    I'm putting t-111 on my '79 mobile. And it had continuous gutters over the aluminum 6" band under the roof. The t-111 is 5/8 and it brings the siding to the edge of the roof overhang so Im having to rethink how to keep water from getting behind the siding. I'm thinking about putting L flashing under the overhang channeling the water away from the siding into the gutter. I'm a journeyman drywall finisher with very little carpentry. Thank you for sharing your knowledge brother. I'll call you or send a text possibly this weekend. God bless you.

    • @72Dexter72Manley72
      @72Dexter72Manley72 2 года назад +1

      @@Drewsroofingandhomerepair Hi Drew. Yes it's a single wide with no overhang.
      I'm thinking of ripping 1 side of 2x4's or 2x6's length wise at an angle on a table saw. And screwing them flush into the ends of the mobile home roof trusses to secure them. Then adding flashing with mastic over the top of the wood so I won't have any leaks. I can add blocks underneath the 2x6 or 2x4 to help support it from underneath.
      Then I can add 4-6" tinted plastic panels as the overhang. That would be light weight.

    I'm about to replace gutters on both sides of my trailer with regular gutters for a house (so I can put leaf guard on them). Two questions. Can you use regular house gutters for this? What do you call the "gutter tape" you put on behind the gutter itself? I went to Lowes and Home Depot and got blank stares.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  2 года назад +2

      It is called mastic. You have to buy it at a mobile home supply store. Type in google Mobile Home Supply Store near you. If you showed them a picture of it at Lowe’s they would probably be able to steer you in the correct direction but generally I buy it at the mobile home store and it’s sold as gray putty or mastic they use it behind the windows of a mobile home behind the window frame and they also use it for gutters behind the gutters and putting house gutters up there I’m not exactly sure how you would steal it to keep the water from coming behind it

      I’m not sure how you would seal it

    • @scottburton509
      @scottburton509 2 года назад +1

      @@Drewsroofingandhomerepair I have the 2 inch type gutter on it, but it's rusted out from uncleaned leaves. It's simply screwed to the side of the roof every 4 inches. My plan is to replace the screws, use the mastic to seal the connection to the side of the roof. After gutter replacement, use Henry's elastomeric roof sealant (side benefit as it reduces the electric bill in the summer as it's white) and paint over the top edge afterwards. My neighbor put regular home roofing and spouts (one per side) on a slightly newer trailer.

      Haha, one of my dating requirements, before getting married was rough hands….nothing against any soft handed men, but scars, scratches, and such on hands, tells me a lot about a guy, even if they wear gloves, at some point something happened that made them realize they need gloves, and those marks are still there. Btw, every guy I know owns 72 sets of work gloves, but never wears them.

    If I hired a contractor who had tools that look like that I would be worried

      This job turned out beautiful. I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I used the tools that I would recommend anybody to use. We replaced all the gutters and some of the siding. It turned out beautiful. I’m not sure what you’re talking about my friend but show me better.

      You are so welcome I start one side at the Byrd top. I only drop about a half an inch from one into the other mobile homes. Don’t have much drainage on Gutters as you know I didn’t rewatch the video and I don’t know what color you’re talking about I’m thinking that I have Dremel whatever you call it.
