Exclusive access: Royal Marines sniper trainees enter skills phase | Part two
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- Royal Marines who want to become scout snipers have to undergo a 13-week course made up of three modules - and they only have two attempts to get it right.
After perfecting their long-range precision with the L115 A3 sniper rifle on the initial marksmanship module, they move onto the skills module run by the Commando Training Centre.
This module is made up of four parts - mobile observation, static observation, map stance and stalking.

You gotta feel safe with this type of training for our elite Soldiers. Be proud of our Forces
it's a shame peoeple are more obsessed with money more than the sklls and qualifications you gain from military service. Look here. If you some how get into the special forces or in elite units like royal marines , they give you free career paths from courses you do. I'll list a few of them right now. Parachuting teacher, Diving instructor, Canoeing teacher, Bodyguard, rock climbing teacher, ski teacher, Survival instructor, Jungle warfare instructor. Those are all from direct qualifications you get, Not to mention all the careers you could do with just the skills without the on paper labels of skills. And last of all the discipline and skills you gain will make it much much much easier to make money with starting a brand new business.
@@MaxwellDurransAll those things need funding from the MOD, which has since been cut from back in the day
@@SodaPrezsing not true. Its mandatory for the special forces to do those courses, it's literally part of their selection and ongoing training. I'm not talking about conventional forces. I know they don't have the funding for all soldiers. Even without all those things I listed you get my point. Joining the military is a investment for a lifetime that will shape you into a glorious life. Assuming you don't leave by getting discharged from PTSD or severe injury but hey look at Jason Fox.
@@MaxwellDurrans Most soldiers aren’t SF come on lad
Regular Infanteers should have access to atleast some of these, adventure training being a big pull for lads coming from disadvantaged backgrounds
But those have gone away due to cuts
You generally end up joining the military because you don’t have any other options or you want to escape your situation. That’s what I did. If I could talk to my younger self I’d tell him never to join the military and stay in school. You are just a tool. A useful idiot to be used and abused by the ruling elite. Then you get out with little to no transferable skills.
Lesson ONE. NEVER leave your personal weapon on Dartmoor.
"Dartmoor"? Assuming the ground?
@@Hellohzbsh >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Whoosh!!
@@user-bw5ib8ds1e Can you be a bit more specific?
@@Hellohzbsh Google is your friend. Search 'Marines lose weapon on Dartmoor'. 😉
I served several years in Recce Pln (also COP in Northern Ireland) . Infantry. Wasn’t a sniper. But the advent of drones is a surveillance game-changer.
Like black and white. Total game-changer if no forms of interference but still less possibility with eyes, optics, thermal, etc in a rotating combo.
It is but still gotta know the purist sniper basics.
Passed the RM Sniper course in 1977. Back then it was the L42A1, basically a modified Lee Enfield. Obs was the hardest part of the course. Definitely a hard course to pass, but one of the best tests of soldiering skills there is.
Bless you all for your service and protection
🙏💚🌍🙌
Really impressed with the range and level of skills required.
One of the best sniper courses in the world.
When I was in training with the RM in 2019 one of my coorporals had just come off a 2 week sniper course. He was exceptionally irritable when he first arrived with our troop after being that uncomfortable for that long. Safe to say we paid the price of any mistakes made😂
Do they receive sloped roof training? It seems to be very difficult.
They do a 3 month course run by the CIA I believe 😅
High angled sniper training is done at Hawthorne in the states
@@markwhitham1169think it was a joke?
@@andyetheridge Maybe he'sAmerican. 😉
2:12 she's done that before
Nice one. 1970’s COP log:
“Female; aged over 30 years; height approx 5 foot, 4 inch; pale skin; dyed, breast length hair; flat breasts; dodgy teeth; lime green floral pattern frock; mustard cardigan.”
I'd have just written 'Oxfam dressed minger'.
The enemy is within the gates
Which enemy?
As a former Air Cadet I spent several MST Field weekends up on Woodbury Common, great training area. Anyway with regard to these future Royal Marines Snipers, Great Stuff Lads, Keep up your excellent work. Cheers!🍻
Pretty much equals then
Wow .. air cadet . Thank you for your service . Feel safer knowing your out there .
Nathaniel from small acorns great oak trees grow a good majority of those marine’s on the course would have started as cadets (acorns) and gone on like myself to a long and happy military career. As a army cadet I lived and breathed the military and I had some of the best times of my life as a young cadet and am friends still with the lad’s of my old cadet detachment I started as a cadet recruit in 1979 then on to junior leaders and am now a rather experienced oak tree/old soldier keep well Nathaniel.
@@nickgreaves3355 Great to hear about your transition from the Cadets to Military Service. Unfortunately I was never able to join up due to a Bowel Condition, otherwise I would have Joined the RAF as a first choice years ago! Anyway, Cheers.🍻
@@nathanielwhite8769 Stay safe brother✊
I don't mean to alarm anyone but did anyone else see those bushes moving at the start?
Skills, great stuff chaps.
That dress made my day 😂. Such a British thing to do. Elite sniper training, summer dress obviously.
If you'd listened, she clearly implies she was told to wear something distinctive as part of the exercise.
@@JohnyG29tha is exactly the point. She could have been told to wear anything but they chose that. It's perfect.
British trading is good trading g
Use an thermal fpv drone and all would be located fast?
Funny that comments on our enemy disappear
Don't worry, I'm sure the YT algorithm won't spot your dogwhistle comments.
Whole points of training like these are to know what to do when the technology fails.
In this film we hope to show how not to be seen. This is Mr. E.R. Bradshaw of Napier Court, Black Lion Road London SE5. He can not be seen. Now I am going to ask him to stand up. Mr. Bradshaw will you stand up please💥 This demonstrates the value of not being seen.😅
You've watched way too many MOD training films.
The vegetation of the Common is awful so moving close to & on the ground must be grim. It’s bad enough in recruit training but for this specialism, much, much more than grim.
Stop calling it Leopold, it's Leupold.
Difference between RM scout sniper and regular army sniper?
Used to be about 8 quid a week 🙂
Marines are called scouts to 😂 I believe this is a new thing, like many other Amerifications! 😬though could be very much wrong.
There's a massive difference in role, capabilities and unit outputs between RM and infantry therefore the same will transition to sniper roles. Infantry snipers are very good but they don't have the same job as royal marines (outside of basic soldiering). The RM sniper course is also world renowned, the reason both sas & sbs load Thier lads on the course.
@@mattersabo3117 apart from shooting from helicopters, which is a relatively new thing as far as I'm aware, there is no difference. Same role, same capability, which this video confirms.
@@parky5329a few minute video shows everything they do does it ? Basic sniper stuff is the same anywhere. the fact is the RM and the infantry have different roles so Thier respective snipers will have different roles, even if the basics of sniping are the same. RM snipers do a maritime element (shooting from helicopters, at sea, at moving targets) and it's not new, hostage rescue sniping (that is new), high angle (mountain) and extreme cold weather. All are different elements to the job that requires different training to what an infantry sniper will get.
Leupold, pronounced "Lewpold", not "Leopold"
Yes. Yes! THIS!!
Thermal imaging is just cheating 🤣
Very tuf marine fighters
What name the sniper brand?
What do you mean by 'the sniper'?
The shooter? The rifle?
Plenty of work available in the Ukrainian theatre...
