I watched this whole play through years ago, now time to watch it again !
I can't believe you don't have more viewers. I've been watching your series for a very long time and it's very, very enjoyable to watch.
On the other hand, he's getting more and more subscribers every day. Going from 20 000 to 25 000 didn't take all that long, and his series with quill will help too.
Monty Python He needs to find some other people that would play Civ with him and do a multiplayer series, much like the Yogscast do (on Yogscast lalna channel). It would be very interesting to watch.
Alternatively, I think he should apply to the yogscast for him to play in one of their civ 5 multiplayer matches.
Vytautas Virvicius Not convinced. Their playstyles don't fit together at all.
Monty Python Would get him a lot of subscribers though.
The main issue after this being my first video of his, is that he isn't funny. He's more of a tutorial kind of guy.
A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!
sofia(militaristic) and bogota(cultured) has horses
meanwhile buy an archer to complete their quests
I'm just here to say this popped up in my recommended 6 years later.
Looking for Civilization 5 fix? Look no further. ;)
Love your accent
Why didn't you turn off time victory?
dronfim Why would I do that?
Marbozir because AI gets cheaty lots of points
Marbozir Personally I don't really like time victory. It is kind of an empty victory that pops up just when you are planning your final strike against the enemy. Though from what i have seen in your video's you defeat the AI before turn 500 mostly anyway.
Praise Vishnu for your dedication to the game and you fans, Marb.
For whatever reason RUclips insisted on recommending me this video for several days straight. Okay, Algorithm, you won.
Man, Marbz sounds nearly exactly the same as he's today. Crazy!
Mongols without Horses is like Rome without Iron. I wish you luck on this one, Marb
Mongol with no horses=sad day for Mongolia
Don't you mean you'll have to go to war with him...
...very Orleans?
Your quality has always been amazing, cheers!
the game was like " Oh. you're playing as the mongols. here , no horses for you. Deal with it (puts sunglasses on) "
I'm watching previous LPs to fill the time between new Civ 5 vids. I'm addicted to these!
Glad to see you're finally playing mongols they're probably my favorite civ. Bear in mind that when you upgrade horsemen to keshik they lose all land based promotions and begin again as a ranged so optimally you want 4-5 horsemen with blitz and +1 movement before upgrading. Enjoy having a massivlely OP army for 2/5 of the game though!
Which is why you recruit chariots archers and not horsemen. They also upgrade to keshiks.
You should keep in mind that you can take city-states fairly quickly. If you can war with, and take the city state before anyone else declares war on you, then you could possibly get your unique unit from the horses you gain from the city state. War should be easier then.
if he conquers a city state he will be hated by everyone and get denounced instantly
yeah, if he does this on Deity, he won't get any trades, and research agreement partners, and could lower the standing of all other city states. definately not worth 4 horses and some unhappiness.
slateknight1 But if he doesn't take on any city states, that is a wasted U.A. The only thing left is the additional movement, khan, and the keshik, but the khan will always be useful.
Piratewaffle43 So the options are: take city states and have big chances of loosing the game, or waste ua and have big chances of winning the game? Yeah, tough choice.
Sacrifices must be made. The UA, UU and whatever the third thing is, are usually balanced so that if one or two of them are really strong, the third one is pretty weak. In this case the other two uniques are pretty damn good. In most of my games Mongolia is wiped out most of the time because they conquer a city-state and everyone gangs up on them. Also gets quite annoying when Mongolia offers me a DoF right before they attack a city-state, and then everyone hates me because I'm friends with them.
Ahh, the legendary Keshik horde onslaught! For the glory of the Great Khan Marbs! O/
Go after the city-states, though you typically don't. You have a great bonus against them.
still got time for civ even though you've got about 10 series on the go! legend
Fantastic, I'm looking forward to this game! Thanks Marbs
quill has been one of the only charming civ players ive seen on youtube...until now :D
Started watching your videos for about 3 or 4 weeks and its pretty good! Its a shame that i didnt know english enought when you made the videos, i would had watched everything lol
Hey just wanted to say i love your civ 5 videos. You play at a fast pace while still explaining your tactics/strategy very thoroughly. Unfortunately i'm almost done with all your civ 5 videos :(
Fantastic channel. Been watching your Civ 5 videos like an addict.
Sofia, a militaristic City state also has horses. There is also a source of horses near Paris if you want to take it.
I see you share my opinion on the usefulness of some of the natural wonders.
how could you suck so hard at exploring, while you are so brilliant at this game
This game looks interesting already. Trollface is in the game, makes things interesting already. Sofia also has horses, militaristic too.
Yes I asked for khan awhile ago.
And said take over city states only. Lol that would make traded impossible but it would be a different twist thanks for the solo civ!!!!
That is a bad idea because khan will be denounced by other civs in the game and most of that civs will be going to war with him at the same time.
Sry for my bad english.
Wow you got lucky with that pantheon, literally the next turn the ai got their reformation belief so you wouldn't have been able to get one.
I'd gladly trade the pantheon for some horses tbh!
true!
I love your Civ solos the best Marb =D
You can chop forest on deer tiles on plains without losing a hammer. Your final yield (with granary and camp, not including the pantheon) will still be 3f/2h. Provides a bit more early production.
Not sure if you saw, but Riga city state has an Barbarian camp that has a worker in it, and it part of a quest for that city state as well. So you can get a free worker, without going to war, and get friendly too
solid start, good stuff. liked
Dude, you're very good at this game.
"The only Horses I can see are in City-States"
Hmm. If only you were playing a Civ with explicit bonuses for murdering City States and taking their stuff..... :p
Conquer in the name of Tengri!
Yay new series :D
A Civ that needs horses for its special units has no horses in the nearby area #CivVLogic
*Imminent trade agreement with England*
man I love your channel, it's full of civ let's plays, but your accent kills me haha
I know you usually don't take city-states but combined with your UA, it would be an interesting twist. I know it wouldn't make the most sense but it would be fun.
Hopefully another civ will connect horses that you can buy for gpt or trade for furs. Ideally you want 4-5 keshiks and one horseman ASAP to start your warmongering (can use a pike for capping cities, but it will slow you down). Then your first target would be another civ with more horses so that you can build a second army to send in the opposite direction (if you want a faster victory and optimally use keshiks during their window of dominance).
Beg, borrow or steal (or buy) horses to build some chariot archers. It would be a shame if you need to waste hammers on building comp bows to do a rush to take over a city with horses (although I guess they are fine for garrisons later).
Haha your favourite Ai is back and he's ready to troll you.
Ooo yeahh, I was waiting for that to happen, Go Marb, destroy em all :P
Great vids man. I would like to see a playthrough on normal speed though since epic speed makes things a lot easier for any victory type
I wouldn't underestimate Isabella. She usually maintains a good army, and she will get her unique units by the time you get yours.
If I'm playing as mongols or arabia or some civ that depends on horses or iron, I play on strategic balance to guarantee horses and iron within 2 tiles of capital
I think you should settle next to Spain because: 1. The new city will provide 2 NEW Luxuries (Ivory and Silk), and 2. It will be a city next to Spain where you can position your army before you conquer Spain. Your location is also good, but not as good as the one to the east.
Hoho, this will be fun... for you. >:)
There's a source of Horses near Paris! You should make trampling him under your foot a priority!
I can't believe how surrounded you are. There's so little room to expand into decent spaces! And such a cluster of city-states! ;_;
Personally speaking, I'd either settle to the east for the Ivory AND the Silk there, or settle on the coast and still get all those Deer and Furs for trading.
I'm curious though: why did you disable InfoAddict?
Definitely need to make France priority one. They've got Horses between Paris and Lyons.
New Civ lp, nice!
idk, location to the west would require a lot of working to be good -only forests around, and you don't have spare workers to make up for it (and would probably require you to spend a lot of gold buying good tiles, which you don't want to do now for sure). I'd settle to the east first, near ivory, and probably south would be my second city, and only then go west. And you build camps on ivory as well so it would give you +1 food too.
That west location is kinda secure, I mean, yeah Napoleon can settle it, but you're going after him first anyway right? XD
As for horses, just go meet Byzantium, and check on them every turn for when they improve those horses(if they don't have any already), so you buy them before anyone else does.
And: another domination game, yay! With Ramkhamtrollface! XD And btw, another good reason to NOT conquer cs, else he will haunt you for the rest of the game.
If you had build a settler while the city still at level four had it completed it in 15 turns. Now you waited 2 turns until the city grew to level five (as would I) but interestingly it wouldn't be finished until 14 turns, so you gained only 1 turn while waiting for 2 turns. So you ended up buying a tile to get it down to 13 turns. So no gains in turns, only a lost in gold. But however, it was maybe worth it because of something else I hadn't thought of :)
There are horses near Paris. I mean, it's up to whether you prefer to spend gold and become an ally to a city-state, or to go to war with France.
Looks like its going to be a tough start
What!!?!?? I killed you for Caesar's Legion! What da table flip
If you need horses, you could try allying with bogota, a cultured city state to the south
I always get science from trade routes for my pantheon if I'm playing domination. Just stands to reason I'm going to end up with a whole mess of cities in the late game. To each their own, though
You can probably wait a bit for one of the AIs connecting horses and build up a bit until then, maybe build a few melee units. Well, not a great start, but maybe other capitals will fit your empire better!
you know who would be the best neighbor Gandhi :)
...and two years later Civ V fans' "running joke" is STILL, "Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?". lol
I swear that'll be how history remembers this game! Haha!!
*Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?*
Love The VIDS!
HELL YA MARB!
are you going to take advantage of your civ ability and attack city states
Cool, Mongolia!
France have the only horses in your area..
More reason to conquer them, right? :D
Man, that no Horses start as Mongolia really stinks.
I had a similar start as Japan recently where I had no Iron, therefore no Samurai.. brutal when that happens.
As you're the Mongols I'm assuming your going cultural victory? No idea why but most times the Mongols are in my game they keep going for massive tourism...
Awesome.
lol "and fries with that plz"
cool vid!
Hmm just thought of another option. Maybe you can settle a city near a CS with horses and use the free GG from Honor to steal them with a citadel?
Yes!
Love the accent, it turns me........ Off, tricked u!
Yay, Mongols. Drive your enemies before you. Hear the lamentation of their women etc.
Ramkam-trollface!! woot woot
why dont you just take vatican city with your special ability?
I was just about to post this same comment. You are play the city-state conquering civ and there are a bunch to your south just waiting to be plundered.
Problem with attacking and annexing city states is that it gives you diplomatic penalties with most AI's. This makes diplomacy, DoF's and trades (which are crucial on higher difficulty levels) very problematic, sometimes impossible.
Marbozir i think its worth taking a city state in this case because if you dont take it you will be basically play without any special ability.that's why i dont like mongols very much because i like to be ally with city states instead of taking them.
Awesome vid!
By the way, do you have any plans on revisiting XCOM with the long war mod for enemy within once it releases?
I'll be doing Long War for sure, yeah. I know beta 10 will break save games, so I was going to wait for that, but perhaps I'll do a let's try kind of thing with beta 9, like with Xenonauts. I'm not sure yet, the only thing I know for sure is that I *will* do Long War.
That's awesome! :D
I'd wait for Beta 10 though, beta 9 has quite a few broken things in it at the moment.
EXALT progresses way faster than they should, alien advancement scales the wrong way with difficulty and a few other minor issues.
Bogota has 4 horses as well, and it is a cultural city-state... Better than the religious one!;)
Settle a city near Vatican City and steal the horses, or make the rest of the game a real challenge and utilize your UA >;)
NICE!!
Marbozir, is it advisable to go after 1-2 CS's early game as Mongolia? This being on Immortal difficulty, not deity?
what a suprise i whas hopping you play mongols
I'm going to wait for city state quest for that encampment. Next turn, "Lhasa targets nearby encampment". Marbozir.... Completely misses notification.
Lhasa, bah!
Just found your videos, and I'm a fan!
Q: why don't you like Ramkhamhaeng (Siam)?
Watch his video about Ramkhamhaeng (the AI).He made a short video about him and the thumbnail is a troll face.
I'm a bit confused as to how the installing process for EUI works in Civ 5. Would someone mind explaining to me how to do it? BTW Great video!
Not too familiar with all of the civs, especially on deity difficulty. What were the benefits of disabling Korea?
Hey! Which mods are you using? Love your videos.
may be u should take a great general (after tradition finisher of course) and get horses from Bogota with a city right next to it and citadel?
why not put on strategic balance? like every game..
How come you don't attack the city states with horses and take them for yourself. Is there a bad penalty if you do attack city states?
Quick question: towards the beginning (about 7:10) Marbozir switches the Worker to a Shrine and saves the production on the Worker. Is this a mod or is this an available feature in all of Civ V? I have not ever noticed this in my vanilla Civ V.
It's a normal feature, and works on everything (units, wonders, buildings)
Dang Mongorians.
Do you realize hand axes are actually 1 hex ranged units? Confused about it due to this video...
Marbozir have you been watching the world cup
It sounds like he's saying weed
go go go go :)
The tradition tree looks altered? Is that a mod?
+Tom Buurman Its not mod. They changed the tree in some patch. You cant get that early free monument no more from 1st point.
Did you not consider just taking Vatican City? You are the Mongols after all. Sure it gives you negative diplomatic modifiers but you're going to be hated anyway in a domination game. Plus it's a lot easier then becoming allied with it.
I like his accent :D
