Someone might have pointed this out already, but if you settle your 3rd city on top of the quarry, you'll get copper, a mountain, barrier reef and 5 fish tiles.
This game is going to be amazing, all the boxes have been checked already; Warmongering Neighbours, Civs wiped out before turn 100, amazing city locations for production of incredibly strong naval units on a map with a lot of ocean, the list goes on! Can't wait for more already, but that's never been unusual with your videos Marbozir. Thanks, as always.
So, I finally subbed after lurking at your videos for over a year. I'm excited for the new series, watching you play my beloved England. Thanks Marbz, keep them coming.
the city north of the london might be placed on 2 spots: on top of the stone: grabs all 5 fish tiles, 1 of great barrier riff and mountain. but i don't think there's enough land, no marble in range. on top of the hill where marb pointed: has 3 fish tiles, 2 of great barrier riff and mountain. lots of land. and there's marble. also on top of the hill, great advantage for defense. also when you build stone works you got all +4 production (3 from quarries, 1 from building)
Aw yissss. Another fine Civ series. Maybe England will even be redeemed! Edit: What is happening? This has to be one of the most interesting starts ever.
LOL! Atilla's Court is the first Target in two campaigns! Looks like a really interesting start to this game! Two capitols in range to nab with Ships of the Line! Cheers, Ivan :D
The video didn't show in the feed, even though I'm going to "Subscriptions/uploads" rather than to "recommended", which sometimes "ignores" videos... RUclips gets weird lately...
damn so excited for this series, very exciting with the warmongers everywhere and so much good isolated land for marbozir to settle. Those city locations up north are insane!
I would personally like to thank you for using RED modpack, (no I am not the creator), but it's something I've wanted to see for awhile, makes your 10/10 vids TWICE as good.
Man, that entire island you're on is amazing - there's some incredible canal cities you can start in the north as well. And those AIs are pretty fun, too.
I really like to watch your Civ 5 games Marbozir, keep up the good work! I learned a lot of things in the last few months from your playthroughs and it made me jump from Prince to Deity difficulty. I almost won two days ago a game on Deity as England(my fav civ since their uu`s and ua are great) but my spaceship was 4 turns short from completion. Good luck in your current series, you`ll need it vs Atilla especially early on.
Also if you can, settle the location on Attila's island next to the Copper and Stone, you'll get all the resources on that peninusla, plus a potential landing point for an invasion, just make sure to build up some CBows and lots of other units to defend until LongBows and SotL and then go on the offensive, try to ally with Monty and/or keep him and Attila in conflict so that he's busy and is constantly losing units and building more units.
Hey Marb if you settle on top of that stone in the Great Barrier Reif city you can get all the fish in the area, those 2 extra fish tiles are worth MUCH MUCH more then the extra production you can get by working the stone, please settle in top its much better, thumbs it up people.
This is such a good looking map, fractal throws up some amazing scenery. You could have gone for the faith from natural wonders pantheon and got 2x +4 faith from the GBR, but I guess there's enough copper and iron around for it not to matter. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Absolutely love your stuff Marbs. Maybe settle on the Stone in the new continent, you have another stone nearby and that way you could get all the fish in range.
bfk4130 Well he didn't get the One with Nature pantheon so one is passable for 2 fish tile, remember late game a fish tile is 6 food 1 production and 1 gold. that's 12th food 2 production and 2 gold for 2 production 2 science, 2 food and gold, probably not worth it even though it takes one less population.
This is a tiny, tiny minute detail but it looks like you have an extra hammer on the forest tile across the river from London you could work while you build settlers
thanks for the great new series bro ! interesting start i just manage to beat the King level ai as England in large map at 5th game of my civ game (i never play this game before) all thanks to you sir i probably try emperor difficulty soon hehe PS sorry if my English is abit confusing
I think after discovering great barrier reef I would have switched to optics, taken the free settler from liberty (also speeds settler production) and probably taken one with nature pantheon. If you settle for both tiles its 8 faith a turn and the early science boost would be huge for catching up to ai on deity
While not good for your usual early-game strategy, it's appropriate that you will be forced to build a strong navy and expand overseas for this Civ. As always, Liked and I look forward to Episode 2. Cheers!
also a different city idea: south of london, there is a river. where that river ends, south side of the river, there is a jungle hill tile. it might be a good future city for grabbing all the land on your island. and last city on your main island: south-west of sofia, west adjacent tile of the lake. it is a shame those 2 city doesnt have ANY luxury resouce but you will have to build them eventually, for strategic resources probably. also when you settle on EXACTLY those tiles, no one can settle on your island anymore because of the restriction of city placement.
awesome, I expect this will be a decisive game. watch out tho you might have missed the barb camp because of your installed visual mods, switch to tactical view maybe? Remember to keep an eye open for other potential glitches during war combat.
maybe rush embarkation and settle across the channel next to the stone copper? Great Barrier Reef? Are these the makings of a Marbozir island hop game?
Have you ever thought about recording in polish (even on different channel)? I am sure there might be even more potential viewers in our country than the english ones since we have very strong strategy and crpg communities. Secondly, there are almost no channels like yours, especially not as professional, not only technically but also skillfully. That could've been a nice experience atleast.
Tuvirett Hm, I might consider doing something on a separate channel some time, but I don't think it would be very regular. It might also be slightly awkward, since I'm VERY used to playing everything in English (for the past 20+ years).
if we could build a bridge over one coast tile to link two land masses in civilization 5, by a patch or a mod it would be awesome, or in civilization 6.
Wilkesy7 I mean we've tunneled underneath the English Channel, building a bridge wouldn't be impossible it's just simpler to go underground. (Above ground bridge would get in the way of ships and whatnot). There are some places in the world with really long and not very tall bridges.
Taking calendar before optics seems like a pretty big mistake once you found great barrier reef. Also i would take one with nature pantheon for 8 faith per turn just from GBR (or production from fishing boats.)
Things got REALLY interesting in those last 5 minutes. I was afraid this would be a re-roll if you were completely isolated and alone at that stage of the game. RIP Ottomans.
Hey marbozir, long time fan.... I think you should consider settling on top of the Ivory. You will get one more copper and get the extra gold in your city. Plus ivory tiles often aren't worth working anyway.
your already 5 vids in (just getting started with this series0 but i've noticed you miss a clue in some of your vids, at 18:34 you meet cape town and receive 30 gold. 30 gold is giving to the first civ to meet the city state, this tidbit is more relevant than the city ruins meaning that no other AI is close to this location...love your civ5 series. went and played arabia after you started the last one and Camel archers was very OP but had fun
Really interesting start. Probably want to see where the iron is soon in case you need to adjust where to plant cities. Chances are good you will have some iron in all that land. Looks like longbows aren't going to be very useful - SoL FTW.
Victor Viridian from my experience, Sweden is usually quite powerful as an AI since it normally goes for a nice 50/50 balance between tech & military so they tend to stick around.
Next city should be on the Stone next to mountain, that'll give you 3 Fish, GBR, Observatory, coast, Copper, Stone, and Marble. It's worth it to sacrifice the Stone for more food.
Isn't that just continued communitas project? I had a series with that some time last year, and it made a deity game roughly comparable to king or emperor difficulty.
Marbozir It's like the "spiritual successor" to the communitas project. It's a lot better, and has a lot more features, like smarter AI. For example: the AI moves their starting settler if it detects a better location.
MrErizid Because it's unlikely I'll be working the GBR until turn 120+ or even 150+ and that's just too late to start generating faith from a pantheon. The general rule of thumb for me is that pantheon needs to give immediate or almost immediate benefit (at least on deity). If you have to wait 80+ turns to start getting anything from it, it's a bad pantheon unless you have some way to guarantee getting a religion.
Playing England with TWO islands to yourself and the aggressive AIs killing each other on their own continent? And you get GBR in your third city? The only way this could have been a better England start is if you found GBR on your starting island.
Well. The AIs are sure going to have a good time. Montezuma, Suleiman and Attila sharing an island. What will they do when they are on the same island, around 10 tiles or less away from each other? What could possibly go wrong? I have no idea~ (someone lost their capital) Also, gotta love the 'random' map, which I like to believe that the game sometiimes does not do it quite that randomly. Pseudo-historical true starting locations. The British have their Isles while Europe is just a mess.
your accent makes this 100 times better
England starts on an island?
Sounds legit.
Someone might have pointed this out already, but if you settle your 3rd city on top of the quarry, you'll get copper, a mountain, barrier reef and 5 fish tiles.
Jiawei Zhu he could start two city's
luckyx360 We could al'so learn how to u'se apostrophe's.
Turn 0 save: marbozir.com/civ5saves/england2015lp.zip (should work without scrambled nations / continents)
Thank you for sharing this and the LP.
Marbozir How you say Neuschwanstein is pretty funny for a german ;)
Von Witzleben he's polish
Von Witzleben Wait I'm American but I speak some german from school. I thought he was pronouncing it right how do you pronounce it?
Marbozir "...and I'll see you next time". Yes, yes you will :)
You had one job, Ottomans. *One job!* Distract Atilla! Not "Give him all of your things." Wow.
Marb gets his own little England on this map. Nice. xD
Nice to see The Ottomans again and they're gone.
the city north of the london might be placed on 2 spots:
on top of the stone: grabs all 5 fish tiles, 1 of great barrier riff and mountain. but i don't think there's enough land, no marble in range.
on top of the hill where marb pointed: has 3 fish tiles, 2 of great barrier riff and mountain. lots of land. and there's marble. also on top of the hill, great advantage for defense. also when you build stone works you got all +4 production (3 from quarries, 1 from building)
Dropping a comment to give Part 1 a bump... Much love!

What do you know? Attila is going total war!
Rip ottomans, Episode 1 - Episode 1
Woah you have the weirdest anime as you picture XD
Jalen Livingston Never even seen it. But come on, how can you not love Tomoko?
im_sorry_i_forgot_my_username she is probably the most socially awkward anime girl ever XD
Jalen Livingston That's why everyone loves her. She's relatable.
In other words, we're all massive losers.
im_sorry_i_forgot_my_username i dont relate to her 😂😂
The video didn't show in the feed, even though I'm going to "Subscriptions/uploads" rather than to "recommended", which sometimes "ignores" videos... RUclips gets weird lately...
Yeah, it's been stuck on sending itself to subscribers' feeds for over an hour now (usually takes maybe 5 minutes). RUclips pls.
damn so excited for this series, very exciting with the warmongers everywhere and so much good isolated land for marbozir to settle. Those city locations up north are insane!
I would personally like to thank you for using RED modpack, (no I am not the creator), but it's something I've wanted to see for awhile, makes your 10/10 vids TWICE as good.
Seems like an awesome start, that GBR city will be amazing. Need more episodes...!!
Man, that entire island you're on is amazing - there's some incredible canal cities you can start in the north as well. And those AIs are pretty fun, too.
I'm so happy you decided to revisit England after the failed LP. Thanks!
Fingers crossed for shaka to be in this game
I have a feeling ships of the line will be the camel archers of this game. Looking forward to the play-through, Marbozir!
I really like to watch your Civ 5 games Marbozir, keep up the good work! I learned a lot of things in the last few months from your playthroughs and it made me jump from Prince to Deity difficulty. Yes! Just finished Arabia and now a new Civ 5! AWESOME
this is going to be a very interesting series! can't wait for the next episode!
This is such a good looking map, fractal throws up some amazing scenery. You could have gone for the faith from natural wonders pantheon and got 2x +4 faith from the GBR, but I guess there's enough copper and iron around for it not to matter. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Best civ 5 let's play I've ever seen
Settle on top of the stone on grassland next to the mountain. It takes everything in workable range, even the 2 GBR and all 5 fish and another stone
Absolutely love your stuff Marbs. Maybe settle on the Stone in the new continent, you have another stone nearby and that way you could get all the fish in range.
but out of range of one barrier reef
bfk4130 Well he didn't get the One with Nature pantheon so one is passable for 2 fish tile, remember late game a fish tile is 6 food 1 production and 1 gold. that's 12th food 2 production and 2 gold for 2 production 2 science, 2 food and gold, probably not worth it even though it takes one less population.
MISTAKEWASMADE4live settling for great barrier reef gets him the marble tile north west. settling on stone would miss out on that.
bfk4130 ahh i didn't notice that, that makes it useless then
GUN1GRAVE I see, I guess I'm an idiot...
(Takes gun and points in head)Goodbye world
(Pulls the trigger)
this will be an amazingly fun game, looking forward to it!
It's an interesting start to say the least. I like this, not too easy or obvious.
As soon as you got that archer upgrade on scouts, its pretty much gg
This is a tiny, tiny minute detail but it looks like you have an extra hammer on the forest tile across the river from London you could work while you build settlers
thanks for the great new series bro ! interesting start
i just manage to beat the King level ai as England in large map at 5th game of my civ game (i never play this game before) all thanks to you sir
i probably try emperor difficulty soon hehe

Sweet! been looking forward to an England LP. Yeha
Awesome series Marb hopefully you don't lose like the last game as England
Yay I've been waiting for this!
Cheers from the UK
P.S. England's UU and UI makes it the best civilisation in my opinion 😄
this is going to be very fun to watch
While not good for your usual early-game strategy, it's appropriate that you will be forced to build a strong navy and expand overseas for this Civ. As always, Liked and I look forward to Episode 2. Cheers!
Marbozir I love this series already when you said ethnic units mod! :P

NapalmKid nvm about crossing the channel

Bl1nd0ptix He's mexican chinese!
Bl1nd0ptix
If a nationality exists, Marb has been associated with it. It's become a running gag. :p
I don't even speak Polish and I'd watch that XD
Tuvirett I'd watch it. Just for the accent.
"it's not that bad.. but i'm at six.." i'm laughing so much. this is a great video :)
niceeee thx for new serries, i love your civ5 let's plays.
Attila will trireme spam you if he doesn't have a land connection. It's kind of cute when he thinks he can conquer you with that! XD
if we could build a bridge over one coast tile to link two land masses in civilization 5, by a patch or a mod it would be awesome, or in civilization 6.
Pontoon bridge mod, you can get it right off the Steam workshop. :)
but its not realistic. one sea tile in this game represents a lot of land. It would be like building a bridge from England coast to France
Wilkesy7 I mean we've tunneled underneath the English Channel, building a bridge wouldn't be impossible it's just simpler to go underground. (Above ground bridge would get in the way of ships and whatnot). There are some places in the world with really long and not very tall bridges.
Jacob Butchko thanks.

Hey marbozir, long time fan....
I think you should consider settling on top of the Ivory. You will get one more copper and get the extra gold in your city. Plus ivory tiles often aren't worth working anyway.
A perfect England empire, isolated in they onw island. Gonna be fun!
Monty, nice to meet you old friend!
It doesn't get much more exciting than a bunch of feisty warmongers being all of your neighbors at the start of a deity game :D
your already 5 vids in (just getting started with this series0 but i've noticed you miss a clue in some of your vids, at 18:34 you meet cape town and receive 30 gold. 30 gold is giving to the first civ to meet the city state, this tidbit is more relevant than the city ruins meaning that no other AI is close to this location...love your civ5 series. went and played arabia after you started the last one and Camel archers was very OP but had fun

You should try doing a Deity game using just one city if you haven't already.
Poor Ottomans stuck between Atilla and Monty.
They didn't have a chance.
that 6 movement trireme will explore the whole world
Poor Ottomans didn't stand a chance.
And judging by that proximity, Sweden's next.
Victor Viridian from my experience, Sweden is usually quite powerful as an AI since it normally goes for a nice 50/50 balance between tech & military so they tend to stick around.
This comment is so old but I thought I would say that I love vvvvvv
What the heck, I've never seen a capital taken by turn 79 before. Strange game!
Next city should be on the Stone next to mountain, that'll give you 3 Fish, GBR, Observatory, coast, Copper, Stone, and Marble. It's worth it to sacrifice the Stone for more food.
Plx start the city on the stone next to the g.b.r. You can get 2 extra fish for the cost of 1 stone.
man, you got the three most "peaceful" AIs, monty atilla and suleiman
nice going ottoman, lol
*Finds Ottomans* Eh, not the friendliest Ai of all time either *Finds Monty* I just cracked in laughter at that point xD
I think i would have rocked one with nature on thus map and bee-lined for the barrier reef for my second city
Patrick Storey actually you have a point there since it counts as 2 wonders, what's that +8 faith? jesus
My advanced user interfaced is connected at the top. And whenver I get advanced strategic resources everything overlaps. Help?
Marbozir you should play a game with the Community Balance Patch mod after this one. I really like it, it changes and improves a lot of things.
England is really strong they can conquer their own continent with LBM and with no fear of land invasion they can spam navy like crazy and get ahead.
Hohoho, that GBR location... UNF. Hill+Mountain+GBR+Marble+2 Stone+Copper+3 Fish?
Nice video!
This has all the hallmarks of being a great game !
You should put cities all along the island your on pretty good spot north of cap.
This starting location makes me feel like England in the real world.
No "Hey Everyone" in the beginning?
I love how the AI on Diety gets Great Library by turn 41
I would love to see some new deity twins with quill18 :)
I don't want to watch Marbozir lose though.
idk about passing up a chance for an observatory in your cap..
My hunnic is a little rusty, but I think " *ESSE ATTILA!!!* " roughly translates to "Get fucked."
Hey marbz, late to the party but can I get the seed for the map? I loved the start and id like to play it for myself. Thanks!
Could've gone with One With Nature as you get two tiles for the Great Barrier Reef…
i wonder where that barbarian camp is? (!)
I laughed my ass off when Atiila got Istanbul
My favorite Civ, yes ! :)
Nice. And what about the idea of playing with Marbozir AI mod?
Why is your Tradition tree different from mine? I always need to open Legalism, to get the 2 underneath it. This one starts with Garrison??
lildragon86 Ok nevermind, I am still on 1.0.3.144 .... :/
Hey Marbs great videos as always, in your opinion what are the top tier Civs?
Why not One With Nature pantheon? +8 faith in your GBR City and it wouldn't of taken that long to get.
RIP Ottomans! :( Where will I rest my feet? lol they got wrecked!
The Ottoman Empire if I'm right was destroyed a few months or weeks after windows was invented and turkey replaced it to they died anyway
for me this would be a restart but im sure marbs will pull something out his hat
Playing England with TWO islands to yourself and the aggressive AIs killing each other on their own continent? And you get GBR in your third city?
The only way this could have been a better England start is if you found GBR on your starting island.
Well, I mean it is technically on his island... but yes, getting that in your second city is just way too good.
It's a single island, it's connected up with those mountains.
"It's my island...they took it from me."
Well. The AIs are sure going to have a good time. Montezuma, Suleiman and Attila sharing an island.
What will they do when they are on the same island, around 10 tiles or less away from each other? What could possibly go wrong? I have no idea~ (someone lost their capital)
Also, gotta love the 'random' map, which I like to believe that the game sometiimes does not do it quite that randomly. Pseudo-historical true starting locations. The British have their Isles while Europe is just a mess.
Marbs...why you delete the next video? ):
very jealous of the private continent here, that is something I rarely get despite wanting a lot.
Ottaman biography, they met a civ they died
what ?
Damnit Marb! How is anyone going to find my england LP now! XD
ottomans made a debut for less than 5 minutes
gg
