Yes spot on but it’s n fortunately we have done exactly that , the enemy has arrived on our shores taking advantage of our good nature we are slowly living to regret it

I can't find the words to describe how proud I am of these young men (and all the others serving the Allies). I truly look-up to, and admire these guys, some who are half my age! I have a hot shower every day, have central heating and air conditioning, and get angry when traffic is bad, or power goes off for a couple hours. Point is - I'm pathetic, and don't deserve to be the mud on the bottom of these guys boots. Bless you all, love and respect, from Canada. Thank you!
I agree, but you don't deserve to be shit on a shoe... They are fighting so that people can live nice happy lives as you are explaining. We just need not to forget that all we have can leave us, and be grateful! I have recently taken on training, I run everyday and workout at home, once I feel I am ready I will join the Marines, and hope I will make it through the training!
You’re not being pathetic, you’re being honest with yourself and acknowledging the privileges you have. Some men are built for war, they thrive in it, it gives them meaning, in many ways it is a clear path and also a privilege for them to be part of the Marines. Enjoy your privileges, they will enjoy their privilege to protect you. :)
I served two tours with 42 Commando Royal Marines as an interpreter in Helmand province, Afghanistan. The Royal Marines are true professionals and the toughest soldiers in the UK military. I truly miss those brave and friendly marines. I'm looking now to join the French foreign legion. Ex-interpreter Chris

R.I.P to every soldier who has sacrificed him or herself for their country. Massive respect to you all, and to soldier serving or has served. I hope to join the Royal Marines myself as soon as I'm old and fit enough :D
One of the greatest traits of a special forces soldier is the ability to muster up the will to finish the job no mater what the circumstance. No matter what. Williams has shown this through out his training. I wouldn't be slightly surprised to hear that he is already in the SAS.
+Ciarán Uí Néill I . I believe most RMs that pursue a career in the SFs - apply to join the SBS rather than the SAS. Also applicants have to have several years military service under their belt, before applying.
As a U.S. citizen, I notice a vast distinction between the Royal Marines and our soldiers. Even though the training is similar, I notice a vast distinction especially dealing with locals. While, yes, our soldiers played with kids and gave out candy and whatnot, the overall demeanor of the Royal Marine's is much calmer, much less intimidating, much more professional. Massive respect for both armies, as I was never able to go and fight due to medical issues.
The training period is much longer. This is because the RMs are also commandos. This role was originally for the army during ww2, but as the war progressed so the Marines gradually took that role on. They were formed on the 28th of October 1664 as the Duke of Albanys Maratime regiment of foot. To be deployed in his Majesty's fleet(King Charles 2nd)to counter the threat from Netherlands. Recruit training last for 32 weeks and for potential officers 64 weeks.
This series was one of the best docuseries thats ever been created in my opinion... and most definitely the best military one. To the filmmaker who also trained as a royal marine... phenomenal work sir. 👏
This is not the army though, this is the Royal Marines Sir. But yes, massive amounts of respect from me towards these men, They deserved that green beret 100%. I only now wish I can endure the 32 weeks of, well, hell. And respect to Tom. His death was not in vain. He died with the Royal Marines, and probably was proud to die wearing that uniform, and serving his country to the best of his ability. God bless him, and any other servicemen who has died fighting for our countries.
+TheBasicYankee no soldier if he's honest wants to die for Queen and Country but they will die so they don't let their mates down. They fight for the guys next to them.
I don’t blame him. He seemed an intelligent guy and you can’t fault how he handled his squad and himself, he was fresh out of training and he done a fucking amazing job. Hope he’s living a good life now and is happy, lad deserves it

I hate how hollywood portrays the British military. You probably won’t believe me but Royal Marine training is harder than US Marine training - mad respect to the USA and its military but no respect to Hollywood
Wdym we won’t believe you? Even US marines know Royal Marines are harder. US marines are more closer to standard infantry units, with their pass rates way, way, higher than RM. Royal Marines are more closer to Special forces with their training and pass rate extremely hard.
@Amia Clarke "yank" ? Was that supposed to be an insult 😂 in any case I'm a bit more thicker skinned and tougher than the Bergen belsen packs those tough lads carry. Cheers 🇬🇧🇺🇲
Yeah it’s becoming a fucking joke! At least Royal Marines are staying somewhat true, the army is a globalist progressive tool pandering to green haired lesbians and strange misfits
Im a gay woman and i totally agree, any job should be awarded based on skill not innate characteristics but none more so than a job in the armed forces. The army adverts are a laughing stock at this point. RM adverts always get the adrenaline pumping even for me who has never been in any sort of military service (i have a medical condition so sadly wouldnt be able). Being gay, black or female is obviously totally fine but just get on with it rather than making it a special part of your personality.
I remember watching this in like 2015 and remembering how timeless this documentary is, how unbiased and real this documentary presents the Royal Marines but still makes me want to join

one thing you notice when in Afghanistan is how beautiful the people are, they really have some of the best bone structure in the world, they lucked out genetically, generous people to, wish them well.
Personally I want to join the RAF as a pilot when I'm older because I've wanted to do it since I was 8 and I'm on track with qualifications to get there. So far I also pass the medical requirements like 20/20 vision. Wish me luck:)

I have a new found respect for you lads, not that it was lacking to begin with. To anyone who passes basic, hell even attempts it, well done. You are the best of us. And Tom's dad, my heart goes out to you, so proud in such a heartbreaking situation.
See i would disagree from what ive experienced within my own family, and from what others have mentioned both in person and online. But i do not think it is is bad thing. The quote that stuck with me the most, and is one of my favourites, was from a US soldier "you will never find a scruffier, dirtier or unprofessional army as the brits, but that is nothing as they are bloody good soldiers" I dont think its a bad thing to be unprofessional if you get the job done well
Querain well, have you met a British soldier? Because they’re as professional as they come, they’re the most elite trained army in the world, not a single country in the world has a pass rate like the U.K.
@@CosmicLazer06yes ive done the basic training and been accepted into the army in the reserves. Also 4 members of my close family have served. It depends on the role, a royal marine and a grenadier guard are always going to be more professional than a basic infantry soldier. But again, if you get the job done well whether youre professional or not is irrelevant.
God Bless All The royal Marines!! If It was Not For You My Beloved United States Marine Corps would Not Have Come Into Being!! So To all Marines SEMPER FI
Don't know what time of day it was that it was 30⁰C(86⁰F), guess it wasn't summertime, when temps can exceed 50⁰C. It's incredible that these guys can acclimate to the 50⁰C-plus temps in Afghanistan, and still remain combat effective in body armor and full kit. I worked in Phoenix when it was 110⁰F, and I can't begin to imagine the physical conditioning necessary to be able to go long distances over rough terrain, at altitude even, while carrying ALL that weight. And then to be able to function at optimum levels of weapons proficiency and land navigation while keeping hydrated is nothing short of incredible. No matter what the amount, these guys are def NOT paid enough for the jobs they did and the risks they took. Then couple the low pay with ammo and equipment shortages... Ugh... These guys are the heart and soul. The world quickly forgot that this war in Afghanistan was a HUMANITARIAN mission. It was about the most destitute of the world's poorest peoples, getting relief from a power hungry, corrupt, terrorist organization, sponsored by the most unstable, nuclear capable state, trying to topple a fledgling democracy, also riddled with corruption and ineptitude. The mission was about delivering food, medicine, technology, governance, and autonomy to the most impoverished people on Earth. No shots in anger would've been fired by the coalition, had the Taliban allowed it to deliver on these promises without violent resistance. Hundreds of billions of dollars of coalition taxpayer's money was supposed to go into development and rebuilding in Afghanistan. New wells, hospitals, roads and bridges were to be built. Instead, it went into 7.62 linked ammunition and helicopters. TOW missiles, MRAPS, and Hesco Bastions. The Taliban could've easily allowed all of the coalition troops to serve their initial intended purpose. But because of their greed for power and extreme religious views, they cast the entire mission away for all the good it could've brought to the Afghan people. The Taliban are the farthest thing from good Muslims. They are more like Nazis who use Islam as an excuse to invade, conquer, and pillage. Their lowest common denominator is large scale murder and theft. Terror and oppression. Subjugation, rape, and torture of women and girls under the guise of religion. They will never stop until the world stops them. They will keep infecting the West with heroin to fund their CRIMINAL aspirations as long as they're allowed to. Until the world stamps them out in their homes in Pakistan, they will continue terrorizing the region and trafficking drugs. There should be bounties on each and every Taliban leader. Maybe that's the way this should've gone. Professional hits, paid for by the coalition to end this thing once and for all. Every hitman in the world focusing their attention on the madrasses in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan until they've been completely decapitated. We would never have spared the Nazis even if they'd surrendered. We sure as hell didn't negotiate with them.
I'm a ex squaddie (British Army) and I can tell you, summer in Afghanistan, with full kit, armour and your weapons is goddamn torture. You have to acclimatise quickly or you rapidly feel like death. When I got back to the UK, I was freezing for weeks, that acclimatisation was tougher than going out there!

@WahdicalWeftist That's the L85. The SA80 was unreliable when it was first tested, but the updated version is probably one of the best ARs on the planet. However I only wish that all Brits understand the sacrifices these marines and their families did for their people and don't make mistakes by inviting trouble at their homeland. None of us can afford to do the same mistake.

James Williams is definitely SF material.
Grogritark SF?
abrahamnextel Special Forces.
One of the greatest traits of a special forces soldier is the ability to muster up the will to finish the job no mater what the circumstance. No matter what. Williams has shown this through out his training. I wouldn't be slightly surprised to hear that he is already in the SAS.
+Ciarán Uí Néill I would be surprised to hear he was in the SAS, the navy's special forces unit is the Special Boat Service not the SAS.
+Ciarán Uí Néill I . I believe most RMs that pursue a career in the SFs - apply to join the SBS rather than the SAS. Also applicants have to have several years military service under their belt, before applying.
These men are so mentally and physically robust. I take my hat off to these men.
"This patrol will be an easy one." - Famous last words.
he didn’t die in that patrol tho
Tom you wont be forgoton
As a U.S. citizen, I notice a vast distinction between the Royal Marines and our soldiers.
I knew Tom Curry from when he was born. I played rugby with his father Martin. He was a good lad
This series was one of the best docuseries thats ever been created in my opinion... and most definitely the best military one. To the filmmaker who also trained as a royal marine... phenomenal work sir. 👏
our hearts and minds are with you tom and all other soldiers who died in service to the queen, we will remember you
RIP Tom. I have really enjoyed this series especially because i want to join the Army.

I hate how hollywood portrays the British military. You probably won’t believe me but Royal Marine training is harder than US Marine training - mad respect to the USA and its military but no respect to Hollywood
What has Hollywood to do with this??
Wdym we won’t believe you? Even US marines know Royal Marines are harder. US marines are more closer to standard infantry units, with their pass rates way, way, higher than RM. Royal Marines are more closer to Special forces with their training and pass rate extremely hard.

Love how the RM run recruitment campaigns as it is, meanwhile the army is recruiting based on if you identify as a packet of wotsits
Yeah it’s becoming a fucking joke! At least Royal Marines are staying somewhat true, the army is a globalist progressive tool pandering to green haired lesbians and strange misfits
Its the new Rainbow Army....glad I got out in the 80s when it was still full of hard bastaerds

Most professional Army in the world is Britain’s.
See i would disagree from what ive experienced within my own family, and from what others have mentioned both in person and online. But i do not think it is is bad thing.
The quote that stuck with me the most, and is one of my favourites, was from a US soldier "you will never find a scruffier, dirtier or unprofessional army as the brits, but that is nothing as they are bloody good soldiers"
I dont think its a bad thing to be unprofessional if you get the job done well
Querain well, have you met a British soldier? Because they’re as professional as they come, they’re the most elite trained army in the world, not a single country in the world has a pass rate like the U.K.
@@CosmicLazer06yes ive done the basic training and been accepted into the army in the reserves. Also 4 members of my close family have served.
It depends on the role, a royal marine and a grenadier guard are always going to be more professional than a basic infantry soldier.
But again, if you get the job done well whether youre professional or not is irrelevant.
Querain The Guards are easily more professional than the marines, but that’s how it is.

Well said especially Pakistan part in all this, Pakistan wants those opium fields.
yeh when it comes to toughness, there's no one like the royal marines
I'm a ex squaddie (British Army) and I can tell you, summer in Afghanistan, with full kit, armour and your weapons is goddamn torture. You have to acclimatise quickly or you rapidly feel like death.
When I got back to the UK, I was freezing for weeks, that acclimatisation was tougher than going out there!
