Thank you so much for *_clearly_* showing how it's done. The mobile home seller who installed my skirting did a shoddy job. They just laid the bottom track right on the ground-level dirt. No footer boards, no flashing, nothing. It didn't take but a couple years for the ground shifting to cause the dirt under those tracks to loosen and all the skirting started coming apart. The little wild critters were like "Yippee, someplace warm to hide!" as they could easily dig their way in. Now here I am, having to reinstall the skirting myself. I don't mind DIY home maintenance, but I really hate fixing things caused by other people's lousy workmanship.
Pardon my ignorance but years ago when we got our mobile home, it was installed the same, on the ground with those long nails, lol. It was good for a while, but then I decided to opt for something underneath ( posts) because of the weed eating holes on the skirting.
Love this idea, half way done! I actually have similar underpinning with rounded 4x4's. Difference is i didn't use stakes, (mistake). We had hurricane Beryl come through and blew some skirting. Side note I had only done a line of bricks underneath the posts on half of installation, and those posts are in great condition compared to the ones left sitting on ground. Thanks for the video! Hoping to see the porch one soon!
Use treated landscaping timbers instead. They serve the same purpose for a fraction of the cost and they look better. I drill two holes at each end and drive rebar through for a strong hold.
thats how i do it but the 2 x6 i run a piece of flashing over it to color match it to the skirting so your not having to look at a 2x6 also if ran correctly it prevents water from sitting on too of the 2x6 kinda the same concept on houses
Keef! I follow you on Tik Tok and then I was searching for how to install underpinning and there you were! I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm triying! Love watching you and your wife! What are ya'll eating for lunch today? :)
Need that with some different mods here in North Central Florida, SICK of that skirting that gets brittle & brakes, I'd want aluminum or steel at ALL 4 corners and maybe in between & maybe some DOWN into the ground to keep crap from digging under, just subbed
I'm redoing my wood siding because of this type of installation. Water gets behind and rots. Any wood on the ground rots don't matter what kind. It don't take long ether. This type of skirting will not meet fire codes and wind will tear it up. Use cement board or better yet metal. Preferably aluminum. Don't go alongside wall but rather under behind exterior siding. Think of the shingle effect. Plastic home don't hold up to wether well. Keeps me busy replaceing hail and wind damage along with wet rot.
You are right but the vinyl works just fine. And it does last long If u live in an Tornado area Just Don’t Buy Mobile homes or Get u a concrete building instead
When i do underpinning for mobile homes i do it just like this except i use rebar and fencing nails instead of the 2x2...never thought about doing it that way..i may try that the next time...only thing i would wonder about is would putting that treated lumber in the ground attract carpenter ants or termites?
YEP wood INTO the ground INDEED draws the termites INTO the home, metal or aluminum at each corner & in between is best, I have SEEN the termites going from what's shown here into the home here in Florida
What part of SC do you work in? What if your mobile home comes with a bottom trim piece? My vinyl siding is vertical and that area has a bottom trim piece.
Where is the access door to be able to access the under side of the home for water lines, duct work, heat tape and such? Is that an extra charge opportunity for you? I even had an electrical outlet installed under the home right next to the access door to plug in the heat tape. Un-plug for summer, plug in for winter. Easy peasy money saver.
I've been living in my home for over 20 years now and the people who set up my home did not do anything like this at all my skirting is raggedy and has been falling apart ever since we've been staying in our home. I've wish I've would've known this was the way it was supposed to have been done but my husband and I were young and we were fortunate time home buyers back in 2000 and now our home is falling apart because the skirting wasn't put on properly 😢
Hey i love your videos! Do you do you offer mobile home skirting services in the pee dee area if so how much for 14x68? Or do you have a number I can call and inquire about services?
The fed gov banned the mfg of mobile homes in 1976. Why are you calling it a mobile? Because it shows up on a truck? What would you call a portable classroom? What would you call a portable construction office? Have you ever heard of modular housing? You really need to learn what you are talking about because you look pretty ignorant. !
When you own 160 plus of em. You can call em whatever you want. If I’m taking the test I’ll check manufactured home. Otherwise it’s a trailer. Glad I’m ignorant and not a troll.
Nice work
I thoroughly ENJOYED watching this video as well as your witty narration! New subscriber!
Love the longer in depth videos! Great job on all your projects I’ve seen you do. Keep up the great content.
Awesome, thank you!

Beautiful job guys.

I love learning from you but I wish you'd do longer videos..
Keef! I follow you on Tik Tok and then I was searching for how to install underpinning and there you were! I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm triying! Love watching you and your wife! What are ya'll eating for lunch today? :)
Much appreciated. Hands on is the best way to learn
Most counties in SC don't allow vinyl or any flammable material for underpinning. Nice professional job 👍
Need that with some different mods here in North Central Florida, SICK of that skirting that gets brittle & brakes, I'd want aluminum or steel at ALL 4 corners and maybe in between & maybe some DOWN into the ground to keep crap from digging under, just subbed
Same for me, here in eastern Oregon.
Do you have a video placing skirting on wooden panel mobile homes?
Thanks guys Looks great
How much do you charge for all the job?
Great video, do you charge per job or per foot on the skirting?
I always charged per job. I would figure per foot with the average height. We only do our own now. Hard to find help
Good video
Hello! Where do I find your porch building video?

Look great guy only concern I got is that ants living in that wood

How many boxes of vinyl does it take to do a 16x 80?
Not sure about the state year end, but in California, we can't have any any wood touching the dirt
so the that 2 x 6 "In" the ground, can it be Trex instead of treated Wood?
I guess you can. Trex is only 1” with a rounded edge. May need to screw something else to it to keep channel from rolling
How much will that job cost with 2x6 way instead of bottom rail
What's an average cost for underpinning skirting on a single wide?
What part of SC do you work in? What if your mobile home comes with a bottom trim piece? My vinyl siding is vertical and that area has a bottom trim piece.
The Pee Dee area. Sorry just seeing this.

How long will that vinyl siding last
I have some 10 years old. Had to replace a few pieces do to rocks from lawn mower but I keep a few pieces under every home.
NOT long, if you go this route make sure you get more than what you need & put it up OUT of the extreme weather, sun, heat for future use
are y’all local to the upstate? my underpinning is in bad shape. Or maybe you know someone in the upstate I can turn to?
I’m in the PeeDee area and coastal. I’m hoping to expand that way soon. My wife just hit her dealer’s license
I need to do exactly on my mobile home please give me info
How much did you charge for that skirt?
Is there a reason why skirting goes down??
I've been living in my home for over 20 years now and the people who set up my home did not do anything like this at all my skirting is raggedy and has been falling apart ever since we've been staying in our home. I've wish I've would've known this was the way it was supposed to have been done but my husband and I were young and we were fortunate time home buyers back in 2000 and now our home is falling apart because the skirting wasn't put on properly 😢
I need to see how to replace a window in a mobile home with this type of siding. Can’t find anything showing how on a newer mobile home.
What part of s. Carolina are you from
Keiths out in Darlington
good job guys
I do skirting takes 3 to 5 hours depending on the ground work I need to do just me
How much does the kit cost?
1400
Mine was done that way and the wood was painted white. It is now rotting and is making the siding fall off. It looks terrible.
Do you have any contact in Jasper county SC
I can't even source this product locally any more. Told the fire marshal rejects it to often and people had to redo upon the yearly inspections.
Whats a job like that cost a customer
Mexicans doing a great job!!!
Guatemala guys here. Best guys I’ve ever worked with.
Ya need to bring them down to Florida & underpin mine( IF they are legal of course ) @@Reellifewithkeef
@@REVNUMANEWBERN LOL. Nice.
Shit. Mexicans built America.
@hotlatino7220 no they didn't
Wood and dirt no. Ants and termites. Maybe that composite stuff.
You talk too fast or I listen too slow.
Sure do make it look easy
Good but weedeater will still throw rocks right through it
Lunch is coming. Man.
watching videos like this shows me what not to do
that's why they lose so many fingers in the south being in a hurry and not using the practice of safety first.
Hey i love your videos! Do you do you offer mobile home skirting services in the pee dee area if so how much for 14x68? Or do you have a number I can call and inquire about services?
You really shouldn't be so mean to your workers. Not allowing them to talk is barbaric.
They just good workers is all
