It’s fascinating how many faults you have revealed. To think it has withstood the last 40 years of FL wind and weather and it’s still standing! You make the renovations look easy Doug, even though I know none of it is easy. It’s gonna be great!
I was thinking the same thing, and can you imagine all the errors he hasn't yet discovered. All I can think of is if he found these flaws, can you imagine how poorly other homes have been made this way, if not worst. I think it's scary.
Agree. What came to mind for me was this home still has a lot of life left.
Stan has his white Santa suit on lol. Standing there while the elves are working overtime, typical supervisor.
They couldn't have picked worse spots in the entire house joists to notch, given all the potential water weight of a bathroom. I wonder if this was a case of "malicious compliance" or outright sabotage because I don't understand how anyone in the trades could do this poorly. You're the new Holmes on Mobile Homes.
I love how he looks at his wife and includes her and confirms with her,
as he is explaining their intentions and plans
I can’t even tell you how long I’ve been watching y’all, but man! am I glad I found ya😊
Take care
Hey Kids👋🏼
Although we don't know the exact date Jesus was born, while the world(some) celebrate the 25th of December as this miracle birth, we celebrate everyday the birth of Jesus for everyday His Love, Mercy and Grace is abundant in our lives! Have a wonderful life that is a gift from God🙏 and may He bless each and everyone🙏
Yeshua is our Christ and King. And we set ourselves apart from the world to serve God under Yeshua.
When I saw how compromised that one floor joist was, I literally gasped out loud. Glad you are finding these things now and correcting them.
I can see that during the construction of that home someone was thinking with their kidneys rather than the brain. The sad part is you see the same thing in expensive new stick built homes. Builders just don't care any more. Rig it, hide it, sell it.
Oh my ! You are running into a lot of trouble at every turn!! But bless your heart you just jump right in & tackle it. Making it look easy when I know without a doubt it is very hard work. You are such an exceptional young man. I have great admiration for you. From this old 75 year old woman. I’m hanging in there which ever place you are working either at your trailer or your house. You are the highlight of my day.
End of the old, beginning of the new. U always make something look easier than expected. I’m always inspired and have of sense of enthusiasm instead of dread. A new footprint would be a perfect beginning into this mobile’s second chance. Always find excitement waiting for the next step. U guys keep this old lady motivated.
Every time you refurbish a mobile home, I'm astounded at how light weight and non enduring the products are of which they are made
it seems apparent why the trailer couldn't be completely leveled now. so exciting! looking forward to the remodel
I have been watching your channel for years and really enjoy watching you guys work and and the wholesome family dynamic. I am recently retired from 30 plus years of performing and supervising a Vascular ultrasound lab. I am not going to be one of those who constantly critique your methods and wail about safety ad nausem however there is one thing I have noticed that is not well known yet can lead to chronic issues. I have notice that you use the heel of your hand to hammer home lumber and various things. This practice which seems benign can lead to a condition called Hypothenar Hammer Syndrome which while relatively rare can be result in a condition that ranges from merely annoying to debilitating. I won't bore you with the details regarding repeated trauma to the ulnar artery but just say that it can lead to chronic pain and numbness of the fingers. I remodeled my house and performed all the work myself so I know how tempting it is to use the hand that way rather than keep a rubber mallet handy and personally I believe in "you do you" but I felt compelled to al least inform you of the admittedly small yet avoidable risk. I hope you guys maintain your channel for many years to come as your dedication to DIY is inspiring and I really like both yours and Ashley's quirkiness as well.
Thank you. Very good information. I think we all could use this information as I know I have done this.
You're amazing, Doug !!!! Ashley, you're a great wife by his side with this renovation and reconstruction. Many blessings to you both. 🙏 ❤
I must admit, I was kind of shocked at some of the design choices that must have been made by the manufacturer of the mobile home. Surely they could have come up with a better plan than to notch out the joist the way that they did? I'm excited to see the new floor plan you have in mind!
Doug does nothing by half. I need him on my home haha 😅
Stan belly looks somewhat larger than previously .. maybe back off on the carbs and/or get more exercise :)
Lol
Good morning!!! 🥰 I see Stan is on the job today!!! 😂😂😂🎶🎶🎶🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦
Never thought mobile home restaurations could thrilled me, but you both coming up with your own floor plan, now, that's something to look forward to with excitement.
Merry Christmas.
I appreciate how Ashley and Doug keep chugging forward. Reminds me of the Eveready bunny without the pink fur and floppy ears. (I haven't watched TV in years so that may no longer exist.) I am anxious to see how you redesign the floorplan. With your expertise the end-results will be much more functional, safer and modern than when new.
It is interesting to see how you repair and save something that most people would just discard. And it is interesting to see how these Mobile homes are build differently from a stick structure.
You two are Awesome! Thank you for all you share with us! The work you do is fantastic! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and prosperous New year!!!🎆✝️🎄🎁⏲️🎇❤️🙏🕯️
Stan providing moral support as usual. Glad to see him helping out again.
I LOVE this channel and have been watching it for years. The only thing I miss with this channel, and what I feel would take it to the next level, is a running display of the budget of things. Sort of like they do with Flip Shows.. so each episode it would say here is what we spent and where we are so far. That way we as viewers can get an idea of what things cost as you go along and overall costs as a whole. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work @DIYfferent!
I agree. And size of screws etc. as things are being secured.
Wasn’t expecting another video tonight, so this is a lovely surprise. Have a good holiday and try to find some time to relax. You guys deserve a break. 😊
I love you guys sooo much! My kind of people! Not afraid of getting your hands dirty! And very beneficial tips. Please wear lung protection at all times because you can get very sick as I am sure you’re aware of. Beautiful white shirt! All I can say is you all are awesome and you warm my heart!
Doug will be redesigning that floor plan just like his house
Seem like there's always something but Doug and Ashley you always figure it out have a wonderful day
at times i feel awful that i enjoy your channel so much when i realize how hard you both work AND film
Doug, you and Ashley make a good “Team” and You make Your “Teamwork “ into a “ DREAMWORK”. This video is somewhat important to me, I think it’s because the floor of a home is kinda like “ a Corner Stone” , in a sense, “ it’s the Support of the whole house. “ It’s the “My little Corner Space of Heaven on Earth , yet attached to it and not on it. “ ( My thoughts about this is similar to “ one’s being in the World, yet Not of it . I really like the way you guys constructed this video, also. “ Home Improvement “ is important and if someone wanted to take the route that You have , they are able to get a good idea of what might need repair work done, what to look for , keeping in mind any “ building codes or none “ what needs repair and “ How to “ and “ Why Fix / repair it this way” . This was thoroughly good and enjoyable. You really put yourself/ selves into your “Home Repair” ... as though you would be living in it. If you ever decided to Sell this property, Don’t undersell yourselves. You’ve got the education, work and experience with “ Hands on training “ and past experience. You also have the “ You Tube videos “ as proof that you did the work and if you didn’t who you hired for that service ( which is goo / Free advertising for them and you , should you decided to go that far into “Sales or Real Estate. Who ever did the “producing of the video and “ Camera and Lighting” were good ( I’ m reminded of the last video of Doug in his “ undies” ; hahahahaha. Only proves one can work at home and be comfortable.😁 ) “ Kudos!!! “ I was surprised with the ending... I was impressed with it and I like it very much. 👍👍🙏🎱🦋✨✝️ 21:57
Bit by bit she will get done. Can not wait to see the new floor plan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I need to rip out some floor and rebuild some walls myself. Always cool to see someone else working on trailers.
what company is the home? I lived in a mobile home for 18 years it was a 1974 and it was built much better and in better condition. That mobile had a much better iron frame and designed with more iron support . So congrats to you for taking on this job . Knowing you guys it'll last longer then brand new. Have a great Christmas and New Year
Sunstate Manufactured Homes. The model is Beachcomber.
Mobile homes are the toughest to work on as far as trying to rebuild what the factory did! 32sq ft rebuilt Mr Doug looking good!!
This is true. It's hard to do certain things because of the way and the order they are assembled in the factory. But we like a good challenge!
@@diyfferent No doubt! You look at & wonder How did that pass inspection! Y'all both do great work with a great finish product! Merry Christmas Eve 🎄
Good morning Family,
Wow it is so nice to see you guys again
this week!! Woohoo,,,what a great pleasure!
Good work day,,,,,
Work horses you both are, I love how you
clean up after each work day, that makes the
next work day a little easier to come back to,
or for me too anyways. Lol
Have an awesome rest of your day!
Stay safe, happy and God Bless ❤
Merry Christmas to you all, I hope 2024 brings you everything you wish for 😊
Not easy but needed to be done! Time to secure the job site from vandalism
Again, Stan just "Stan"ding around. He could have done some of that for you. I don't think he's gotten one speck of dust on that suit of his 😄
I love watching you point out other people's mistakes and then fixing them 🙂
Can’t wait to see the final reveal. Don’t spend more money rebuilding than you can sell for.
Ashley would make a great surgeons assistant. She anticipates needs and is very quiet.
Merry Christmas 🎄. Doing a wonderful job. They sure built bare minimum for mobile homes. I’d rather have a refurbished one I’m o ol to do all that kind of work myself, I do enjoy watching others do it though. God bless
imagine trying to sell a shoddy house, the buyers calling in a home inspector, and this guy (doug) shows up lol doug should be an instructor of home inspection 101
ps love that adorable awning on back side window. id keep that
I say this every time you show another really idiotic thing mobile home manufacturers have done. I don’t know how these homes don’t collapse after a few years and when I’m looking for an affordable home to downsize to, don’t even THINK about buying one! 🤦🏼♀️ Your “youthful” energy and ability are way in my past so I really admire what you are able to accomplish in taking wrecks and transforming them into beautiful, safe and comfortable homes. May God continue to protect and bless you and your family in the coming weeks and months working on this project. 🙏💕
The modular homes today have better building standards than they did 40 years ago. They were just tin cans with the cheapest possible standards at the time. We live in a 2002 mod with a full basement and full attic. It just looks like a ranch style home, no one ever believes us when we say it's a modular.
@@janedoe9421 Modular and Mobile are two different things. Mobile is nothing more than a travel trailer without wheels. You get what you pay for. They even have "destination trailers" which is a travel trailer without wheels they drop off at a site. Hurricanes and tornadoes eat these like candy.
Yea, modulars are basically site-built homes, and the only difference being that they are built _off-site,_ :)
Hope you and the kids had a blessed and laughter filled Christmas. Wishing you a very successful New Year!
Seeing all the walls, ceiling and flooring all torn apart gives me a better feeling about what I will be doing in my place now. Thanks.
Merry Christmas Doug Ashley and family.
Thank you for sharing with me for years.
Ashley: "That was dumb". Love your dry comments. Adds funny but true meaning to the poor conditions you've found in some of your renovations. Ashley lends support and experience to Doug's knowledge. What a team. Fun and always something more to learn. Happy holidays to your family.
Merry Christmas to Doug and Ashley's family.
Merry Christmas!
I absolutely love to watch you and Ashley work together. Sometimes it's not as easy as it looks. Doug and Ashley both have a lot of patience with each other and with Belle and Maverick. I congratulate you both for being such wonderful people. Sending you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!
Great work done and so good to see you making it all good again. Ash and Doug, I hope that you got at least one day’s rest to enjoy Christmas xx
Have a great Christmas everyone. 🥳
You’re doing a great renovation! 👏🏼💪👷🤩🏠☺️
2024 will be a great way to celebrate your videos with us. Thanks to this beautiful Family. ❤️
Doug, I’m always so impressed with your workmanship.
Thats something else how they notched out the joists. You're so good at making it right.
It's always fun to uncover other people's shoddy work. It's crazy to think that there was an HVAC guy out there, just cutting out people's floor joists.
That was done by the factory who built the home :\
It is fun to watch you transform this old mobile home into a strong beautiful home. Merry Christmas!
2024 will be a great year for watching this project. Thanks you so much, you work so hard.
I can’t believe the notching!
Genius using the sheetrock bit for the plywood!
It’s always nice to be able to use extra materials from other projects. 👏
🌲
Hi Doug and Ashley. Great job 👏 👍. You are the best!. Keep safe and God bless your beautiful family always ❤
When Doug and Ashley are finished with this mobile home it will be amazing. I've watched them renovate a few projects. I have no doubts about them coming out on top.
Thank you for sharing this past year with us. May 2024 bring you all continued good health and successes. I enjoy your channel tremendously! 😊
It’s nice to see Stan watching over the place. He is top notch security. Merry Christmas to you all.
Glad you mentioned that you all were going to do your own floor plan. It will be interesting to see what you two have up your sleeves, I am sure it will be great.
I see inspector Stan is on site. Merry Christmas to you.
this is a bigger project than I originally thought, but you two can certainly handle it. With all of your experience you know what needs to be done.
Slow and steady wins the race. Merry Christmas,
Nice job, your floor looks great.
I think most of us would be shocked to know what our homes are made of. I hate tornado damage a few years ago and had a new roof and siding repaired. I had no paper under the shingles or siding at all. The repair man took off all the shingles and patched the wood on the roof. He did it right when he put it back. I had to replace the insulation on the west wall and re sheet rock about 18 feet. It was gross mold and slugs in the old insulation.
Doug we not only get to watch your amazing skills when it comes to transforming homes, we are all learning from all your projects. Explaining the problems and the solutions and then showing us how to fix them. You have been an amazing teacher to so many. Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄❤️
Although it is a fairly old house, the good thing is that by renovating it, you are reinforcing the places where there are damages.😊
I love that you clean as you go. It makes everything so much easier in the long run!
Merry Christmas Doug &Ashley and Family🎅 May your day be filled with love and laughter ❤️🇨🇦
I find it interesting to think that the original builders of the dwellings we constantly see being renovated must have been in some sort of agreement to cut corners or just ignore correct building practices. Unless these places were built by one person there must have been some sort of agreement among the builders to do shoddy below standard work.Or perhaps the foreman wanted to just get the job done and didn’t much care about the manner in which he directed he work, speed being the issue. We can see that we really have no idea of what we are buying. Those people who buy Doug and Ashley’s renewed dwellings are sitting pretty . I just love the level of law and order you both keep on your work site ,I really applaud you for the clear up you did at the day’s end.
That new plywood looks great! Super necessary, can't have a sagging floor! 😉
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! 😊❤
Love the attention to detail! My suggestion for HVAC is to run it through the ceiling. You can come up with a design to incorporate it above. It will be so much more efficient. Excellent work!!❤
Boy, you just do not know what you will find when you start repairing an old home!! It takes not just skill but courage!
Merry Christmas, God bless you.
At the end, it shows what a great team you guys are.
I wish you all the best of luck.
Merry Christmas 🎅🎄
All the work that you do makes everything so much sturdier and sound! Nice work. Take care!
While you have that floor up you should check the strap downs on the mobile home, if you resell in the future that will be checked at inspection. Doing a good job and glad you caught the joist not on frame and will add support underneath.
Merry Christmas! awesome job as always!
I always learn something watching y'all.....Happy Biirthday Jesus.......hugs
Doug and Ashley have a nice weekend😊 we don't celebrate Christmas either. I love watching your videos! I'm glad you showed the wood hardner we need to use that on my daughters mobile home.
Doug is such a finesse builder, and yet he seems to really get into demo…….
Can’t wait to follow this home rebuild journey!!!
Hood steady progress!!! The final product will be amazing!!! 🥰🎶❤️🏡🇨🇦
I see that Stan has returned from hibernation and is dressed for the job! He doesn't seem to be contributing, though, as he stands leaning against the wall...lol
Merry Christmas from Kokomo....🎄🎅⛄🤶 I love how you are using supplies you already have and are so frugal.. Its amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
Doug, I am always so impressed with your thoughtful thinking as you "fix" and design your projects. Merry Christmas to you and family!!!
Merry Christmas to your family , have a joyous peaceful day. Can't wait to see what you folks do with this mobile home, you both have such creative ideas.
Edge of seat because you've proven yourselves and trailer will fantastic. 😊
This is all so facinating to me. Love how you are making this mobile home strong!
Doug and Ashley y'all do such an excellent job! I hope you both know how special it is to be able to do all you do with remodeling, etc.
Thanks so much for sharing. "Bye!"❤
I hope you have a nice Christmas and get a chance to relax.
Strengthening the bones. 👏
You do such a great job on the renovations, especially on mobile homes. I've done my share of repairs to floors and roofs of different mobile homes I have owned. People don't realize how they were originally built with 2x2s, 2x3s, and 2x4s. It's kind of scary when you start pulling them apart. But these homes have stood up to rains and winds of Florida for many years.
I would suggest using one of Henry's silicone roof coatings to address the leaks. I've used 100% silicone, and it is great. No more worries about leaks and lasts a lifetime, no need to recoat. It's expensive but absolutely worth the price. Koolseal is junk compared to Henry's. Just my thoughts.
Good luck. Great videos, and I love your family. Keep at it, and Happy Holidays 🎅
Team work sure makes the dream work, cheesy but true. I love watching you 2 work.😍
Can’t wait for your next video
Nice work! 😊 Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! ❤
