concept of pibby but lets be honest.. itd be way too hard to do with all these different properties and the issues with that. i dont think itd go well
What's funny that Gumball also made a parody episode of The Grieving episode where it's basically just goofy uhh funny episode. lol.
I'm interested to compare this situation to the Amazing Digital Circus as it progresses - the glitch imagery and the fandom that sprung up around it overnight struck me right away. they seem like very different stories ofc, and play off different eras of nostalgia: 90s/early aughts vs late 2000s/early 2010s, as well as different overriding themes. I wonder how ADC will subvert the "corruption of childhood media" aspects, as it seems a bit less cliche than whatever Pibby had going on
Honestly, it wasn't the references and appearances of other shows and characters that I think made that Pibby pilot special, but instead the feeling of complete hopelesness and devastation that contrasted with those shows's feel.
The idea of seeing three characters come toghether to survive in a violent, dangerous world they don't understand, along the possibility of a plot based around the concept of animated television itself, is really interesting to me.
You could really feel how this show was supposed to escalate through that bus scene in the pilot: these people have lost everything, yet they're willing to fight for the family they have left. A true tale of companionship over everything else.
Slightly unrelated, but I believe the indie game Amanda the Adventurer had a similar idea but was able to steal its thunder a couple of months later when the demo came out and then a year later the full game was released in spring of 2023, while Pibby was silently cancelled.
I'm hoping, with a few revisions, and using more original characters, this show will get picked up somewhere else. It's too cool of a concept to just abandon altogether. I love the idea of an innocent character being thrown into this chaotic hellhole while trying to maintain a sense of stability. It offers a chance for the main character to grow and change as a person (whether it be for the good or not).
They could still easily have Pibby be a show, just remove all the crossover aspects. The short showed Pibby’s character arc, so there’s that, and the show could easily have the overarching idea of a child learning how harsh and complex the world is, and maturing from it.
Maybe have the static be called ‘The Truth’, because it shows the reality of life, and those that get corrupted by it basically couldn’t handle what they got shown.
this was kinda my thought, maybe just do parodies of the ips in question instead of actually doing the original ip so that you don't have to worry about licensing issues (I don't know much but I'm pretty sure those could be brutally expensive)
I was NEVER interested to the glitch-crap, Sure it's amazing to behold but it's really not that new. I just wanted to see Pibby, Her Journey, Her DEVELOPMENT through all of this, I want to see her as an amazing character-... but now the fandom and Wanrer Bros Discovery now fucking ruined it. :(
I think the thing that ended up drawing me in was the fact that it seemed to be an adult animated series that wasn’t just a comedy, and instead a horror/action type show with an intriguing set up and world. Adult animation has become known primarily for poorly animated, trying too hard to be offensive, Family Guy clones, and so at the point when it came out, I was pretty desperate for something non derivative.
BRO I THOUGHT PIBBY WAS FOR 2 YR OLDS BUT ITS NOT. I GOT TO WATCH THAT!
I think Pibby would have worked amazingly as a new form of commercial bumper, with Pibby and glitches infecting whatever shows were airing at the time
That actually happened on Adult Swim on april fools 2022
@@sonicfanboy3375 I stg I live under a rock
I am a huge sucker for ambitious animated projects, namely crossovers. Given the constant delays and Dodge Greenley not saying much on his Instagram until the news of the cancellation, I was slightly worried Pibby was never happeneing, AND I HATED MYSELF FOR THINKING THAT! Surely, WB/Adult Swim wouldn't let one of the Top 5 most popular videos on Adult Swim's RUclips channel mean nothing after the skyrocketing view count, April Fools' prank, billboards, and FNF mods with non-WB IPs. But then reality sets in, and the symbolism of the corruption resembling WB, while a bit premature as their major company issues the past couple years didn't occur around the trailer's release, makes a hell of a lot more sense... (Also, for clarification, I'm not denying the narrative factors that would've prevented the greenlighting, but it still hurts)
Thanks for the outro rep, much love homie ❤️
A bad thing about today's society is that we judge things based off their fanbase. Even when we really shouldn't. Games like undertale, which has an infamous fanbase, Is an honestly good game even 7 years later. (Deltarune too.) Or (god help this comment not get hated on) Fortnite. I personally stayed away from both of these games because of their fanbase, but when I tried both of them, I actually had a great time.(with friends that is)
While I wanted Pibby to happen, there’s a very clear reason why I wouldn’t have: kids and parents confusing it for the show the characters are from. The reason why Robot Chicken, Family Guy, South Park, Simpsons, and other adult cartoons can parody media is because of their distinct styles that make it nearly impossible for a parent or child to confuse it for the show they actually want to watch. Meanwhile, part of the appeal with Pibby is that the CN and AS characters actually look like how they do in their original shows. So you can see where the confusion from parents and children might come from, and while this isn’t very scary to us who grew up with creepypastas, I can see how it could be scary for a young kid.
What? Is people stupidity an argument now?
@@josecriollo6976 Unfortunately, yes.
I personally found the most interesting part of the shows potential by FAR was Pibbys character development from sweet and innocent to a badass, and how its effects would inevitable come back to bite her.
Honestly, if the issue with this getting greenlit was down to liscensing, id say get rid of it. Make new interesting characters that would be Pibbys aid to her moral compass, or to become glitchy monsters. Sounds still rlyyyy interesting
The current licensing system we have right now would "inhibit crossover creativity" meaning pibby: apocalypse would be impossible to make.
It is disappointing that they could have made a lot of money from this
I honestly feel like it being canceled was the best thing that could have happened to it. There is no way in hell it was going to live up to the hype it got and no telling how far it's deranged fans would have gone over story elements or theory crafting. Remember when people harassed that hotel over stephen universe theories? I can also imagine such a series leading to the creators getting harassed, And I'm willing to bet fan boys and anti fan boys would have went to war over this show, With many people saying it was a masterpiece and others getting mad that people thought it was a masterpiece. It was for the best. Subtlety is a Series's best friend.
I think its overall a neat concept. I wouldnt mind seeing cameos of characters I never knew existed because they came out before I was born and to see Adult Swim messing around with a concept like this really peaked my interest. I was also looking forward to it because I wanted to see more content coming from a place I grew up with.
Really great to see you upload I really hope you are getting better
if it ain't getting picked up... the fans are perhaps crazy enough to do it themselves, just you wait.
back then i felt a huge interest in the premise of this show, i really wanted to watch it if it were ever to be an actual thing, but nowadays... i honestly don't care about it anymore.

How does that even make sense? Wouldn't the darkness be better if it symbolized cancelation only and not internet?
My take on this is that while Pibby was an interesting concept there were some icks about it that made me question if a full series could work. Pibby’s character plot for this seemed very straightforward and kinda un-interesting to see. There was also sadly the issue of kids invading and making things worse. I can see why they invaded as Pibby’s look and her show artstyle can easily catch the eye of a kid. Sometimes it sucks when parents don’t look out enough for their child. It’s very infuriating and usually a common reason why games and communities like FNaF and FNF are usually ruined thanks to kids (although kids aren’t the only reason FNF was ruined but I don’t want to dive into that).
Overall, Pibby can be executed well if done right. The main focus should be the plot and carefully piecing it all together while still giving the main trio their moments. Character development is also important too and I think a big factor for developing these characters is their origins like how did they come to be? It’s a mystery how there are these shows airing on CN that no one has ever seen before like Pibby. That can work really well into the plot and maybe can even explain the origins of the corruption. Were these new shows never supposed to air? If so, are these characters stuck in a loophole believing they’ve been airing for a while? We know that Pibby’s show seems to have been airing for quite a while despite us never seeing it air in the first place. There’s a lot to speculate and theorize and I think that can add a good factor into the show answering some questions but leaving others left unanswered for the viewers to interpret and decide.
agreed
I will agree that I was excited to see LWP when it first premiered, and managed to catch the crossovers block without realizing it. But I can see how it wasn't greenlit, even if I didn't see as much hate for it as you did online. I still think there's potential for it, even after seeing some of the concept art be....weird.
The creator of Pibby was a guest lecturer at my school recently. He's a really cool guy, but I could tell he was trying not to vent about his series getting shafted. He basically explained that it's a miracle if any animated series gets off the ground, because of new executives being hired, networks changing their mind, or being stuck in development hell so long that someone just decides to pull the plug. There are a million things that can happen, and he made it very clear it happens more than you think. He had to be vague for legal reasons, but the gist of it is, if you have a vision for an original series, it's almost a certainty it'll never see the light of day.
It had a lot of potential. Though I definitely see understand why it didn’t get the greenlight. Still a shame.
Other than that, if I could make something with a bunch of IP’s, I’d do something like have the dimensional merge occur on a lesser scale with the Pink Puffball himself, Kirby making some new friends in the form of Izuku, Ochako, Zenitsu, Megumi from Food Wars, Karma Akabane, Gumball, Stewie, Zim, etc. along with going on wild adventures in this new mish mash of worlds.
Ever considered writing fanfics? This idea sounds cool
Pibby looked cool but it never would've worked, the amount of ip's, like they had VEGETA there, you think toei is gonna let Dragon ball out of their grasp at all?
I always thought they could just do some sort of reference or parody for the IPs they weren’t allowed to use, which obviously wouldn’t have worked as well, but it’s better than nothing
Just found out about this series 20 minutes ago, really happy to see its more than just a [AS] commercial, but really sad to see it hasnt been greenlit. It looks super fun. It seems a bit projective to constantly repeat “creepypasta reference,” or “blood for shock value” i just think it wouldve been an exciting rollercoaster pulling on the nostalgia of old, good shows and tugging on the heartstrings of watching a young heroine trying to survive in a game far out of her league amonst the horror of them all becoming monsters
Yeah I'm also sad that pibby is not gonna be green lit but hey the fans could made like a fan episode to see what the show could have been
This should have been a show
Bro I'm gonna be real, Pibby was overrated.
Like people were treating this show like it was the Moses when it was just a trailer???
Yeah the animation looks good (sometimes) and a semi interesting idea, but that's it.
As one of the few Pibby fans who are above the age of 18, I was more interested in how they would use/mess with the animation and television medium. I’ve always wanted to see a muppet like puppet character getting pulled into the darkness, with them flailing their arms around like Kermit. It would be funny to see.
Pibby doesn’t need to be this big thing, I don’t think it ever was. It really should just be this short series that has fun with its premises and medium, with some character development in between.
I do feel bad for Dodge Greenly. He went from a storyboard artist to a director, and his first project end up being a hit, getting overhyped, developing a hatedom, and eventually abandoned. That’s gotta effect you personally in some way.
In other new, I have never seen anyone say ‘must be a pibby glitch’ unironically. Is this twitter only thing?
I remember I wrote an Omegle creepyasta in 2013, and years later I found out there were videos made about it and even some art. The more you know.
But yeah, missed opportunity.
So I got obnoxious Friday Night Funkin Pibby mod videos on my timeline for months for NOTHING?!?!
Yup
I just like the villain cat and the concept
Cartoonshi: Talking about the controversy and negativity surrounding the show
Me: "We already know Twitter-I mean X."
I am still gonna call it Twitter. I hate how he removed the Twitter Bird.
Pibby fan or not, you've gotta admit; it's pretty impressive that an [adult swim] short got to big levels of popularity and even a fandom
You know this show will be remembered as a big what-if
pibby is definitely something i see as an internet miniseries concept rather than full blown show
Cool vid. Kinda stopped keeping up with pibby after the April fools thing so I didn’t really know anything about it falling off.
I’m just wondering. HOW IS THE CAT RUNNING IN THOSE HIGH HEELS
TDLR: Pibby has not be greenlit because of licensing. What can you do
It sucks to see Learning with Pibby may not or become a Series. It had so much potential, but like that Dodge is showing us the art of the show.
This is the first time I’ve heard of this! It’s fascinating, thank you for making this :)
when it comes to the creepypasta elements like the glitches, I think people were really into Pibby cause it was one of the first time those glitches were actually put to animation. Like, back in the early internet, most creepypastas only had images to accompany them, and so in Pibby, seeing how the animation glitches gives the idea a lot more credit than people would've otherwise given it.
Also probably cause of the scale the production was. Like, most creepypastas were made by kids and so even if they had images accompanying them it looked low quality by design so seeing the work of an actual studio create this helped elevate it's visuals immensely
Aw man, I was excited about Pibby. It was one of few animations I was waiting for but I should've saw this coming :( Also I know they said the show is /unlikely/ to be picked up, but I'm still going to lower my hopes just in case.
Somehow i completely missed this 2 years ago and only watched the trailler now. As an adult, i must say it is a bit tiring and a bit "haha cool edgy" but it seems actually fun to watch, and im sad to see people hating on it because "fans are annoying". Let fans be annoying and ignore it, thats not the fault of the media in enough itself, and for what it is, seems like a simple but fun cartoon that obviously wouldn't get picked up because of licensing
For those who don't get the licensing problems, even within the same company, you cant just USE Scooby Doo characters, youll have to have permission and those episodes whould ideally be made with Scooby Doos creators deciding what the characters will or won't do, what they talk, how they react to the situation, etc. Repeat that with every media franchise shown and thats s recipe for disaster. Theres a reason large cross-over series are commonly badly written or canceled before starting.
AS has a track record of greenlighting just about anything (to my knowledge), I feel like the only reason it was turned down was because of the amount of IPs involved. I feel like if the corruptions were based off popular characters but ultimately their own in-universe things similar to Pibby’s two sidekicks, it would’ve been picked up rather quickly.
I’m gonna hold out hope for Pibby.
I mean, Infinity Train took forever to get a full series too.
