5:56 - I want to apologize for misspeaking in this video regarding Vaatu's fate. I incorrectly stated that Vaatu was imprisoned in the Tree of Time for another 10,000 years. In reality, as clarified by the creators, Vaatu was defeated during the Harmonic Convergence, leaving him so weak that he is unable to affect the world at this point. Michael Dante DiMartino explained that Vaatu's presence remains faint, and his influence won't become an issue until the next 10,000-year cycle, when the Avatar of that era will have to contend with him. I appreciate your understanding and apologize for the oversight!
I'm actually not against a "dark avatar", if they "revert" for Vaatu and Raava to be spirits of law and chaos. Especifically with the twins being raised in high society and the streets. The one raised in privilege would strive for balance, while the one raised in the streets would strive for change (which is something both Aang and Kora did, so... ehhh). If they change stuff from Season 2 of Kora, I don't think people will mind.
I would’ve thought that Vaatu would just need to be reawakened like what happened with Raava. Vaatu was destroyed and is dormant inside Raava, waiting to be woken up and separated.
Haha, I was about to correct you. The Dark avatar would make more canonical sense, as it would make less sense that Raava who is fused with Wan's spirit could be divided into 2. Neither makes all that much sense tbh.
Antoine Bandele I think the rumors about the earthbender avatar series might changed overtime, like we don't know who will be the real earthbender avatar who succeeded Korra and what we're gonna have in the earthbender avatar series. We either have a male earthbender avatar who looks a lot like genji like what we all expected, or the female amputee avatar that we all see in this video who has a twin brother (or sister) who is actually the dark avatar, who knows of what's going to happen in the future, who knows (note: I'm not saying that I disagree with the female amputee avatar with a dark avatar twin and favoring the genji thing when it was first announced by Avatar News on December 23rd 2022, I'm saying that I'm not sure of what we're actually gonna have by the time the earthbender avatar series was actually announced by both Michael DiMartino and Byran Konietzko)
@@darthgoku1580 yeah that was my first thought, especially with one who was abandoned for some reason, it just sounds like a harry potter wbwl fanfic just set in the avatar verse
It certainly is.. an idea. But I was really expecting the next avatar to be male. Like a back and forth thing. Though Roku into Aang was two men, so, I guess two women in a row also makes sense. Now that I think about it.... most of the past avatars were men. Like... this might be the first known avatar cycle where two women were the avatar back to back.
It’s been pretty balanced with Yang Chen, Kyoshi, and Korra & Kuruk, Roku, and Aang. I’m not sure who was before Szeto but I’m guessing it was a woman. Balance and all.
@@AiringAustin true, but if we look at a lot of the older avatars in the background, most of them are men, even in a row. granted, they're unnamed men, but there are instances of two or more men being the avatar in the row. This might be the first instance that the avatar has been a woman twice in a row. Korra was made female to contrast Aang. But I trust that if Bryke chose to make another female protagonist, they probably have a good reason beyond what they had for Korra. There's probably a good world, character, or story reason they made it another female lead.
I noticed in the show it alternated genders between the same element. Ang and Yangchen, Korra and Kurik. That did hold up with the previous previous fire avatar though.
If we look into the cycle of avatars that we know, we have "Salai" (Idk if it's his canon name), Szeto and then Yangchen (male-male-female). After her we have Kuruk, Kioshi, Roku, Aang and Korra (male, female, male, male, female). So my theory was that the cycle goes like this: two males - female - male - female - two males - female, etc. Ngl if we have another female avatar it kinda breaks this theory
@@DiasZhansultan @fandomonium3789 why do you try to set up a pattern from like 10 instances you know, that is mathematically stupid? there were 1000 lifetimes, even if there were 100 consecutive females or males that wouldn't change the likelihood of the avatar's gender? just like having siblings it is always %50 female %50 male or close. and like how do you count the males in a 5 second animation and think that means anything, even the actual script was changed multiple times, even the most basic things like azulon's reign duration. do you think they would give an actual care to how many males the animators drew?
Well I'm not sure about what we're gonna have once it became real but I might say that legend of genji could be like set in alternative universe where Korra died alot younger and also theirs a false avatar crisis with Luan (the false avatar) and Genji (the real avatar). Which is the same like the plot of the web series, but let's say it's set in an alternative universe if Korra died alot younger at the age of 39
same, both korra and atla are good in their own right. anything new is just an added bonus. these guys are great story tellers whatever they come up with, ill be surprised if its not entertaining.
The thing I'm most curious about is this cataclysm. It's hard to even imagine what event would be so extreme that it would actually end the four nations.
@@ParrettI think the tech advances were already there. The 4 nations system going away isn't surprising. It's like how cities are "havens" for growth, development, and wealth, when people have more disposable income, are able to travel more, and information is made more available people will migrate and mix. Diversity of skills breeds innovation, Republic City was the beginning. Different cities will have their own flavors based on history, location, and demographics, etc. As far as how the cataclysmic even changes things idk.
I just saw TheAvatarist's video the same leak, he apparently saw the same animatic. He says the world outside the heavens are post-apocalyptic. So maybe the Havens were formed partially if not entirely out of necessity.
The writers gotta be reading fanfic because there was so many "twin avatar" stories 😄. I would love if one twin was the Avatar while the other is just a prodigy. It'll also be cool if the they bend different elements
Yess that would be cool. It would also be great potential for drama and emotional arcs. Like the one twin not feeling good enough and feeling like they're in the others shadow
I’m not a fan of going to a cyberpunk setting, I see it as a leap too big but I am willing to give it a chance, as I love the series! I think the separation of nations should be a major plot throughout the series than just mentioned in the opening, like we can have small nations already established from the earth kingdom and the water tribe during the show more and more nations want to separate
Another thing is I hope the animation is top tier and I know animation takes time and animations need proper conditions and fair payment, I just don’t want this series to have the same stiffness as invincible s2 (I love the show btw)
yeah going from industrial revoIution straight to cyber future within a century is really wacky for any story. I really hope they don't make this mistake, I want to see contemporary avatar.
@@kairi4640 I get that it was their original vision and some would like to see that but in my opinion the fans are too accustomed to the world they already created
@@waluigisim True, but that's not the story we got in the end. We don't know if the original concept would've been as good as what we got, so it makes sense to get nervous over such a massive change to the world we know and love. Not that I'm saying that cyberpunk is bad, I love me some cyberpunk, though I am a little nervous from the idea of cyberpunk avatar, especially after Korra...
Its because these creators just want to milk their one good creation. If they want to do a cyberpunk show just make one. This idea has nothing to do with Avatar. So leave ATLA out of it. They already ruined its legacy imo
I hope to see a project at some point about the Earth Avatar before Kyoshi. He's among the most recent avatars and I've seen a lot of pictures with the latest Avatars in which he's the last mystery character. Most fans theorise he's Salai, named in the Kyoshi novels, but I think that his past life is Gun, the Avatar who grew disdainful of humanity. That would be an interesting topic. My logic behind this: Gun lived in the Ru Ming Era, which on Wan Shi Tong's calendar appears 3 eras before Yangchen's. Maybe an era is associated to the latest Avatars... Wonder how Salai will fare knowing what impact his past life had. Simply put, his story has a lot of potential.
Seeing lots of comments complaining it's two female avatars in sequence, but no one said anything when Roku and Aang happened. I think as long as the story is nice, and the character is cool, it has all the chances to be fitting and real good. Mostly in this setting. Super hyped for this sequence! ;]
@@meduzsazsa8490 but there's no confirmation that this is the exact cycle since Wan, or that gender is part of the cycle and not just simply who the Avatar is born in the new reincarnation. It's all supposition, and it's weird to see so many people even angry that there's a chance the next Avatar will be female. The gender of the character shouldn't matter, as long as the story is nice and make people feel nice. Plus, this new setting looks really neat, so I'd be excited to watch regardless of gender.
*laughs in Kyoshi* but no seriously a Kyoshi 2.0 would be so lame. Someone like Yun who was an earth bender / assassin type would’ve been fun to watch.
@@AiringAustin that’s what I’m saying. I feel like a male avatar could’ve been more fitting and would be cooler. I think it would fit the theme of avatar cycle too. Kuruk is male = Korra is female Yangchen is female = Aang is male There are probably some none explored avatars that don’t apply to this concept but I think I’d think it fit more than just having another kick ass girl boss avatar ngl
For the sake of variety I agree, since the last one was female. Maybe they want to differentiate from genji. I just hope she has a different enough personality than korra
I like the idea that one of the twins will have Raava and be a reincarnation of Korra while the other twin has Vatuu and is a reincarnation of Korra’s uncle. Keep in mind that Raava told Wan that if Vatuu is ever destroyed he will reincarnate inside of her and vice versa if she is destroyed. My theroy is that Vatuu will return but since he posessed a human he will reincarante into the next Dark Avatar cycle just like Raava. Perhaps this will be an opportunity for Raava and Vatuu to learn to work together in Harmony as a true Yin and Yang, resorting peace and balance into the world.
That wouldn't make sense. Vaatu won't be back for another 10,000 years. Plus, Vaatu is inside Raava. It wouldn't make sense to split. It'd also mean there'd always be a Dark Avatar. Pretty sure fans didn't like the Dark Avatar storyline. Besides; this "Dark Avatar Twin" would only able to bend 1 Element. Their native Element.
@ Its possible that because Vatuu posessed a human he will return the same way an Avatar does when they die, “reincarnate” and who knows maybe the dark avatar will be able to bend more than 1 element, Korra’s uncle just didn’t learn the other 3.
I'm uncertain, because such a setting change is not a bell you can un-ring, unless there's an apocalyptic scenario that resets the world. Going this direction shifts a lot of storytelling options. For comparison, think about how many older plots effectively no longer work thanks to the existence of cell phones.
he missed the fact that korra destroys the world leading to it becoming apocalyptic with the addition of the havens to separate people and cultures. I saw on avatarist who has more info
Of all the news, that’s what you’re worried about? Technology is part of natural evolution. It has to happen in every cinematic universe. It’s called world building. I would prefer a cyberpunk setting actually but they said they’re going down the apocalyptic route (probably with spirits). You shouldn’t expect cell phones as in smartphones. There isn’t going to be that type of reception in that setting…
@@jinx-1 your reading comprehension is lacking. I used an *example* of how the existence of cell phones changes storytelling possibilities to illustrate how a cyberpunk setting would be a big shift. I'm not saying I'm worried about cell phones. Again, as an *example*, in a more modern setting we wouldn't have had a long search for Appa in season 2 of ATLA if Suki could just text Sokka "oh hey, I found him!" Or, Aang wouldn't have been surprised by the fall of Omashu if they had radio. "There is no war in Ba Sing Se" would have to be completely reworked.
Do cell-phones exist here? Assuming they do, though, there is still a whole spankin' world of things that you can do while cellphones exist. And maybe only some of the havens actually have cellphones and tech. That could be a plot point of it's own, honestly
I agree it's good that Bryan and Mike are trying new stuff. They could easily make another series following the blueprint of ATLA, but as great as ATLA is, we need new, not more.
@@khamalmccrea2616 I will indeed watch ATLA again, thanks~ But to your point, you may have misunderstood my comment if you think I don't want new stuff. I am expressing my support of the Avatar universe going to new and uncharted places, especially with Mike and Bryan at the helm.
with korra they were doomed from the start. production problems, nick sabotaging them, major budget issues. so many issues with korra, and it still turned out very good (IMO). imagine what they would've done knowing they had 4 seasons and no crazy time constraints. if the new series isn't at least a 7/10 ill be very surprised.
Tell me there's still a chance this isn't real. I don't want to see the destruction of Avatar culture and the world its just not good. like at this point everything aang and korra did to protect world was for nothing it could be amazing idea for something new but not for avatar world
@@toasterowens8916is our world static? Maybe Northern Water Tribe becoming like islamistic countries from our world, taking the rights of women, trying to spread their religious views on others, especially Southern Water Tribe? All that with URN playing the world police and threating with spirital nuke weapons. There's so much potential for the future, but I guess they like destroying the 10 thousand years of history and culture 😢
I’m pretty hung on these leaks. On one hand a future like setting with the havens is kinda cool, but on the other hand it’s so different. I guess we’ll just need to see it
I... want to like this... but i also do genuinely think that they are better off going back in time not forwards post-Korra. I think the feudal setting is something that really made Avatar unique and interesting. And while a post-apocalyptic world could be interesting to explore - a lot of the ideas in this leak have me concerned about the quality of things, especially where certain elements are just outright copies of Kyoshi or Roku lore (which is equally concerning if we're gonna be getting movies covering the events for those Avatars also). But, naturally since this is a leak, I'll wait and see what is actually making it into a finished product.
I hope this is inaccurate. This is why: We've already seen a female Earth Avatar, but we HAVEN'T seen a (main protagonist) male Earth Avatar. Same thing for Fire-- if they do another series after this, we could have a female Fire Avatar (which we haven't seen) as opposed to another male. Please Bryke 😭🙏
The female Avatar is accurate. I've seen her and her mechanical leg myself. All other aspects of the story, like the twin, is unconfirmed (at least, I've not actually seen the twin, only heard about the twin).
People want the powers split but it makes no sense in the lore, lore has shown this isn’t the case, and it ignores the idea that twins are their own people
Ya the twin aspect doesn't really make to much sense. Having a sibling relationship could switch it up since we haven't seen that with Korra or Anng. I assume the twin will either be an Earth bender or a non-bender. I can totally see the plot where they always feel outshined especially if they can't bend.
The things that are facts from the animatics: there are hover boards, there are new hubs and havens, and the new Avatar is an amputee. The other stuff is heresay. But the former items are things I've actually seen in unfinished animatics.
Alrighty, how far are we going to push this series before it just isn’t Avatar anymore 😅 Like no more Four Nations? What?! And how on earth is something going to happen in Korra’s time that brings them from the 1920’s into the far future?! Technology doesn’t work like that. Especially with cataclysmic events thrown in
I don't mind the avatar having a twin, but I don't think their can be twin avatars though since that would require two spirits and the idea of Raava splitting just don't well with me. A twin sibling is fine and it will be next to see an avatar have a sibling to lean on for support.
@@RomanHistoryFan476AD That depends. I personally had wanted an Avatar from the Si Wong Tribe (Sandbenders). Living in the Desert until they reveal they are the Avatar. I wouldn't mind a sibling for the Avatar. Just not another twin.
7 havens… unique identities… Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Metal, Swamp, Non Bending? Just a thought, maybe in the apocalypse elements don’t matter for separation anymore. Was just thinking that if Zao Fu were to survive it would make its own haven culture. Maybe Sand instead of Swamp or Non Bender.
@ Well the the thing is we *know* that there are cultures that revolve around Metal, Sand and the Swamp. Zhao Fu is the Metal Clan, there are Sandbenders in the desert and there are Swampbenders in the Swamp. There’s not cultures of people who just do Lightning or Lava
@ Maybe, but considering this, probably isn’t hundreds of years in the future, I would think cultures like that would be a thing yet. Or at least not that big. This if the next Avatar after Korra so it would probably have to be less than a hundred years since the end of LoK.
7 havens Ba sing se, Wolfs cove, Agne Kella (northern water tribe), Republic city, Fire capital city ( forgot if it had a name), Zao fu, and an unnamed 7th one that the new protagonist is born in
Everything about the plot is going in the direction that the fans hate, and some of the plot is just being reused, instead of tapping into that immensely complex and interesting lore already established, and going into the peak possibilities that AtLA set up for the future.
I think the new ideas and plot sounds interesting, but I am also not sure how the whole twin Avatar thing will play out. I am hoping that it will be a great plot and that the setting will be more modern. Imagine Airbenders riding on an air hoverboard where the hoverboard controls itself according to the Bender's will. That will be epic.
I'm definitely excited for a new avatar series but i don't want the next avatar to be a girl i feel like people have problem in writing female protagonist for some reason 😂
Honestly I think that after this project is done and the new series come out people are gonna say 'Nah,Atla and Tlok were better' and I'm ready for it😭
I was kinda hoping for the cyberpunk avatar as im a big fan of cyberpunk 2077 and edge runners. Think it would be cool but post apocalyptic setting is also cool af as I also play Rust 😅
@@smallJuuMer it kinda gave me rust vibes too, it sounds pretty chaotic. Honestly I don't like the idea but as long as it's good I won't mind. I really hope they don't mess it up though and do anything that feels ridiculous or not true to Avatar
I agree, but the problem is Korrra was industrial age (hundreds of years ago), so I don't think they should jump half a millennium and go straight to cyber futuristic, all within one avatar's life, and Korra does not Iive that long. It wouldn't make a lot of sense tbh. They should set this one in modern times, then the next fire avatar in a cyber future.
Vaatu is not stuck in the tree of time any more. Where Wan imprisoned Vaatu, Korra killed the spirit. In "Korra Alone", Korra literally goes into the tree of time (which is empty) to meditate. In "the beginnings" Raava told Wan, that when Vaatu dies, it will start growing within Raava, and vice versa. This is because a little bit of the other always exists within booth Raava and Vaatu.
Apologies, but this sounds like a dumpster fire in the making. I am looking forward to the traditional Avatar movies and series. What's number one on my list? The series or movie about Avatar Kiyoshi. I've read both Kiyoshi novels as well as both Yangchen novels, and I am telling you, that is what I want to see.
Chronicles of the avatar series is it great because it does new things while still feeling exactly like the avatar series. It helps expand the charm of this world and these leaks seem to be taking that away.
I just hope they watch The Acolyte and not write twin like that. Also it will be cool they turn out to be a clone, instead of normal twin, like Tales of the Abyss anime/games. Identity crisis is a solid plot point.
So basically it turns into our earth since you mentioned 7 lands. Also the concept seems interesting I think what happened is that the new spirit portal might've had to be something to do with everything.
I'm very worried. This setup doesn't really make sense. But, let's get into it. I'm guessing the girl (Avatar?) is just fan art. The blue eye might make sense as she could be part Water Tribe. But, if she is born to Earth Cycle; she should have a green eye. Why would she have a purple eye? That isn't one of the 4 Nations. Unless, (counting Republic City) each Nation gets its own "Haven". But, that would be 4 Havens plus Republic City. Leaving 2 unknown. Does (or would) that mean they would be adding Elements? Purple (if representing another Nation) would fit another Element. (Unlikely but, what else are we going to talk about here?) But, if it were, Darkness/Shadow is the closest fit to the color. Which would make Light the 6th known Primary Element. Since this would happen (likely long) after Korra; they'd need discovered and integrated. Which is why it's a long shot. (Out side of the fact she should be Earth Kingdom.)
@@elsafowl if they want it to take place in some sort of futuristic cyberpunk era then she would have to I assume. But for the legend of genji fan series she dies pretty young at like 39. I kinda like that version
@alexbones0001 Yeah, that's my hope. If they want to go from the 40s to cyberpunk, they'd need quite the time jump. Also, if Korra is literally remapping all of the nations, I imagine it wouldn't take her 2 business days! And yeah, I've red the Legend of Genji, and that's like the only thing I disliked about the idea. Korra spends all of her seasons being beaten up by ever more powerful villains, and she should die in a terrorist attack at barely 30/40 years old? Yeah nah
Although I love the cyberpunk genre, an avatar series taking place in a cyberpunk setting makes about as much sense as a star wars story taking place in a different galaxy. They should have just made a series based on the shadowrun universe or created an entirely new ip if they wanted to do cyberpunk that bad. Also two female eartbender avatars in a row seems pretty damn repetitive, it would have been refreshing to go with a different element or at least switch up the genders.
A lot of cool ideas here. It could go wrong, but I think it's kind of exciting that they're doing something different instead of playing it safe, especially with the political situation of the four nations. Although I think the twin idea would be kind of silly unless it's done in a very limited way. I agree that it would be best to avoid retreading the Dark Avatar idea. 5:56 I thought Korra initially attempted to seal Vaatu in the Tree of Time again, but he was then ultimately destroyed, and is growing inside Raava until he re-emerges. Unless I'm forgetting something? Of course, we'll just have to see how it turns out.
The problem is this isnt new like you said the twins thing is roku, the false avatar is kyoshi, and the haven cities that protect people from spirits is wan this is kind of redundant. Also i kinda dont like the destruction of the 4 nations it sorta undoes a bit too much
there has been another nation "the fifth nation" in the kyoshi books, so it is possible. Also United republic is already the new fifth nation in the avatar world. the Earth kingdom is so diverse, that there's bound to be a wake for change like we see in book 3/4. There's no way people realistically will just sit back and have the same outlook after zaheer and kuvira.
Even tho it does sound interesting, I sincerely hope this is fake. I can't imagine a world without Fire Nation, Water Tribes etc even United Republic, it was a brand new thing and now it's destroyed :( Looks like the writers really want Korra to be a new Wan. She restarted the cycle and now she restarted the whole history. Now there will be new nations, new cultures, new countries etc nothing will be the same. And of course Korra will get even more hate and will probably be remembered as one of the worst avatars by the world even tho she deserves to be one of the best avatars, if not the best.
Sort of destroys everything aang and zuko did. I think it makes any of the new material set in the old eras obsolete. I mean why care if you know it's all going to be destroyed.
@@snoonan768Things Change and Life goes on even after Republic City was established by Aang and Zuko in Korra TV show so of course it's gonna get destroyed.
I don’t like this. It doesn’t feel like Avatar. One of the main themes of Avatar, literally established in its lore, is the four nations based on their element. I do not like the idea of getting rid of that. Also, I think the idea of a twin avatar and a false avatar is played out. We’ve seen an avatar with a twin in Roku, and we’ve seen a false Avatar durning Kyoshi’s time. This just feels like slamming those two stories together. Lastly, I’m okay with a cyberpunk aesthetic but not yet. Aang’s time to Korra’s time shows a natural technological progression. Easily comparable to the mid 1800s for Aang to the 1920s for Korra. Depending on how long Korra lived we should see something more like today’s technology. Maybe shelf the cyberpunk theme for an avatar or two later.
It's kind of funny that this is going to be the third false Avatar to a real Avatar rack to riches plot line in a row.Well second but you know what I mean
Right!? Well, this would really just be the second (that is if you're referring to Legend of Genji, which was a fan project that many mistaken for a canon thing).
@@AntoineBandeleI am preferring to that because well, it is kind of funny when you think about it, even that was a fan projeit. Was interesting and it is kind of funny that this happens 3 times if you think about it. But really this is the second time. No offense to how they identify the average heart in the earth kingdom but they have terrible luck with it
This is why as weird as it would be, I think the "one of them gets all four elements and one of them gets the avatar state" might make the most sense story-wise, especially if they are separated... The one the White Lotus would have identified would be the 4 elements bender presumably, but they could easily overlook the Avatar state. And at least it would be different than the situation with Kyoshi because it's not a false Avatar, they're kinda both the Avatar?
I am so looking forward to seeing those animatics that you were shown! I am dying to get some new Avatar on our hands so that we as a fandom can come back and talk about it all the time. I am down for all these details if they are true and my curiosity has been peaked.
I just saw someone’s comment on another video saying the “avatar like” powers could be energy bending. Maybe the twin does energy bending which is why they were confused with the avatar while the poor twin is the avatar who bends all 4 elements? Hm I honestly don’t know what energy bending really is, but I mean there’s a theory! I remember there was a rumor that this series has more energy bending. Maybe this is it!
Cyberpunk nice concept but why do the protagonist have to be a female(i have no problem with female characters but we already have kyoshi) we don't know any male Earth bender Avatar and i would have liked a female fire bending Avatar but oh well at least we know a new series is in the works the only problem is when
I have not watched you in years definitely about to go back and catch up on things can’t wait for this series and this will be interesting wonder will the Korra movie be about the event you talking about in this video Also do you still do Star Wars videos to
Im fine with creators taking big swings and trying to go in a different direction but like you gotta stay true to your series. Korea was too much of a change and they think this will be okay. just completely and utterly change the entire world that avatar is. Korra was like borderline still part of the same world as anng this new avatar is in a different universe that’s how drastic they are going. They only thing that fans will be able to recognize from previous shows is that the can Bend events. Let’s just hope it’s not telekinesis bending and instead actual bending. so sad what they are doing to this great franchise
@@canadianchaos1517 to my knowledge (I could easily be wrong, haven’t read all the book/comics) Kyoshi was the only one who lived that long. Like 230 years right? And she used a technique she learned from an old bandit to do so. Idk how Korra would learn that, or if she would even want to? She seems like the kind of person that wouldn’t want to live for a few hundred years after all her friends are gone. But idk
To be fair: 7 Nations might as well be Fire Nation Northern Water Tribe Now Independant Southern Watertribe Republic City Earth Federation Earth Empire New Air Nation
Antoine Bandele I think the rumors about the earthbender avatar series might changed overtime, like we don't know who will be the real earthbender avatar who succeeded Korra and what we're gonna have in the earthbender avatar series. We either have a male earthbender avatar who looks a lot like genji like what we all expected, or the female amputee avatar that we all see in this video who has a twin brother (or sister) who is actually the dark avatar, who knows of what's going to happen in the future, who knows (note: I'm not saying that I disagree with the female amputee avatar with a dark avatar twin and favoring the genji thing when it was first announced by Avatar News on December 23rd 2022, I'm saying that I'm not sure of what we're actually gonna have by the time the earthbender avatar series was officially announced by both Michael DiMartino and Byran Konietzko)
Really loving the new avatar and the concept of the twins! The futuristic, apologetic setting is such a cool twist, and I’m really curious about how the twin theory will work. Will both of them have the Avatar's powers, or is only one destined to carry that responsibility? I’m excited to see how this dynamic plays out, especially with the world now having seven nations instead of four. Can’t wait to learn more!
I'm not rlly thrilled or looking forward to any of these big changes and they all ick me of and make me scared but i have deep trust in the creators to pull of any crazy idea and concept to my and hopefully many ppls liking
I really like this concept. Like in The Legend of Genji fan project, an unknown Avatar who be overshadowed by the false Avatar sounds really interesting to me
Honestly interested in the cyberpunk setting, especially with spirits since Korra decided to let humans n spirits live together in peace. Wonder what’s the positive n negative sides of Korra’s decision n see how the next Avatar (Or Avatars) handle this
I would like Sozin's Comet to be revealed to have been a powerful Dragon that a past avatar had to imprison in some meteorites, and going around the sun's orbit has allowed for the Dragon's fire to touch every firebender.
The new Avatar story with the Earth Avatar being a twin feels kinda similar to Star Wars: The Acolyte in some ways. Both deal with ancient powers coming back and personal struggles in a messy, complicated world. The sibling dynamic might even have some parallels if their paths or beliefs clash. That said, while The Acolyte is all about the rise of the dark side in space, Avatar is more about balance, bending, and the spiritual journey of the Avatar. It’s got its own vibe, even if the themes overlap a bit!
I'll be honest, I don't like the idea of Avatar going too cyberpunk bc I feel like it'll strip away much of what makes the Avatar world what it is. I'd rather not go from roaring 20s aesthetics to straight up futuristic. Feels like skipping an entire century of history to me & I don't think it's a very natural progression from LoK. Personally, I think there's more interest in the fanbase for learning more about past Avatars & more about what leads into prior projects. It's why I've enjoyed the novels so much. I'd rather have a series about a past Avatar than a new one myself, perhaps one based on Wan or the 2nd Avatar. Albeit I do still welcome new projects, but I still think it would be more sensible to have a 1980s period, seeing as Avatar as a whole has always been very close to real world events that took place in Asia. Either way, hope they tread carefully & avoid making the same mistakes as the Netflix adaptation & losing what made Avatar so compelling to begin with.
Yeah, I think it would have been more interesting to have a male Earth Avatar and a female Fire Avatar, so that it would be different from the previous cycle. But I don't think it's that big of a deal.
It should have been a boy according to the gender cycle. I know it's not a confirmed thing, but it always was male-female-male-male-female And now the cycle is broken (it's also broken due to waterbending avatar before Kuruk being male instead of female like he was supposed to be). I really think it should've been a male so the uncomfirmed gender cycle finally becomes comfirmed
Idk. I kinda don't like the futuristic elements. I like ancient asian world settings like in ATLA. And they are thinking too big it seems. Korra dealt with many big things. How many world ending scenerios did she encounter? I kinda wish story was like ATLA. Simple stuff
My thing is. Idk if I’m excited about the leaks of the new series but at the same time korra grew on me and the world was different there so maybe the will stick the landing. And at the same time with the 3 movies coming out scratches the itch of the old feel and old characters so it might be the best of both worlds
Avatar can't be twins Because there is only Avatar Wan's soul going through the avatar cycle The avatar can be part of a twin But unless Avatar Wan's soul can be slipt into two like horcruxes There can only be ONE avatar at the same time Decades of the Avatar: The last airbender was released Some people still don't get how reincarcation works.
I thought I'd hate the change that the 4 nations would be gone but honestly I think it's kinda cool. Always keeping things the same would eventually make the story go stale and the writers know that
@@AntoineBandeleI mean yes and no? Realistically speaking the 4 nations would still exist and would predominately still have people indigenous to it locations - in our real world example majority of nations are still homogeneous with a few exceptions ie japan, Philippines, China, Nigeria etc. America is a unique example given the history.. With that being said, if it’s a post apocalyptic event the forces the world to change its dynamic then that would be interesting see, but its has to be done well and make sense
Correct. If there wasn't this cataclysmic event that's being rumored then it would be a more gradual turn. You're right, many places in our modern world are still homogeneous. The difference here is the fantasy aspect. Where it seems like Korra will be breaking that all up and speeding things along.
I don’t wanna form any opinions until I’ve actually got to see it for myself. But your videos giving us more insight is appreciated though! I’m just a bit careful getting hyped for anything these days. Don’t wanna end up disappointed…
how does the twin avatar make sense when there is only one raava? that just makes no sense, it also sounds pretty whack to begin with i think bryke are some of the worst cases of original creators continuing their own IP, they've clearly demonstrated that with LOK... avatars identity does not just revolve around bending and the avatar but it seems like thats what theyre taking from it. they showed some technological advancement during atla and then felt the need to push that on further and further... its a fantasy world, things dont always have to run the way our world does.... just look at star wars... its so far "advanced" yet during the long timeline covered by its story we se little to no technological advance and even if, it usually doesnt affect everything or change the way star wars feels. its also the reason why alien romulus was so loved because it took the style of designs from the original, unlike ridley scott's prequels that tried to make it look more akin to our imagination of what spaceships look like... it doesnt really work in the end, they dont make you think alien and therefore they kinda failed. with avatar its the same... and i hate the theme that they dont seem to want to write better storys, just "bigger" ones with "bigger" events, in lok it started being annyoing, like really? aang only had ozai and people connected to him as big bads, in LOK theres a new organisation that wants to wipe out the avatar (sometimes indirectly) every season... im not even particularly optimistic for this show, we just have to wait and see. im also worried about how a cyberpunk style world will go in hand with bending...
If they do twin Avatars now, the most it should be, is one is the avatar and the other is a normal bender. No splitting of the elements. The whole “one can use avatar state, the other can bend” is the weirdest theory I’ve heard thus far. Personally I think the best twin avatar storyline would be in 10k years and one twin is born with Raava and the other with Vaatu
I’m so pissed the avatar isn’t a dude. We just spent the last decade with Korra I want it to be a guy. Especially since Korra got to be queer and so did Kyoshi… I’d like to see that with a new MALE avatar potentially.
would be interesting if they only had access to 2 elements at once, achieved avatar state with 4elements and more only in sync or only one at a time, or if when one twin use an elements the other can't us that same elements
Something I'm curious about is if there are two Avatars, what happens when one of them dies. Will their spirit pass on to the other Avatar or will it be reborn, creating two Avatar cycles or will it be a "if I die you die by default" situation. I'm definitely interested in this concept. 😊
If avatar twins happens and they both have 4elements and state, then Raava would be linked to both but maybe only awoke the avatar state in one at a time, but Raava would still be incarnated by 2 people, just not at the same time, because its true that Raava splitting up would cause lots of chaotic implication like for example 2 avatar linearity having the same first avatars till Korra and then dividing into 2 branch, twins having 2 elements each seems impossible because by that logic quadruplet avatars would only get 1 each so dividing Raava is out of the question. An interesting concept would be if others people could do the same as the first avatar and master other elements by looking for lion turtles to fight maybe a bad avatar incarnation, without a powerful spirit bonding to a bender like Ravaa their next reincarnation wouldn't get the added elements and transgenerational knowledge though.
Got to say Im not really into this futuristic idea, I think that if korra dies suddenly or young the world hasnt progressed THAT much. I personally liked the original show for its older aesthetic and was satisfied by the changes in korra. I just think that it might be too drastic. Other then that twins sounds like a really cool thing to explore and some disability rep is always important. (when done properly ofc)
Probably an unpopular opinion (and a random one at that) but Avatar feels like Jurassic Park now where the first one was magical and the sequels turned to spectacle, losing the wonder that made it stand out in the first place. Idk, man, this news broke my heart. Gonna miss the old Avatar. Welp! Time to go back to fanfic writing🫠
i do not like the twin concept at all lmfao it doesn’t make sense why would raava choose two people, and i dont like the idea of 2 avatars or two separate vessels being an avatar it just doesn’t work
5:56 - I want to apologize for misspeaking in this video regarding Vaatu's fate.
@@AntoineBandele That's kinda disappointing. I thought about a Vaatu Avatar who have to struggle with being a Vaatu Avatar.
Antoine Bandele I think the rumors about the earthbender avatar series might changed overtime, like we don't know who will be the real earthbender avatar who succeeded Korra and what we're gonna have in the earthbender avatar series. We either have a male earthbender avatar who looks a lot like genji like what we all expected, or the female amputee avatar that we all see in this video who has a twin brother (or sister) who is actually the dark avatar, who knows of what's going to happen in the future, who knows
(note: I'm not saying that I disagree with the female amputee avatar with a dark avatar twin and favoring the genji thing when it was first announced by Avatar News on December 23rd 2022, I'm saying that I'm not sure of what we're actually gonna have by the time the earthbender avatar series was actually announced by both Michael DiMartino and Byran Konietzko)
Not gonna like, that twin Avatar concept sounds like something out of a fan-fiction. So many Avatar fan-fictions have done that same concept.
@@darthgoku1580 yeah that was my first thought, especially with one who was abandoned for some reason, it just sounds like a harry potter wbwl fanfic just set in the avatar verse
Anything sounds like fan fiction if fans write the fiction first.
Not their fault fans have made it sound a little ridiculous
Because it literally is lol. Avatar: Darkness and Light on Webtoon sounds exactly like this
Well, because it's really interesting thought experiment hehe. I think it's an EPIC idea and I can't wait to see what they do with it.
well i mean it wouldn't be very vastly different from the actual concepts of avatars in Hinduism sooooooo i dont mind the twin avatars
Not gonna lie,i kinda wished it was like the legend if genji
Well I'm not sure about what we're gonna have once it became real but I might say that legend of genji could be like set in alternative universe where Korra died alot younger and also theirs a false avatar crisis with Luan (the false avatar) and Genji (the real avatar). The thing I'm most curious about is this cataclysm. It's hard to even imagine what event would be so extreme that it would actually end the four nations.
Yeah idk how they expect to go from a “world ending” event to, such advanced technology that it’s Cyberpunk style. Doesn’t make sense
@@Parrett maybe it wasn’t “world ending” but the nations just split over a large conflict.
@@glasses685 what if it is another Sozins comet but this time it’s larger and charging straight to earth so Korra had to face it.
That would be my preference as well.
ntg cool about that it just recon the universe again smh
One is the avatar and the other is a non bender
@@micah459 I assume that's how it will be done. Two people can't both be the avatar
Yeah, I wish it was modern (like our technology today) and for the fire avatar, it could be futuristic
I mean if it was the creator's original vision, that's one thing. I would like to see what they wanted before tbh.
yeah going from industrial revoIution straight to cyber future within a century is really wacky for any story. I really hope they don't make this mistake, I want to see contemporary avatar.

The apocalyptic event doing away with the traditional 4 nations/cultures and the twin avatar concept makes me feel nervous
The writers originally wanted to make ATLA cyber punk. Momo literally was going to be a robot. Look up the concept art
@@waluigisim True, but that's not the story we got in the end.

Honestly it would be great going back in time seeing different avatars. Avatar wan could have been its own series
Wasn't there an open world game set way in the past that's in developmemt?
Seeing lots of comments complaining it's two female avatars in sequence, but no one said anything when Roku and Aang happened. I think as long as the story is nice, and the character is cool, it has all the chances to be fitting and real good. Mostly in this setting. Super hyped for this sequence! ;]
Because Aang and Roku fit to the male-female-male-male-female cycle, just like Szeto and his predecessor
I am straight up, ready and straight up. Happy that this is happening :-) so whatever they plan to do for this new season. I am all for.
Not gonna lie, but a male earth avatar feels kinda more…fitting? I just feel that it should be a pattern.

Yangchen is female = Aang is male
There are probably some none explored avatars that don’t apply to this concept but I think I’d think it fit more than just having another kick ass girl boss avatar ngl
The unnamed earth avatar ( maybe Salai) before Kyoshi was male

@khamalmccrea2616 he didn't miss that there was a world changing event, and that doesn't say anything to contradict my comment.
This is not how I thought it would go. I expected the time period to be closer to our world, a modern setting.

And people wonder why the Avatar world isn’t so popular nowadays then it used to be. Terrible decision once again.
I hope this is inaccurate. This is why:

@@AntoineBandele thanks man, appreciate it
Apologies, but this sounds like a dumpster fire in the making.
I'm just praying for Korra to live a very long and nice life before dying, seriously this girl cannot get a BREAK 😢
Time will tell. I hope that all this stuff happens well into her elder years. Not while she's still young.
@@AntoineBandelequick questions is the new avatar having 2 different colored eyes a canon thing? Was it part of her design?
I honestly happy that there is another show and also is interesting how the creators essentially back to formula with the next series
I’m 100% down for this new series
I was hoping the avatar genji story would come into fruition
I know it would be cool to see a false avatar in modern times just to see the media backlash in universe but this seems to be something else.
Even tho it does sound interesting, I sincerely hope this is fake. I can't imagine a world without Fire Nation, Water Tribes etc even United Republic, it was a brand new thing and now it's destroyed :(
Looks like the writers really want Korra to be a new Wan.
@@snoonan768exactly! Is it possible that these are the fake rumours?
@meduzsazsa8490 I hope you are correct but I doubt it.
Absolutely
It's kind of funny that this is going to be the third false Avatar to a real Avatar rack to riches plot line in a row.Well second but you know what I mean
Right!? Well, this would really just be the second (that is if you're referring to Legend of Genji, which was a fan project that many mistaken for a canon thing).
@@AntoineBandeleI am preferring to that because well, it is kind of funny when you think about it, even that was a fan projeit. Was interesting and it is kind of funny that this happens 3 times if you think about it.
But really this is the second time. No offense to how they identify the average heart in the earth kingdom but they have terrible luck with it
@@Powertoninetyninewell you could classsify it as the earth kingdom having an issue with finding the true avatar 😂
@Powertoninetynine I think the creators for genji were going address the fact that the earth nation has problems finding their avatar
The series will definitely be different. And, to me, it's something that aligns with the original vision of the creators.
@@AntoineBandele sounds good look forward discussing it more!
Oh my word this genuinely looks so sick
I prefer that sand bender fan concept instead
Wow this amazingg. I love that they're doing something new!
Cyberpunk nice concept but why do the protagonist have to be a female(i have no problem with female characters but we already have kyoshi) we don't know any male Earth bender Avatar and i would have liked a female fire bending Avatar but oh well at least we know a new series is in the works the only problem is when
I have not watched you in years definitely about to go back and catch up on things can’t wait for this series and this will be interesting wonder will the Korra movie be about the event you talking about in this video
Also do you still do Star Wars videos to
Im fine with creators taking big swings and trying to go in a different direction but like you gotta stay true to your series.
4:08 the new Avatar is going to do wheelchair bending
Also how old is Korra when she dies to where it goes from like a 1920’s economy to cyberpunk?💀
Fr tho, she'd be hundreds of years💀
Tbf, there are avatars that lived hundreds of years. It wouldnt be far-fetched.
For example, Avatar Kyoshi.
But idk
To be fair:
7 Nations might as well be
Fire Nation
Northern Water Tribe
Now Independant Southern Watertribe
Republic City
Earth Federation
Earth Empire
New Air Nation
But it probably won't be a thing. People will probably be mixed and live together and original cities and states will no longer exist 😭
(note: I'm not saying that I disagree with the female amputee avatar with a dark avatar twin and favoring the genji thing when it was first announced by Avatar News on December 23rd 2022, I'm saying that I'm not sure of what we're actually gonna have by the time the earthbender avatar series was officially announced by both Michael DiMartino and Byran Konietzko)
"The new avatar is female..." Damn, its done....i guess we never get our gigachad or at least a more manly avatar...
Literally a bad fanfiction
They should live this franchise alone
Like in The Legend of Genji fan project, an unknown Avatar who be overshadowed by the false Avatar sounds really interesting to me
More like Yun and Kyoshi but I wouldn’t mind it if the characters were greatly different 🎉
@@AiringAustin I guess you talking about Avatar Kyoshi comics, I haven't read it
Honestly interested in the cyberpunk setting, especially with spirits since Korra decided to let humans n spirits live together in peace.
As long as mike and bryan aren't writing and they bring in actual writers, it should be good.
Edit: The twin concept isn't instilling confidence.
mike and bryan are actual writers and have been good at it. They literally wrote alot of the best episodes in ATLA.
I actually hate this….
Is this just a revised Avatar Kyoshi for the new avatar, but with a twin?
Okay so just the plot of the acolyte basically
The new Avatar story with the Earth Avatar being a twin feels kinda similar to Star Wars: The Acolyte in some ways. Both deal with ancient powers coming back and personal struggles in a messy, complicated world. The sibling dynamic might even have some parallels if their paths or beliefs clash. That said, while The Acolyte is all about the rise of the dark side in space, Avatar is more about balance, bending, and the spiritual journey of the Avatar. It’s got its own vibe, even if the themes overlap a bit!
@AntoineBandele well put my friend, another great vid!
I hadn't noticed that
I truly hope they do not go that cyberpunk kind of world... they need to keep it in the feudal japan kind of vibe...
It would be pretty cool if her amputated leg was made of metal and she could metal the leg
Wish the avatar was a boy, though.
Low key same. I would have go for one male twin and one female twin instead of two female twins.
@AntoineBandele I think it would have been a better idea if they saved the twin thing for the next avatar.
Yeah, I think it would have been more interesting to have a male Earth Avatar and a female Fire Avatar, so that it would be different from the previous cycle. But I don't think it's that big of a deal.
It should have been a boy according to the gender cycle. I know it's not a confirmed thing, but it always was male-female-male-male-female
And now the cycle is broken (it's also broken due to waterbending avatar before Kuruk being male instead of female like he was supposed to be).
I really think it should've been a male so the uncomfirmed gender cycle finally becomes comfirmed
Yeah we already had Korra
I'm concerned about the setting being more futuristic. I really hope they don't put a huge emphasis on technology in fights.
Avatar can't be twins
Because there is only Avatar Wan's soul going through the avatar cycle
The avatar can be part of a twin
But unless Avatar Wan's soul can be slipt into two like horcruxes
There can only be ONE avatar at the same time
Decades of the Avatar: The last airbender was released
Some people still don't get how reincarcation works.
I've seen too many fans not understanding how the Avatar works. Good to see someone who gets it.
I thought I'd hate the change that the 4 nations would be gone but honestly I think it's kinda cool. Always keeping things the same would eventually make the story go stale and the writers know that
To me it's the most logical progression. If there is intermixing, especially. The traditional nations (like our global world now) would merge.
@@AntoineBandeleWe are literally trying to prevent that.
Its a BAD thing.
@@newhybrid101whyy
Boruto vibes. And I love boruto. Cyber punks gunna be sick
Which year will the avatar show realese ?
tbh it sounds like a fanfic AU of the rise of Kyoshi
Mmm... I'm nervous about these changes. Cautiously optimistic??? But very concerned.
3 words "star trek captains"...
I don’t wanna form any opinions until I’ve actually got to see it for myself.
But your videos giving us more insight is appreciated though! I’m just a bit careful getting hyped for anything these days. Don’t wanna end up disappointed…
Yeah... keep hype levels on the low.
I’m so ready ❤❤❤ I want the game asap and the series even sooner
A fight scene where one person can bend 2 elements and the other one can bend the other 2 actually sounds pretty dope
how does the twin avatar make sense when there is only one raava? that just makes no sense, it also sounds pretty whack to begin with
i think bryke are some of the worst cases of original creators continuing their own IP, they've clearly demonstrated that with LOK... avatars identity does not just revolve around bending and the avatar but it seems like thats what theyre taking from it. they showed some technological advancement during atla and then felt the need to push that on further and further... its a fantasy world, things dont always have to run the way our world does.... just look at star wars... its so far "advanced" yet during the long timeline covered by its story we se little to no technological advance and even if, it usually doesnt affect everything or change the way star wars feels. its also the reason why alien romulus was so loved because it took the style of designs from the original, unlike ridley scott's prequels that tried to make it look more akin to our imagination of what spaceships look like... it doesnt really work in the end, they dont make you think alien and therefore they kinda failed. with avatar its the same... and i hate the theme that they dont seem to want to write better storys, just "bigger" ones with "bigger" events, in lok it started being annyoing, like really? aang only had ozai and people connected to him as big bads, in LOK theres a new organisation that wants to wipe out the avatar (sometimes indirectly) every season... im not even particularly optimistic for this show, we just have to wait and see. im also worried about how a cyberpunk style world will go in hand with bending...
Now this person is on to something!
So Korra must have lived pretty long then.
That wouldn't work. Raava can't be split. It'd also cause a lot of other major issues.
"Women??? I wanted to see MEN"
...
I think this is might be a mistake for the franchise in the long run.
Yeah :( it will be a huge indelible mistake
Probably an unpopular opinion (and a random one at that) but Avatar feels like Jurassic Park now where the first one was magical and the sequels turned to spectacle, losing the wonder that made it stand out in the first place. Idk, man, this news broke my heart. Gonna miss the old Avatar. Welp! Time to go back to fanfic writing🫠
i do not like the twin concept at all lmfao it doesn’t make sense why would raava choose two people, and i dont like the idea of 2 avatars or two separate vessels being an avatar it just doesn’t work
Literally destroyed the magic system
