Fantastic, thanks Brad. I’ve very quickly gotten to the ‘too many brushes’ point with Procreate. Would love to see how you manage brushes so you don’t have to go hunting when you’re in the flow. Love my Paperlike!
I thought I was having a mandela effect with your name. I was worried it was Cowboy all this time and I misread it as Colbow. Found that you just changed it haha
Gouache is actually super easy to use. Imagine acrylic that you can add a ton of water to to make it washed out. And if you add very little water theres tons of punchy pigment. I love it! And my jelly gouache set is super handy to use
I don't have an iPad but I'm watching this because I like Brad's drawings and reviews Edit: this is the first time I have 10 likes Edit 2: OK that's enough likes I'm tired of getting notifications from this
I'm simple. I like the dry brush with some modifications for all my sketching and line work because it's the closest thing i have ever found to a pencil or pen. Then I use the studio brush to color everything in.
Who else likes n misses his old set up? also love your content bro. Been watching most of your tablet and pen display reviews believe it or not :3. Your reviews are pretty solid in my opinion. Kudos to you my friend :)
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video! I've been looking for reliable places to get downloadable procreate brushes and this truly helped so much!!!! I really enjoy all your content, it inspires me to improve and try different things in digital drawing!!! Please keep doing what you're doing!!! Thank you again and have a nice day!!!

You should do a smack down (comparison) between the Galaxy Book Flex and iPad Pro. I know most people out there want to know how good is the book flex compared to ipad pro for digital painting
Regarding brushes in general. I have a LOT of them but am often struggling to find a good way of organizing them for easy access - would really like to have the possibility to add brush sets into categories - do you have any good advice on how to organize the brushes?
Hey Brad, I was wondering if there is an update on when we might see a review for the new Huion Kamvas 24 pro? I believe that last time you mentioned it in a video, you thought that you would have it up in early July. Thank you for all of the great content. I'm depending on it to help me decide which graphics tablet to finally pull the trigger on.
Hey, Cowboy. (If that is your real name.) I just recently picked up a set of pretty realistic watercolor brushes from Creative Market called Realistic Procreate Watercolor Kit by Katsia Jazwinska. It isn’t free but it’s quite affordable and takes advantage of Procreate 5’s newest brush engines. I’d say they’re pretty darn convincing, especially with the included high-res Procreate document with textured paper and imperfections layers. And she’s working on adding newer paper textures for recent purchasers. Plus she has a gouache kit that’s pretty amazing. I haven’t bought it (yet), but the screenshots look uncannily authentic.
@Jessi Belle : EVERY aspect of these brushes can be “easily changed” in the brush editor, creating entirely different types of brushes. Brad is discussing THESE SPECIFIC BRUSHES and THEIR SPECIFIC properties, of which, wetness is one of those properties. Asking him to include that factor alongside the many other factors he does discuss is NOT out of line. Your rude remarks ARE out of line, and brad doesn’t need some internet fanboi troll to be his legal defense council. If he has a good reason for leaving wetness out of his review, he can state it, ORR he can take the MINOR criticism I provided and use that in his next review. You, on the other hand, can back off.
Sir this an amateur photo editor and painter and got to know about an app...called clip studio paint...its a paid app but is almost as powerful as procreate...and also its coming on Android tab s7... I hope you will review it.
Regarding paper like... it saved my ipad. I used another screen protector and noticed my lines were no longer smooth. Took awhile before I realized it was the protector. I tried out the paper like, and the lines are perfect! Just like when you do not use a screen protector at all
@Jessi Belle I didn't use a screen protector for the first year of ownership. I'm pretty damn good at taking care of my stuff. Then I noticed a few scratches on the glass. Shocked the hell out of me - I don't know how it happened. Regardless, that's why I started using one. I am extremely careful and still managed to get scratches on a very expensive device. Second, it feels better to draw on the paperlike screen protector than on the glass. To each their own I guess! :)
hey brad, the description on your site about the iPad mini has a grammatical error, i'll paste it here "The Mini is adorable and really really light. It works with the fist generation iPad pencil and every drawing app available on the app store. The drawing performance is just as good as the iPad pro but in a much smaller form factor." not that it's a very bad thing, it's still understandable, im just mentioning it, thanks!
I actually searched Colbow to see if you released a new vid. (Im subbed but RUclips is weird) I ended up searching Cilbow and RUclips said NO RESULTS. Thats how unique the name Colbow is I guess. Then when I searched Colbow viola! I got your vid, but boy was I surprised¡ COwBoY!!! wHat!!?
Gouache is very forgiving and very easy to work with. Check James Gurneys channel. Better, buy a tube of white gouache (Winsor Newton recommended) and use it to tint watercolor paints to see if you like it.

Ergo Josh's (another youtuber) brushes have been my favorite procreate brushes lately! They are ones you have to pay for but totally worth it!
I'm simple. I like the dry brush with some modifications for all my sketching and line work because it's the closest thing i have ever found to a pencil or pen. Then I use the studio brush to color everything in.
I do love Paperlike. I only draw as a hobby and stress relief but it makes it so enjoyable. Even with note apps that use the pencil.
Wish those brushes were still available :(
my absolute favorite brushes are the watercolor maxpack brushes they are amaaaazing

A big factor you seem to be missing in your brush talk is wetness/blend. How the brush picks up color under the brush stroke is massively important.
