So in my experience you have 3 regiments that are commando trained that are primarily from the Army.
First you have the Logisitc Support Squadron (RLC cap badge)
You have 24 Commando Royal Engineers
      And 29 commando Royal artillery
Those 3 units are British Army soldiers who have completed the All Arms Commando training that allows them to operate alongside the Royal Marines. The Army commandos primary role is to fill in the gaps the Navy cannot provide themselves.
So for myself, I joined the Army, completed training then proceeded on the all arms commando course. On completion you can wear a green barret but with your cap badge.
So you work with the Marines, but are not a Royal marine.
You also get similar roles within the Army who complete their airborne training (p reg) who then support the Para's on operations

Takes me back to Northern Wind 2019, a big exercise in northern Sweden with Sweden and Finland on one side and Norway, Britain and US troops on the opposing side. I was in a Swedish armored recon platoon, and we were traveling along a road in the CV90 at night to set up positions to watch their troops from. All of a sudden we stopped. Turned out we had come upon a bunch of royal marines skiing along the road at night (which we were explicitly told not to do, due to the risk of being seen haha). At first there was some questions as to whether we could capture them as it was still just in the beginning stages of the exercise. One of their soldiers were running up along our column, and I opened up my hatch on the gunner side of the CV90 and asked him whether he was British. "Yes", he responded. I smiled at him and asked, "Can we capture you?" he smiled back and asked, "What are you even going to do with us?" I shrugged and said "I don't know!" and we both laughed. He then asked me what we were up to and I told him we were just on a supply run ;) It was all in good fun, good times.

Back in the 80`s, Four Two and Four Five were doing thirteen weeks up there every year. The knowledge base in the Corps was huge at the time .
I loved it, the arctic has a pity-less beauty common to many desert environs.
Extremely satisfying to meet the challenges and more than that, eventually to excel at them.
Down here in oz the survival problems faced in our huge deserts are quite similar, which at first may seem counter-intuitive.
Water, shelter and mobility. And without the requisite skillset, you will not last very long in either environment.
I have a few oppos who settled in Norway and one lives right up at the top. I moved to Western Australia twenty years back and at times, we both have the same daytime temp of 40 degrees C.

Phenomenal guys. Really great to see that the Royal Marines is sticking with a single image to portray exactly what they do as commandos, instead of some the legacy stuff that had no mention of operations but instead: it was all about fun and games. Well, all I can say is, there was no messing around there - mature, operationally motivated people that are clearly determined to maximise their effect as commandos. As the Commanding Officer rightly said at the end, being employed as commandos behind enemy lines in small teams must be a genuinely exciting prospect, acting as a force multiplier and a thorn in the side of any adversary.

Still think about it to this day. This video is top notch and really shows just how capable the RM are, and not to underestimate them just because of their small numbers.
