    Best time to start putting the flower in the jar is when its dry to the touch on the outside, but still has moisture on the inside/stem.
    From there you place it in jars and sweat out the last bit of moisture by burping the jars and turning the flower for the next couple of days.
    Drying and curing is an art form of its own and its just as if not more important than growing the dope to begin with.

      Lay the jar on it's side. The heavy moist air can flow out creating a slow air exchange. A hydrometer in the mouth of the jar works well.

    Exactly correct. The only thing I personally have found is, hanging the harvested plant in either a big cardboard box with holes punched in for airflow, or a paper bag makes a big difference. Preferably in a zero light environment. I've dried in as few as 4 days, but over 7 gets a bit dicey in the climate I live in. Also if you can acquire some brown or green glass jars for the cure to keep the light out, your buds will taste heavenly.

      I put mine in a box [12 quart jars] with a removable lid they are clear jars but a nice box is great for keeping out the light if you don't have colored glass jars. You could also stack a few like that. And have them next to you tent even without any worries. Not to forget seeing thru the jars is important and handy if you wanted to use a magnifier on the outside without opening the jar you could.

    I find that the closer it gets to dry, the faster it dries. You need to be checking it often as you get near the end. I'd rather jar a little early than too late. A mini hygrometer in every jar is a must. Cheers, I've been enjoying your podcasts as well.

    So here is a hack that changed everything for me when it comes to harvest. If you’re not bumper cropping try this . Don’t cut your plants down . Cut all large fans off , Kill the lights or move them to your drying area in their pots. Let them dry standing up . The cool part about this is when it comes time to trim . The leaves on the bud stand straight out instead of folding around the bud . Days before your plants are dry the leaves on the buds will be super crunchy . You can literally run a gloved hand over the buds ( not even touching them ) and the leaves come
    Off clean and fast . It’s actually incredible how much easier it is . A few days later I debone with a final clean and into the cure buckets it goes . Give this a try . My drying area is 62 degrees and I maintain 62 percent humidity and it takes about 21 days to reach the point where they are ready to cure . Trust me , try this .

    Drying half a dozen ounces now. I hung them in my walk-in closet for 2 days and then put them in brown paper bags and put the bags in my 'mini' fridge with the temp dialed all the way UP. It stays 48 degree inside and the bags help retain the moisture. I did this last summer/fall when my outside temps were in the high 80's and it worked out fairly well. It should take about 3-4 more weeks before they are ready to be jarred.

    Great topic! Drying and curing at home has always been the biggest issue and the greatest detractor from final homegrown flower quality, and equally detracting is long term storage of 90 days or more. I have a Cannatrol Cool Cure that does indeed solve all of these issues. Yes it's expensive, but it works. In fact it's a lot like having a pro mini dry room at your house. It drys, cures, and is then the perfect long term storage solution, but it only holds 2 pounds of wet flowers for the dry/cure run and it's consistent, 907 wet grams in, about 250 dry grams out. I just harvested a Bittersweet Haze run and put 2 pounds of wet flowers in the Cannatrol, posted the video to my channel yesterday. When it's done I'll post a weigh-in video and take a critical up close look at the flower coming out of the machine and will measure it's final moisture content. Cannatrol offers no affiliate program, I have no discount code, but I am very happy with the product. Is it worth $1600? Probably not... but when you're the only guy selling water in the desert you can pretty much name your price.

For drying I use an small grow tent and hang the plant, the tent has an small extractor and an small fan to work on an schedule. This is just for moving the air inside.The plant will be there like 15 days, and the I cut the flowers and put them in small jars of glass. 250 ml. Enough for some 10 gr, Then I just put the jar in boxes , open the jars a week after to liberate moisture and then the weed is in the jar until I take it, This way I open small packages that will no affect the environment of the other jars curing.

    I cut off the stalks, remove fan leaves and place them in a paper grocery bag, for about a week, mixing them up some to ensure consistant moisture. I put the grocery bags in a cool place in my house. About the time the stems will break, I remove sugar leaves and place the buds in a glass jar with a temp and humidity meter build into the jar lid. I will burp the jars a couple of times per day until the meter shows just under 60% moisture content. I have had buds mold when they are over 60%.. Once below 60% I will cure the buds until needed. In some cases a year....

    Curing is just slowly drying it. I find the slower you can dry the better. I starve the plant for light and water. Let it extract all it can. Less water at harvest the higher the brix. It needs some water to move sugars. Partly girdle and split some late flowers outdoors. To get them done sooner which could be bro science.

    60/60 isn't even the best variables for drying. 50/55rh is optimal. But when drying you have to maintain a solid vpd just like when growing to get best results

      For real. Terps preserve better sub 55 degrees. Vpd management is crazy important during dry and cure. People stop paying attention to it after harvest and shoot for 60/60. And for most 60/60 isnt attainable. Atleast the rh part. Out of wack vpd eill give you mold, hay tasting sheet, etc. @@dM-if9lj

      just hang the filter up in the tent have the fan on the outside I did it for years with numerous strings stretched across the tent to hang individually cut branches it's amazing how much you can pack into the tent I also have a small fan on the floor of the tent pointing downto get some airflow in the place

    Live resin says different...either your cannabis fire or its not...we use to microwave fresh flower to get stoned back in the 90tys waiting on crop...and live resin is straight off the plant frozen..yes some do cure after they get live resin to concentrate for a few weeks.does it make it better I can't say...I feel sorry for newbies trying to grow cannabis of today....too much science behind cannabis now...
    You can grow fire with powder milk,empsom salt and molasses..if your genetics are good...most over water and cause in housa situations..

      I mean…. Nutrient ratios rarely vary plant to plant. If a plant needs more of something you give it more…. If it needs less you give it less. Like you do realize ever nutrient company does the same thing growdots do… they give you bottles that you add in a fixed ratio and they usually give you a range of light and heavy feedings. Growdots just have every bottle in one and organically breakdown rather than pour out the bottom of your pot.

      @@TonyisToking tell me you're joking. Nutrient requirements don't vary from plant to plant? Dude, nutrient requirements vary from individuals of the same cultivar in different conditions, let alone plant to plant. Gtfoh and learn to grow yourself instead of hoping someone else got the nutrient balance close enough to work for you.

      @@gypthcnuryse7611I get the appeal. It really lowers the entry level to have someone do all the learning and balancing. I'm just coming from a place and time where real live actual hands on experimenting and working with what's on hand with limited access to information was the only way. Now I'm kind of salty that after decades of experience and studying and balancing, now the kids up the block are growing stuff almost as good as me with a bag of premixed stuff they bought and threw in their premixed soil they bought and threw under the light they bought in the tent they bought that they control with their iPhone growing strains they bought. It kind of negates my lifetime of experience and deep knowledge of growing and breeding... makes me feel useless.

    The best way to dry and cure is to use a freeze drier. Hands down the best (.) 24 hrs boom done perfectly preserved with a shelf life of up to 1 year in an air tight container. The only con is the cheapest machine cost about 4gs usd currently. Edit add, you can use it to preserve food for 25 years too. I like the freeze dried iced cream sandwiches. Edit add , another possible con is if you like sticky bud, if so you will have to put a 62% humidity pak in 30 hrs prior to use

    • @OGhitta91
      @OGhitta91 6 месяцев назад +1

      How’s the stickyness of the bud and the shelf life after freeze dry? I like buds well cured that stick to my thumb that defy gravity. Does the freeze drier make it a little dry ? Goal is stickiness for me

    • @eternalspring1034
      @eternalspring1034 6 месяцев назад

      @@OGhitta91 you would have to put a 62% humidity pak in for about 30 hours if you want it to be sticky again. The shelf life is 1 year stored in an air tight container. If you don't have dense buds it will point it out to you.
