It made me sad because Azula didn’t talk with ursa when she backed to herself and remember everything. She needs to hear “ I love you Azula, I always do” from her own mother not her illusions
Not to mention, in the comics she kissed Azula while sleeping before going to Zuko and saying her goodbyes. If she knew that.... a lot could have changed.
@President Coin it was a little different for Katara, Aang, and Zuko because they lost Kya, Gyatso, and Ursa and feel somewhat guilty about it because they were lost trying to protect Katara, Aang, and Zuko

I'm glad Ursa decided to get her memories back but.. I feel so bad for Azula. When I found out she traveled with Team Avatar I thought she would be getting a redemption arc too, but this.. is kind of heartbreaking.. To me, she might be the most tragic character in Avatar. She seems so desperate, so lost, so unstable and unloved..
She was given many chances to turn back from her dark path. Her hallucinations were of her mother, telling her she *was* loved, reflecting the truth she knew internally but couldn't accept because of her bitterness and pride. Everyone is given struggles to overcome in their lives. Where does personal responsibility end and unchangeable fate begin? Pity Azula, but she made every choice all on her own. Her misery is self-inflicted. It almost always is.
I’m actually glad they decided to not go with the Ikem is Zuko’s father route. It would completely ruin the “ Your two great grandpa is still fighting in you” development for Zuko

After watching this, everything fell into place. Ozai's treatment of Zuko never fully made sense to me until now. The audience were kids so it made sense for them to leave it out but it's great that it's backed by an actual reason that ties it all together with the rest.
It was actually later revealed in the comic that Zuko isn't Ikem's son. Ursa used it to determine whether or not the letters were actually being read by Ozai.
Yes. Revealing adulterous stuff to kids would have been scandalous and inappropriate. I am glad they didn't otherwise I would have been confused and traumatized as a child.
At the end of the comic, Ursa was like:"It's called karma, darling." I loved her deep bond with his son, also, I was hoping we could have seen her more.
I wish Ursa and Azula had more interactions, from what I've heard and seen Ursa only brings her up once while their on the ship. Real depressing stuff.

I'm so proud of Ursa for confronting Ozai and telling him that she no longer fears him. And of Zuko, for doing the same thing before. Maybe one day, if my dad gets locked up for what he's done, I'll be able to do the same. It's every survivor's dream, in one way or another
I'm a year late but sometimes giving grace to somebody who didn't earn it is the best thing you can do for yourself. I hope your dad tried earning it though

All these years I’m finally at peace with the series. Finished all the seasons in my youth 12 years old now I am 27. I’ve always wondered what happened to zukos mom. Now I know😌
When ursa is ready to go back to the spirit and remember what happened and zuko said " you dont have to do this, you have such a beautiful life here" you can think how much zuko can sacrifice to let his mother be happy..
Some might say she made the wrong choice, but I glad she chose to remember. Even Ikem could have kept his mouth shut about it, but he didn't because he knew how much it meant to Zuko and how much it would mean to Ursa. Yes their lives might have been "perfect", but it was all built on ignorance and false identities. Zuko deserved his mother, and she deserved to know she was no longer a prisoner of her ignorance. Yes, their lives changed dramatically afterwards, and even came with some dangers and risks, but it was worth it. Kiyi got an older brother she could look up to, a bigger family, and even discovered her firebending abilities. She'll be fine.
have to admit, I think the original intention for her to have been Ozai's perfect match that drifted apart over the treatment of their kids sounds a bit more complex and interesting than what ultimately ended up being the case.
The scene where Ursa Scold Ozai, was easily one of my favorite scenes in the comics. I love that Iroh was there for her. I love that Ozai was finally told off (even in his defeat, he wasn't told). And I loooove that Ursa found the strength to say what she needed to say after all those years of abuse....
I understand why Ursa wanted to erase her memories of her children along with gaining a new face. In the comic she mentioned how tortured she was that even though her banishment kept them safe, it was still agonizing not being with them.😢 What’s worse that if she’d got the new face but kept her memories, I think Ursa would’ve been desperately tempted to go back to see & maybe take back her children. Again, it’s excruciating to think about in reminding herself the consequences if she’d gone back😭🥺
The mother-son and father-daughter relationships are very common one parent takes one child and that's why Azula and Zuko became who they are, Zuko could have been much kinder if Ursa wasn't banished

I’ve read “The Search” so many times, & I still can’t get over Ursa’s story, what she’s endured, what she’s sacrificed, & how complex & strong this woman is😄👏🏼
The crazy part is I’m happy she was able to return to her life but for some reason azula is the one I wanted to find peace. She was raised by a monster and wanted to be accepted my her mother but was too far gone. I would have hoped they found a way for her to find some kind of redemption even if only temporarily so she could get that connection with her mother in check. Maybe they will give her a side story and explain everything that happened including after she was never seen again.
nah, i think is more of an realistic apreach for her since azula is far different than zuka and ursa, not all victims are innocent people, the only thing that she cares about is her brother zuko
its too dark. ATLA aired on nickelodeon, so they wouldnt be allowed to air this on TV because its not super kid friendly. its why a lot of the comics are tragic.

The crazy part is I’m happy she was able to return to her life but for some reason azula is the one I wanted to find peace. She was raised by a monster and wanted to be accepted my her mother but was too far gone. I would have hoped they found a way for her to find some kind of redemption even if only temporarily so she could get that connection with her mother in check. Maybe they will give her a side story and explain everything that happened including after she was never seen again.
nah, i think is more of an realistic apreach for her since azula is far different than zuka and ursa, not all victims are innocent people, the only thing that she cares about is her brother zuko

its too dark. ATLA aired on nickelodeon, so they wouldnt be allowed to air this on TV because its not super kid friendly. its why a lot of the comics are tragic.
