I did like the redesigned Spider-Man costume that Ben Reilly was wearing around this time :P (I think this was published the very same month they killed poor Ben off though!) I like how J. Jonah has been appearing in these issues of X-Men as a pretty great supporting character opposing Bastion and OZT.
Oh wow! Thanks Darr, I totally forgot about this issue. I love the Scarlet Spider,he should've stayed that way. Lol what happened to image inducers? Scott's been in Remy's closet. Very much Silvestriesk but good. This is when Havok was boosted by Dark Beast and got his own book. Did you ever read Mutant X,what did you think if you did? I'm still catching up on your videos after my hospital stay. Always great!
I did read Mutant X. I liked it at the time. Some of that was because I liked Tom Raney’s art. I also thought the writing was decent by the mysterious “Writer X”.
I had and lost this book I hope to get my hands on it again... I didn't recall Spider-Man being in it. . I had the one with him and marrow on the cover. So I had stopped collecting after issue 300 basically... And have been jumping back on and off ever since... And withn the Xbooks and so many titles.. even now I buy back issues and I'm all over the place... But I care about storytelling and continuance. On the same token I like new incarnations of characters revamps... I'm happy to revisit this period I missed out on a lot of great storytelling. I'm happy for a lot of the great books I get my hands on today in the dollar bins.. and key books I can get my hands on. As I've stated before I love stories that involved the greater marvel universe, and the characters who inhabit it J Jonah Jameson.. more well-known now from the Spidey films. They definitely got him right in the films.. so much fun to have a little intrigue involving him in an X-book. He has journalistic integrity. It's also interesting now post speculator boom.. what image did and what marvel was doing.. what stuck ,and what came and went as a fad aesthetic wise. I love the cover of this book.. really pops! I love beefed up Cyclops.. it works for this time period.. it's less jarring now because you see actors in films do it all the time. Spider-Man in an X-book is always fun!
I was trying to think about when the X-Men last tangled -- ho ho -- with Spider-Man, and it's the Kulan Gath two-parter from UXM 191-192 and then Secret Wars.

I knew someone would like it!
Also, I missed that this is Ben Reilly. This is a case where a caption indicating that would have come in handy.
