Zeus, my Presa Canario, lived to be 17 years old. The last 3 years of his life he was blind in one eye and completely deaf, but fortunately as I was teaching him words when he was a puppy, I used my own sign language simultaneously which came in handy. His sense of smell seemed to greatly increase when his hearing was lost. RIP Zeuser!

Wow 17!! My girl is nearly 6. She's a Presa. My first dog, and I accidentally got a presa. We've managed great. She's an excellent guard dog (not intended) amazing dogs!!

As we age we realize that we can’t protect ourselves like before so we opted for the larger dog as we live out in the country. The first were two separate Dogo’s. They both were adopted a month apart and both high in age. One stayed in the house and the other outside. At the time I thought these was the best of all breeds from our lifetime of other large dogs. Then along came the Presa, Duke, our newest and best hands down.
We wanted a home bodyguard “only” dog and that’s exactly what we got. He’s definitely not gullible to trust, which is the main reason we bonded.
He loves to bury his head into our laps to let us know his love for us is also mutual. And each time he does this, I here...

I have a 170lbs Presa, named Rebel. He’s the best. He is not aggressive, plays with big dogs and little dogs. He is a really fast runner and has lots of endurance, which surprises me for his size. Everyone that meets him loves him. He goes to the dog park daily and plays with all types of different breeds. His best friends are a female Doberman and a small chocolate lab. He loves to run around with puppies too. He is affectionate beyond belief. He thinks he is a lap dog. He’s afraid of puddles and dogs that bark at him. He really wants to be friends with our 2 cats but they don’t want anything to do with him. If you take the time to train them properly you will be the proud owner of an oversized suck.

I have a 5 year old...200 lb lap..dog😮, could not want a better dog. But believe me..ha,s a hand full...24...7.. If you decide to get one be sure of your ability to take care of it.???
I have a Presa Canario in my family and she is my first dog. I don't say I am a Presa Canario owner because you can't own a Presa Canario you can only be his/her family/pack. And if you are the Alpha you will not face any difficulty holding the Presa. Because he/she obeys the alpha at any condition. He/She's also great with other family members, children and other pets as she/he considers all the family as a pack to live together and protect each other. Because of that protection instincts they can be suspicious with strangers. But again there is no harm because they never attack till the last second. And they clearly understand if the stranger is approaching friendly or not from your body language. Shortly if you are the man Presa is the best breed for you. If you are still a kid go for poodles.

Yes he is. I purchased my first one in 2020 she is a beast. And I mean it. People who go near my wife learn real quick. She is only 9 months old and if I take her out to train and she hasn't found a target to get on she starts looking at me sideways. I'm ecstatic she is awesome.

Great! An informative video thats NOT scaring people about having this breed, they are awesome, mines a goofball and although he stands off at first he soon makes friends easy with new people or dogs, he's more like scooby doo than white fang lets put it that way....

We have a 2 in a half month girl , she is lovely and generally doing well as we adopted her 2 weeks ago, potty training is going well accept for she seems to *spite* accident when she can't dominate me , her dad is the alpha and I am calm and firm but she doesn't do it when it is just her and I or just him and her , she will even lay down when on the leash when I am holding it and he is within eyesight outdoors and purposely lay down and not budge until guide her by helping her up calmly as I have done some research. I am wondering if I am looking too much into it or if I am doing something wrong as I want to give her the best chance possible and know this breed needs a very structural upbringing to thrive. Any feedback would be gratefully accepted 😊
I'm not a first time dog owner, but I am a first time presa canario owner now.
Things are going well with my puppy, he is really Chill and I like that about him.
My puppy loves cats, my catahoula and he really likes strangers actually. I work on socializing him with as many people and other dogs and cats as well and he seems to really enjoy that.
My only concern is that since he is a puppy people really like to approach him and that's great. But when he gets bigger I wonder if that will change? I still want to socialize him with people even when he is big and I don't want people to fear him.

I've also rehabilitated so called, " dangerous dogs".
Some people fear dogs, some people fear big dogs .
You can't change them .
Just make sure your dog trusts you and is attentive to you .
My presa loves to meet strangers but about 70% of strangers fear the dog. .
My dog also loves to play with other dogs but that really scares people , thinking the big dog wants to hurt their little dog .
I train my dog to be friendly but to not impulsively approach people or dogs .
And I have a Corso so they can play rough
I resqued my girl from southern Spain. Told me she was a "staffy" but it turns out she is half amstaff and half perro de presa (she got mostly the looks from the last one). She is amaing and never causes me a problem in the house, super good with people, kids and cats but it s been so hard for me to socialise her without her randomly becoming aggressive to dogs.
She only likes some small fluffly ones.
If you have any advice for me I would love to listen to them!

I wouldn't say that. I'd say they're properly training them to recognize friend from foe. But these guys are always alert anyway. Providing proper leadership so the animal can also relax and enjoy life and companionship is only lifting the breed up IMO.

If you are looking to own a presa canario. DON'T!!!!!!!! I'm warning you!! Because., I now have one.
These dogs are not pets and they are not toys. They are strictly working dogs. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. And I'll be a presa fan for life. Yes they are beautiful and yes the little puppy is so cute. Until he/she isn't and then it's a whole different dog. And when I say different. I mean just that.,they literally are the jeckyl and hyde of the dog world. They do not know to stop once they deem one to be a threat to its master. As little as someone looking at you the wrong way or raised voices that are unfamiliar to this dog are potential victims of its vicious onslaught. Kudos to ANY responsible presa's master. So I guess if I haven't made it clear enough. Do not purchase this animal unless people regularly refer to you as a badass already.

A lady moved in our complex with a Pessa Canario when she walks it she let go of its lease I was walking my toy poodle it saw us I pulled my dog quickly praying it didn't attack my dog and me The lady came walking behind it saying its okay We made to the other side of the driveway I was shaking I reported her to the property owner she does nothing Yesterday I'm in my kitchen I hear a dog barking it's the Pessa Canario barking at a elderly neighbor The owner of the dog grabs the lease walks away She is irresponsible and a danger cause she allows her dog to roam I reported her again their are children here What do you think am I wrong to be worried and afraid

My family has a 2 yr old presa & he is: smart, loving, DEFINITELY doesn't like strangers! He weighs 120lbs...brindle & white.....wouldn't trade him for anything! I couldn't find a more loyal, loving, & protective breed of pup...love our "GRONK"...

However the other three quarters of the planet have differing view on this. This is no place for you to spout your beliefs as you do not see me or anybody else doing this. So unless you wish to be called out for choices and beliefs, And berated by those who believe differently, you should your keep your religious beliefs and so called scriptures to your self.
