I like that one of the most dangerous beings in the planet is literally just the shadow of a person who focuses mostly on helping his kind.
Being a good person can be harder than anyone thinks, depending of the circumstances.
Repression is a helluva drug
@@themanonthewallgammairradi8763 Acceptance is a weapon against our ego, and it's an effective one.
Being a good person is always harder than given into selfish desires. Here where you truly measure wants vs. needs.
Kinda reflected in today's world.
Except for the fact that most of Onslaught comes from Magneto's psyche, not Xavier's lol. It's stated that Magneto's Hatred, Grief & Lust for Vengeance entered Xavier's consciousness & fed on all of his dormant fears; dominating them. Onslaught is the psyche/reptilian brain of Magneto, wrapped in Xavier's mind.
@@RandomStuff404s Lol stop kidding yourself, weakling. You don't pursue selfish desires because you are too weak to. Too stupid to be greedy and too weak to dominate. You must default to a "good person" out of frailty to be anything but.
Anytime I see Onslaught, I just think of those carefree Marvel vs Capcom days!
I thought Onslaught was an Alien, a form of Xenomorph.
When I think of Onslaught Marvel vs. Capcom comes to my mind.
I always thought that Onslaught was the product of Xavier's necessity to put himself on this pillar of morality and self-righteousness that he made for himself in order to lead the X-Men and mutantkind as a whole. The closer you get to light, the larger your shadow becomes. The more you impose an ideal of morality upon yourself and refuse to acknowledge your own darkness and your own inability to always make the right choice, the worse your mistakes are going to be.
For me, this is the reason why Xavier has so many dark secrets (Deadly Genesis, Cassandra Nova, Namor, the Illuminati, etc).
Wtf I like that "the closer you get to the light, the larger your shadow becomes"
Did you just accidentally come up with an awesome deep shit?
It's not though, it's mostly Magneto's psyche entering his consciousness and dominating/weaponizing his worst fears. Onslaught is just Magneto's reptilian brain taking Xavier's mind for a quick ride; he is the embodiment of Magneto's desire to dominate but having enslaved Xavier's abilities to a Universal+ scale.
Thank you so much for making this video, I love Onslaught and I have made an entire lego stopmotion series dedicated to him on my channel, I'm currently working on the final film right now, Onslaught deserves more recognition and a spot on the big screen. Can't wait to watch this.
I thought Onslaught was an Alien, a form of Xenomorph.
The Onslaught saga is so slept on. I'm hoping for a MCU debut from this him
I read the Onslaught Saga over ten years ago. The story was an ambitious crossover long before the MCU. I thought Onslaught was a very impressive villain, seeing there is a sense of terrible irony that he originated from Professor Xavier, a man who believes in peace and keeps every negativity buried unaware that it serves as a source for the carnage to come. By attacking Magneto for leaving his ally Wolverine badly wounded, Magneto's hatred and anger fused with the calm restrained mind of his former friend created the ultimate nemesis that many of Earth's heroes battle to the very end for the fate of all.
I thought Onslaught was an Alien, a form of Xenomorph.
I have fond memories of the original Onslaught saga. It was my first real comicbook event I really got into. I tried to get into Heroes Reborn but never really did.
Loved seeing Dave Cockrum’s art again - his Lilandra was so beautiful!
Well played MM... Clear, Informative, and great choices on topic and corresponding artwork.. Consistent Quality is a thing with u. Keeps me lookin foward to the nxt
If FOX did one more X-Men movie, it would’ve been with Onslaught.
U don’t know that
Facts
Nope. I come from an alternate reality where the fox/disney deal was denied. Fox did one more xmen movie... it was the pheonix. Again. For the third time. It was worse than the previous two. Still better than Morbius.
No it wouldn't have been. It would have been sinister who they have been hinting to before things ended
And it would have been horrible like all the foxs xmen movies yes all of them
You read my mind picking this topic. I was just thinking to myself that I was foggier than I wish on Onslaught. Great work as always MM!
I loved the Onslaught saga, but I think your video is probably the first time I’ve understood the entire thing lol.
Love your videos, they help me get to sleep. Cheers man!
great video. super in depth but still to the point
Finally a very thorough onslaught origin video!
First video of yours I've seen, definitely subscribed and wanted to comment for the strongest of them all... The mighty al-gor-rithim
Love these videos feel like you might be part watcher 😂😂😂😂 keep up the fantastic work
Onslaught was such a threat, it took the warriors of another Earth (My Earth) to help stop him.
Proving that no amount of psionic energy can protect you from getting kicked in the face 50 times at once
Do you think we could have seen Onslaught make his live action debut in X-men Days of Future Past since James McAvoy Charles Xavier was in a depressed state? Did he prevent the creation of Onslaught by getting Hank McCoy's Beast to make a temporary antidote for his powers and when he told Magneto "I'm never going inside that head ever again"?
i think that timeline would have ended up with just that, especially if they got Shadow King involved somewhere along the line.
I thought Onslaught was an Alien, a form of Xenomorph.
@@MrNostalgic wrong franchise
If Onslaught is coming to the MCU, I hope the Avengers have better luck than the comics.
Doubt it. If they were so bold enough to bring Onslaught to the big screen I don't believe they'd do it justice.
@@diegobermudez8102 You maybe right but it won’t hurt to try.
@@daviddyster4145 believe me, I myself would love to see Onslaught in live-action as well, but with the MCU's track record of mishandling villains and decline in writing I wouldn't hold my breath.
Also I do feel the dark version of exavior shown in the cartoon was the beginning, that element building to onslaught.
I remember when Onslaught first appeared. I always wondered if Onslaught was somehow related to the Dark Xavier from the X-Men and the Micronauts limited series. I don't think Marvel likes referencing comics featuring licensed characters that they no longer have the license to, so they made no mention of it in X-Men: Onslaught. Thanks for throwing that in as a part of Onslaught's backstory.
I'm going in a different direction this week and requesting a video on Moondragon. I've been looking at old New Defenders issues and can't get her black and white costume out of my head. By far her best costume in my opinion.
As always MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
The son of Magneto and Charles Xavier...Onslaught. I remember how it all started...Wizard hyped Onslaught as the "Galactus of X Men villains"
What do you think is the best thing about Onslaught in the Comics compared to the other versions of Professor X? Which one of his powers and abilities is the best? What would have happened if he appeared in Fox's X-Men movies? Do you think he should appear in the MCU and that too as a main villain of an Avengers and X-Men team up movie?
This is neat! I only knew Onslaught from MvC1. Was a good boss.
They say onslaughts armor is more impervious than vibranium and adamantium even celestial armor for that matter this guy must have been pretty dangerous to have Jean grey tap in to the hulk's inner anger
"The onslaught begins".
Wow what a great video .. I didn’t realize the real history of onslaught
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video? Are you going to do history of the other founding members of the X-Men like Hank_McCoy Beast and Warren Worthington Angel/Archangel?
How exactly did Onslaught create his Armor which looks similar to Magneto? What do you think he would be like if he got his own body instead of using Professor X as his host?
Did you actually watch and listen to the entirety of this video ?
Has he been retcon because I'm sure onslaught is the both of them
Sweet, I was waiting for someone to do onslaught
Can you do a full history of the Heroes reborn earth?
Since you did the History of the Mandarin and Fin_Fang_Foom, can you do history of Ultimo as well as the Shang-Chi villain known as the Death_Dealer?
Can you do history of the Beyonder, Crossfire, Living Laser, Iron Monger, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Ultimo, Darkhawk, Union Jack, Annihilus, the Badoon and the Broods?
Can you do history of the U-Foes, the Ultimates team, Starjammers, Alpha Flight, the Annihilators, the Invaders, the Squadron Supreme, Doom Maidens, the Midnight_Sons, Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, Masters of Evil, the Thunderbolts and the Champions?
I religiously hunted all the crossover comics for the onslaught impact events including all the X-Men titles from the era, still own them all. Some of my favorite comic covers, X-Men #54 has to be my favorite
I still remember when this happened in the comic books
one of my favorite fighting games
Can you do origin of the Grim Reaper, Quicksilver, Devondra, Sentry, Mr Immortal, Captain Universe, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Blizzard, Starhawk, Flerken, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, Ego the Living Planet, the Living Tribunal and Super_Skrull along with Avenger-X and the Protector?
I remember onslaught his darkside was a big one at the time.
I grew up on the onslaught saga. When did Prof. X go to the law offices of Luckhaugh, Lek me and Lake for the Portals, which issue ???
How long till you finish doing White Tiger: legacy of the Tiger by doing the history of Ava Ayala White Tiger? Can you do the history of Intelligencia in honour of the She-Hulk Disney Plus show?
"Somewhat convoluted". Wow, that's an understatement. 😂
OMG. Charles Xavier is basically Ned Flanders!
I'd love to see the history of Landau Luckman & Lake.
What type of villain is Onslaught compared to other X-men villains like Master Mold, Apocalypse and Nimrod? What do you think he would be like if he appeared in the MCU, Would he appear in an Avengers and X-men team up movie?
Can you do history of Master Mold, Nimrod and Apocalypse?
My god was this a good idea wasted on a bad one
(Let's use a really cool villain to hand all of our best characters over to Rob Liefeld and Jim Lee!)
'ANOTHER EXCELSIOR VIDEO' ..
Did you ever nade a video about marvels slapstick? If you didn’t then you should really think about doing one on him because he’s like Deadpool but if he was a clown and not a Canadian.
Onslaught also recruited the Hulk to his cause as well.
Ya he mentions that in the video..
@Rokkoh seen that after I posted it.
Yeah but where was Ryu, and Mega Man, and Strider Hiryu and some other key players?
I've read this omnibus and I remember reading when Sue and Apocalypse tried to save Franklin and Sue took on Apocalypse by herself! It takes entire teams of heroes to beat this dude and she did it casually.
She never beat Apocalypse dude. Invisible Woman and Cable put together couldn't do a thing to him. He even lets them live and teleports away as he didn't have beef with them, only with Onslaught.
@@IStevenSeagal it still counts as a loss towards him. Heck she even has contained multiple Avengers at the same time, including two Hulks during Hickman’s run on Avengers. So it’s not that far fetched to imagine that she can take on Apocalypse all on her own.
@@TimeGem No offense but do you have reading incomprehension? I just told you she couldn't do a thing as Apocalypse was too much for her AND Cable.
@@IStevenSeagal let me put it this way: they were on the Asteral Plane correct? Sue is not one to be a regular to go on the dimension correct? The fact that she held her own against someone who does have telepathic powers and didn’t get crushed in the process is testament to her power. I’ll even retract my initial statement and say it was a draw between the two. That fair?
@@TimeGem You're totally ignoring what actually happened and creating your own narrative.
I loved the idea of the character. Sadly marvel did what marvel does, retcon things so that the character in question gets a “get out of jail free” card.
They did it with Jean Grey after the Dark Phoenix saga by saying she didn’t do those things because it wasn’t her. They did it with Scarlet Witch with the “No more mutants” by saying she was being controlled. With Xavier and Onslaught it was because they explained it away saying it wasn’t that Xavier had a surprised dark side but it was evil that transferred from Magneto to him during the mind wipe.
All these cases it’s marvel trying to find a way to excuse a characters “dark side” so they don’t hold any responsibility for their actions.
I think it’s a cop-out and a mistake . I want to see heroes become villains once in a while. When they sometimes turn back I want to see them having to deal with the consequences of their actions… that’s called storytelling.
Why do I say it was a retcon. Even before the magneto mind wipe the table had been set. Multiple events leading up to it made prof X confront the fact that his dream was as far as ever from becoming a reality.
One that comes to mind was in X-Men Prime where a mutant child is chased to the doorstep of the X Mansion where he hopes to find sanctuary only to die on the doorstep. You pair that with the legacy virus and him feeling powerless to stop the death of Illyana and what this did to Colossus PLUS the whole magneto thing it’s obvious they intended it to be Xavier having something akin to a psychological break where all the anger and disappointment he had bottled up popped its top and now ya have an unhinged omega level mutant.
That to me is way more scary than a megalomaniac alternate personality.
I got interested with onslaught with mvc afterwards I was like he's really f'd up just to be Charles
What do you think Onslaught should look like instead of looking like he's Magneto? What do you think he would be like if he got in his own body? Who would win between Onslaught VS Franklin Richards, Hope Summers and Rachel Summers?
Can you do history of Franklin Richards, Hope Summers and Rachel Summers?
I thought Onslaught was an Alien, a form of Xenomorph.
Wasn't Onslaught Purple and Yellow?
Wow 🤩 that was a interesting 🤨 one now I know
I wish I could be like onslaught that would be so cool
Never heard of this guy until I seen him in snap
7:40 As Kino's Journey taught us..... this would end all life on earth. But that would end Racisim, so yeah, this plan would still work.
The symbiote before symbiotes existed!
What would happen if Onslaught fought against a version of Professor X who can walk and wears a miniature Cerebro machine on his head?
In the back of my head with this krakoa story I was thinking what if Professor X is being manipulated by onslaught, and no one can scan is brain because he has cerebro on his head.... it would be a good story in my opinion
Come to know of the origin of the onslaught I need to get his finger to
Was one of my favorite arcs but it went on a little too long
🗣️ 💭 No more Mutants…
I always wanted to see onslaught combine with apocalypse to see if they could conquer the whole multiverse.🤔
I always liked Onslaught..Would be a dope story for The MCU Movies..This the first time finding out The History of Onslaught.
Biggz Was Here. Peace.
We need onslaught in the mcu
I hope Deadpool 3 will hint, there will be Onslaught.
"The dream is dead." - Onslaught
Classic villain!
~_~
So, does this mean the Dark Xavier, who was in the 90s Animated Series during the Phoenix Saga, was technically Onslaught? Edit:
1. Shit got serious if Cable and Apocalypse had to team up!
2. Also, Baron Karza was probably just thinking WTF throughout that whole crossover...
Evening
So Onslaught is just a bunch of intrusive thoughts in physical form. Got it.👍
Doom rolled up on Onslaught like; Bruh you scaring the hoes
I think i got a stroke trying to follow all this
I'm just here cus of Marvel vs Capcom 1
With just his psionic and magnetic powers he got from Professor X and Magneto he’s an omega level threat, hell professor X is very much an omega level mutant telepath, even more so than Jean Grey, comics explained videos if you want some proof
Take as old as time.
So what they saying is it's something like this in all of us
Onslaught was fully capable of outright killing Hulk, no?
Professor Onslaught
I enjoyed these goofy crossovers.
Ahh, my head is ringing. Onslaught may be fun, but his event was absurdly messy. Post attacks here, Juggernaut panicks there, Apocalypse and Sinister plot something on their own on the sidelines... And yet the whole thing ends with just a bunch of heroes jumping into the cloud. That's the 90s for ya.
Also, dear writer and artist, how old was Kitty at the time? 15? This might be a villain, but... Yikes.
Heck with Kang. Make onslaught the next MCU big bad.
That should happen if Phase 7 of the MCU since the MCU versions of the X-men and their Mutant kind would be introduced by then
21:50 interesting 5:00 6:20 hmm interesting their love child
Ffs dark phoenixes, onslaught, Wanda in house of M, it’s like at one point each of the X-men go evil, I can see why people don’t like mutants in Marvel universe
I hate it when The Juggernaut is used as a plot device. Pity Marvel didn’t have the guts to swap his and The Hulk’s story arc. Oh well.
When disney bought fox, i was excited because i thought they would be able to do this story. Now i am glad they didn't, that would have been, or will be awful.
9Monkeybotloop5 cycle evil heart flows spiral back to floor clawling monkies forgetting all they stole gooooo. I give thanks to the energy9
So how long till you do history of Ironheart, Namora, Attuma, M'Baku and Shuri as the Black Panther in honour of the release of the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
The X men are so wacky.
Good 😂
We're never going to see this in the MCU most likely. And it's for the best. They would undoubtedly ruin the villain, give him all of 3 minutes of screen time, give him bad cgi, and a super crappy and lame defeat. Like, slip on a banana peel bad.
Boy, this Onslaught storyline is as much of a storytelling mess as I remember when it came out. Such a lame way to setup the pocket Heroes Reborn reboot that flopped spectacularly.
Professor X is MLK, Magneto is Malcom X.
Can you do origin of the Brood, the Gladiator, Hyperion, Blue_Marvel, Alistair Smythe the Ultimate Spider Slayer, Stingray, Quasar, Squirrel_Girl, Ultimus, Kly'bn, Kang the Conqueror, Annihilus and Tryco Slatterus the Champion of the Universe?
