THANK U SO MUCH FOR UR VIDS THEY ARE SOOOOOOO HELPFUL :)))))))))))
A few weeks ago i had an exam on Macbeth about how Shakespeare presents the attitudes of Macbeth and Banquo towards the supernatural. My teacher, however, NEVER taught us about this (or anything really) and i have only discovered your account the day before it and managed to watch the ambition video. I got my essay back today and i got 25/34 (which i guess is a grade 7?) which did not make me happy at all. Everything I've ever learnt was from myself in a very short period of time. Mr Salles I'm counting on you now to make sure i get the grade i deserve 👍 Thank you for all the effort and time you put to ensure that pupils like me could get the best grade possible 🌹
You are very welcome, thanks for the encouragement. I will finish making this series before the exam, so you will know the play inside out. Kickstart your Macbeth revision by watching my video on all the themes of Macbeth.
@flakzyrl Hi,
Right now I am doing the same question as yours. Tbh I'm kinda struggling with it. But I would like to ask how did you answer it, especially linking back the question to the writer and also how does the writer feels. Idk if all this make sense.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish yes! please finish it, this series is so helpful and i rely on it so much
Hi Mr Salles, the quote "Win us with honest trifles to betray's" is 10 syllables but you have mentioned 11 syllables.
Been waiting for this thanks
you made a really strong point about how the witches haven't directly controlled the weather or even Macbeth and they could not sink the ship. could you say they are not in full control of whatever they manipulate and reference back to parts where Macbeth wanted more answers but maybe they didn't have any because they have a lack of control ?
You could
Okay thank you
hi thank you for this video :)
i have a question, at 14:58 you mention that it being up to chance makes it a gamble, versus fate, which is just waited out.
however the following line implies that the chance at being king is something that will happen without the interference or action taken by macbeth, yet if macbeth doesn't kill duncan, the gamble doesn't occur, however if he does kill duncan, that would mean that it took macbeth taking action for it to occur and that it was not 'Without my stir.'
i would really appreciate if you could clarify this point, thank you and have a great day!!
This really is top quality stuff, Mr Salles.
Thank you so much !!!
If only teachers teach like you.I have not seen a teacher like you. Is this what it's like to go private school?
No, I teach in a normal school! We are better than a private school.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Then I wish I went to the school you teach. Your students are very lucky!
@@jaheduddin7805 I know right! My teacher cant teach at all! Set 5 have a better teacher than us (set 2). My school really needs changing.😢
Mr Salles carrying us
hi sir are all these vids still relevant to 2023 spec for AQA because i was never taught any of this in class
Yes!
Sir i got a question. You know when you said "the line with the honest trifles and the 11 syllables", do you mean the whole quotation on the slide?
I mean the line as it appears in the play
Hi, I’m curious to know if you plan on finishing this playlist as the videos do not go to the end of the play.Do you recommend I watch your other playlists instead?
I am behind, so yes, do watch the other playlist too
I'm in Y10 and got a 4 in English literature AQA in my mock is it possible to
get a 9 by making notes?
Yes, if you use them to practise writing essays
is the 'what can the devil speak true a trochaic stress or spondee ?
it is up to the actor in performance - I think it is a spondee
Sir im constantly getting level 5 for all my lit essays!
I dont know how to reach level six!
Please help im in year 11 and have a lit mock tommorow inspector calls.
Thx sir for your videos.
I went from level 3 to 6. I got 27/34 thanks to his videos. Watch his videos and take NOTES, this way I am sure you will get greater marks
Ok
Watch my videos on the literature texts, or read my guides - see the links in the description
Awesome, well done!
4:33 - why would Shakespeare portray Banquo as being influenced by the witches and encouraging Macbeth to commit regicide? if this was performed at court? what was the purpose?
what actually happened irl was that macbeth and banquo both killed duncan together butttt king james is one of banquos descendants and Shakspeare couldn't say he came from a regicide so in the play banquo is not involved in the murder
@@dagstudios9956 that still doesn’t make sense but that’s fine thank u anyway
@@MC-ps3ul this was the first play shakespeare had written for king james, so he wanted to impress him, so didnt include him in the murder plot, but as its the 1st play he wants to influence james as a monarch and help him, so he tries to express throughout the play that oppressed women breed chaos and evil men, so he is trying to implant the idea of equality into king james
@@dagstudios9956 they don't commit the regicide of Duncan together, Macbeth is pressed by Lady Macbeth, and she calls him a coward and de masculine him
Sir shall I learn these quotations and the analysis?
Yes, take notes. You don't need to learn all the quotations, just the ones which are most important
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish how do you suggest taking notes from these videos? ie do you with we should order them in theme, context, character or order of scene? it's really stressing me out as i don't know what is the most effective way of taking notes.
isabelle g By theme! Relax...
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish thank you!!
Hi sir, I bought your guide for story writing and it seems pretty good
Thank you. I hope so!
Great video
Are you able to do a video on banquo
Yes
nice
Is it necessary to use big sophisticated words in both English literature and language?I mean do we get extra marks for that?
Can you give some words which will fit in every language paper?
Examiners report?
@@rkj6509 Yes you can't go wrong with examiner responses. The examiners have made it so they show what students have got wrong on and how to improve those mistakes.
