Thanks Karen, that is brilliant. It seems to me that the head at the horizon works because that is the level of the viewer's/artist's eye and head. No matter where we and they are, close or far, our eyes are at about the same level - except for children and, as you say, unless your view is from the top of a cliff.
Dear Karen, what a very good idea to practice the little people. I like your carrot ,w and I for help also using paint that is leftover. Thank you greetings Christiane 😊
Fantastic ! So delightful, so helpful. I can hardly believe it's only fifteen minutes long. You definitely have a gift for simplifying and explaining your techniques. One of the best tutorials I have watched. Please keep up the great work. Thanks you so much.
Thank you sooo much Again Karen! 🖌️🤗 You broke the blockage I had in drawing figures, You made it simple and effective, and adds more life to certain paintings! Blessings 🙏
Thanks for sharing your tips! I am grateful for Art Teachers like you online because I cannot always afford to pay my teacher. I like how you talk slow enough for me to understand each step. I always go back to your channel. Happy Painting!
Because of this video I felt confident enough to add a person to my forest path painting. I won’t lie, it was scary, but with a little practice on a scrap paper, I dove in! And guess what? It really looks good. Thank you so much, Karen!
Yay! That is wonderful Pamela... I am so pleased your painting turned out well with the added person/people due to the tutorial! Well done for going for it!
Thanks a lot for your tutorial. I don't understand all what you say because i don't speak englih very well, but just looking at what you do, how you do is teaching me.
Thank u for sharing your tips with me. I was afraid of painting people but now i shall definitely try. Have a good day, Karen. Here, in Kyrgyzstan, the day comes to the end.

Your instruction on how to paint little people was awesome. It was easy to pick up on based on your video. I must admit I prever the arch method to the M & W method, but to each his own. I am going to incorporate some little people in an abstract watercolor I intend to do later this evening. Thanks again!
I loved this tutorial. I too, love painting little people, but I have not done nearly enough of them. I will have to do more... And very thankful to have learned some of your wonderful techniques.
Absolutely BRILLIANT !! I have watched hundreds of youtube vdos on sketching and watercolor & you’re the first artist to explain this so clearly ! Thanku so so much 💕
Great tutorial, Very relaxed voice and style. Thanks very much for sharing your ideas, I've never attempted people, but will now get my pen and water colours out again.👍
I just started watercolours in late May of this year. I watched this last night and sketched a beach scene using this technique. I have never sketched before in my life. But my people looked awesome. So thanks
I recently sold a drawing of two fishermen, your right about leaving hands ect to the imagination, in our art group our teachers tell us never add features which I thought was strange at first but people have more of an imagination than we think , I shall certainly try out your hacks ect as we never stop learning ,Thank You x ☺
Brilliant, Karen! Now I feel I can try adding people into a landscape now and then. Love how your little details bring these characters to life. Thank you!!!
Lovely stuff. Enjoyed it. Think the thing about heads is they are on the front of the chest trunk, not perched on top of it. Specially in old folks like me.
GREAT tutorial Karen!! Thank you for being so generous with your tips, I have been painting for about six months now and it’s people such as myself that I have learned the most from. Thank you 🙏🏼 again ❤
Thank you
This is truly the first video that has helped me in drawing people. So nice you would take time to help others. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Btw it would be great if u could show people sitting or laying down … I would love that…. Thank you 😊
Brilliant! I have committed myself to improving my art through daily exercises, and I have just found my next thing to drill! Thank you for these excellent hacks and your clear demonstration.
This is one of the most helpful video’s I’ve ever seen in in drawing/painting people properly. I’ve often drawn them as carrot figures which on some paintings didn’t quite work out too well. (I never knew why until I watched your video.) For that reason I stopped trying to add figures to my paintings, but now after I practice a bit of course, will start adding them again - this time correctly and in the right perspective! Thank you for your help because now that I know what I was doing wrong I can and will correct it by using your method. Thank you once again for a great video. P. S. I’ve just now subscribed and am looking forward to more of your enlightening videos!
REALLY helpful. Thank you! I've often seen painters advise that a child's head is larger in proportion to their bodies than an adult's and to paint it thus. Starting out small makes so much sense.
Thanks Karen, that is brilliant. It seems to me that the head at the horizon works because that is the level of the viewer's/artist's eye and head. No matter where we and they are, close or far, our eyes are at about the same level - except for children and, as you say, unless your view is from the top of a cliff.
Thank you Peter for explaining this so beautifully!!! 😀
