      Tell your landlord it's their responsibility. Not yours to replace skirting. Unless you cut your own grass and your weedeater has caused damage to it. Other than that they have no legal basis to make you.

      You rent the mobile home? Or you rent the lot? I own mine and rent the lot, but the park was privately owned by a family, but because they had two deaths in the family, they sold the mobile home park to a rental property corporation, all the tenants own their home's and rent the lot's, most all of the tenants are elderly and disabled, we all live on fixed monthly income, and we had to sign new rental agreements with the new owners and on the New agreement it states each tenant had to make mandatory home improvements, to be made at our expenses, if we don't comply they will start eviction process, and we would have to vacate the premises and forfeit our home's, if you are renting the home the park is responsible for replacing your skirting, , unless you caused damage to the skirting, two of the tenants were already evicted, 😢 I think about them everyday, and I pray it doesn't happen to me and my little grandson, I'd be homeless and my grandson would be taken to State foster care system 💔

    Nice video. That corner at 4:00 didn’t look nice and straight though. I’d use the square pressed down to the skirting and bend the vinyl up to get a really clean edge. And if you have one, using a grinder with a cutting wheel (1/16 inch) on it cuts way faster than snips. I usually cut two pieces at a time. I’ve seen people use a circular saw with the blade on backwards to cut several sheets at a time.

      Please see HUD guidelines for skirting installation. If the skirting is not properly vented , moisture accumulation under the house will eventually cause the siding to rot, buckle and mold to grow, voiding any warranty on the home.

She's been trying to find someone to do it for her, but there doesn't seem to be anyone. I asked her if they sell the products that she'll need for the skirt and her answer was no. Great video,I am 61 year's old, disabled, i just completed my skirting, it became mandatory when the privately owned mhp, was sold to a rental property corporation , I own my mobile, and if I didn't comply with the new mandatory improvements, the new owners would start eviction process, according to recently changed Tucson city codes, and Pima county Arizona codes, my mobile home could not be moved, therefore I would have to forfeit my home if evicted, I could not find any kind of kit's like the one's in your video, everything was sold by individual pieces, the bottom ground track 10 feet long, the top track 11 feet long, no pre- bend at the corners , which made it difficult, no instructions on which side of the vinyl siding I should start with, the wider interlock or the thin side of the interlock, I began in Feb of this year and just finished the last part of the skirting which is the rear tail end, that last corner was the most difficult, because I ended up with the same two ends, and couldn't interlock them, 😢I did what I could, whenever I could, mind you these mandatory improvements are at my expenses, my grand total for just the skirting was over 1,000 , the other item on the mandatory improvements list is a aluminum awning ( park approved regulation ) only, min required size 5ft X 5ft for the front of my home, got a estimate on materials for that, 500.00 😳😢, also now they want me to get stairs for my back door, they said it's a violation of fire codes if I don't get stairs, I currently have stacked cinder blocks, but they said NO they must be stairs, they've already evicted two tenants that have owned their own homes and lived in this mobile home park for well over 30 year's, they were elderly and disabled, The Park threw a quick cheap paint job in and out on one, and put down some new but cheap carpet in the living room, and sold the home for 15,000 , the park owner Carry's the loan , so by the time it's paid off, the people buying the mobile home, will have paid 30,000 for a 1972 single wide , it's 2 year's older than my home, seems like this is the New owners intentions, to try to force people from their own homes so the park takes possession and sells them, it's ridiculous, like I mentioned, most everyone in This park are elderly and disabled on monthly fixed income, and we surely don't have extra money for the mandatory improvements requirements, especially if there's a unexpected emergency, like my electric hot water heater went out right before Christmas, it was not repairable, it was another 900.00 to have replaced, I really despise rental property corporation's they don't care about people, I keep thinking about the 2 elderly disabled tenants that lost their homes, I would hate to end up losing my home, it's just me and my 10 year old little grandson, I'd end up homeless 💔 and my grandson would end up in state foster care system, sorry 😔💔 I probably shared to much, and most people really don't care anymore anyway, thank you for sharing your video

    I’m new to mobile homes. Shouldn’t something go above the top rail where it butts up to the vinyl siding? Seems like a gap that is a great spot for water intrusion. I don’t know what you would do, but it seems like there should be something! Any ideas?

    • @DeeVineDeeZine
      @DeeVineDeeZine  4 года назад

      no water intrusion at all with this process. it works great. the vinyl siding actually protrudes from the plywood by about 3/4 of inch creating it's own covering. the overlap is what keeps the water out. we have had this installed for over 3 years and have never had any issues with water seepage. thank you so much for watching and good luck with your new home.

    Don't use vinyl material to skirt your mobile home. Don't do it. I know it's cheaper than wood or metal, but don't do it. The first time your lawn mower throws a rock, it'll bust a hole in the vinyl. If you weed eat up next to it, it'll get holes busted all over the place. If you need to take down a piece of vinyl skirting in the wintertime for any reason (frozen or burst waterpipe), the vinyl will crack and break into pieces when it's cold.
    With all of that said, wood or metal is much better. Metal is best, because it'll last nearly forever. Metal is harder to install just because it's a little harder to cut and work with than wood is. Wood look prettier imo though, but doesn't last as long as metal, but it sure lasts longer than vinyl if you keep it painted.
    Just my two cents worth, because we live in a mobile home that originally had vinyl skirting, and I had to replace it. Oh yeah, animals can and will push vinyl skirting aside and get under your mobile home. Big dogs, cats, varmits, whatever. Then they'll rip holes in your vapor barrier and your underneath insulation will fall down. Don't use vinyl skirting I'm telling you, or you'll regret it, big time.
    Peace ✌

But i found 2 places but they want almost 300 to just ship so about 900 for it.... There has to be a better way to get it.... Any thoughts thank you all god bless

      We found ours at a local building supply that is known to carry unique things for mobile homes. It is a small local business, not a chain, so I am not sure how to find suppliers like that. Maybe your local home depot or Lowes can tell you if there is a place near you that carries those unique items for mobile homes. A lot of times our Lowes and Home Depot direct us to places they know has mobile home supplies. So sorry we can't be of more help. I sure hope you are able to find what you need.

      @@DeeVineDeeZine we were lucky the hail was very small. It broke all the way down and our neighbor fixed it automatic screw driver put it on top sm. Screws no idea what they called but sure work better then the vinyl skirting went on top of the rails I wish the guys that worked on it didn't secure it with screw a lot more sturdy.

    • @wahoospa1
      @wahoospa1 6 лет назад

      Tin snips will work your fingers to the bone if used enough. Get a circular saw and take the blade off and turn it around putting it on backwards. Measure your area for about where 5 or so cut sheets will go. If all 5 are around the same height then lay 5 full sheets on top of each other, make a pencil mark across the top sheet and saw thru all 5 at one time. This is fast and it gives a perfectly straight cut. And looks professional.

    • @anthonylavine2831
      @anthonylavine2831 6 лет назад

      @@wahoospa1 why are you telling people to put a blade on backwards? That seems very unnecessary

    • @TheRealAM1893
      @TheRealAM1893 5 лет назад +1

      @@anthonylavine2831 because certain things need the blade backwards to cut. ie: vinyl skirting, metal roofing, etc unless you have a specialty blade which is $$$$ and turning the blade around is cheaper. Otherwise having the blade facing the proper way will shred your material to bits instead of cutting like a hot knife through butter.

    And if i have a trailer that is on a hill not so easy...make sure ground is level um no....the ground changes by 3 foot from one end of the trailer to the other soooo? I have a zillion angled pieces I guess?

    • @DeeVineDeeZine
      @DeeVineDeeZine  7 лет назад

      our property is also elevated on one end. we have about 18 inch clearance at one end of our home and about a 3 foot clearance on the other end. the ground needs to be level and smooth, it is the top of the cut that will be slightly angled. however, if you cut to the dimensions we mentioned, you don't even have to worry about the diagonal cut because the top piece is hidden under the rail and will never show. but, yes, the ground needs to be smoothed and leveled from any rocks or debris. That skirting looks like it is very difficult to REMOVE. Some day you will need to get UNDER the mobile home to do some plumbing or electrical work. How you gonna get under there? I will look for another style that allows easier access to get under there to do work.

      Angie Baker I agree. I know this system doesn't require it but if this was the system I used in the area where I live I'd frame it anyway because we get lots of heavy snow and hard gusty winds. Ideally, I'd choose a different underpinning system but if I came into this for free or this was all that was available at the time I'd do what I had to.
