- In this video, I give a quick but detailed analysis of the porter's speech at Macbeth Castle in Act 2 Scene 3. We'll look at the significance of the porter's lines from both a structural and contextual angle: why does Shakespeare place this porter scene right after the Macbeths kill Duncan? And how could the trial of a Jesuit priest help us better understand the moment? All covered in this video to help you get top grades!

I am currently reading Macbeth in my honors English ten class and your videos on Macbeth are really helping me find the reading interesting. I have had a theory that both Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth are Shakespeare trying to spread the idea of fatalism and your videos have helped me think more deeply on that as well as other fun ideas. Basically thank you for making my homework extra fun I really enjoy your videos!
So incredibly pleased to hear this - thank you for watching! Yes, fatalism is a fascinating topic to consider especially when comparing R&J v Macbeth...
Love your videos. Iβm reading through all of his plays and poems now in order of publication.
Thank you! And wow, that's such an ambitious (but worthy!) goal - can't wait to hear how it all goes :)
