If your art instructor won't teach you techniques, why would you even need them? To criticize your work as you flounder through via trial and error?

you make it look simple and made me think that "so that's just how it is" and gave me confidence and new understanding. I sometimes find it hard to draw and only now in my thirties I started again. my hands were shaking, I could barely draw what I imagined, I overthink things and put unnecessary pressure into myself that I have to draw beautifully and perfectly. So that's why it's one of the reasons I only restarted drawing now after so many years of neglect in art. Now I find another inspiration to keep forward and try this too.

@ Thank you for your kind remarks. Because I am now 76, I'm at an age where I don't want to start learning drawing all over again, so I switched what I was doing!! I've taken on some self taught abstract painting, and it turns out I'm really good at it!!! I've also been using a Jelli plate a lot and have been doing collage/mixed media, and won a spot in a prestigious art show with one of my pieces!! I have also learned how to ‘loosen up’ how I paint. I am now enjoying art more than I have ever before. I'm still upset about not being able to draw like I used to, but working around this has given me another layer of art I never knew I had. So, this is a good lesson in not giving up, but working around the disability and a brand new world may open up to you!! Thank you again for touching my heart!! 🥰🤗

@bronwenquick It will get better. Don't give up. I had problems finding words for half a year after my C infection. Felt like my brain only ran on three cylinders... But you can heal. Try and try, practice, every day! I recorded myself talking about complex topics, wrote pages and pages, using mew vocabulary. I gave my brain work, I challenged it. Little by little it got better. You will be able to draw like you did before.

The dot method is simple but super effective, especially when drawing freehand w a pen since it just trains your mind to get better at measuring and figuring out the lines and shapes of something, which is one of the most significant skills an artist can acquire. Thanks so much for this tutorial, it really helps a lot!!
