- In this video I compare the H. Upmann Magnum to the Trinidad Vigia cigar. Both of these cigars have a similar size and price point and due to this, I decided it would make for an interesting comparison. Check out the full video to see which one is the better choice.

Today was the first time I have seen your reviews and I spent a lot of time reviewing your past posts as I have found your reviews to be spot on.
I live in Asia and I have a very large selection of Cuban brands and Dominican , Nicaraguan.
I find your reviews to be most interesting as you do give a in-depth honest review pro and cons of comparing different brands which I agree with after tasting my own and making notes and comparing to your reviews.
I have now subscribed to your posts and look forward to future posts.
I have been smoking cigars for 52 years; now 72 years old and having tried just about everything made in Cuba and Nicaraguan and Dominican made it has been a wonderful journey smoking the world of cigars as I travel the world continuously always looking for the best of the best in cigars.
And now with your youth you have made a remarkable presentation of cigar reviews that reflect the true nuances of of cigar brands, A job well done you have a bright future ahead in the cigar world.
Wow, that’s one incredible compliment. Thank you so much. I can’t even begin to explain how much I appreciate that.
I find the people in this industry to be the reason I enjoy it soo much and you’re a perfect example of that.
You’re very kind for saying what you have. Thank you.
Had the Magnum 54 last week. Paired with a Baltimore Bang cocktail. Was just a delightful experience. The Trinidad Vigia is one of my all time fav stogies. Can never go wrong with smoking one👌
I like your channel it's Clean Editing.
Presentation & Details.
The Special one on one Interviews that go in-depth.
Another great stream; thanks Usman. I have both in my humidor, co-incidentally bought from my local Turmeaus store in Liverpool. Great stuff!
Ah how amazing. By the way, that store have some Lanceros from 1999 in stock. You might wanna check them out before I get my hands on them :P.
@@cigarinspector2023 I’m on my way now haha!! Cheers buddy
I have smoked both. I have both in my humidors. I enjoy both. I give a slight edge to Trinidad Vigia.
I have some 2017 Mag 54. Nice cinnamon finish. One of my favorites.
The magnum 54 is out of this world! Didn't understand the vanilla taste you talked about but ok.. The vigia is also great.. I my opinion you underestimated the the 54 by far
When you first mentioned that you hate loose drawing cigars I couldn’t relate, but after having a padron last night with a draw like an inhaler I started to get what you are saying 😂 it really is not as enjoyable having the resistance makes it so much smoother. I’m starting to prefer joya de Nicaragua to padron for this exact reason
Crazy how these have literally doubled in retail price in the past 2 years
Nice video bro! I like the Viga much more!
Late afternnoon...some dark chocolate...and a cup of Darjeeling tea..and opened a box of 12 Vigia...2019...as you say Usman...superb!
Sounds perfect :)
Good review Usman.
Not a fan of an overly tight draw but don't mind working for it as long as I get a good amount of smoke.
Have you tried the PerfecDraw tool?
I have tried it, I’m not a fan. I find that using it tends to create more problems than having a firm draw soo I avoid using it. Sold mine a little while back.
Having said that I can appreciate lots of people like it so I avoid doing a review because I don’t want my preferences to cause anyone to think it’s a bad product cause it’s not :).
Thanks for watching much appreciated.
Smoking a Vigia as we speak. Initially was pissed off about how loose the draw was on these but after I smoked a couple the penny dropped...
Great video can we get one on the cohiba Victoria 55 anniversary
I will try the magnum again as was underwhelmed the only time I smoked one. Trinidad have never let me down (except with their new price hike😒😫)
The good roast before you cut,
That's my way2go! Two of my favorite short fat smokes this is a tough one for me..
I feel like H Upmanns are the most consistently well packed Cubans, outside of maybe Cohiba, out of all the brands from Havana from what I've seen + heard
My two favorite brands 🔥
I thought the Upmann was a nice mild cigar! Good to combine with a Jupiler beer.
Question for you!
I had the same experience as you smoking Davidoff cigar, in the beginning I thought it was fantastic because it was so easy to smoke!
But then quickly realize that it was burning so hot and the taste was awful...
Then I try to smoke it really slowly, same shit...
Until I started to take small and repeated little quick puffs, And just let the smoke leave your mouth when you continue to puffs!
Then the aromas returned and it was a very nice experience! taste was really light but complex, like a really good tea, but flavors of the jungle tabaco! (mint, coconut, earth, wood) but in a tropical vibe hard to explain...
Anyway just wondering if you did try that technique?
Oh yea, you're absolutely right, there are occasions where you can employ techniques to overcome loose drawing cigars. I have used those techniques with some loose drawing Davidoff cigars, however there have also been occasions where regardless of what technique I use, it's jut too loose of a draw to fix anything.
Need to try that magnum 54. People rave about them. I doubt it will win me over on the Vigia though 🤔
We both agree on the Vigia lol.
I had the magnum 54 today and I didnt get those taste notes. Someone explain?
It's a natural product so it can vary from time to time. For instance, a strawberry isn't going to taste exactly the same every single time. Same with cigars.
Would like to hear your opinion on Montecristo Media Corona vs HUHC next!
That’s definitely going on the list :). Thank you
When I light my cigars, i tend to blow through the cigar, like cleansing it before i take in the first draw just for the weird flavors
Oh yea I do that every time too, normally works great. Thank you for the comment :).
Hello..Honest question: How many cigars a day is too many? Thank you 🙏
When you feel like you’ve had enough I guess.
UsMan. Really enjoyed this review and comparison.
These cigars are both equally excellent. I could easily daily either of these Cuban delights. I keep both of these in my humidors and will always make sure to ha e a healthy stock of them both. It’s 951 am here in Canada and you made me convince myself to have a smoke after watching your rant. Haha. Thanks for that. 🇨🇺🇨🇺🔥🔥💨💨
Loll amazing, enjoy :).
Partagas short vs H upmann HC or monte 5?
I'll put it on the list :). Thank you .
Would people say the upmann 54 is a good first cigar? Or is it too strong
I wouldn’t say it’s too strong, I think it might be a slight acquired taste. I think a Trinidad media Luna would probably make a better beginner cigar and r even the vigia.
The Vigia 2018 and prior have darker wrappers and taste much better than the recently produced ones, yours is 2018 i believe those were excellent, and for some reason the tubed Vigias taste better..
Oh yea definitely, the tubed ones are better in my view.
The Magnum 54 is a masterpiece of a cigar. Great video. Do some cheaper sticks maybe next time? Like H. Upmann Epicures vs Partagas Mille Fleurs.
I'm not sure those cigars are available to buy in the UK. I'll see if I can get hold of them though. Thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated.
@@cigarinspector2023 What? They dont have Partagas Mille Fleurs in the UK? I find that fascinating...
@@Viewer-ld5rc yes I don’t think they are sold here checked in several stores
@@cigarinspector2023 I find that incredibly interesting since they are one of the best cheap Partagas one can have. They're really good and go for about 7£. What a shame...
Usman, try Partwgas Aristocrats or Super Partagas. With a couple of years on them, they are amazing. They taste like a $25 cigar with some age. I always make sure to age a few of those boxes continously.
I'm looking forward to trying the Vigía tomorrow. It's from a 2018 box so I think it should be great :) But what surprised me was a pretty much loose draw. I like looser drawing cigars, but it surprised me in a cuban cigar. The last time I got a looser drawing cuban cigar was when I bought HdM Epi 2 in a 3 pack, and I have a really strong feeling that that cigar was a fake, since it didn't have the second band (altough the main one seemed real), the cap was a bit weird (more than a triple cap) and mainly - the flavor was totaly off. It was dry as a cigar can be, the only prominent flavor was wood and nothing else. I had to open a coke because of the dryness. I was really struck by how bad the cigar was. And the only possible explanation I have is that it was a fake. I can't think of any other explanation... What do you think?
Well anyways.. The Vigía is from the same shop and I had some great Montecristos from there so I don't know. I hope the Trinidad will be great and enjoyable :) Thanks for the video, really nice content!
I wish I had an answer but without seeing the cost of comparing, it’s difficult to tell.
Also, I had a loose drawing Partagas D5 and it was terrible. Burned to hot, bitter, wrapper leaf fell apart towards the end. Just not an enjoyable experience.
Generally, an open draw is fine but a loose draw causes problems in my view.
@@cigarinspector2023 I would say this Vigia doesn't have totally loose draw, there is some resistance, but yeah, for a cuban cigar, it's and open draw. I hope it will be fine :) I never actually had problems with an open/loose draw. I just really have to control myself and how I draw. For instance Padróns have generaly very open or really loose draw, or at least those I had. Davidoffs I tried had also a looser draw. But I never had problems smoking such cigars... One, very controlled puff every cca two minutes, and I never had the cigar turn bad and bitter. I keep my NCs at 65rh and dry box before smoking. And I moved my cubans to 62rh lately so I'll see how they do. Thanks for your reply!
@@cigarinspector2023 One more question if I may ask... How do you store your cuban cigars? :) Do you have great results with lower humidity, such as 62-63rh, or do you store them at around 65rh or even higher? The more I know, the better decision I can make for my cigars :) Thanks once again!
@@jenda445 Of course,
I generally keep my cigars at around 65RH. I find any higher they tend to become a little bitter. Also, based on the advice from Edward Sahakian, it's generally better to leave the cigar out for a few hours before you smoke it.
St dupont lighter but what model,? Great content keep it up, one corona at the time cheers mate
The le grand :).
Thank you for watching, much appreciated.
Did not like my box of Upmann Magnum 54s. Bad burn, tasted like hay/grass....but then again...my absolute fav is Siglo VI and not fair to compare them.
It's CAD$10 difference now with Trinidad being more expensive now 😅
TO BE TRUE..I LIKE YOUR STYLE FIRST OF ALL..I AM SMOKING CICARS 18 YEARS AND I AM 33 YEARS OLD..DO THE MATHS...KEEP WALKING...I AM NOT A FAN OF BIG RINGS..BUT I AM CURIOUS...I HAVE TRY BOTH OF THEM..AND I PROPOSE TO TRY BOTH OF THEM..HONESTLY GREAT CIGARS..BUT I PREFER THE FUNDADORES AND THE DOUBLE CORONA..SMOKE LESS BUT THE BEST
Fundadores is my favourite cigar soo I think we will get along just fine :).
@@cigarinspector2023 thank you for the response...you are very kind... fundadores is also my N.1. I purpose recently the Topes and Esmeralda...but I will wait until winter..to give them some time
That Trinidad is now 60 quid. Ouch!
Saying welcome to cigar rants sounds better than welcome to “MY” channel. Kinda sounds like a kid. That’s mine. This is mine. That’s mine. This is mine. Hell if it’s yours why am I here? Can it be all of ours?
Nearly doubled in price in one year
95 percent of the time when a cigar splits it do to smoking to fast and puffing to hard I never had this issues for example a vegia takes me at least 2 hours and 15 mins and it’s absolutely amazing stays cool no bitterness no problems
Takes you two hours to smoke a vigia?
That is wayyyy too long
Also, splits in cigars can occur from a wide range of reasons.
