Paul is absolutely hilarious I have known Paul since he was 15 years old. He is always happy I rarely ever see him mad. As a matter fact I only seen him get mad one time and that was when a fellow worker borrowed $100 and said he would pay it back on Friday and did not pay it back. Paul don’t play when it comes to his money. He was nice enough to loan it and then on Friday the guy didn’t want to give it to him. He flipped out just a little other than that Paul is an amazing guy I enjoy working with him. I enjoy taking vacation with him. He is always a joy to be with. Whether the job is easy or hard Paul has a great attitude about it. I love Paul as a great friend. I am so lucky that Paul is in my life. If I have a bad day all I have to do is talk to Paul for five minutes and it’s not a bad day anymore. Thank you for your comment. You should meet him in person he is amazing. Not to mention his daughter is also amazing

I'm going to do mine somewhat similar to this but will put 1x1' cement blocks under the pressure treated bottom board(s) and will use a farm jack to lift the edge of the home up until the floor is level inside. I'll also use 4x4 posts instead of 2x4s.

I Used The Vinyl skirting That Slides Together From The Top Then Locks In The Lower Track but Before We installed Them We Put 2 Inch Thick Foam on the Back Side using Liquid Nails you Just Have To Make Sure It Doesn't Inter fear with where They Slide together stops Cold Air Alot Better and I Got The 4X8 foam sheets Free Always A Bonus to Stop Blow outs They Have Rods That Slide Down Between Panels came Out Great and The 2 inch Foam Makes Alot Of Difference great Video also Guys if Your Going to Use Non treated Lumber You Can Coat It With polyurethane lacquer over varnish I actually prefer coating the bottom of it with beeswax

Instead of having the bottom plate wood in contact with the ground what are your thoughts on using patio blocks (cement 18x18x2 inches thick) on leveled ground, then put the bottom plate on these blocks? A trailer 70x14 feet would need about 112 blocks , This might help prevent the bottom plate from rotting as well as keep some of the critters from digging under Plus, if the outside walls started to sag, the extra width of the patio blocks verses the regular wood might provide more resistance to the sagging. Thanks for considering this.

Probably fine in NC. But if you are in a frost prone area the skirt needs to be off the ground. It's a little harder work, as you need to brace the skirt to the underside of the Mini home. Then rodent proof the bottom.

The wood has rotten out on the inside and the panels are shot from the rain and sprinklers here in California. I want to do it right and your video really helps me to get started. Just a few question so I get it right. Pressure treated 2x4s and do I need to put a primer on them as well? Also the framing you made had 2x4s already on top just under the mobile home. Did you put those there and how did you secure them? Screws? Thanks again and i appreciate your time!

I’m not trying to down nobody’s work but treated would isn’t what it use to be. That wood is going to rot or termites are going to get it (yes termites eat the newer treated wood). Also if the hardie board touches the ground it going to suck up water and deteriorate like mfd board. Metal or brick skirting is the way to go.

Any wood touching ground rots over time, even pressure treated wood. I think a better way would have been to pay some sort of concrete footer for that ground wood plate to rest on. so it won't rot as fast.

That very well could be as you know that was treated wood. Like you said even treated wood can go bad so if we can get this to last a good 1015 years, the customer would probably be happy. I think what they’re really looking to do is to Brick and mortar the underneath of the house so this is almost semi temporary

You can't put a load on the skirting of a mobile home. It's only design is to nail the skirting on and keep it there, not for lifting or carrying the load of the building. You need to adjust the blocks to get your trailer back to level. The moment the ground loosens from rain it will slowly sink back down. The skirting of the house is NOT a footer. It's simply a patrician for nailing the skirt to.

My biggest issue with this is the fact you have wood sitting on dirt going right up to wall plate of the home, it's gonna get eaten up by termites atleast the plastic skirting doesn't provide a buffet for them.
My other issue is you taken load off the houses steel I-beams frame blocks and shifted it to a part not intended for it when it was designed. The blocks are now more susceptible and prone to shifting raising risk of the house falling.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair

We did not take the weight off the blocks. And the wood we used is treated. I’ve never seen termites eat treated wood. Apparently, on video, the wood doesn’t look treated although it is traded I would never use white wood on the ground

Isn't it just going to rotten because its on the ground or water will wash away the dirt under it

Treated two by fours are used hardy board but if you use treated framing and plastic vinyl you can do it a lot cheaper and faster

Shouldn't be installing a solid wall under a mobile home, because home will continue to sink in ground on those concrete blocks, unless you have concrete footing under the mobile home blocks ?
But as it sinks you will be pushing up on your mobile home walls, on plastic mobile home skirting it moves with the mobile home so it doesn't do damage.

Vinyl skirting will end up seriously disappointing you if you live in an area where there's frost heave. Don't ask me how I know. ☹

Hope at least your bottom board is pressure treated because it's literally buried in the ground and won't last long

Yes it is actually 100% treated wood that would put on the ground

I've never seen anybody do underpinning like you do it and I tell you what ...since you're using pressure treated wood it should be very strong and last a good long time awesome job

Pick a spot and start there that would be your best bet it doesn’t matter where you start all that matters is the ending start wherever you feel comfortable starting pick an end pick a bedroom no matter white start there.
