    Those two Rockwell paints are stunning together. Their burnt sienna is unlike any other burnt sienna I’ve tried.

      Thank you for watching! Their Burnt Sienna is very similar to Transparent Red Oxide by Daniel Smith - it is more “rusty” and it granulates. It is a lot of fun!

      @@AnastasiaMily very much so! As it is, I am trying to put together my pallet of colors. I have watched many of your videos and grabbed the colors that stand out to me the most. Could you recommend 5-10 or so essential colors to begin with? I enjoy using a limited pallet like so many of your pieces.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  19 дней назад

      A good selection of yellows, browns, blues, and greens would work well as a starter palette for landscapes. My mostly used colours are: Raw Sienna Light, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Sepia, French Ultramarine, Indigo, Payne's Grey, Perylene Green, Olive Green.
      Also Lemon Yellow, Indian Yellow, Phthalo Blue, and Lavender.

    Amazing what you can do when you let your imagination run free with two power colors! Might be fun to paint a nocturne - perhaps a snow scene? - with those two colors, maybe some masking fluid, possibly a couple of other deep blues like indigo or a violet. 🤔

    Early on when the paint ran down, leaving long gravestone? shapes.....I thought these looked a little like standing stones. Reminded me of an ancient stone circle with the high ground above. I’ve been doing watercolors for fifteen years. Started with very realistic paintings, moved to a looser style and now discovered your lovely landscapes. Anxious to try your process. Have you ever done this on Yupo stock?

      Watercolour sure takes us all on a beautiful journey! Thank you for your kind words about my art. I tried Yupo a couple of times a few years ago and I really loved the process and the crazy results but I still prefer to paint on cotton paper... Yupo is a bit too "slippery" for me :)

    Wow. Um, my only 'disappointment' is when you added those trees in front of the big 'sublime' trees. That tree (the leafs make them look as one), the way you achieved that 'ethereal' feeling in it with that touch of sun reflection or whatever (evidently I'm neither an artist or art critic): I was mesmerized by it. See it at 7:08 BEFORE you added the other trees. You practiced MAGIC there: How the heck could you visualize that touch! Anyways, beautiful work; I will have to be contented with going back to 7:08 to stay in that 'mystical' mood. 😇

      Thank you for this - I am always curious how my work is perceived by the viewer, so reading about how you responded to the process was fascinating. The play of the warm and the cool colours produces atmospheric results and also an illusion of light. Just the two colours, the warm and the cool, combined together here created that magic 😊 Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!

    What's it called optical illusions. There's several in this painting. Look closer to see just how this artist tricks the mind.

      Thank you - so glad to know you are learning new things from my videos. I use cold press 100% cotton paper, mostly Baohong Master's Choice brand. I am not sure where you are located as I know that Baohong is not easily available everywhere. Arches is amazing too but more pricey. Fabriano Artistico is a brilliant option as well. The results you get when painting on the professional grade paper are so worth it...

    Where do you buy the Rockwell watercolours from? Fabulous granulation and I know that Angela Fehr uses Rockwell paints.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Год назад +3

      Hi Julie, I got the paints directly from Rockwell (they kindly sent me some paint to test last year, and I really like some of those paints!). I believe you can buy from their website, and they are based in Canada. They list all the pigments in the description of each paint, and it is worth researching those pigments before buying as some are not lightfast.
      Art Spectrum's Payne's Grey is very similar to Rockwell's.

    Love your work so much! Been trying to attempt your videos. Your work is so beautiful. What is the item you use to prop your paper up on one side so the water flows toward you while you paint? I have used random items but my paper slips off. Thank you.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Год назад

      Thank you so much 😊 That item has a funny backstory as it was part of the packaging our new washing machine came with :) I looked at it and thought it was perfect for my studio! But a similar support can be easily made by folding rigid cardboard into a prism shape and taping it together.

    Do you think I could use Daniel Smith’s paint sticks instead of fresh paint from a tube? Have you tried one? I’m wondering how the paint will move on the paper once you add the water. Thank you.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Год назад

      I’ve never tried the sticks, but I am intrigued by the idea of them. I believe the sticks would behave differently to freshly squeezed paint, as I think the concentration of pigment is much higher in the tube… so the colours would not flow that freely when water is added. But since I haven’t tried the sticks, I can’t be 100% sure 😁

    Buongiorno vuol essere così gentile da indicarmi che tipo di carta è meglio usare per il dipinto acquerello, Grazie.

    • @AnastasiaMily
      @AnastasiaMily  Год назад +1

      Of course - I always recommend using 100% cotton paper for best results. There are three types of surface in watercolour paper - hot press (smooth), cold press (slightly textured), and rough (heavily textured). I prefer cold press but I paint on hot press and rough too. If you are located in Italy there is a brand called Fabriano, they make amazing watercolour papers (and having been making paper for the last eight centuries…).
