  • First of all this will void your warranty so do it at your own risk.
    If you are not experienced with soldering i would not suggest you to do this mod.
    However! In the end it is well worth it due to the additional functionality, and comfort.
    I honestly wished that Beyerdynamic would see this video, and sell the next version with this type of detachable cable, or even include a separately purchasable mod for the crafty customers.

    It sucks that they don't make these headphones with detachable cables out of the box, there is no excuse for it in 2022.

    For anyone interested in buying the headphones:
    First of all. Taste is subjective, and you taste may differ.
    With that out of the way.
    Short review-
    The good:
    Best sounding headphones I have ever owned.
    Open back design with a great wide sound stage.
    Perfect for gaming, and pin point audio precision.
    Great sub extension.
    Sharp, and punchy base, not muddy, and not overpowering.
    Clean clear neutral to warm vocals.
    On the highs it's all there, sometimes to much for my taste (don't prefer harsh treble)
    The bad:
    The non-detachable cable.
    Hehe fixed that one 😅
    They are comfortable, but not for a really long use compared to something like the Sennheiser's HD 558.
    The inside of the cups have a cussioning pillow, but after long use you can feel the driver touching your ear.
    They require a bit more power to use.
    You can drive them of a phone, or PC.
    But to get the best out of them you will need a AMP. Something like the Fiio BTR5 5 is absolutely perfect.
    Conclusion:
    ♥️ the headphones.
    They are not perfect, but we'll priced for the fantastic speaker like imaging they provide.
    If you have a AMP/DAC that has a bit more power in the output I would definitely recommend you to buy them.

    i really hope that you are still active on this channel, i have a question
    i've seen that the wire used by the headophone are really really thin, when i connect the 3.5 socket to the board of the driver do i have to use the same "size"of wire or i can use whatever wire i have avaible, even if thicker? i have a 3.5mm wire (the normal one that used for arduino and stuff), does it compromise sound quality or changes the impedance of the headphone?

    • @theeucguy
      @theeucguy  10 месяцев назад

      You can use thicker wire, but it can introduce noise to the system on touching it during operation, or pick up ambient electromagnetic noise. If you can, you should use thinner wire with a thicker isolation, like microphone wires.
      In the end, you can try it, and see how it works.

    Hi there,
    I have been tempted to do a similar mod with my DT880 and Tygrs so I just have 2 cables, a long and a short one (most of the time I use short, but some cases long is handy). And just switch cables when i switch headphones as I hate cable mess and having 2 pairs of headphones on a stand, one with a 3m cable attached is a mess.

      @@theeucguy Hey there, I have a SoundblasterX G6 and I wanted a great pair of all-round headphones to pair it with. I'm extremely confused between the Fidelio X2HR and TYGR 300R, I don't know which one to choose so I was hoping that you could help me.
      Here are my requirements:
      First of all, I don't care about competitive gaming (multiplayer/online fps) at all.
      I only play single player, story-based games (like God of War, Red Dead etc) and I like watching movies as well. So basically, what I'm looking for is *IMMERSION* above all else.
      Any suggestions?

    I bought for playing and Musik a DT990PRO 80 Ohm Version, but I play with it, since one week and I'm very happy, the difference to my old HyperX is big. I thought about ordering the TYGR for comparison, but why 🛀

    • @Arctics04
      @Arctics04 9 месяцев назад

      The Tygr has almost similar sound to the DT 990 Pro. It‘s made for gaming because the imaging (location from enemys) is very good.

    Are these even open-back headphones? From this video, it seems like there is literally no opening to the outside when you take the driver out of the headphone casing. Does anyone know?

    • @Butzemann123
      @Butzemann123 5 месяцев назад +1

      They are open back. There is damping material between the driver and the outer cups.

    Can you explain a bit more how you use the multimeter to determine which wire goes to where on the plug?

    • @dastyp4771
      @dastyp4771 3 года назад

      In case you're still looking for an answer and assuming you're talking about that screw in plug:
      You can plug in a cable and use your stereo male connector to determine which pin is which. Test each part of the connector, left/right/ground, and see which one of the pins is connected.

      @@dastyp4771 thanks. Can you explain in further detail please? So plug in the trs to the new installed jack? So if I touch the red wire to one of the pins on the jack then what is the multimeter touching? Sorry im confused. Thanks.

      @@Princeton_James 9 Month old comment lol but yeah I can.
      www.circuitbasics.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/TRS-Audio-Plug-Connections-2.png
      In the image you can see the different areas of the aux jack and what they correspond with. That's where you put the first of your multimeter probes. Use the other to test your wires. If you're on the left audio area of the jack and your multimeter goes off, you've got the wire for the left earcup, etc.
      for the bought connector it should be on your packaging. otherwise you can determine the pins the same way

    How are they compared to the DT990?

    • @theeucguy
      @theeucguy  2 года назад +1

      Never tried the DT990 but what i see by the specs they are 250 ohm so harder to drive, and studio monitoring headphones so they have a flat response sound stage.
      The TYGR 300 R are cheaper, easier to drive, have a amazing wide, and detailed sound stage with no overpowering Bass. That's why i like them.
