I had a male and female for about ten years. They were super aggressive toward any animal or uninvited guest to the point of being a liability. They would enjoy killing any animal that moved including snakes raccoons, opossums, deer, rabbits, etc. Close family in the house were fine but I wouldn’t leave them alone with friends. Yes they do need room to run daily and they thrived on a proper raw diet which is very expensive. They lived in the house and were family members. We loved them intensely and they loved us. Also, a male and female will fight each other and don’t ever believe otherwise. Think long and hard before choosing a Tosa. And yes, I have experience owning and training other large and aggressive dogs.
I'm on my 2nd American Akita. The first was 11 years old when I had to put him down (unfortunately), the one I have now is 6.5 years old. As you probably know, an Akita isn't easy either. In your opinion is the Tosa much, much, harder to work with and home?
@@jeffw.9761 Although much depends on the individual dogs personality, I would say generally yes, plan on the Tosa to be much more of a challenge. Once you have a Tosa it is very hard to introduce another pet of any kind into the home.
I've had American Staffordshire Terriers all my life. I currently have three now. They are all inside dogs. Father, Mother and their son.
The mother and son will kill bug,snake,cat,possum,raccoon,rat, or any animal with no questions asked. They are hunters. But they love people and children. If someone was to break into my house, they would ask them to make them a sandwich out the refrigerator while they are in there.
The father? Loves children, family and friends, no worries. Strangers? He won't bark or warn you. He's smart. He just wants to get close to you so he can get you. But a snake, bug, raccoon etc. He's not interested. He acts like he didn't see it. Moral of the story. They all have a job. That's what dogs are for.

Japanese tosa dogs have weight categories.A heavyweight dog can weight up to 90 kg of conditioned game bred dog and not a fat large mastiff. There is no canine that can match this power with the exception of large bully kuttas who are also game bred. Shepard giants like ovcharkas , tibetan mastiffs ,kangals and alabai dogs come second.Those dogs are made to fight wolves and bears but they are not bred for dogfighting. There is not a breed with more gameness than the original apbt terriers but the huge weight and size difference is not in their favour. noticeable mention would be the neapolitan mastiff and the hunting bred dogo argentino. Personally i find the boerboel and the pressa canarios the most intimidating but they cannot even think of matching a large tosa in terms of gameness.
Most ppl on yt don't understand what gameness even means. The result is that they actually think a breed like a doberman can take on and beat an apbt. Honestly, the misinformation and naivety online is staggering.
Presa lost to dogo due to gameness and endurance. Dogo besides his gameness also very agile and explosive. But when it comes to brute strength, tosa takes the cake. I've seen tosa outclass dogo because they are superior when it comes to wrestling
And as far as fighting dogs the Mayday lines and other slightly larger than average APBT will annihilate the Tosa with proper time limits as dog fighting goes do the research , In Japan if they had to match a Tosa Inu against an American Pitbill Terrier, then under those Japan dog fighting rules the Tosa Inu always wins because they only fight there Tosa Inu fights for 10 minutes and then the dog that looks more dominant get judged the winner, but if the Tosa Inu fights outside of Japan against an American Pitbull Terrier then they dont do good because the Tosa Inu like most big breed of dogs gas out after 10 - 15 minutes and that's when the American Pitbull Terrier is still fresh and just doesn't stop , today's actual combat Tosa Inu are not pure they are Bandogs x with APBT and other better fighting breeds than a original old school pure Tosa lines learn the facts , stop the lies and BS and learn the facts

If the called game apbt is going to win it is going to be a boring outcome of getting dominated the whole fight and come back later when the other dog is gassed but isn't able to deal any damage because it is too small and the other dog doesn't even bother to bite back

I give today props. Def the second best fighting dog. People really believe that other breeds generally can beat American pitbull terriers ? I mean game bred pitbull. If they weight 50 to 60 pounds they will always beat tosa. But from talking to real dog men. They will say tosa are very dangerous and you generally need 60 pound male pitbull to beat them.

The Rott at one time was the number 1 dog that ran thru big game pits, once they start interbreeding the game pit with the smaller terrier the Rott or any other dog didn’t stand a chance , Elusiveness, Agility , Endurance and shortness are key to the sport , those traits protect the dog from being manhandled from the bigger dog because of its agility and elusiveness and being able to counter with defenses and strike and move , compared to a bigger dog that’s not so elusive or endured that wouldn’t be able to counter a attack by getting away and striking at the right time

They do come from a similar breed gene pool, I know the boerboel is basically a mix of mastiff and bull dog and tosa over time have been mixed in with European mastiff breeds
Tosa significantly more capable dog, performance wise. One of the only few mastiffs still bred for performance rather than just looks (west is breeding for looks but east is breeding for performance)

Combat really depends on individual, bloodline, preparation, diet, training etc so you may have seen one or two videos of tosa losing. However, what you need to know is that the biggest tournament of combat is held in china with millions of dollars spent on dogs from every corner of the world and Korean bloodline Tosa Inu is king. This is not my opinion, there is literally no dogs challenging tosa right now

The Kangal is indeed impressive but its not a fighting dog. Its used in fighting by some but it was bred for livestock and protection against wolves and bears. The Tosa Inu is a pure bred dogfighting machine that has no equal. It has the size of a big Cane corso but the same mindset as an American pitbull terrier(not bully) so it will die fighting.

@JayJay Fire, we visited this site while shooting the film. These large bodied dogs are kept separated on a many acre territory, where they have a lot of room to move and run and not in closed kennels. In our opinion, it is a much better solution than keeping them in tight closed areas. Water is changed every day, though if rain falls, water get filthy temporarily.
@@DogCastTvEng Thank you for your response.. it certainly does look like the dogs have plenty of land in which to roam and play which I completely agree is far better than being cooped up in a small kennel or room.
My observations relate to the fact that dogs get bed sores when sleeping on hard surfaces, so im guessing the wooden kennels you see in the film have no bedding.?
And the water did look filthy, not sure this is just from rain..just my opinion...
Other than that I can't argue that the dogs didnt look healthy and happy..which is always a positive.

The Tosa Inu was created to beat the Akita Inu so I think tosa its a much larger dog.

The Tosa Inus was fromulated because Japanese breeders felt that Akitas are not effective enough. This was the reason why some European mastiff breeds were mixed with Japanese dogs, ile Akitas, to create the "perfect" fighter.

Kangal is an internet meme, no they aren’t as big as they’re made out to be. It seems they just mix an Anatolian Shepard with a mastiff which is typical to get a large breed like that, not to mention turkey banned the exportation of them so nowhere else in the world can get them(so they won’t be seen for as far fetched as they are). If you notice any bite force rating are all the exact same number it’s because a while back bite force in dogs was a topic of discussion and some one in a country that’s still trying to hype up their dog but yet won’t let it out threw the one number trying to double others. The anatomy just doesn’t add up completely. Sure they can kill wolves as many dog breeds can with a spike collar on, and yeah they fight them but yet we still only have so many vids of that( I understand it’s a controversial thing to record and post) . I wouldn’t say it ain’t shit just over hyped as many breeds get to be. So it can be a win just not an easy one.
