New to the channel. Not only does this family seem nice, calm and kind; but also hard workers and wholesome. Getting through things together and making great progress and memories always. My kinda humorous, clear, concise and helpful. If you ask me, they are living the dream, really. Seriously warms my heart. I'm hooked!

Listen you two! You would not believe how much this video has just helped me. I have a rotted spot in my rim joist and my contractor didn’t even know how to repair it and he just quit on me. He said the whole/back of my single wide trailer was just going to fall off and he couldn’t afford to buy me a new trailer. Now that I see how sistering is done on a rotten rim joist I believe I can do it myself, and I’m a 57 year old woman! Ha! I’ve drawn out a picture of what you just did in case I couldn’t find this video again. Thank you both for all the good that you’re doing I personally appreciate you both.

If yours isn’t gutted, it might be a good idea to support the two sides beside the area you need to cut out, just so it doesn’t move on you and you can get the new piece in.

So many people see a small amount of rot like that and run away from an otherwise solid home. This is 100% fixable; even a stick built home can experience this kind of rot.

I'm a woman, 67 years old and I've done most of my own work except for electric. I've been tinkering around with some plumbing as well, hoping to install a bidet. I didn't expect a video today so this was a nice treat. I adore seeing Ashley working alongside Doug also supplying advice and feedback. They are an amazing team. They understand one another's goals so their communication isn't lengthy, allowing for morre productivity. This home will be a true blessing to any tenants. It will definitely be better than when it was first built and most likely better than newly built mobile homes. I am not referring to fancy bells & whistles - I care more about quality and safety. Ashley and Doug always have an eye on unique things that elevate their properties so no scrimping allowed. It will be an exciting 12-18 months watching the mobile home's rebirth and I am ready for it. (I am so thankful you hired the foundation repairs completed. With the recent flooding that could have been prolonged and potentially more dangerous. And so messy. Very smart investment - as is your norm.)

The nice thing about the mobile home reno project is you aren't living in it, so you don't have to move furniture and other stuff to work on it. The down side is you have to remember which tools and supplies you need to bring with you to work on a particular area. Hopefully, you can get a lot of the structural tear out and rebuilding done over the winter when you have cooler weather.

It is interesting that your mobile built in 1984 actually has a plywood sub-floor. Mine built in 1998 has a high density pressed particle thing. When I went to install underfloor radiant heat and tile in the bathrooms, I had to replace that subfloor. I initially wanted hardwood in the rest of the house but to enable that to be nailed I would have had to replace the subfloor. I went with engineered hardwood floating floor to avoid that. Your little unit built 15 years earlier actually has a better subfloor. Cheers.

Like almost anything, it boils down to the manufacturer. Some are built better than others. Which of course means they're more expensive new. There are 2 manufacturers in my region that build quality mobile homes, the rest are not as well built.

I've been a viewer for a few years so watching you track down & remove rot is actually comforting while sitting in a holding room in a Dr's office. Also a mobile home I once lived in had particle board floors w/ water damage. That was in the 1980s. Glad your floor is plywood 👍

Exciting! Our friends own the mobile home park across the street. Homes are all early 70s, and the previous owners kept the property picked up, but were slumloards and never took care of the actual structure of the homes in terms of resealing etc. they’ve had to do a lot of work to the homes. But even if you have to put $8-10k into each home, they rent a 2bed 1 bath for $1200 a month or so and can make that back relatively fast.

It is so satisfying to see rotted wood replaced with fresh, new wood. Looking forward to seeing future videos of this project.

I found myself wishing I could show up at your worksite with a big push-broom and an industrial vacuum cleaner to clear away your workspace for you, LOL

Man thank god you made this video!!!! My father in law gave my wife and I their old trailer home and the tenants that use to live there recently moved out, THEY TRASH THE WHOLE PLACE. They did not take care of it at all and now I’m going to fix it up! Thanks again for this video!!
