Actually, I like the foliage; it brings the whole scene together and add depth. I also like your colour choices, the painting is so harmonious.

Nice painting, though The tree trunks are a bit brown… the foliage is nice, gives a lightness to the whole image and adds a little complexity. I wondered about you keeping aureolin on your palette though… was glad you did not use it… not sure whether it is lightfastness or oxidising but it turns an unpleasant greyish colour with time. It’s ok if you have it anyway and want to use it up on practice work, I suppose. Nice to watch you work….

I don't know what it is but this scene has me visioning Charlie Brown or the original Winnie the Poo. Just walking down the path. Since both of these are dear to my heart, I love it. Also, kudos to a fellow ambidextrous artist.

I think hot press paper is the right choice for dip pens. My nibs are too scratchy to use with cold pressed or rough paper.

I think so too. Being left handed I have a lot of trouble with the dip pen on cold press.

Even if your were right handed, it wouldn’t have been easy. It’s the soft version of running your nails across a chalk board board 😂. I end up with paper fibres in my nib or with a torn surface.

I'm a fan of winter scenes too. I'm sure I'll be painting lots more of them in the future.

it does look a little like, the light is coming from - kind of - the north/north/west side of the picture. slightly left side of the hill's peak. the shadows indicate the sun beaming from the left. so - kind of - west side of the picture. or maybe west/north/west.what do you think?

Thank you for watching nd commenting 🙏 Yes it's much easier to get hold of Baohong here in Asia. Hopefully it will become more available in Europe soon.

    Interesante las líneas en tinta
le dan estructura a la pintura.

Nice job. Good composition, perspective and depth.
To foliage or not to foliage, that is the question...Sometimes we just have to try stuff and see how it turns out.
