      I get it, carnivore is the key to being healthy. But what do you do when you find out that you have alpha gal through a random blood test to try to get to the bottom of your gut issues. My doctor gave me an EpiPen and told me not to eat red meat anymore. This was especially hard on me as I eat venison six months out of the year. I haven’t been able to eat red meat in two years now, and I feel horrible!😭

    Prof Kay is absolutely right about carbs. My body responds negatively on carbs pronto. I wear a CGM and as soon as I even consume half a small potato my BS will go from 5-8 in 1 hour. How disturbing is that. However if I just eat beef with fat, my CGM will move maybe .3-.5. I have type 2 diabetes for 40 years and have come down to prediabetes in 1 year on carnivore. I have come to a normal weight for the first time in my adult life. So I am a carnivore and doing very well.

    As a former Adventist, Loma Linda Adventist are almost all employed by the Hospital or University. They immediately go to doctor for things that the general population would ignore. Therefore they do catch more of the serious diseases very early in its development. Most are not vegan or even strict vegetarian.
    My uncle who taught at Loma Linda and a very strong proponent of veganism bragged that since his father lived to 100 and wasn't a vegan that he expected to live much longer. He died in a hospital of pneumonia at the same age as my mom up in Wala Wala, WA near wheat fields however my mom was cooking her own meals and enjoying meat until she was diagnosed with lymphoma and died a couple of weeks later. Otherwise Adventist communities around their colleges would all be blue zones, they aren't. The biggest longevity in life is due to one simple fact: they don't smoke or drink alcohol. This puts Adventist on the same life expectation as Mormons who don't smoke or drink either.

    Here's a ChatGPT summary:
    - Eating meat and animal fat, avoiding plants, is recommended for reducing inflammation and preventing disease.
    - There is no scientific evidence linking LDL or cholesterol causally to heart disease or atherosclerosis.
    - Omega-3 supplementation is discouraged due to potential rancidity and harmful oxidation products.
    - Zone two endurance and cardiovascular training are not recommended; rethink your sport if it requires such training.
    - Weight loss is difficult if inflamed; resolving inflammation is key to successful weight loss.
    - A correction was made regarding potassium sources: Epsom salt is not a source of potassium; potassium chloride is.
    - An experiment involving increased calorie intake (6,000-6,500 calories/day) resulted in weight loss, challenging the calories in/calories out model.
    - A 90-day dietary experiment led to a 20-pound weight loss, with a return to baseline over 9-10 months due to lifestyle changes.
    - The carnivore diet is recommended, transitioning over 6-8 weeks, with exercise as a lower priority.
    - Low carb can be a gateway to carnivore, but it doesn't fully address dietary needs.
    - Continuous glucose monitoring can help identify carbohydrate tolerance and prevent inflammation.
    - The Randall cycle explains how carbohydrates and fats inhibit each other's metabolism, contributing to inflammation and disease.
    - Breast milk is the only natural food containing all three macronutrients, designed to promote growth in infants.
    - Seed oils are pro-inflammatory and should be avoided; they are linked to increased heart disease.
    - Olive oil contains anti-inflammatory monounsaturated fats but also pro-inflammatory polyunsaturates.
    - Blue zones' longevity claims are questioned due to lack of reliable data and confounding lifestyle factors.
    - The Adventist Health Study showed vegans had higher mortality and disease rates compared to meat-eaters.
    - Quality of meat (grass-fed vs. grain-fed) is less important than avoiding plant-based foods.
    - Eggs and seafood are acceptable in moderation; omega-3 from beef is sufficient.
    - Grounding (electrical connection to the earth) is recommended for reducing inflammation.
    - Blue light exposure should be minimized after sundown; orange lenses can help.
    - Exercise should focus on high-intensity, short-duration activities; avoid endurance training.
    - Main message: A carnivore diet, minimizing plant intake and inflammation, is key to health and disease prevention.

    When I did autopsies, patients with cardiovascular disease often had severe atherosclerosis in the aorta. The aorta is the main artery that leaves the heart and runs down the body in front of the spinal column. Sometimea the inner lining was so calcified it was hard to cut open with my scissors. The openings in the aorta where the blood exited to feed the organs had think calcified collars of plaque just like Bart said. The renal arteries were also very narrowed by plaque, greatly reducing the blood flow to the kidneys.

  • @JasonActualization
    @JasonActualization 9 месяцев назад +18

    The primary driver of atherosclerosis is not native lipoproteins like LDL, but rather, the excess oxidation of such which is then rendered injurious to the endothelium. This is far more likely to occur in arteries than veins because this blood is far more oxygenated. Unless a lipoprotein is oxidized, it is not atherogenic, and thus "high" LDL is not inherently bad.

    • @bart-kay
      @bart-kay 8 месяцев назад +5

      Not quite correct, @JasonActualization. Close though... There are three drivers of CVD, their relative importance would seem to be in this order... 1. Turbulence borne of hypertension. 2. Injury / inflammation of the vascular endothelium, and 3. Oxidation / Glycation. Hope that helps.

    • @JasonActualization
      @JasonActualization 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@bart-kay I appreciate your perspective mate but I will maintain that the primary driver of CVD is indeed oxidation. Yes, blood flowing at very high pressure can damage the endothelium but it is negligible relative to that imposed by oxidation and the resulting inflammation. The net deposition of plaque is in fact attributed to the chronic immune system in response to said oxidation. What's disturbing is that our all out assault on LDL would seem to be a strategic blunder, as, for example, in the case of seed oil consumption, which may lower LDL, will induce extraordinary amounts of oxidative stress and ironically give rise to that which it's supposed to protect us against. We may disagree on the magnitude of effect of the contributing factors, but in general I think your health and dietary rhetoric is sound. I would, however, add a potent source of antioxidants to a carnivore diet (pomegranate juice for example has been shown to not only prevent plaque progression, but reverse it after 1 year, as evidenced by a 30% reduction in common carotid intima-media thickness, PMID: 15158307).

    • @bart-kay
      @bart-kay 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@JasonActualization Your argument seems to be based in a failure to comprehend deterministic reality. Atherosclerotic lesions occur ONLY where blood flow turbulence is in effect. Ergo, UNDENIABLY this (and ONLY this) is the primary driver, therefore. Oxidation / Glycation are SECONDARY.

    • @JasonActualization
      @JasonActualization 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@bart-kay Peripheral artery disease is evidence that plaque formation ensues in the absence of blood flow turbulence. Hypertension is not the initial insulting agent, rather, a downstream development after the endothelium has been damaged and rendered unable to expand once plaque has already accrued. Hypertension increases the propensity for plaque to break off and produce a blood clot, but it's not itself implicated in the initial atherosclerotic development, and neither necessary, nor sufficient to bring about CVD. Hypertension can most aptly be likened to an indicator light in that it's indicative of an underlying issue i.e., excess oxidation, but not in and of itself the injurious agent.

    • @bart-kay
      @bart-kay 8 месяцев назад

      @@JasonActualization PAD is not in fact NOT evidence for anything of the kind. The exact same patterning of lesions according to exactly where we would predict according to where we would expect turbulence occurs. I don't know what it is that makes you think you know more about this than I do, but it is a false belief. You don't. Hypertension at a high enough level and exposure time is perfectly sufficient to start the cascade. It remains the primary mediator. You're wasting your time here. Go complete your education in this field, it is lacking, clearly.

    Jesse Chappus - great interview, as always - to the point, wide coverage, going after the necessary detail, clear as a bell.
    What was MUSIC to my ears - no need for fermented anything, as all food is pre or probiotic to the microbes; no need for omega3 supplement if you avoid omega6 and eat the best quality beef that you can afford. What was GRATING to my ears: there is no practical way for me to be grounded in my top-floor apartment in which I live and work. So far, I have been unlucky in that department - I attempted to walk barefoot in the green patch in front of my building but got stung by something that left me with a sore foot for two weeks; next I tried the park but it has become a doggie toilet; then I went to the Botanical gardens and walked in the grass. Contracted ringworm, which i mistook for psoriasis and waited for it to clear for 3 months, as it was a small patch, until it took hold, and it took me another two months to get rid of it. There are worse infections - like some flesh-eating bacteria. So, I am forced to pass on the earthing.

If a person really listens to Bart about how to transition correctly and then they commit to 90 days of pure carnivore, they will almost without exception stay 90-95% carnivore for the rest of their lives. It's because the level of well-being is so much higher people who haven't done it can't even imagine.

    With regard to hyperinsulinaemia - In the UK and possibly most countries, doctors only use blood glucose and Hb1ac tests for diabetes. They do not offer a fasting insulin test - a much better indicator that you have a problem. For example with veggie based diets you can lose weight and lower you blood sugar and Hb1ac levels, but still have high fasting insulin. One could infer that without dealing with high insulin levels, that you may not reduce chronic inflammation and hence many chronic diseases. My feeling is that when you are younger, you can control your blood sugar issues, by a variety of dietary approaches (preventative approach) Older people in general may require a more ketogenice type of diet (therapeutic approach) to control what may be a long standing issue of systemic inflammation.

    Given that high carb diets are a somewhat recent phenomenon, it could well be that hyperinsulinemia is still problematic in that the human body has not yet had time to evolve to deal with it. Thus, the idea that the body wouldn’t do it if it were bad for us does not necessarily hold as we are subjecting our organism to an environment that it has not yet evolved to manage.

    • @TommysPianoCorner
      @TommysPianoCorner 8 месяцев назад

      @@bart-kay possible that + insulin often means + glucose making blood thicker thereby requiring a higher pressure to keep it circulating through the system - to get a high pressure the body retains sodium. Thus, for the body insufficient blood flow is worse than higher blood pressure. Of course, pure conjecture but remove the carbs, insulin drops, the body releases sodium and the blood pressure drops therefore quite logical

    • @stephens9462
      @stephens9462 8 месяцев назад +2

      Fat and protein serve two different functions in the body so I think the “ratio” thing is stupid. Our bodies should require X amount of protein and Y amount of fat independent of each other. Find out using a online calculator what your lean body mass is and as a starting point aim for your protein and fat consumption to be between .8 to 1x that number and adjust from there. My lean body mass is 145 pounds and I usually try for 145 grams of protein and 135 grams of fat. I’m probably around 15 pounds overweight so I’m trying to lean out a little.

    It's funny when I trash medical studies to GP's and point out what they are, and are not, capable of telling them. While I don't come from the medical world I do have the skills and knowledge to do these things. They still disagree with me but have never pointed out anything wrong with what I've done, nor come up with anything to support their viewpoint. I did this a few days ago when 3 Drs ganged up on me a couple of days ago when they threatened to put me on statins. Second encounter they didn't try to push it again but I see on the discharge papers they've pushed it to my GP to do the persuading. • @mikepullman2513
      @mikepullman2513 2 месяца назад

      There really is no books. You can join a carnivore group that can guide you. Other then that carnivore is an elimination diet. Slowly remove non meat stuff you eat. Same with seed oils fruits veggies rice grains bread juice and processed garbage. It's really not hard. Most simple thing to do. You will have withdrawals you will have drops in energy you will have discomfort and nausea... at first. But allow yourself to adapt and adjust. Push through the shit feelings you'll have. You'll only improve. Fatty meat is what you want. Equal fat to protein ratio. Don't eat lean. If you have cravings nibble on butter of your choice. Use tallow to cook your food.

    • @judymiller5154
      @judymiller5154 2 месяца назад

      dont make it hard - carnivore means you eat animals, not plants, "take 6-8 weeks to remove everything from your diet that is not carnivore".

    • @mikepullman2513
      @mikepullman2513 2 месяца назад

      @mariasnee2403 just eat cow fat salt water for 90 days. Don't forget electrolytes. Do this for a huge amount of healing. No plants, no sugars, no carbs, no processed junk. Do this after a few days, you'll release water your body is holding into, and you'll lose 10,15 to 20 pounds alone. Drink electrolytes to stay hydrated. You will go through a withdrawal phase for a few weeks to a month, depending on how bad your diet is. Carbs turn to sugar sugar is diabetes diabetes is cancer. Everything that's bad for you and everything you were led to believe was healthy is actually not. It's an addictive drug. So there will be withdrawals and cravings. If you have cravings for stuff, you shouldn't eat nibble cold butter, which cost your mouth with it. If you have diarrhea and nausea, it's because you're not used to melted butter or rendered fat, which is liquid beef fat. Speaking of which, there will be no more cooking in oils, seed oils, and vegetable oils. You cook only in tallow (beef fat) lard, ghee or butter. Once you're fat adapted, meaning your body learns to use fat for energy instead of carbs, you'll have large rushes of energy that you do not crash from. Eat equal fat to protein ratio. Try to go for ribeyes or 80/20 ground beef. Salt with Redmond ancient salt. Buy at Whole Foods or Amazon. Eat till you are Thanksgiving stuffed but still comfortable. Eat when you're hungry, but don't force yourself to eat if you really don't want it. At some point, after doing this, your body will start to not be hungry all the time, and you'll be satiated. This is the time you can go 24 to 48 hours without food and not be hungry. Just make sure you're drinking water and electrolytes to stay healthy. If you do this correctly, you should lose weight and lose a bunch of inflammation, causing you pain and discomfort. Your gut problems will be gone. Believe it's called ibs. After 90 days of this, you can try to add bacon eggs or other animals to your diet one at a time. You want to see if you have a reaction to them. At this point, eggs mess people up. Seasonings. Sissified ingredients like vegetable ingredients in bacon and sugar cause a discomforting reaction. If you try to eat the stuff you used to eat, they will not taste good and won't make you feel good. This is because you had a tolerance to these negative effects of this garbage food. At this point in the carnivore lifestyle, your tolerance is gone, and you will know what is not good for you to eat by listening to your bodies signs and feelings. Also, at some point when you're not hungry much, you'll only really eat once a day at dinner time. This one meal you'll eat till you're stuffed. Just maintain this and go out and regularly get exercise. Walking, rubbing, sprinting even weight lifting if you choose. Your diet will sustain you.

      Low vitamin D status? Your immune system seems depressed/under active. Perhaps without any plants in the diet, the immune system is not stimulated enough? Just a theory, no idea if that could be the cause.
      Or, you may have an underlying health issue. Have full labs drawn perhaps to investigate.

    Interesting, how one is supposed to have a huge amount of protein in one seating? Also, the fact he is FASTING for almost 24 hrs by doing one meal day, might be the actual mechanism working for him. I noticed a lot of Carnivores claiming being one mea per day person, maybe is just a coincidence…

    I want to transition from a low-carb diet to a carnivore diet, but why did Prof. Bart say we need to spike insulin every day? One meal a day isn't for me because I want to gain muscle weight. I'm a very thin guy. Please help.

      I really like him, but no, you don't need to eat OMAD, eat when you are hungry, not as a scientific experiment.

      You can eat 3 times 2 times or 1 time. Up to you. If you want to bulk up just eat. Carnivore is the consumption of meat and no carbs. So eggs meat fat eat all you can. If you bulking I would suggest don't take all that protein shake shit. Or any of those powders. If you feel you must don't bother with carnivore. You'll just be shooting yourself in the foot.
