No, that 3rd personality developed when Marc was a child. He was the one taking the beatings from his mom. Notice how in the flashbacks Marc switched to Steven when his mom was about to beat him, but Steven never had a bad impression of his mom, so there must have been a 3rd personality that Steven switched to that was taking those beatings. But Mark was aware of the physical abuse as well. Jake being developed during Mark's time in the military makes more sense since in episode 5 Mark mentions that he went AWOL in a fugue state, which is why he was discharged from the military.
@@NemeticSage Yeah, but going AWOL doesn't imply anything either. He could have just switched to Steven (or Jake) and walked away from the military because he didn't actually know he was part of the military. The only persona that we know of who has military training is Marc. To me it just makes sense that Jake took most of the physical abuse because child abuse is a big contributor to violence and criminality later in life. Jake also showed up in the hospital in an earlier episode, he was the personality who had a bandage on his nose and looked like he was just beaten up. Whereas both Mark and Steven didn't have any marks or bruises when they were in the office. It may have been the imaginary orderlies who beat him up, but I think it was implying that Jake was the personality who is used to taking a beating.
My only problem with that is the fact that Marc remembers the beatings. Their memories are segmented. So Marc can remember things that Steven can't and vice versa for the other two. If Jake was created to take the beatings then Marc wouldn't have any memory of them, just like Steven doesn't. Now it is possible that the personality was created while he was a kid, but never manifested or took control until now. The reason why Ammit is more powerful is that she has more worshippers. The other gods don't get involved with human affairs so they may have power but can't utilize it fully

Tip of the hat to you Sheera! You were the only reactor I've watched that realized Conshu conned Marc and Steven into thinking they were free when Jake was still committed to being his avatar.
Well, Jake speaking Spanish is a nod to Oscar Isaac's roots (He's born in Guatemala, his father is Cuban so he's half Guatemalan, half Cuban). And Layla's superhero character is a nod to the Scarlet Scarab in the comics. I hope he appears in Blade though, which could help setup the Midnight Sons (if they intend to do it).

Only thing was I wish we saw some more jake moments in the final minutes like a montage but otherwise a perfect ride for me. Hope for a S2 and thanks for reacting to it guys
Exactly. I don’t understand how people say this episode was bad because it was short. I got everything I needed me just cuz it’s fast paced doesn’t mean it’s rushed
Jake: You mentioned Jake being created when Marc was a mercenary, but Jake was likely created way earlier. Did you notice how Marc hustles Steven out of the memory room when the mom comes in so Steven won't see the beating--but Marc also leaves and misses it. As he created Steve on that day, he possibly created Jake, the tough mean guy, also. Created him to take the abuse. Marc would have memories of being abused prior to that, but possibly from age 12 on he may have had black outs when the abuse got physical, as Jake would come out. As we see, he always has black outs whenever Jake is in charge. Marc, as a mercenary, has killed, but he has a conscience about who and why he kills. Jake doesn't. He's the one who appears when you need someone ruthless.
but if jake came out when he was being beat, then jake would retaliate. jake is a lot more physical and as shown in the after credits, it seemed like he even killed those nurses. marc has full memory of the abuse which is why at a certain point, it got bad enough that he left his home. i think jake may have came into being while he was in the army and had to follow orders to kill probably and like you said, marc has a conscience and didnt handle that well. in a previous ep he mentions how he was discharged or left the army because he went awol. he gave no other info but marc isnt the type to go awol, thats why i think that might have been when jake came in. part of me also feels like it was jake who beat up those ppl in Alps cuz other than that moment, we havent seen marc kill anyone at all, so that had to have been jake. marc probably started that mission, steven got stuck in the middle, and then jake came in for the massacre, and then marc finished it. marc didnt see any bodies from the fight, as far as he would know, steven ran and got into a car wreck.
@@adisaster8734 not necessarily. Since Jane would have still been a child. You’d be surprised by the amount of violent people who have abusive parents and do nothing about it
@@adisaster8734 I think you're wrong. I think Jake did come out when Marc was beaten as a child; but you have to look at this the right way to understand WHY Jake might have appeared then and not have violently retaliated against mom. (1) In abusive families, beatings like these stay secret; it's a family affair. (2) Marc also believes what his mom is saying, that he killed his brother and deserves punishment for it. But however much Marc might believe that, in DID situations like this, "protectors" are created to help the child survive mental, emotional and even physical abuse. Jake is the protector against the actual physical abuse. We even get clues to this. Marc & Steven wake up to after Jake's taken over with wounds, but don't remember being hit. Note, especially, the bandaid on Jake's nose but not Marc's in the psyche ward afterlife. 3 souls each displaying their own personality in that room with Dr. Harrow...and Jake is the ONLY one with injuries. Jake does and can take a lot of abuse; that, I would argue, was his ORIGINAL purpose. Take it, but not, ORIGINALLY, retaliate because getting violent on mom would have landed her in the hospital, ended the secret and destroyed the family. It also would have landed Marc in juvenile detention and then a psyche ward. Do you think Jake is stupid enough to let that happen? But yes, he evolved over time from just "Take the beating" to "Make sure no one beats you like that again." Absolutely, by Marc's time in the Army if not before, Jake learned every way to defend himself and kill abusers. And Jake is still a protector identity, because, as you point out, he saves Marc and Steven not only with his violence and murder, but keeps them from feeling any hurt during those fights, AND from seeing or remembering that violence and murder. Why is so hard to believe that he was created during that abusive childhood to do something very similar--keep them from feeling the hurt AND from feeling like they deserved to be called a killer?
i'm so upset this show was only set to be a one off with no sequel. The reaction has been insanely positive and the director is also pushing for more so I'm remaining positive that we will get a season 2 or a movie, something to keep this character around.
It’s not a one off though. It is going to be a season two. Marvel lowkey confirmed it when they changed series finale to season finale in their promotional stuff.
@@lujerex as of now it is a one off because thats how it was filmed and to this date there has been no confirmation of any continuation and people involved talking about wanting more
Disney just needs to work with Oscar Isaac and find out what he wants in order to be comfortable with a long term contract. I'm sure it's not just money. I think he wants some say in what shows/movies he does.
I don't mind it being one off. Based on experience, the 2nd season probably won't be as good. It probably going to be disappointing because they used up all their good ideas on season 1
Y'all nailed that analysis of Jake's origin. I think he comes from his military side as a coping mechanism for PTSD. Signs of PTSD also include full-blown blackouts, and Marc said he "blacked out." Jake is essentially a PTSD-DID, aka damn near The Punisher with powers.
Generally alters form at childhood as this is where a humans personality can most easily split. After 10 generally alters can’t develop,so Jake must have been formed when he was young.”Old” alters can “pop out” after traumatic events like war though
@@BlondedOcean.mp3 while that's true, if someone is already a candidate for DID, and put in other extreme situations...there is a much higher chance of it happening regardless of age.
@@BlondedOcean.mp3 The initial splits and formation of DID has to happen in early childhood (9 at the very latest), but major stress or trauma can definitely cause additional splits. Since the disorder is a way of reconfiguring the damaged brain to cope better and maintain a relatively stable life, alters can split or integrate as needed (though not on command) to stay functional. For example, if Steven broke down completely after finding out about their childhood another alter could split to be the "normal"/not traumatized one
I actually love the "black out" scenes. I might be in the minority when I say this though. It's so interesting and makes you fill in the gap since we never get to see what transpired, only the aftermath.
11:35 To Sheera: Basically under Ammit's rule, if there's a chance in the future you would choose evil she'll judge you now. With Khonshu yeah there's victims but if someone chooses not to murder their partner's mistress in a jealous rage he'll not kill them. Because they chose not to commit evil deeds
Oscar Issac only signed on for 1season because Marvel stopped signing multi-project deals with actors allowing them more flexibilty and not tying them down under deals anymore. But we will definitely see him again.
Two things about Jake. In the comics, Marc faked his death and flees to Mexico as Jake. He probably learned Spanish there. Also I think his suit was shown in the mid credits before they go into the mid credit scenes.
Yes glad I'm not the only comic book moon knight fanboy. You're right about Taxi driver or limo driver we see here in Jake. Also Randall Spector the brother who dies is the moon knight villain shadow Knight one of his archenemies. Furthermore, Sun King aka Arthur Harrow was the avatar of RA who's Knonshus father hence the cult and all that sorta stuff. Ethan Hawke looks like Sun King with the hair style and everything even the goatee at the end. Hopefully season 2 they do Bushman who killed Marc when he set him up and left him and the archaeologists at the site for dead they hinted at in episode 5 he's gotta be the villain surely
I just love watching Khonshu move. That glitching dash that he does in the fight, his entrance forming from dust, and his teleportation of shrinking into nothingness are all just so cool looking.
Similarly the comic series this draws inspiration from, you aren't really supposed to know which reality is the "true reality". The show did a great job at putting you inside Marc's head. Also I really recommend to Lupa and anyone else now that the show is done to read Moon Knight Volume 1: Lunatic - By Jeff Lemire. It's such a great series and allows you to explore the character even if you don't know much about
I want Bushman for season 2 villain he was name dropped I got so excited and screamed when they said that. Randall Spector being the Shadow Knight in the comics too as a mirror match villain and they're brothers would be dope. Midnight Man could be a good other side villain too
It's in the comics bro, Marc fakes his death and under Jake he goes to Mexico where he learns Spanish and becomes a cab driver, in the MCU series a limo driver. This way he can keep his ear to the ground and keep track off criminal activities in the streets and what not, very good at gaining intel and he also has the serial killer vibe to him
So there were a lot of hints to Jake existing but the biggest one was during episode 5. Marc said that the point of Steven was for part of him to believe that their mom actually loved them and wasn't abusive. We see the scene where, as a child, Steven takes over when Marc ran up into his room and his mom enters the room after him and is about to beat him with the belt. Marc had dissociated to get away from the stress of that situation but it wouldn't make sense for Steven to be the one to take the beatings. For people with actual dissociative identity disorder, personalities that take over specifically to take the abuse are sometimes referred to as the Protector personality and it very likely that Jake took over for Steven in that moment between Steven cleaning up the room and his Mom beating him with the belt. Jake as the Protector also fits those moments when Steven blacked out multiple times in the first episode.
THAT was the biggest? Not the time he blacked out in episode 3 and Steven and Marc claimed it wasn’t either of them? Or episode 4 with the second sarcophagus? What you said wasn’t even a hint, but your speculation.
@@ThePenpachi Biggest was probably the wrong word there. Deeper would fit better. The times you mentioned were absolutely hints that there was something messed up going on, though it was a bit filtered through the distrust Steven had towards Marc.
Disney put out a tweet about episode 6 being the "series" finale, then they took the tweet down and put back up a tweet talking about it being the "season" finale. So it's probably getting a season 2.
Raoul Bushman aka Bushman needs to be the villain for season 2 he's the Archenemy of Moon Knight that set him up and left him for dead in the comics when they were part of a mercenary team that you saw in episode 5 and he even got name dropped in the same screen. Randall Spector who's Marc brother is also one of Moon Knights biggest Villains aka Shadow Knight who's a mirror match type villain. Like Batman/Owlman, Iron Man/ Iron Monger. Midnight Man is another villain, we have seen Arthur Harrow aka the Sun King in this season so yeah here's hoping to more I'm a die hard moon knight comic fan so happy he's getting recognised and getting the adulation he deserves, he's mainly a niche character now he's gone mainstream
While I'm no expert on DID, I'm pretty sure alters manifest as a defence mechanism for trauma. So Steven manifested as a way to forget his brother's death and mother's abuse so that he could live a happy life. That's why Steven is such a pacifist. Jake on the other hand likely manifested as the opposite of that: he's Marc's violence, his anger lashing out to protect himself. Its a bit like fight or flight: Jake is fight and Steven is flight.
i thought of the end of Aladdin when Jafar gets tricked into becoming a genie so they can trap him in a lamp. "Phenomenal Cosmic Power! Itty Bitty Living Space"
Ok so i think i got it. Marc split into steven as a way to cope and then steven split into jake in order to deal with the beatings. Steven is the emotional shield jake is the protector of the body.
I definitely enjoyed this show, but I don't love the 6 episode 35-40 minutes structure. I'm not comparing the D+ Shows to the Netflix ones, but the structure of those shows worked much better for me. Even though they can't do the 13 episodes, they can go The Mandalorian route and do 8 episodes at least. I feel like when you have such a short length to work with, but such a big story in scope to tell, sometimes characters can fall by the wayside. However I will say that one of the benefits to having an MCU is that you can continue the story of characters in other projects. So hopefully we get to see more of Moon knight, and Layla in particular🙌🏾
I’d love for a Moon Knight cameo in Avengers. I wanna see them struggling with someone, and Steven comes in with the clubs, chaining into Marc with the crescent moon stabs, and Jake finishes them off with a hot one between the eyes.
The acting of Oscar Isaac alone makes me give this a 9, but the writing is good as well. The way the Khonsu warped the minds of Steve/Marc/Jake makes him one of the most dangerous entities in the comic universe. He can lock your mind in a mental hospital or make you think that you've gone back to your "normal" life in your apartment with your best "invisible friend". And in the last episode....the way that Steve didn't notice Jake's accent change when he pointed how the bloody footsteps! Khonsu is not just the god of the night, he is the god of gaslighting.
Even though they didn’t show what happened I personally believe that Jake has the ability to transmute himself and become intangible like a Spectre which is how he was able to get from under the staff and because he has the ability not to be touched but can touch other people at will is how he was able to kill everybody brutally and then give back the body to Mark and Steven. Think Doctor Strange and the Astro plane, Astro projecting himself or being intangible at will but with the ability to affect things around him. Which makes him the most brutal and effective killer out of the three of them.
I heard a lot of people talking about the twitter change but personally I believe that to be more of a thing to do with Marc's american accent and Steve's british one because series in the UK means the same as season in America.
Moon knight is apart of the Midnight Sons team in the comics. It’s a supernatural team/avengers that’s composed of doctor strange, blade, and punisher, just to name a few members. We could see this being adapted in the MCU eventually and we’ll see moon knight in this team
i said the same thing about Khonshu and someone wanted to get onto me about it lol, Khonshu was getting his ass beat before, during, and after that whole fight, like damn no wonder you need an avatar to fight for you, and people prayed for you to protect them ToT lol. Hope we get some news about the future Moon Knight stuff like, asap.
And that is why Moonknight is an anti-hero coz of Jake LOL. This is a full on psychological tv series of how to handle depression and suppression of hate. Loved it.
The show's director, Mohamed Diab, said he wants a second season, let's hope it happens cuz honestly that was probs the only marvel thing that has grabbed my attention lately.
love jakes attitude i thought it was like an ammit worshipper at first breaking him out or something but the way he just threw harrow into the car and then kicked the wheelchair after just made me laugh
I think they wanted to see how people react to MK and see if people like the show and then see where to go with that character. Even Oscar said he'll return if people like it and want more (he doesn't want that "golden handcuffs", aka contract, because of his bad experience with Star Wars and X Men Apocalypse) We just have to wait for news on MK.
I loved your reactions as usual. Remember when Khonshu laughed at Marc and teased him about thinking he owned the body. The series finally introduced the main 3 personas and if the series continues and does the storyline I’m theorizing about…it will be some ..ish. I look forward to your next reaction to the MCU.
The field of reeds and the duat... BOTH are manifestations... that's why Marc was in the field of reeds last episode and was near Steven - "just like that". His heart brought him there. LISTEN TO HIPPO's dialogues y'all...
In the reflection of the tv, during the fight with harrow. I love how the reflection showed Steven as Steven was fighting, that shows that Marc let him have his turn
that "WAS" Jake with the new york accent in the hospital office with harrow in the last 2 episodes, also in the jeep in episode 4 talking to Layla, and also fighting with the Alexander Axe just before Harrow shot him!!!!!
Ive always been wondering this. Ik Marc, Steven, Jake are his main ones (Moon Knight and Mr. Knight too) but what other alters does he have? Like how many?
@@terencesdurag2823 There's also Mr. Knight, a combination of Steven and the Moon Knight persona which Mark uses when he's doing detective work (in the comics), but that's as far as my knowledge goes about other personalities.
Lol they're Jewish by faith, but I think they can still be Latin by ethnicity, idk for sure tho. But also lol Steven is still clearly into Layla, he's very sweet with her. I wonder how the relationship will be addressed? Will Steven start to "date" Layla while Marc is already married to her? She probably would want nothing to do with Jake after he's revealed. I also like how Marc & Steven grew to love and care about each other, see each other as equals, it made Marc more like-able for me.
what i like about layla's new costume is the fact it looks like the scarab, allowing her to live up to the nickname her father gave "My little scarab", not only that but her with the wings remind me of the egypt flag, to remind us she literally is egypt's first superhero as for marc, i dont think khonshu ever really wanted marc or steven, they were a package deal for him. What he truly wanted as his avatar was Jake, which was why he seemed really unbothered with letting the other 2 go
In the comics there are way more personalities too, which MCU will probably introduce or not but because this is the first appearance they are introducing base 3 versions. He has even developed personalities based off Spiderman, Wolverine and Captain America.
Oh we definitely going to see him again, and i believe sooner rather than later, October 2022 Halloween special on Disney plus called "Warewolf by night" we will see Moon Knight make a cameo, and i think they will make a season 2, cause in the official Marvel page they had said "Series Finale" and then they deleted it and changed it to "Season Finale" also Oscar Isaac only signed for 1 season so that way if the show does well and the characters are well received by fans he and his team can renegotiate for more money and a better contract, he didn't want to be as he put it "Handcuffed to Marvel/Disney's Golden Hancuffs" which imo was a super smart move on his part cause he knew deep down he was gonna murder this role and go off specially with all the freedom they gave him and he was allowed to come up with ideas and changes to these characters as he saw fit, hence why that 3rd alter Jake spoke Spanish at the end, cause in the Comics Jake doesn't speak Spanish although he is a New York City cab driver, here they have him driving a Limo which in the comics that's Mr.Knights Limo, also since Oscar is Latino, Half Cuban and Guatamalan its kinda cool they added that to the character in honor of Oscars Latino background, i'm a fan of the 80's Moon Knight comics and i honestly loved and enjoyed a lot of the changes they made to this series, and i feel they tackled the D.I.D topic very well and respectfully.
My theory is that Jake came into the game during Marc's time in the Military. Marc mentioned he got discharged for "going AWOL in a fugue state", but he must have needed Jake to deal with wartime trauma just as he needed Steven to deal with his personal trauma. I believe Jake is the one that's actually down af to be MoonKnight so its gonna be hard for them other two. Konshu said he would "release [them] both", knowing damn well Jake was his real champion the whole time. Dude wants ALL the smoke
his contract was a one and done, but it was did that way so he wouldn't be tied down. He is a member of the midnight suns and is suppose to interact with Blade and werewolf by night for the Halloween special

I thought its cause jake lives in mexico
Seems like Marc/Steve/Jake are jewish-latinos, Oscar Isaac did say something about portraying Marc's judaism from a poc angle
does Scarlett Scarab stick around because she is dope?

Episode was insane, had everything. The kaiju fight, Egyptian representation, twists making you confused as hell like moon knight does. Only thing was I wish we saw some more jake moments in the final minutes like a montage but otherwise a perfect ride for me. Hope for a S2 and thanks for reacting to it guys
I hope -if they ever make s2 they focused on Jake and maybe give us glimpses of when he took over in S1 that's be really cool
Lol the moment I read kaiju fight I started to laugh uncontrolably
Exactly. I don’t understand how people say this episode was bad because it was short. I got everything I needed me just cuz it’s fast paced doesn’t mean it’s rushed
I loved the "Are you an Egyptian superhero?" moment.
Yeah so in the comics Jake Lockley is a New York cab driver. You could say he's the brawler out of the 3. He's definitely the most violent.
You’d be surprised by the amount of violent people who have abusive parents and do nothing about it
It would’ve been a cool twist if we found out Jake is the one who killed his mom
That could explain why Steven has no memories of being beaten even though he was who we last saw before closing the door
i'm so upset this show was only set to be a one off with no sequel.
@@agentsculder2451 imo his performance earned him to be a mainstay / face of the new mcu i.e. what rdj or evans was for the infinity saga
@@crinjal_mrp Only she would probably be fair while the Helicarrier Algorithm was most definetly Hydra-focused.
I tell you, watching Steven kick ass and dust himself off during a fight is one of the best things I've ever watched.
“He’s not a bad guy he just does what needs to be done”
**kicks wheelchair out of sheer anger**
Jake be like: “You gonna be in Spain, but without the S”
By far the best MCU show. Oscar Isaac absolutely killed it.
It's okay.
I just love watching Khonshu move. That glitching dash that he does in the fight, his entrance forming from dust, and his teleportation of shrinking into nothingness are all just so cool looking.
When I was watching this episode's godly fight I was waiting for Ozymandias to appear out of no where and say "ZA WARUDO!! TOKIO TOMARE!!!"
Yeeeeeaaahhh? Fate and JoJo reference???
Midnight Man could be a good other side villain too
Moon knight was so dope as well as the vids on it👌made me find a new found love for the characters
Jake be handing out that Roshi Justice
“Oh, the blicky” is still the single best reaction to Jake Lockley I’ve seen yet
I love the fact that they included Oscar Isaacs Latin roots for Jake Lockley
@@ThePenpachi Episode 3 and 4 were definitely the biggest hints lol
Sheera needs to become as screenwriter. She correctly predicts plot elements more than any other reactor I watch. She's so genre savvy.
i thought of the end of Aladdin when Jafar gets tricked into becoming a genie so they can trap him in a lamp. "Phenomenal Cosmic Power! Itty Bitty Living Space"
Wow sherra really pays attention She figured out the end after seeing one scene CRAZY
The actor is amazing. He can speak in an american accent, a good british accent and spanish. That's impressive!
My brain is tired and you cracked that “Field of Reads” joke and I laughed harder than I should have.
LMAO, when I saw the episode I KNEW lupa would do the dead woman with bent leg pose, love you guys so much 😂😂
Ok so i think i got it.
"Field of Reads" - Don't threaten me with a good time 🙂
The reval Jake Lockley was so amazing just done well
Really enjoyed the series. Thanks for your reactions!!
Jake really giving big brother vibes. Marc is the middle child and Steven is the youngest.
It’s the last Moonknight Thursday 😭
Even though they didn’t show what happened I personally believe that Jake has the ability to transmute himself and become intangible like a Spectre which is how he was able to get from under the staff and because he has the ability not to be touched but can touch other people at will is how he was able to kill everybody brutally and then give back the body to Mark and Steven. Think Doctor Strange and the Astro plane, Astro projecting himself or being intangible at will but with the ability to affect things around him. Which makes him the most brutal and effective killer out of the three of them.
Can't wait for season 2.😍

And that is why Moonknight is an anti-hero coz of Jake LOL. This is a full on psychological tv series of how to handle depression and suppression of hate. Loved it.
Sheera is completely right. Marc and Steven were free from it. But Jake likes doing what he does.
The show's director, Mohamed Diab, said he wants a second season, let's hope it happens cuz honestly that was probs the only marvel thing that has grabbed my attention lately.
Steven’s fighting was so smooth, he was really checking himself out with that one scene too 😂
The fight choreography and switch between Mark and Steven were seamless.
love jakes attitude i thought it was like an ammit worshipper at first breaking him out or something but the way he just threw harrow into the car and then kicked the wheelchair after just made me laugh
That “Dwayne!!” bit at the end took me out bro!!! 😂
Harrow: we have so many followers who can become your avatar who's scales are balanced
Sheera: he's so desperate to become an avatar again
The field of reeds and the duat... BOTH are manifestations... that's why Marc was in the field of reeds last episode and was near Steven - "just like that". His heart brought him there. LISTEN TO HIPPO's dialogues y'all...
In the reflection of the tv, during the fight with harrow. I love how the reflection showed Steven as Steven was fighting, that shows that Marc let him have his turn

Fun fact: Marc even has other personalities based off of Spider-Man, Captain America, and even Wolverine.
@@MrTheil Hm ok thank you!
Jewish is a religion, but apparently it’s a race too.
what i like about layla's new costume is the fact it looks like the scarab, allowing her to live up to the nickname her father gave "My little scarab", not only that but her with the wings remind me of the egypt flag, to remind us she literally is egypt's first superhero
as for marc, i dont think khonshu ever really wanted marc or steven, they were a package deal for him. What he truly wanted as his avatar was Jake, which was why he seemed really unbothered with letting the other 2 go
Sheeragan is unmatched! Holy!
Great series and reaction. Fun Fact: Layla superhero name is Scarlet Scarab. In the comics, he is a 70s hero that is the champion of Egypt.
Shout out to Stephen for actually holding down in a fight. He my man even had enough swag to dust off his jacket in mid of the fight

My boy, Steven, got all the drip in this episode. An amazing series. Love it from the beginning till the end
In Moon Knight if you become an Avatar, everybody is blessed with the Drip.
