My dad passed away 6 months ago. Before he passed he would always ask me to help him with things around the house and car's But things like fixing a sink disposal he never taught me. Our garbage disposable wasn't working and I took it upon me to try to fix it. This video really really helped me a lot. Thank you for taking the time in explaining and showing us how to do it.

Have been without mine working for 2 mos., had to find the wrench that came with, cheap ole thing that I fiddled with for too long. So I dug around and found a good Allen wrench, got it to budge but it wasn't free, dull, tight movement. I slathered liquid detergent in, rotated w/wrench, let is sit a few, rotated again...then I went for it, water / on switch and Shazzzam She's spinning fine! Thanks for being here and all the tips; I did flashlight & paint stick too. I'm happy, real happy!

Thanks so much for this. You just saved me about $550. A repair guy said there was no way to remove the dishcloth jammed in there and we’d need a new unit altogether. I’d already ordered a replacement on Amazon when I found your video. Fifteen minutes later, problem solved.

Yay!! Our disposal had a piece of glass stuck in the blades and I had no idea how to fix it. I was going to call our apartment maintenance but didn’t want them seeing how gross the sink is because of the fact that it wasn’t spinning! After watching this video, I’m proud to say I fixed it and got it to rotate again and it’s never sounded better! 😃 my dad never taught me how to fix up things around the house so I’m very grateful for videos like these! 🥹 thank you 2 years later from a young mom just trying to figure it out! 🙏🏼

Thank you. Threre was a piece of metal jammed between the bottom plate and the wall. It looked hopeless because I couldn't see how the metal could grind up and then flow through the pipes. I knew about the allen key, but what I learned from you is to persist with the back and forth motion. I was giving the wrench a couple of clockwise quarter turns with no change, just a sickening grinding sound. It was that extra back and forth effort that you recommeded that worked the metal object loose. It was one of the biggest comebacks from a "hopeless" situation I've had all year. BTW The object that came out looked like a triangular stainless steel endcap for something. I can't imagine what it was. (Note to viewers: there can be extremely sharp objects, like chicken bone splinters, in the disposal.) Thank you very much. Even though I hardly ever subscribe to anything, I am subscribing to your channel in the hopes that it helps you. Happy holidays Mr. PeanutButterMan !!

Lifesaver! I spent a good hour-hour and a half trying to pull out a long screw from my garbage disposal. And this video was the trick. I did end up having to remove the garbage disposal and turn it upside down due to the fact that the screw was so long. As I worked it back-and-forth the screw backed out and eventually fail. I appreciate the video!

Thank you for this video that saved me from running out to buy another garbage disposal plus a plumber. That chunk of metal you pulled out sure looked like a gnawed up penny? I have no idea "what" the cause was. I had tried to loosen the blockage with a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinager, 15 minute wait followed by dish soap and hot water. No-Go. Used the wrench on the bottom... promising, but No-Go. I then shopped the big box stores for garbage disposals... No-Go. Finally... decided to spray WD-40 inside on all sides, top to bottom and waited. Cranked the wrench again... and it moved more freely. Flipped the switch... PRESTO! Just for good measures.... i ran cold water with soap and icecubes. The color of the foam rising up seemed to show alot of what the heck was having a party down there. Well.... I busted up that party. lol. Thanks so much for this video.

Are you spinning it back/forth underneath while also pulling with pliers from the top? If you've already done that or you try it and it doesn't work then removal and some level of disassembly may be necessary.. Or bigger pliers..

It'll do your heart good to know I unplugged it first this time, and used the needle-nosed pliers, rather than my hand, to fish out the handle after a single, EASY turn of the key freed the sucker. Woot! Thanks a bunch! PS Thanks for mentioning the size so I didn't have to go through the whole lot of them to find which was best.
