I’m 70+ years old and am refurbishing the single wide mobile home that we are living in. Your videos are helping me avoid serious mistakes repairing the floors etc.may the Lord bless you for helping others.
Glad to help and great to hear that you are refurbishing your place. If it’s made of wood you can fix it. I hope you watch a lot of my videos. There’s plenty of them to help you. If you need any help you can always contact me and I can share a specific video with you.
2023 was my epdm roof on my '74 singlewide.your post guided me through it.First winter with a totally dry cealing in 20 years!2024 will be the floor this summer. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Good stuff! That’s awesome. Your roof will last you many yrs. I’m glad I helped you. That is what my channel is all about. I like helping. Not many people like working on mobile homes. I do. So I share what I know
Glad it was helpful! That’s why I say this is how we repair them. A lot of people don’t do them like we do when I do something I like to do it like a professional should lots of homeowners out there are not professional. A lot of contractors out there are not professional.
Thank you for pointing out how most mobile homes floors have a few layers just slapped on top of rotten layers of floor! Just like you can't put a new band aid on an old rotten band aid without treating the wound, the same goes for these homes roofs walls and floors!
Thanks for detailing how to replace the floor in sequence. I have a 1979 subfloor with a lot of soft spots, cover by a 1979 floor wcich is covered by a new semi-composite floor. That will have to deal with some day when I can afford it...
OK. appreciate your work. big confidence booster as the master bath / laundry gets a gut and redo. 1/2 the floor seems bloated and soft. started taking wall board off as one window leaked. thank you.
I wish i knew more people that enjoyed this kind of stuff, but ill be here for all the new uploads. It's clear you have a wealth of knowledge, and a great team making it look fantastic. Could you do videos on what tools you recommend, best insulation for the cost, wood, et cetera? Can you do series on complete rebuilds for double wide, single, and other older types? Have a fantastic day
if the plate supporting the wall has deteriorated in a section, black and spongy from water, would you replace the plate section or put new support beneath it and leave the bad wood in place? I don't know how it can be replaced when it is currently bearing the load of the wall
Im try to leave a comment and cant. I have a question though. I have a couple soft spots in my mobile home floor is there a way to repair it or strengthen it with out having to cut and remove it entirely?@Drewsroofingandhomerepair
@ got one in mine I seen other day for first time when replacing insulation even though it doesn’t have central HVAC Must of been installed in all of that time so u had the option
I have a soft spot/hole in the back corner of the closet. I have a contractor that just put the flooring over the hole. Now when you step there it shows it is not reenforced.
My parents RV resort park was destroyed by flood waters that reached above the skirting on hundreds of park models. Insulation, ducts, flooring, cabinets HVAC all need replacing. I am helping my parents here in Port Richey FL (they are dealing with health issues in Syracuse). I need advice on the best way to coordinate contractors for all that has to be done. Floors, walls, cabinets, HVAC etc.
I’m in Nc so not to sure how I can help but I wish you luck. Call your local mobile home supply store. See if they have any contacts for people that work on mobile homes.
Thank you for the Sub. I appreciate it. Check out some of my older videos. They are pretty interesting. Also, we do everything from flooring Siding to the roof.
Hello, my name is Carlos and I am currently from CHC construction home modeling and repairs. I have a question for you. Should I repair the floors first or level the building?
do you think keeping the old insulation is a bad idea?? I would think it's smart to keep the old and just add more new on top getting more bang for the buck. why did these floors need to be replaced? what happened? water damage or just cheap stuff that worn out? thanks.
Well, originally it was water damage but what they did on this particular house was they added way too much weight on the roof. They literally built a roof with two by sixes and 2 x 12 and plywood and everything else without any support.
Between the rooms by wall. Why can’t you put the frames of woods as 2x6 before you put the plywood under the wall to hold the wall up. As I got mobile home. I don’t know how wide it is. But know length is 74. It’s 1983 mobile home. As I need to repair the roof first before anything inside. Thanks for your video of your hard working. 👍🏼
I too desperately need help. We thought we could do it on our own but inflation and serious health issues has us still living in a home without floors. Our plan is to replace all of the subfloor in our extra long, single wide trailer and after putting inexpensive linoleum on top. The trusses are good. we just keep trucking and hoping to get to a place where we can hire a contractor to come in and get it wiped out quicker than we can do it ourselves. Sadly, we cannot afford the material let alone the skilled labor. It takes. Not at the moment anyway.
I wish you luck. Go to church. Ask for help. There are a bunch of free to almost free programs out there you can get help. Ask around look on the internet
Do I what kind of material do I need to replace the whole bathroom floor in my mobile home has two layers of wood what kind of material waterproof because I have a special need kid that make weed on the floor
I was working on my girls trailer and I was fixing the sunken subfloor and was wonding wtf. Why is this wall like this. Iv done floor for 10 years only residential for 3, mostly hardwood gym floor and synthetic running tracks. But that was the first time i seen a flooting wall.
I work on mobile homes for a living. I've seen countless floors in the same condition. It annoys the hell outta me how they build walls on top of the floor without any joists underneath. Walls begin to sag and it's a pain in the ass getting them level
Is what they wanted to do with the insulation bad? If no evidence of mice/rats? Feeling overwhelmed with our subfloor sagging and now soft spots..some mold creeping in. We just bought the place. They put lipstick on a pig. Just want my kiddos safe. Things are so expensive. Thought about doing regular batting and then rtech board to the floor studs in the crawl space? Or probably a bad idea? The floors looked percect when we moved in. New laminate. Now its sagging, soft in some areas. My husband put his foot through. We live in humid SE texas. :/
Something is going on under your house. It sounds like you’re getting moisture so it sounds like possibly that the underbelly on your house might be in bad shape. The only real way to fix that is to remove the floor use advantech Flooring, you can buy it at Lowe’s or Home Depot. They have different names for it. Vantex maybe. It sounds like somebody took you for a ride not sure how long you owned it but as soon as I seen something like that happening, went back to the seller or the real estate.
I helped replace the floor like this years ago. It was a super pain in the ass trying to get all those nails out and that glued particle board loose. Hammers, chisels, & pry bars and a whole lot of blood, sweat & 😭 tears
Add a comment: I have a long way to go and a short time to get there. Is that comment OK? Just kidding, keep up the good work and be sure to rest and drink water.
Need to ask is it better to leave that belly band under the floor there or does it trap moisture . I know it is there to hold up the insulation , but I have also heard people say it is like a wet diaper on a baby , Is it better to remove it or leave it . The place I am referring to has a basement under it
I’ve never really heard of a double wide with the basement, but if it has a basement, then you could probably get rid of it but in my case, I do not have a basement and if I removed it like I did that exposes the truck line for the HVAC to blow air through and it will start sweating because of the temperature under the house so you might wanna close that in
that aint shit i had a camper that had aluminum floor joist if you could call them that 11/2x2" corroded from water had to glue and screw 1/4" aluminum some had to replace 2" to water tank to subfloor replaced particle board with plywood was too thick but made it work covered with vinyl ill not work on another camper

Agreed

Thank you
I really enjoy your stuff, the places you do are like my place. Thanks for demystifying the guts of my house.
Glad you like them!
What material is the belly to hold the insulation of the subfloor ??
It’s called Mobile Home underbelly you might be able to buy it at Home Depot but you probably be better off buying it at a Mobile Home Supply store
I found you just as I have to get this same job done
Go for it. You can do its. It’s hard but can be done

Love seeing how it's done.
Thanks
At 1.05 what’s that a pre installed from factory air box for central heat and air that runs whole length of trailer ?
Yes. Exactly
@ got one in mine I seen other day for first time when replacing insulation even though it doesn’t have central HVAC
Must of been installed in all of that time so u had the option
is a low end sawzall up to this job? (i.e. $60 rigid) - I only have my own place to do. thanks
Yes that’s fine
an osollating tool would make those edge cuts a lot faster then the sawsall we have 2 of them and i love em
I have 1 also. I use it lots. Great comment thank you
I have a soft spot/hole in the back corner of the closet. I have a contractor that just put the flooring over the hole. Now when you step there it shows it is not reenforced.

Thank you for watching and we will be starting a Rubber Roof on a Mobile Home Tuesday this week
What about the smells of the old insulation?
If it smells get rid of it if it doesn’t keep it in there, I’m pretty sure we got rid of all of it

I have a 1968 mobile that came with property we just purchased. Would love for you guys to come and flip it for me as one of your projects!
We don’t do house flipping or mobile home flipping but we do rubber roofing so maybe you just need us to do a roof for you
Hello, my name is Carlos and I am currently from CHC construction home modeling and repairs. I have a question for you. Should I repair the floors first or level the building?
Do you need to level it or do you think you need to level it most of the time you do not have to level but if you do, you might want to do that first
Thank you

They do it all the time in mobile home roofs
No vapor barrier?
I’m not crawling underneath this particular house personally, so the vapor barrier will have to be what I lay my insulation in
@@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I thought you would put a vapor barrier on top of the joists...

I agree with the insulation comment-rodents and whatever. Was there a benefit the customer saw in just adding new in top of old?
Bad idea
Yep millions of nails and staples. I gotta believe the manufacturers give the nail guns to the local kindergarten class.
I could not agree more absolutely ridiculous
