    Would you say Duncan’s naivety is his downfall, which is warning James to be more careful and considerate as a king, and to realise that some people are not as they seem?

    Also if the question asked to explore ideas about appearance vs reality, could I say that the idea of reality being ambiguous emphasises the fact that the witches power are ambiguous because there is a strong possibility that they have no physical power?

    This is an incredibly helpful video, thank you! Would it be possible for you to summarise some of the major themes of 'Macbeth' into the most relevant quotations that are applicable to many potential questions? I am struggling to determine which quotations are the most important.

      Say something like Shakespeare uses the quotation look like the innocent flower but be like the serpent underneath in order to show his loyalty to James as it is a direct reference to the medal he won when he survived the plot

    Could you talk about appearance Vs reality in a question about about how deceitfulness is presented?

  • @hamnaali4977
    @hamnaali4977 Год назад

    Hiya Mr Salles! I was writing a three-part thesis statement on the theme of appearance and reality for an essay, so could you please read through my points?
    1. Shakespeare develops the underlying theme of appearance and reality to flatter King James into maintaining the social order without persecuting Catholics but also to distance himself from any illusion of appearing disloyal to his patron.
    2. To serve as a warning to the nobility against the crime of regicide as the play was performed on the heels of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot, which saw a group of Catholic insurgents plotting a coup against James I and planning to install his young daughter, Catherine, as the ‘new Catholic queen’. (Stole this context from Jen Chan)
    3. To explore the consequences of usurping the throne and committing treason, which inevitably follows a tragic end.

      Mr Hard Apple I was predicted a 6 and worked hard enough to get a 9. Also the mocks don’t really matter as they have no bearing on what you will get in the final exam but they can be a good indicator of where you are at currently so just try your best
