@@AliceFarmer-bg4dw He's not a working scientist or professor. He's a multi-level-marketing blue-green algae salesmen. His schtick it to tout that he *was* a scientist and claim he's a carnivore expert. However much any of that is true, it is *all* in service of selling a product which he will claim he can't say what it will do exactly, but will imply it will bring back the dead (i.e. hyperbole). In regard to this product and its real benefits, if any, he does not hold himself to the same scientific standard that he holds everyone else. It's as if there's a conflict of interest.
He's also petulant and incredibly thin-skinned, but I'm not aware of any evidence that that has anything to do with his diet.... ;-) He'll probably report this comment. But, with respect he is NOT, every claim or most can be debunked or shot down, Kay suggests that the body optimally runs on either fats or carbohydrates, discouraging the intake of both simultaneously. However, the human body is capable of metabolizing mixed macronutrients efficiently, and different metabolic pathways can be simultaneously active based on dietary intake.
Kay implies that elevated blood glucose is toxic and can damage cell structures. While prolonged high blood glucose levels can lead to health issues, the body has mechanisms, such as insulin secretion, to regulate glucose levels and prevent toxicity. Carbohydrates are not inherently toxic but should be consumed in balance for optimal health.
Kay suggests that the biological system of a human is not geared for a diet rich in all three macronutrients and argues for a diet based on animal fats and proteins. However, anthropological evidence is complex, and conclusions drawn from stable isotope testing may not capture the full dietary diversity of ancient populations.
Kay claims that a diet rich in carbohydrates, particularly from plants, is likely to be nutrient-deficient and lead to catastrophic health failure. This is an oversimplification, as a well-balanced plant-based diet can provide essential nutrients. The key is to ensure a diverse and nutrient-rich plant intake.
Isotope Testing: While Kay relies on stable isotope testing to support the claim that humans were obligate hypercarnivores, it's essential to consider other archaeological and anthropological evidence. Interpretation of isotope data can be complex, and different methods may yield varied results.

@@SciSciToysDerp. How exactly have people throughout the evolutionary timescale managed to eat a “variety” of plants, to achieve “balance”? 90% of plants eaten today came into existence within the past 200 years. And 99.9% of eaten plants came into existence within the past 2,000 years. So no, there is no way humans or pre humans could have evolved on that diet.
And saying stable isotope testing is complex, only shows how ignorant you are on the subject. It’s a relatively simple and repeatable process.
You’re talking about mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography…
Things that have been pivotal in one way or another in nearly all technological advancements made in the past 120 years.
This is not some new fangled technology that nobody is certain about. It has been refined for different purposes. But every aspect of modern life has depended on it in one way or another. All of your chemical manufacturers, plastics, metallurgists, this is a big list you’d be aware of if you knew what the process actually involved. It is extremely refined, a lot of people would be dead right now if it weren’t, and the world would look very different.
The rest of your derp is so far gone it’s hard to know if you’re trolling or serious, but it’s still good entertainment I guess.

I'd also add it's very healthy to eat nothing at all once in a while. Only when you fast does your immune system fully activate, and it's your immune system that not only fights infection but also cancer and aging! Some benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering carbs in the diet: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart and lungs.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion plaques, growths and pathogens by the immune system. This will also remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin!
    Blood clotting is lessened.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
T cells and T reg cells are vital in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infections but as we age the thymus stops making as many of them. Fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus itself!
Fasting restores NAD+ and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels.
Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system.
Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
Fasting restores your circadian rhythm to normal over time.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate.
The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds often break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.
Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This will cause cells to recycle damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses.
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility issues for some women.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil
Just 24h of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting.
Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting!
Glycine and trimethylglycine can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice.

That’s why animals stop eating when they are sick. They inherently know to rest digestion which diverts all energy to the immune system. When we get sick, we are told we need to ‘eat to keep up our energy’. I refuse to believe that for as long as man has been on this earth that this basic knowledge has not been discovered. Rather, it has been deliberately disregarded as a result of the pharmaceutically funded medical curriculum that runs our healthcare aka disease management system.

Thanks for this video. It serves to reinforce my experience.
I've been on a complete carnivore diet for just over 5 x weeks. I was previously on a vegetarian diet for about 8 x years.
I'm 69. I'm reasonably fit, not really overweight. I've had hypertension over 42 x years and have been treated with Rx antihypertensive meds all that time.
I also developed type ll diabetes about 8 x years ago (around about when i became a Vegetarian), and have been treated with Rx meds during the past 8 x years.
Two weeks into my carnivore diet, i had to stop my antihypertensive medication as my blood pressure went extremely low. I'm a retired RN. I monitor my own BP, but my GP agreed i no longer needed antihypertensive meds. I also stopped my Rx meds for type ll diabetes, as my blood sugar recordings fell back into normal range. I've been doing blood tests every two weeks over the last month, as my GP wants to ensure my blood work is supporting this complete change for me. The blood work doesn't lie. I'm getting back to pre diabetic blood results.
I'm thrilled with these results. I also lost 2kg in the first 2 x weeks, and it wasn't something i was trying to do. It just happened.
Prior to changing my diet to carnivore, i was usually eating only twice a day. I was fasting for 16 x hours usually, just as part of my regime to try to manage my diabetes - along with 10km walks, 4 x days a week. With the Rx medication i was on, fasting and exercise, i still was having high blood sugar results in my 3 x monthly blood tests. Being on a vegetarian diet meant it mainly consisted of carbohydrates. I just couldn't win.
That's completely changed, since I've been eating a totally carnivore diet.
I eat red meat (mainly), but eat pork, very little chicken (as i don't trust it with what they inject into them) fresh fish, my fisherman son regularly provides, eggs, cheese, and whole milk and cream.
I eat nothing else. I do drink a bottle of zero alcohol beer most nights, and also sometimes have a glass of zero alcohol wine with dinner. Those two drinks are the only carbs in consuming. I probably need to ditch those in time.
Because of what i eat, i often - but not always, only eat one meal a day. I often don't feel the need to eat any more than that, and if i do need a 'snack', it's still carnivore. I'm in ketosis because i don't need to eat more to feel satisfied.
So far, I'm convinced this is a very healthy diet for me. I'm very pleased to have discovered it, in spite of the propaganda we're fed to the contrary. This diet works. I'd happily recommend others try it.

You’re very similar to me. I’ve had diabetes for 25 years and ve been through the vegan thing but mostly keto for 15 years. My body is so insulin resistant even a handful of peanuts will put my Lord sugar up to 10 or 11. The only option for me has been to go carnivore. I’ve added greens and salad but that also increased my blood sugar. I’m now literally forced into pure carnivore. It’s the only way I can keep my blood sugar down (unless I inject masses of insulin which now does not work for me anyway). I wish you the best of health. May God bless you.

@@laurengianna9944 This is what I have found regarding the carnivore diet. One concern is that high-protein intake could cause excess strain on the kidneys. However, studies show that while increased protein does require the kidneys to filter more nitrogen as a byproduct from protein, there is no evidence that this harms the kidneys in people with normal kidney function. In fact, it’s suggested that a carnivore diet could reduce the main risk factors for developing kidney disease, including metabolic syndrome and type-II diabetes.
On the other hand, some sources suggest that by eating only meat, you could take in so much protein as to tax the liver and kidneys, potentially even causing damage. It’s also worth noting that the carnivore diet is high in saturated fats, which can cause elevated LDL or bad cholesterol and put you at risk for heart disease.
I Use the keto diet when I can - healthjy fats, low carbs and fatty meats - but not carnivore meat only. :)

It is indeed any carbohydrate intake that is the problem. Processed carbs are worse, because they are converted to blood glucose so quickly, and are more likely to come in the form of fructose. But all carbs and starches are ultimately converted to glucose, and eliminating them entirely is the way to reverese type 2 diabetes.

It’s such a battle to get solidly into carnivore, I never knew how carb addicted I was and was depressed the first 2 months because I wasn’t getting the constant dopamine hits and coming to terms with the reality that you eat to live, not the other way around. The benefits are clear for me, yet it’s still a mental challenge to stay with it when we are surrounded by the junk and pressure we come across. I’m genuinely happy I made this switch, and I’m looking forward to it becoming easier and first thought rather than a daily game of whack a mole.

And also wrong, Kay emphasizes the evolutionary adaptation of humans to a diet rich in animal fats and proteins. However, the evolutionary history of human diets is diverse, with evidence suggesting that ancestral humans consumed a variety of foods based on geographical and environmental factors. Adaptation to different diets occurred over time.
While Kay asserts that veganism can be disastrous beyond five years due to nutritional deficiencies, it's crucial to acknowledge that individuals can maintain a well-balanced vegan diet with proper planning and supplementation. Many long-term vegans lead healthy lives, and their nutritional status depends on factors like food choices, supplementation, and individual health.

That still small voice in my head said “You need protein” and an mri showed that I had visceral fat throughout my body and all my muscles were atrophied. No wonder I felt like crap. I’m now following carnivore in hopes of giving my body what it needs. Unfortunately I did it overnight so I’m waiting for the shoe to drop. I’m encouraged to stick with it.

I have not had much of any dietary fiber from plants over the last 3 years and my bowl movements and going number 2 has never been easier, cleaner and more regular, adding dietary fiber was what was causing my problems before, so people falsely assume adding dietary fiber helps but in reality that is what causes so much bloating and I've never had better bowel movements as I do now, meat and fat only, absolutely zero plants no fiber and I'm thriving...

So agree. My GI kept adding more prebiotics and dieetary fiber and supplements. I got so bad that a colorectal was considering a neuro stimulator implant to keep my anal sphincter closed.
So I went carnivore. Had very bad explosive diarrhea for 3-4 weeks, then it all stopped. I had to keep a poop log of frequency, control and nature of the stool.
So I KNOW what was happening. I KNOW what stopped it from happening. Carnivore. Carnivore healed me.
If I have ANY cheat, no matter how small, I will get gas and leakage. I KNOW it. I LOG it. I ate 2 tablespoons of Lily's baking mini chips last night. I have gas and a bit of diarrhea this morning. (Make.make keto cookies for my husband, and I cheated ME)

I was sent this interview because we are planning on starting carnivore from a low-carb starting point. Bart's advice to go slowly was very helpful, as was everything else! I don't think we have to wait so long, but we will gradually decrease our veggies (and I'll have to put my kambucha on hold, boohoo!) over the next week or two to allow our biomes to adjust. Fascinated by the supplement and great explanation of grounding. Thanks so much!

Enjoyed the episode Jesse, as always. About vegans, I recently saw a picture of Canadian singer Celine Dion and was literally horrified at what a saw. She is a skeleton and not healthy looking in the least. Then I remembered Russian Zhanna D'Art, a vegan who died after eating only raw vegetables for 10 years(they sure shortened her lifespan). After 5 years of eating plants it is clear, to me, that plants are not for human consumption, as these two women have found, and yet deny, that plants are unhealthy. And there are millions who support these women. The saying is true for plant eaters, "we don't die, we kill ourselves."

    • @jaghad
      @jaghad 11 месяцев назад

When it comes to Celine Dion all I can say is she's sick. She's got a disease called stiff person syndrome. If that is caused by her eating a vegan diet is not known. It's some sort of autoimmune disease, so I'd guess a meat and fat heavy diet could be advantages. Many autoimmune diseases become better on a keto diet.

I did basically change overnight and I’m about in week four right now and I did realize that I had to incorporate some carbs back in the diet because I felt I needed it but just not much. for example today I have eaten a steak but I’m still hungry so a couple hours later I just had a turkey and sharp cheddar cheese sandwich on one piece of excellent quality organic sprouted bread with a good quality avocado based organic mayo, and mustard. That has settled me down, oh, by the way, I also quit smoking pot and quit drinking alcohol during this time, and of course that has its own consequences, especially the alcohol since it’s basically sugar, and I was drinking two or more beers every day.

Been Carnivore for about nine (9) months now. I am a forty-seven (47) years old male and had diabetes, arthritis, low energy, migraines, digestive issues, and I was morbidly obese. I have reversed my diabetes, no longer have arthritis, have energy like I am fifteen (15) years younger, my migraines are gone, I have no digestive issues anymore, and I have lost seventy (70) pounds. I still want to lose another ten (10) pounds or more but the weight isn't what I am worried about, its the body fat content. I have a little bit more to lose but I go to the gym three to six times a week now and I am starting to see my muscle definition come back. Before the diet, I was feeling like I was on the tail end of my life (I felt like I was dying) and the Carnivore diet made me whole again. Professor Bart Kay, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Dr. Ken Berry, and Dr. Shawn Baker are what pushed me over the fence to try it. The other ones who convinced me to try it was Ferrigno Freedom and Homesteadhow (both on youtube). The testimony of their results pushed me to find the health professionals mentioned above. Armed with both health professionals, first hand testimony, and three days of research, I dove in...I have never looked back. If you are on the fence, then I am telling you to give it a try. I highly recommend you do the research before starting because you must get your electrolytes from a solution or LMNT salts (Well worth the money. Love the Chocolate Salts). You also really want to understand the effects your body will go through, while transitioning on the carnivore diet. Most people adapt within the a month to six weeks. It took my body four (4) months to properly adapt. It was so worth it though!

Cancer is your own cells rebelling against the biochem environment the SAD diet has created along with a sedentary environment. Cancer loves sugar, and cancer cells cannot consume ketones. Read and listen to Dr. Thomas Seyfried. I stopped all grains, seed oils , ultraprocessed faux foodllike items, sugers, veges, fruits and am now 99% Carnivore. The veges I eat very occasionally are low carb, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cucumber maybe once in 6 months. I am now Cancer free. I eat high fat mostly beef, Teton Waters polish sausage, pork belly, salmon, eggs, ghee, butter. I can't tolerate milk, gives me psoriatic arthritis within hours of consumption. Fructose in fruit is also a problem. Occasionally I eat a portion of blueberries or papaya. Oranges, tangerines grapefruit, pineapple, mango will bring on psoriatic arthritis within hours. Ultraprocessed carbs are nutrient deficient and occupy the space meat/fat needs to be and leads to malnutrition. Bart is extremely knowledgeable of what he speaks. It's all logical biochem processes. My "cheat" is the rice I occasionally consume eating sushi or the rare fruit.
