I'm not judging this by episodes... I'm judging the entire series as one. This show could've easily been in theaters and would've done well. Phenomenal acting from Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, Excellent writing and directing as well.🏆
If this was in theaters I'd pay every week to see an episode... On gawd
I think this series is enough for introduce who is moon knight and what he, I mean "they" capable of. So when the theater pop out we don't need any slow pace story for introducing and the director have more time on develop others such as action or cinematic shots.

I understand why they didn't show Jake. Even the director said it's UNFAIR to address his arc within the same 6 epsiodes, cuz it becomes "too much". Marc is the main here, and Steven, THEN Jake. So it makes sense why they kept them until the end. I don't know if this show will get a season 2 or a solo movie, but I feel like it should get one of those cuz having Moon Knight in a different project as a "side story" won't work very well as there is still SO MUCH to be discussed!
Not showing his fight scenes was a mistake imo tho, now he’s so hyped up that if the fight scenes aren’t Jason Bourne on steroids it’s gonna be disappointing

Remember he killed the people in that village, the guy in the truck, he drove that truck backward, killed that Jackal.
He walked out and looked at that video camera like"WHAT"!
That was all Mark…The only times where it’s been Jake were when Marc was knocked out in Cairo and ended up in a taxi, when he killed the people on the cliff, in the sarcophagus at the asylum, the final fight where he beats Harrow, and then we finally see him in the end credits.
@@lanasan2116 How do you know that? I have a sneaky feeling that every time they (Marc and Steven) switched whenever the eyes got weird it changed to Jake. Because we see them switch a ton between marc and steven and they never look up into their own skull (so to speak). And as far as i know, IF that change is always into Jake it fits narratively i think?
For example, the guy in the cupcake van; he was kinda brutally murdered and that feels more Jake than Marc no?

Mostly this was Mark and Steven's story. I'm sure we'll get more Jake in the second season.
@@jackesson94 well tbh it doesn't make narrative sense to me because the gradual change between hard eye roll switches into the eventual smooth transitions between Marc and Steven are a big part and indication of the journey they have in this story. In the beginning they are eye roll switches because Steven is not aware of Marc and when he does become aware of him they are working against each other and each trying to take control. Gradually, as they come together more, the transitions become smoother until in the last episode they are seamless-because they have accepted each other and are working as a team. Which is why, during that very last fight scene with Harrow, the switch suddenly goes back to a hard eye-roll blackout switch- an indication that this is definitely Jake, the alter they are not aware of and who takes control of the body by force to save them.
As for the cupcake van, Marc may not be as brutal as Jake, but he is very much an ex mercenary and would have no problem killing the men attacking them. I'm certain that whole mission is Marc, because he refers to that incident to Steven during the bathroom Jackel fight scene. He tells Steven "I can save us but you can't interfere again like last time"-meaning the scarab chase. There are definitely moments where it is Jake, like the ones I mentioned above (and also the person who asked the girl out which i forgot) I'm just saying those specific moments were def Marc.
@@justthej Yes, I mentioned those bits lol I only meant the specific moments that were mentioned above were Marc. You're right about the date one, I forgot that. And we can also count all the times where there were 3 reflections in mirror, meaning Jake was silently there all along. I'm hoping if we get a season 2, it will be Jake heavy!
If you scan the QR Code in the episode, you get taken to a comic where Moon Knight faces Kang the Conqueror.
These guys are absolutely right. Moon Knight needs to be rated R. The studio needs to deep dive into the chaos that is Moon Knight with a more mature tone.
100 percent. You can tell they were restricted by that TV-14 rating...or this could have definitely gone the route of the Netflix series The Punisher.
I think Marvel will eventually do some rated r superhero movies. I also think they are testing the waters with Moonknight and Doctor Strange 2 to get a feel on how people are going to react.

It's already rated 16+ here, the same rating as Deadpool on Disney Plus, which is surprising... I thought at times it was more intense and gory than the other Disney+ shows (specially ep 4) but not THAT much.
I don't think the rating matters too much tho. That's not what makes a show or movie great by any means.

Layla is the Scarlet Scarab. It is confirmed that this was the Season Finale, not the Series Finale. Most likely, it is coming back for a second season.
Definitely a great start for testing the waters towards a darker tone. Now they gotta capitalize on it and make season 2. If enough people want it I’m sure they’ll make it.
My favorite Moon Knight comic run was written by Jeff Lemire so I adore this show. It's not following the comics in a strict way but the essence is there. Oscar Isaac was amazing, top tier acting. Marc going back to save Steven was my favorite part. I really don't understand why some people were disappointed by the season finale. If they are, that's on them.

Apparently, this was deliberate by the director, who was unhappy by the Egyptian portrayals WW84. And yes, she out-Wonder Woman'ed WW84. Can't wait to see more of her.

Oscar can easily pull off being Jake Lokley as a spanish killer, since he is latino and with what Sam Raimi and Marvel did to DR Strange and The Mulitverse of Madness, ooooooooooh I think they can definetely goooooo there in the bloody mature rating part. and I would LOVE to see the second season with that rating.

I agree with you guys. Marvel did a fantastic job of bringing new content to the MCU. DID, Egyptian mythology and two brand new Marvel heroes, Moon Knight and the Scarlet Scarab. But if you ask me, I wanted to see more Moon Knight in action. There was actually a lot of action, but we didn’t get to see it! Wtf??? They definitely need to give us more Moon Knight, either in a second season or in a movie.
Layla's outfit/wings are styled like the Egyptian goddess Isis (who is also known to be the goddess of the moon 🌙👌🏽 )

THEORY #1 = Steven and Jake were created at the same time - Steven to be the happy nerd and Jake to take all the abuse from mom year after year after year. I think all that abuse has pushed Jake to the extreme anger/violence path making him the perfect assassin for Khonshu. I think there was a split second in that scene before they got their ass whooped in the last episode when Steven switched to Jake to take that beating and all the other beatings.
THEORY @2 = The red standing sarcophagus remaining LOCKED was a deliberate choice - Marc/Steven aren't aware of Jake or of what he's capable bc he's so angry/violent. That darkness remains locked away from both of them. I think it could be Jake back in episode 1 who killed those villager men...and during that car chase.
AND I think Khonshu is playing WORD GAMES!! Both of them (Marc/Steven) got released while Khonshu maintained an agreement w/their most willing alter bc Jake likes killing and Khonshu needs a killer in the name of justice. Marc/Steven remain relatively unaware. Sneaky vulture indeed.
QUESTION: What if Jake was the original one who made the agreement w/Khonshu??? Or an alternate agreement saying even if Marc/Steven bounce he's in no matter what????
I don't think Jake was the one to make the original agreement to be the Avatar. Because we saw that temple scene through Marc's eyes. If Marc wasn't the one to make that agreement, he wouldn't have that memory, i think.

I think for a live adaptation it overall was great. Improvements can definitely be made tho and my issues are more surrounded towards the 6 episodes because with more content they definitely could’ve made what I viewed as mistakes come to light. I’m fine with all the changes they made from the comics to the MCU.

Cons: Needed more scenes to breathe especially the last ep. Lack of Jewish/Judaism aspects of the character. Only 6 episodes. The rating lol. Wanted more insight on Arthur’s motives.
Pros: Great way of storytelling overall. Loved the horror elements. Oscar Isaac’s performance. Character development. Loved Layla’s character. Pacing overall was great to me. The mystery elements. Actually seeing the Gods. Rewatchability.

My only things with the episode was I wasn't feeling the fight between the gods, and how easily Layla traveled with Harrow's crew. It does feel kinda rushed, but I was okay with that. On episode 3 I felt like it dragged though. My favorite part of this episode was the jumping back and forth between Moon Knight/Marc & Mr. Knight/Steven, and basically how they treat each other now. Also the realization that they have to share one heart, even though they are two different identities in the same body. The scene in the credits was wonderful though. I'm really not wondering anything else other than Jake's origin and how he fits into the whole. And I guess also how Marc & Steven will be able to use Konshu's powers in the future.
They didn't show it, but I think the reason why Layla could travel with the crew is because in the beginning she killed one crew member and took their place. It's the only thing that makes sense, and remove that particular complaint from me seeing it that way.

I'm not criticizing anyone for how they feel about the show, but it really feels like RJ in particular was too focused on how close the show was to the comics, and I totally understand that it's a difficult thing to try to watch a show or film as a fan of the original work and keep an open mind to how they adapt it - I've been guilty of it myself at times. What I try to focus on is how true the characters are to the original work... I've found that if they can nail the characters, then I'm willing to give them more leeway with other changes they make.

The acting of Oscar Isaac alone makes me give this a 9, but the writing is good as well. The way the Khonsu warped the minds of Steve/Marc/Jake makes him one of the most dangerous entities in the comic universe. He can lock your mind in a mental hospital or make you think that you've gone back to your "normal" life in your apartment with your best "invisible friend". And in the last episode....the way that Steve didn't notice Jake's accent change when he pointed how the bloody footsteps! Khonsu is not just the god of the night, he is the god of gaslighting.

Great reaction guys. I also had mixed feelings about this last episode. I really wanted to love it but it was a bit underwhelming. The end credits scene was great though. I think they should do a movie to showcase all the Jake Lockley back story. Maybe do some flashbacks and show us all those blackout fights that they couldn't show on Disney+. I did enjoy the series though, and Oscar Isaac's acting is next level.

We finally get JAke!!!!!! Which is funny because we have seen all the seeds planted of him being there. Jake is the true hand of vengeance now and it makes sense because he is the most violent of all the alters. Nice little bow they put on this season. Obviously I Wonder Woman vibes so we waiting on those comparisons. Golden wings are beautiful I love that moon knight is the batman and she is the Wonder Woman that’s dope. In the beginning Marc and Steven are fighting each other now they are helping each other to fight switching from mr knight and moon knight. I wonder if they will have a separate suit for jake. Khonshu did Marc and Steven dirty because he is a manipulator oh yeah I will release you sure…. You got no idea about this other alter you have let me latch onto him. I like that Layla being an avatar sort of protects her. Let’s say jake didn’t exist khonshu still can’t take her after releasing Marc because she is already an avatar to another god.

I think they kind of dropped the ball after the last episode. They needed a couple more episodes to really flesh out the story. Layla is such a great character but they gave her too much plot armor. In this same vain, the stakes were not high enough in my opinion and the acting got a little too cartoonish in the last episode. Overall Oscar and Ethan's acting really carried the show. Without them I do not believe the season would have been as good as it was.
They need to bring Oscar back for this role. Episode 5 on its own was Emmy worthy just by itself.
Disagree. There could definitely be improvements overall they stuck the landing Imo.

@@biashacker I agree they played it a bit safe, but I think they felt they had to. Everyone's saying this is a big divergence from what they usually do; and I don't think it's a coincidence that Disney's tweets went from "series finale" to "season finale" for this; they were testing the waters, saw the overwhelming positive reaction through Ep 5, and must have greenlit S2/other MK projects before this finale aired. Also understand Isaac only signing on for 1 season to see how it goes, then with all the accolades he's been gettting (and will continue to get), hopefully he agrees to other projects; suspect he already did, due to Disney's tweet change.

If a known liar told you the person next to you stole your bag, a person he always accuses of stealing stuff, would you believe that person? I doubt it. Hathor did point Khonshu and Marc in the direction to find more evidence, so one god did give him the benefit of the doubt.

I get why Marc didn't want to do it--he made it to the field of reeds and was judged innocent by the gods. Everything he had done before death was judged just. He wanted to wash his hands of his past and start anew. I get it. BUT, knowing what he does, he probably should have followed through. He knows how dangerous Ammit is, Arthur too.
24:15 The license plate "SPKTR" almost certainly has a double meaning here. Yes, it's a nod to Marc Spector, but also Jake Lockley who is the unseen specter always saving Steven and Marc when things go south. The people at the hospital didn't see him come in and I bet no one will be able to describe him to the authorities later on either.
24:23 Why does that matter? Steven is Marc's childhood hero. For all we know Jake Lockley is based on a different movie character. What if that movie has a character named Jake Lockley, but was a Spanish dubbed film? What if Jake was adopted? What if Jake just chooses to speak Spanish? I don't really care, myself. Having him as a Spanish speak, allows Oscar to change things up again when we see all three on screen at the same time. But more importantly, Spanish speaking folks got their own superhero in this episode too =)
I think Moon Knight stuck the landing! I enjoyed all Disney Plus shows, but I enjoyed this one the most. The last three tie together than WandaVision did, IMHO and the the battle here was epic! Who thought we'd see two gods going at it?! Who thought Ammit or Taweret would look so good on screen?! Khonshu too, but Ammit and Taweret stole the show in looks, IMHO.
I feel sorry for every show following this one. The bar has been set high. Very. High. I don't think we'll be getting any stinkers, the MCU knows what it's doing, but I don't know if it'll be as mysterious or as good as this one was. My fingers are crossed though.

I honestly believe that this is Marvel Studios testing waters about Marc Spectre/Moon Knight split personalities and preparing us for The Sentry. If you think Marc is bad wait till y’all meet Robert Reynolds/ The Sentry. Dude all fucked up in the head. His alter ego the Void one of most powerful beings in Marvel history. Dude hearing is so sensitive he can hear a butterflies heartbeat from NY to Africa. He’s also a member of the Dark Avengers that Marvel is deep in development with.

Lol- EVERYONE thinks he speaks Spanish- but Marc and Steven are both bilingual. Marc may be multilingual, we just haven’t seen him need to use any other languages than English, and whatever they were speaking in Egypt.
13:28 I don't think Moon Knight got flight. Khonshu pulled him upwards towards the moon, and then dropped him. Moon Knight then used his cape to glide down towards the pyramid, like a regular person wearing a wingsuit. It's why Moon Knight ended up landing midway down the side of the pyramid, instead of just landing next to Harrow.
Also, later, Harrow and Moon Knight get knocked off the top of the pyramid and have to glide down to the streets below. Harrow was grabbing onto Moon Knight while they fell, and Marc and Steven tried switching out mid-glide to get rid of Harrow. It's why they crash-landed; Moon Knight cannot actually fly, just glide.
14:45 Layla's costume uses the design elements of the winged scarab they've been using to track Ammit. I agree it was a bit confusing because Taweret hasn't been shown in a winged form (like winged Isis and winged Ma'at).
The only thing I can think of to reconcile that discrepancy is that winged scarab amulets are meant to ensure the rebirth of the deceased. Taweret is the goddess of childbirth, so there seems to be a procedural connection between Taweret and winged scarabs.

I have my little gripes with the season but overall this is by far my favorite marvel disney+ show followed super closely by wandavision. I really hope May Calamawy and Oscar Isaac come back and let these characters' stories continue through them. btw I think the wings on Layla's avatar costume are made to look like the little golden scarab that was leading them all to Ammit's tomb. She's our Scarlet Scarab :D oh and I understand the falcon comparison bc of the wings at first but she's a goddess' avatar so i'm pretty sure she has super strength and healing and maybe other powers. Falcon couldn't really compare hhh but i'm not dissing him, I love Sam Wilson lol
I think viewers have to stop expecting all Marvel shows and movies to FEEL and look the same. None of these books or stories even come from the same genre of Marvel so they shouldnt be expected to be similar. One thing that would have been awesome is if the avatar for Bast would have shown themselves whoever the new BP is.

This is Disney +. Moon Knight pushed boundaries with the violence. Gun to the head? Ep 5 was the best of the season. So much heart. You have to realize it was 6 eps. I think you guys are just too action driven. This was more than a 'superhero show'
So…for me…the weak link in this series is Layla. I felt like the episodes with her were the weakest. But watching this episode again through ya’ll eyes I liked her a little bit better during the last episode. Outside of her, I loved this series. I think it’s my favorite Disney plus show. Thanks guys. So much fun watching this again with ya’ll.
