I really need to get one! I come from a state where we can carry pistols at our hips just not joints in our lips but thankfully my neighbors are relatives and they too look forward to my harvesting. Not my landlord though 😅 when he needs to come around, I start frying some bacon and throw a bag of popcorn in the microwave 😂

Carbon filters work good but what I do is I took a cardboard box and traced my filter on the side of it, cut the hole out and put the filter inside. I took a bunch of dryer sheets and filled the box with them so when the filter exhausts (passive filtration) it blows thru the sheets creating a fresher scent. Works pretty good.

I'm fortunate and live in the woods with no neighbors for close to 1/2 mile. I grow in a shed and it reeks close to harvest. I couldn't imagine trying to get rid of the smell in a neighborhood or something.

I agree. Paranoid derps started breeding cannabis with zero taste or smell so they can make concentrates with the plants. They don't care about taste or smell because they're busy making the cannabis version of crack cocaine. Just a bunch of losers with no reverence for the wonderful flavors that can be experienced with excellent strains.

A big thing for odor control is keeping you temps down, and that includes having your lights a proper distance from the flowers. The hotter it is the more volatile the terps become and off gas faster. Happy growing everyone!

Carbon filters are great. You can also run one as a general odor filter in the room. A must for any growing in my opinion. I use ozone to clean. I never put ozone on a plant. Ozone is nice since it can get into places that are hard to clean with other methods. While ozone kills smells it is not what it is best used for. Both have places and do different things. Good video Scotty.

In my 2 decades of indoor hobbying 🌱 I have rarely ever used a carbon filter, even in late flowering etc 😱 I have lituarly done simple things like cooking garlic every day when aromas rise , & put down shake & vac carpet freshener, glade plug in near main entrances, cover air vents with scented laundry sheets ,odour gels but I found them expensive for the overall effects, keeping certain opposite windows ( especially on windy days)nearby open to ensure constant air flow so aromas don't build up..
At any stage of growth when the lights go out get ready then for a major aroma rise ,then it soon calms down..
I have also used a multitude of ozone machines , the small plug in the wall ones work a real treat in strategic locations But generally break after about half a year.. That's if they are still around these days? 🤔
Then there's the bigger freestanding plug in ones & they again nuke all smells & ones these days are more reliable and I have nuked plants close up with them and the leaves end up looking pretty much like a spider mite infection does, Tons of tiny small yellow spots & yes the plants smells absolutely diminished, but I didn't care tbh 🤔🤣 But that was only because I was running the machine directly in the growing space lol... If kept outside the growing space then I find Zero effects ( as long as it's not directly near a intake fan) I blast mine 20mins in the morning and 20 mins at lights off once ours kick in heavily, then I just leave it be for a bit before going where I've used it.
Carbon filters are obviously easier & probably much safer option lol I'm Not trying to encourage anyone to not use one, I would Always recommend someone to use one if odours an issue, but I don't practice what I preach 🤣 🌱 Happy growing everyone 🌱 & Happy New Year 🌍🌱😎

If you have a ZERO defect criteria for skunk smell then just one carbon filter won't be enough. I run 3 plants in a 2 X 4. I have one 6"running inside the tent that pulls the air through the filter and exhausts the air back into the tent. I also have one hooked up to my exhaust tube that pulls the air out of tent and pushes it through the second filter. Then I have a third filter in the room to catch what the other 2 missed and for when the tent is open. All 3 filters are 6" AC Infinity. Don't even think about using 4" filters. This is the bare minimum for me to keep SWMBO happy.

Is it a necessity to exhaust the air out of the room from the carbon filter and the inline? I'm considering setting up a grow but in Australia we have to be careful and since I live in a rented aptment so I can't just go cutting holes in my walls or windows to vent outside. Is it okay just to have the filtered air flow into the lung room and back into the tent?

@@DipherOneCICrew Fine to do that but since you need to be careful you may need more than one carbon filter to do the job. Don't get a 4" filter. Get 6" or larger. A lot depends on which strains you grow. Some are more stinky. Some less. I would get AC Infinity refillable filter cannisters.

I keep my closet door open and vent into the room from through a inline carbon filter from the start of fall to end of spring with a window cracked like 1/2 to1/4 inch or so just to let cool air in during the winter (Canadian) when its easy to keep cool. Stays around 78-80f. Before the closet I had the tent near a sliding window and fabricated a 6" dryer vent into some plywood, painted it white to vent it out like a portable air conditioner. I never had to cut any holes in walls, if your screens can pop out you might be able to make it work and not look suspicious.
I've also never vented directly into the tent like a sealed system. Sorry that I can't help you there but from experience I know that humidity and temperature will have to be looked after in a sealed system. @@DipherOneCICrew
