For the longest time I watched u guys tear out and reframe windows and I would think..”that looks easy” but wouldn’t try it. Then I finally took a deep breath and did it. With ur videos running for guidance I have to admit that while it was work it was pretty easy. Great teachers and I love the confidence it gives. Nice job on that window by the way.
That is so satisfying . Renewal begins. A very neat clean and efficient window replacement and floor restoration kicks off your new Mobile Home . I hope you feel very good about it ,you certainly should 🎉
I did try doing this on my old place bc, at the time, I did not have 2 pennies to rub together. These things did not have a vapor barrier on the outside, and the aluminum siding sweats
Doug, you are the King of cut it the right size! Seems that you usually cut a board tight enough that it holds itself in place until you screw or nail it in place.
One heck of a difference to what was there to what you replaced it with, looks and sounds so much more sound and will last much longer, great start on your renovation.
I love your videos! What a great team you two make! I could watch you all all day! Doug, you have to be a master carpenter! You can do it all! Can’t wait for the next video! God Bless your family! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
First time watcher here. I do most all of my own additions/renovations as well and any time I see a woman helping their husband/boyfriend doing the work, it screams good woman!! My wife helps me with every project I do and has an appreciation for time it takes and labor involved. Good relationships start with each other working together. I commend you!
Now that it’s gutted, it’s amazing that a neglected MH in the Florida climate isn’t in worse condition! Looking forward to this “creation” (y’all do such a beautiful job 👍)
Hi Doug and Ashley. Great job. You are both amazing, and i look forward to seeing this mobile renovation journey. I wish you family and followers a Blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Keep safe and God bless your beautiful family always ❤️ 🙌🎄💐
Doug, it would be great if you did a video on how you gained your carpentry skills from a historical point of view. I’ve seen others mention the same inquiry, and while I know you’ve learned a lot on the job, you obviously have had early experience and I’d love to hear about it. Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄
If you have watched for a while you will learn you learn from doing, when remodeling you never know what you will run into next. Love all your videos!!
We get to see amusing comedy along with serious building...it just doesn't get better than that !!! You should have had Stan clean all the spiders out before you started working ....he seems to be doing a lot of slacking. 😅
Ya win some, and ya win some. Board by board, winder by winder, or window. I'm an ole feller who enjoys watching Doug and his family work their hearts out. God bless each and everyone of His chosen ones.
I love your videos and your journey fixing things better than the way you found them. It doesn’t matter if you show all the steps or explain all the work, I’m here to watch whatever parts of your journey you share. Great job as always !!
i really cant understand when people say why put money into the mobile home , its wasting money??, surely repairing old wood etc, is better than knocking the whole mobile home down, its saving you money in end as your not buying every thing from scratch, please some one explain to me why people always say knock it down. any ways guys awesome job as always hope you all well have great Christmas if you celebrate hugsx
Definitely. Starting over from scratch comes with a lot of extra costs and complications. I think some people are just afraid to invest in a mobile home. And some people just don't have the vision to see the end result. We look at this home and feel inspired.
That was really interesting watching you frame up that wall after you tore out all the rotten parts and then putting that window in it looks great guys
As usual another great job......Can I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all the brilliant and informative videos throughout the year and I look forward to many more next year......God Bless.
I have to respond to Doug's squal after the big. I would have screamed so loud and ran like a big baby. 🤣 And Lizards aren't my thing either. We had one get in a few weeks ago and I made my husband nuts until he got it outside. I moved furniture so he could get to it.😅 Back to watching
This will be wonderful when finished. When we bought our "as is" mobile home we quickly closed up or replace the jalousie windows in an end room. They wouldn't even close completely, and that just wasn't good for the heating/cooling bill! We got vinyl double paned, and then over the next couple of years replaced more, including ones in the main living area. What a HUGE difference in our bills, comfort level, and lack of outside noise! Soon we'll hit our 10th anniversary of buying it, and we're still very happy. However, you've taught us a lot, and if it comes time to redo some things, I'm sure we will be remembering how to do some things a lot better.
That you bought this property with the mobile home as junk and you are restoring it... makes your investment smart. I think it's going to be really nice when you're finished and whoever buys it, in the future, will have a fantastic fresh start.. on a lovely property.
I laughed so hard when you squealed hilarious if I had seen the spider, I would’ve been gone but then To have a lizard run on your arm. I love you guys. Keep up the good work. Be safe God bless.
It is just the beginning but you are already showing everyone how much you know about this kind of restoration. This home is going to look great when you are finished and it is going to be a joy to watch you do your magic. Bye Maverick, it was great to see and hear you again.😊
Thrilled to see the new project in progress as I have a VERY similar mobile home in need of repair. Being an older novice, I will be following closely. I have watched your older vids also. The difference is, I'm living in mine so, one wall and/or one room at a time. I appreciate learning from you guys.
Hi Doug and Ashley. You are doing a great job on the Trailer. Can't wait to see it all finished. You are a Great Jack of all Trades. You do amazing work. Take care and God Bless.
Excellent explanations as usual! I enjoy your content! God bless ya'll! I've been watching since you were out in the country (and only long time folks will know what I mean).

Hi Doug and Ashley! Great job on the window installation! Through the years, you've remodeled other trailers and done a fabulous job! I'm really excited to see what you come up with this one!!!!!❤😊
Great content again! You are willing to tackle seemingly impossible projects and your problem solving skills are impressive to watch. Most would not take on a lot of what you do. The new windows are lovely! Great color choice. They will definitely be a nice ROI. If I didn't live in an area prone to tornadoes I would consider a portable/mobile office building as a creative space on my property. It's wired, usually has a halfbath and I could add a heat-pump. Of course then I recall Ashley and Doug's gazebos and how that would add a nice outdoor sitting area. So many great ideas start with this channel!

I found a small lizard under a stone at the vegetable garden so put him at the near ditch .So first window in well done , thanks for sharing and have a Merry Christmas 🎄⛄⛄🎄
This structure will definitely be better than new with a few more boards. It's a wonder it's still standing. Another challenge begins. Looking forward to your design and well thought out construction solutions. Happy holidays. Blessings
In reference to your framing. People need to think about it this way. It’s a “mobile” home. Meaning it’s got to be built a certain way so it can travel down the road in coordinates with DOT regulations. Regardless if it never goes down the road again. Yes I would have probably over frame it. And some say. What about tiny homes. The problem with many of those, they are not up to the DOT rules. I know because a friend of mine. (That’s been on cable tv) Had to close his business because of it. It has to do wight and the flexibility of the “mobile” home/ “trailer.” Keep up the great work!!!
This has been so interesting to watch, My first home I actually owned years ago was a mobile home. We lived in there with my oldest. I so appreciate the little things that you do. That can benefit water or condensation on the window. We live in Minnesota. And yes, we battled condensation on our windows. When I lived in my mobile home. It originally had been a model home There was a family that owned it before. It was 14 by 68. It was 3 bedrooms and our laundry room was in the bathroom. I have family members that raised 4 children in their mobile home single wide. In fact, that family member grew up in a mobile home where they took 2 mobile homes side by side and put a hallway between and they raised 8 children in it. But I was showing my oldest today since he was the one that lived in the mobile home when he was really young, He watched you put in the window and see the sides were just tin and insulation. Doug, you and Ashley, what you do again amazes me. I'm watching this just a few days before Christmas. So I want to wish you a Merry Christmas. I'm not sure how you celebrate it. But I just want to say you're very much appreciated. And we rally with you every step that you do. Your home is absolutely beautiful.❤
I’m in America and we build with bricks and concrete too. We also build with material that can be mass produced in big warehouses and move to the customers land already build. It makes it affordable for people to afford.
I've seen mobile homes in Ireland when I was looking at Google Street View. Where in Europe are you referring to, because plenty of homes in Europe aren't built out of bricks and concrete. Northern European areas build a lot of their structures with wood framing. Areas that have a lot of timber use lumber, while places that lack trees tend to use bricks. It's smart to use natural materials that exist in an area. But also, we have a wide variety of homes in America to choose from. Driving down my road there is a mix of brick homes and wood homes.
Mobile homes are ok unless you live where tornadoes are common. They need upkeep like all homes. Have you saw recent prices? Insane. A new mobile home this size would start around $75,000. and go up. My neighbors just bought a 16×80 and paid $95,000😮

Thanks!
You two are the hardest working people I know and you deserve all the success that is coming to you
So nice to see these old mobiles rescued, it will be so comfortable when you are done.
not only the right tool for the job but the right man to do the job as well.
I do believe y’all could build a better mobile home than most manufacturers!❤
Most definitely!

I redid the seals of my windows and the corners in 2018 I believe. Yes butyl tape on the windows is best.
