Oh Vasantha Raja..❤ Great fusion song.. In the middle, there was one western piece in which Archana will dance alone in the sea shore. The transition from interlude to Saranam is awesome. Equal credits to be given to lyrics by Pulamaipithan. Similar kind of fusion song composed by SPB in Sigaram movie. Vannam Konda Vennilave..❤

IR's VAST ocean-like repertoire extends beyond that of "film songs" into "Background Scores" and then it extends beyond mere "films" into Symphony compositions, documentaries, TV series and private albums. STOP putting everyone on the same pedestal assigned by you; it only shows your ignorance and ulterior motive behind despising IR.
The list of MDs you mentioned have excelled in their days, for sure but why IR is cut above the rest is the instrumentation genius he is.the variations of every musical instrument he combines in a progressive manner is extraordinary. My understanding is songs are recorded first and filmed later. I could be wrong though. Therefore, the director must have had idea of the way the song would be picturized and hence the consumes etc,. With respect to the fusion part itself, Ilayaraja is equally comfortable in western, Carnatic, folk (naturally), maybe Hindustani also. Therefore, what deserves an analysis he must have done that just like that and moved on. Having that, your presentation is rich in detail and help us unravel tge beauty of the composition. Thanks. It is as enjoyable as the songs themselves.
