      In almost five years of enjoying your content I have ignored the safety comments. Brushed them off as overly cautious with a leave them alone and let them do work mentality. These comments about trench safety are not overly cautious. As a Midwest large ish city firefighter medic/trench rescue technician/ former commercial construction worker, I ask you to look it up. Ask OSHA, the most trench fatalities occur in CLAY soil. If you were digging in sand you would know nine feet down the walls will collapse, so people in Florida use trench boxes. The Midwest everyone is lulled into a feeling of safety with clay. If the collapse is over someone’s head, 99% a recovery. Stay safe.

    • @Melting_Fireman
      @Melting_Fireman 9 дней назад +4

      As a Trench Rescue Technician, it also was concerning after i just watched LA FD have one today in a much shallower trench. I will say this though, that class A material is pretty sturdy but one loose layer as Chet noticed at the far end in the driveway is all it takes to start sloughing & then it is a chain reaction. I would definitely recommend putting ladders down there the next time that will reach up out of the hole. The best thing would be a trench box made from metal.
      Stay safe.

    Not to be that guy, but I’m going to be that guy. (31 years in construction business.)
    When you get deeper than 4’ in a trench, you need to bench it back. 4’ up 2’ over. Bench 2’ over for ever additional 2’ in depth. Or slope it 2/1. But benching it is easier
    That soil you have has a lot of top soil in it. Stay safe !

Your nozzle will shut off without having a big ball valve making the entire system easier to use. We buy from a fire equipment dealer in Sioux Falls, they have it in stock. They come in 50' lengths and screw together if you need longer hoses.

    Change the sweeps while the old ones are broken if you don’t like that make or you’ll have the same problem later down the line.

    I hope you took pictures or drew up an as built map of the new pipework so you will know what you are looking at in 20 - 30 years time when you are trying to camera this tile line.

    Wow, what are the odds that that bag would find its way into your tile system. You should go buy a lotto ticket, 'cause after getting that much bad luck, you're due.

    A gantry Houston will be invaluable if or when you need to get an engine out of a Combine or a tractor. No hanging people without a safety airbag. Concrete is HARD, PEOPLE DON'T Bounce. 9:09

    You'll love that crane. I would add a second hoist. It'll make it easier for long stuff.

    Great to see the crane installed, life is going to become much easier. Dougo should invest in a power broom for the skid loader to clean off the nice concrete pads.
