    I'm a Chemist by profession and currently going through a Masters (hoping to do a PhD). Scotty uses a lot of analogies which at pretty damn good at getting fairly complex concepts across with simple ideas that are more than good enough for plant growth. Scotty has said before that he isn't good at chemistry. I am starting to doubt him on this statement because he's hitting the nail on the head when it comes to broad strokes of Chemistry concerning plants and nutrients.

    I just used Fox Farm's Happy Frog for the seedling and Ventilation stages, and I used Fox Farm's Ocean Forest in the flowering stage. And I use nutrients 4 weeks into the vegetation stage because the nutrients in the soil are almost depleted. Fox Farm's Happy Frog and Ocean Forest soils are packed with nutrients.

    The "proper" order to mix your nutrients.
    1. Silica (wait an hour of using powdered)
    2.Cal-mag
    3. Micronutrients
    4. Grow nutrients
    5. Bloom nutrients
    6. Bloom boosters (for flowering)
    7. Humic acids + teas
    8. Wetting agent (ie yucca)
    9.Mix, shake, wait 20 min, shake, mix and test pH
    10. Adjust pH (if needed)

      This way also allows me control PK amounts so well too because I start PK boost nutrient increase 2-3th week of flowering with recommended amounts but by week 5-6th I double it from regular use and this works almost only in Coco or hydro with gorilla glue based strains or strains that has XL on it(some strains just can't handle amount making foxtail buds instead big and thick) and then lower again for 7th and 8th is very low or just water. I also increase DLI and CO² amounts if I double PK amounts among with other stimulators. But N amounts stay same, only controlling PK amounts depending on week of flowering

    Noob here, with a few questions...
    1. Anyone know if you can up-pot a plant if it's already in flower? I started them in 3 gallon fabs, but I got some 5 gal fab pots now. I'm thinking I will have to let them ride it out in the 3's. It would probably be stupid to attempt it, I mean if it upset their flowering, made them go into shock or something... aw man. The reason I went with 3's is because I was worried about space, but I think a 2x4x6 tent can handle a few 5 gallon pots. It would be a bit tight, but the plants might be happier, and I wouldn't have to water as often.
    2. Can you run a cloning bucket in a tent that's in flower cycle? (12/12)
    3. You guys ever foliar feed? Like with that superthrive stuff? What do you all say about foliar feeding? Does it work? Waste of time? (My purple punch is a hungry, bushy little gal lol)

    If you're growing organically you shouldn't be worried about it unless you use aggressive amounts of nutrients that alter the ph somehow but I've never had a problem ever with ph. For hydroponic or chemical fertilizer ph is definitely important.

      A 3gal can only do so much "organically" before it's depleted most of the nutrients... which means if you try to overload it to last long enough, you'll have lockout issues. A battery can only hold so much before you need to upgrade. Whether it's becoming synganic, or potting up. That's when it either outgrows your space... OR you're no longer organic anymore

    • @exshenanigan2333
      @exshenanigan2333 5 месяцев назад

      @@freedom_born I agree. I'm still using the amendments to mix my own soil and top dress, do compost teas etc but I also regularly feed with a clean nutrient line like megacrop or jack's so that makes me a snyganic grower I guess. I just stopped believing the claim that synthetic nutrients "kill the soil microbe" because apparently they don't. The only thing I'm trying to stay away from is pesticides and spraying stuff on plants. So my approach is to keep everything clean, use ladybugs if it's doable and keep pesticide use at bay.

      Sounds like Welcome To The Grow tent. GT preaches 5-7 so that’s probably what you saw. His method is intended to be a starting point to get a successful first grow. That’s what I did at first but eventually figured out that I had to refine the process.

      You shouldn't have to worry about pH at all with organic growing. Unless you're water is ridiculously acidic or alkaline. I've been growing for over 30 years and I've NEVER had a pH issue ever.
      It's a non issue for everyone I know who grows commercially too. Unless it's a hydroponic grow,pH shouldn't even be a concern

      @@daddy1571 I know but I always check to make sure that my reverse osmosis filters are still good. I always check PH and PPM to determine when I need to feed them. My routine works and I’m not looking to change anything because I’m getting great results.
      I think when a guy in his seventies figures out how to grow successfully by watching videos and taking notes I deserve a medal. Young growers don’t appreciate my accomplishments but I enjoy the fruits of my success every night. Mission accomplished and I did it my way.

      Grow dots are a one application full cycle nutrient, if you add more it will start the veg nutrients over again. They are are salt based so would not do well in living soil, you can use them will soil but will need to lower the dose of grow Dots you use.

    I wish this chart was more specific to cannabis Because this say a ph of 7 is best. Only missing out on a little iron. at a Ph of 7 🤔 but they say cannabis should be grown between 5.5-6.5 🤔

    • @farmerjhemp
      @farmerjhemp 5 месяцев назад

      Dr. Bugbee suggests 6.5. in his trials he saw some manganese issues with the lower pH ranges typically used in cannabis. The manganese deficiency is typically misdiagnosed. Average Joe just keeps throwing more fertilizer but having that 6.5 pH eliminates that late flower deficiency that's common.

      Absolutely not. Lemon juice is citric ACID. It lowers pH but is also a weak acid and can break down faster allowing pH to rise over time more so than say phos acid or sulphuric acid would because theyre stronger acids.

      Hahaha me too...I've grown some real dankydank using vinegar and baking soda. The PH+/- is a bit easier though. Usually, I'm going down from a basic tap water. Also, another weird thing I use to do was flush with rainwater. Now I don't think there's a major difference, but I think the rainwater is a better choice than a lot of tap water out there.

      Yeah, but baking soda murkies up the water and clogs automatic watering systems. Somehow I'm convinced that the baking powder is good to use with coco as I believe it aids in nutrient buildup.

      In soil when using beneficial microbes we also want to keep pH in a good range for them to flourish. But as Scotty said, microbial life will also "self regulate" soil PH with secretions. Also, compost teas can be bacterial or fungal dominant and those 2 groups can affect PH in different directions (up or down). Most people recommend bacterial teas for veg and fungal for flower.

      I've been growing for over 30 years and I've yet to see any ph change from any compost tea,worm castings,or organic fertilizer. I'm not sure why people are so hyper focused on things that are a non issue,but fail to grasp the importance of more pressing factors like feeding and watering properly.
