Katara is easliy one of the best written characters in modern fantasy, my favorite female one, and one of my top 5 overall. She's as important to ATLA as Aang himself, and by far far more than just being the Avatar's romantic interest. She could hold the story on her own, as proven by the episodes centered around her (you know I'm thinking about the Sourthern Riders). She inspires love, respect, admiration, fear, tenderness, a strenght of will that rivals Iroh, and all ingrained in her personality. If I were a woman I would totally wish to be her. Even as a man, there's so much of her that inspires me as a role model.

Don’t forget the fact that the show literally STARTED and ENDED with Katara, and her voice is in every intro
Pause. She didn't harness the true potential of Bloodbending and the positive aspects of that ability. Instead, she launched a fear campaign against it so that it was only reserved for those criminals who dared use it.

Yes, Katara's the only person who has seen 4 Avatars, but she's not the only person who trained 2 Avatars in her lifetime. Toph also trained both Aang and Korra.

She married Aang. Even though Korra is the avatar too they are different persons, maybe a little heartwarmed, but nothing else
All of her interactions with Korra are so bittersweet knowing she's the reincarnation of her husband of 40 years. I always thought the actors in LoK did a wonderful job conveying that subtext.

Katara IS the best Waterbender 🌊 since she can heal, fight & even Bloodbend if she is ever put in a extreme situation -
whereas the one who taught her Bloodbending & to even use plants for a water source - wasn't shown Healing herself or others with her waterbending.

I love how aang went from shorter then katara probably 4’11 and katara (5,5) to almost the same height as her at the end of the show in one year (5,3) and 1-4 months after the show ended in the comics he was the same height as katara (5,5) and then taller then katara 5 months into the comics (5,7) (btw guys I’m just making assumptions on how tall they are I’m just using the heights to say how much he grew
he also got way more buff
And when they were adults he was the tallest of the team avatar
I mean he was just 12, it was expect for him to have a height boost. But I would love to see the comedy between zuko and aang as he starts to see up to look at aang. 😌🤣
Atla, the comics, and Korra was just
Something to experience. There is nothing quite like it, and so few works as well crafted. Every single character had so much development in so many different ways that even over a decade after airing, people are still discovering such small details. The characters are so well crafted they seem more real than the people watching the show.
The experience this world gave us was lightning in a bottle, and ruined television for hundreds of thousands of people because it was just so well made that very little will be able to hold a candle to it.
Aang literally hit the JACKPOT
People complain how Legend of Korra world evolved to soon .... But with these comics, we can see that right after the end of the war, the world was already rapidly changing. Something similar to the industrialization process we had in our world. It's no surprise to me that in Korra's time there were already big cities and technology

Katara was the only waterbender after the show who got to be able to bloodbend and did not want to use it again

Hey as a kid I watched this and essentially based myself on katara. It’s because of you guys that I am the caring person I am today. Thank you for showing a powerful loving young woman to me at that age. I’m better for it.

Man the episode with Korra and Katara after she gets poisoned was so hard to watch, being in a wheelchair myself. It was hard watching what I had to go through over again but honestly Katara helping her made me feel better about the episode
They passed to industrial revolution so fast after the war. I think this process harms the spirit of the Avatar series. It would be much more appropriate if they kept the story without changing technology too much. The universe of ATLA is so rich I'm sure they could have made better. Just the sprit world is sufficient for an other trilogy not to mention the perfect characters of fire nation such as Azula and past Avatars.
Avatar the last Airbender plays takes place during the 19th century. The Industrial revolution had already begun. The Fire Nation with their Navy ships, industry plants and ballon ships. Ozai's portrait in the royal palace resembles the industrial revolution. Ba Sing Se uses trains and have underground stations. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko never intended that the avatar universe should just take place in the ATLA timeline. Changes and advancement are necessary. You can't stuck forever in this one timeline.
@@abu9822 actually all these things that you mentioned works with bending. Therefore it is not really industrial revolution. However in the comic books they start to do these without using bending that is industrial revolution.
@@melihdurmus2093 Uh...yes. It actually is industrial revolution. Bending being used as tools to progress it is irrelevant. The Fire Nation in ATLA is basically Meiji-era Japan. You're also forgetting that one of the themes in the series was innovation and modernism. When Katara said "Everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked," she wasn't just talking about the disruption of peace and balance, she meant that the entire world was changed forever and nothing will ever be the same. For better or worse, the Hundred Year War shed the skin of the old world.
@@melihdurmus2093 The firenation ships during ATLA uses coal to be powered, and if they use coal for that, they also likely use it for other things. So yes that is industrial revolution. Now, the trains in Basing se aran't an example of the industrial revolution though.
@@MDP1702 The key defining aspect of the industrial revolution is not the use of coal power, it's mass-production. While I agree with OP somewhat, during the ATLA era the fire nation had already a semblance of this, evidenced by their tanks, ships and vessels, but at the same time it seems to be only limited for military products. It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that, due to the unique setting of the Avatar world (specifically the existence of Benders), the industrialization process is present but comparatively slower. Think about it, irl us non-benders had to figure out different and ever more efficient ways to heat a furnace so hot that it melts steel, whereas with benders you rely entirely on manpower to do this. They literally exhaust themselves just keeping the fires burning, so there's only so much that can get done just relying on fire bending. This, coupled with the war, it's very likely that it has been fire nation policy to focus industry entirely on military production.
You could argue that the great triumph of Republic City is how it opened up industry to all, through the cooperation of any and all types of people, benders and non benders alike.
While everyone had a crush on Toph or Ty Lee I always liked Katara more she is just more trust worthy

The narrator made an error - She said that Tenzin and Pema had four children, 'all' of whom were airbenders. It isn't confirmed that Rohan is an airbender.
It is, Katara herself sensed that he'd be an air bender when Pema was still pregnant, in one of the first episodes of LoK
