They’ve done a great job at giving the viewers perspective of what it’s like to be Steven grant, with the confusion and fear he faces

We're following Steven so we don't see Marc's fight scenes in the beginning. I like that we're getting to know them one at a time. Also the costume comes from inside of him, so no need to hide it.
Marc let the goldfish die since he was to busy punching people for nearly 3 days hence why there's a new goldfish with 2 fins. Marc tried but ultimately failed in keeping his antics on the DL
that's the impression i'm getting as well.
I didn't even get this when l was watching. Cool.
I've decided Marc has a fish sitter for while he's out of town but the pick-up time got moved around and he hoped Steven wouldn't notice until he had a chance to get Gus. Also I have no proof except a dead fish wouldn't be suspicious. Fish die. A fish with an extra fin is only slightly less suspicious than a missing fish. Fishes don't wander off unless you've dropped them off at a fish sitter!

I think skipping time just as the violence starts wasn’t just about keeping it safe for kids. It was also meant to help put the audience in Steven’s shoes as he experiences this lost time. We’re just a confused and discombobulated as he is about where he is, how he got there, and what he’s done. Steven isn’t aware of what he’s doing as Marc/Moon Knight so we wouldn’t see those events from his perspective. I’m sure we’ll get plenty of action/fighting and violence from Marc & Moon Knight when they’re in control. Be a little patient.

@@soyjeffe__ I'm referring to the section of the clip starting at 19:38 where the comments mention "taking out scenes...like when he was in danger." "Felt like that kept it PG-13...they had to." I took that to mean you felt like some violent moments weren't shown because young children might be watching. Apologies if I misunderstood.

It wasn’t about PG13, it was all about Steven's point of view he’s literally lost, scared and confused every time he wakes up somewhere, next week we might see Marc's POV with him kicking ass lol

My heart broke for Steven. 😪😥 The bird is the God Khonsu which you keep hearing and comparing to Venom lol. I loved the cutting in and out of the personalities because that is how it is for many people with Dissociative identity disorder. Many don’t know what the other “person” did and when they come back into themselves they can be confused. We’re seeing it from Stevens POV.
Has to be the best first episode of any Marvel series to date. I actually like the build up of the flashes then showing he killed those guys to ending the episode with him in his costume.
I get that some were annoyed during the 'action' scenes cause we technically 'miss' them all, but I find it FAR cooler, cause when Steven misses time, we get to 'experience' how much of a badass Marc really is. Steven is so helpless, like a baby, but he suddenly just wakes up from something where dead bodies around him. That's so cool honestly. I feel like 'seeing' the action scenes would have taken away from that feeling AND we would have been treated to a 'regular' action scene that we've seen a thousand times before. By changing it up like this, it gives it something original and shows us how terrifying it is from Stevens perspective. I mean imagine, five guys are about to jump you on the street, you black out and suddenly you're back and theyre just all dead on the ground

But my point is that the purpose of this episode was to put the audience in the shoes of Steven, and to show how jarring it is for him when he loses time and ends up in all these crazy situations. I much prefer how they did it instead of revealing everything and giving people generic action scenes - exactly as people were expecting. It's been done a thousand times before when the seemingly weak person suddenly turns into this badass and kicks everyones ass. The way they did it here was original, new and very interesting. I dont just want to watch another generic action show where everything you expect happens, I want to see something unique and I feel we'll be getting that with Moon Knight
@@nadeeml9276 It annoys me that I knew they wouldn’t like that we didn’t see the fighting… but I agree I think it’s better especially if we see Marc’s perspective next episode, I like how us the audience are confused just like steven is, seeing him go through all this but not have any idea what’s going on (plus the fact that his life basically sucks) makes me really sympathize for him.

People that give it negative reviews don't understand it, only want Marvel to be fighting and corny jokes and the camera work alone in this first episode is so original and so pleasing to the eye.
They are showing Stevens point of view which is why u didn't see any damage being done and his blackouts. We probably visit mark and his backstory in episode 2
Oscar Isacc is a great actor who seems to me the best choice of all. And I hope that the next episodes we have of Moon Kngiht!

This show had me hooked from the jump. Can't wait to follow along every week with you guys.
Something I loved is how they put us in the perspective of Steven throughout the entire episode. Because Marc is the main host body, and the one who was resurrected by Khonshu, it puts us the viewer in Steven’s shoes as if we’re experiencing his mental troubles and questioning of reality with him. And cutting away from the action when Marc takes over and instead putting us back with Steven is just fantastic. Very genius imo. And I’m sure we’ll get to see Marc’s comic origin and becoming MK (or a version of it) through flashbacks. As someone who’s been a fan of Moon Knight for years, I was incredibly happy with how this first episode was, and love that they saved the suit reveal towards the end. Honestly gets a 10/10 from me

When Arthur was giving Steven his judgement, his tattoo/marking didn't stop moving. Hence why he said there's chaos in him. Steven was neither good nor bad, he was perfectly neutral. Exactly what Moon Knight is in the comics, the sort of neutral anti-hero.
I think they on purposely cut out the fight scenes for Marc because we are still being introduced in Steven Grant's perspective. I think episode 2 will cover Marc's perspective.
You would be completely spot on there. If they showed the stuff with Marc right away in episode 1, it would take away a lot of the suspense and intrigue and confusion when it comes to Steven’s POV. I definitely think next episode there’ll be more of a balance, both between Marc and Steven interacting, along with some more Moon Knight action sequences

Another note about the action: the cutting away from the action is very deliberate. It’s not because of kids watching, it’s to put the audience in Steven’s shoes, to show how he’s experiencing everything from his POV from when he blacks out when Marc takes over. This was very intentionally a Steven POV episode, and I’m sure in episode 2 it’ll be more Marc centric and have more Moon Knight action. So I wouldn’t worry, the action is coming. This was just a very deliberate (and very well executed) directorial decision. If we got to see it from Marc’s POV in the moment, it would take away a lot of the suspense, intrigue, confusion of it all when we switch to Steven
This is correct but they’re also not showing a bloody massacre because it’s pg13. Of course the violence is still gonna be censored and limited they can’t show it because it’s not rated R
They showed the lost time/time skips because they’re committed to portraying Dissociative Identity Disorder and a bit of what those folks afflicted with it experience. That’s a real mental illness (minus supernatural/superhero stuff) where people legit wake up having no idea what they’ve been doing for hours, days, or even weeks at a time because a different personality was in the driver’s seat.
Glad y’all are digging it, just wanted to explain why they’re leaning into it that way early. They’re trying to show us what Steven Grant is experiencing. Marc Spector and Moon Knight’s perspectives will come later.
that wolf turned from predator to prey with a few blinking libeating, a few hyroglyths! naw for real tho, it was like one of those "im not trapped in here with you, YOU ARE TRAPPED IN HERE WITH ME!" moments. moon knight dragged that wolf back into the bathroom for a ass beatin, like someone dragging their dog into the bathroom for a bath!

This was a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. For what I know about DiD, you can really lose days even when one of you alters decides to front. Seems Steven is a fairly new-ish alter so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must’ve pretty large trauma (which alters are born/created which is through Massive trauma). I appreciate the fact they (the host and alters) Haven’t made an “Evil” alter yet. Again DiD is about managing trauma not causing it. Yes, some alters (known as Protecters) can be rougher on the outside ( aka in front while the host is in the mind). But, never straight-up causing problems on purpose only to protect the host and the other alters. And Marc is the host as for Steven he is the one who is the most out aka in front so he can have some social life.

Steven is a vegan though. Mark isn't. So when he ordered the steak at the restaurant, he, Steven felt desperation. And in that moment he didn't care.

Amazing and tripping first episode - they really put you in the Steven characters shoes - totally disoriented - but that Moon Knight reveal - what an intro to the character - you understand exactly how hard he is in just a few seconds of screen time

Honestly speaking as someone who has night terrors and loses my sense of time and reality a good bit of the time the depiction of Stevens character is accurate. Yeah a lot of the time its frustrating to see the choices he makes but I've seen things similar to him and tbh sometimes in that mindset you just don't know what to trust even if it's something that seems like the right option.
There are a lot of times that while I'm fully awake and all I have seen reoccurring characters or places and its so fucking hard to not be able to speak to anybody about them. Also whos to say that whenever I have one of those moments what if I'm questioning or in conflict with one of the characters and the whole time its actually someone I hold close but my mind shows me otherwise.
🤟 That's why Steven rarely wants to surrender control over to Marc or Konshu. There's a certain point you hit where although yeah the things you see effect you and make you become a better person, there's also a fear that you won't have control to stop anything that would accidentally be moraly against anything you'd want in your day to day.
For all he knows Marc could just be a flight or fight response in his head that he audibly hears and wants to solve things domestically before violence. Sometimes in the moment when you see the things I see or what he sees it takes a moment to decipher what's real and what's not, because making a decision too quick is like a shot in the dark.
that's why I love this depiction of moon knight. Its comforting to actually visually see something so relatable and genuine to my experiences conveyed correctly. There's been time's where I've physically seen and heard relatives of mine that have passed, Sometimes I live entire days of my life within my dreams and have different continuities that I have to decide what's real and what's not and cross my fingers I don't fuck my life up. Even as far as there's times where my entire surroundings have altered in my mind and I've been woken up by the sound of my own self. Moon knight is a highly respectable show. I've never felt comfortable speaking about any of that.

If I’m being honest, the MCU has another potential Gold Mine on their hands with Moon Knight. This potential has been locked away for DECADES, they just need to do a deeper dive into the characters backstory and his origin because 6 eps is definitely not enough. He’s definitely in my top 10 Marvel characters of all time.

And on top of that, previous to the movies some of us had no idea who the guardians of the galaxy were.
