I'm doing my first grow. I used compost that I made with leaves and stuff and some dirt from the Home Depot and apparently I lucked out and have it dialed in perfectly. My plant is huge, and bushy and green, no yellow or brown leaves. I fertilize with blood meal, bone meal, earthworm castings, and some fish based stuff called Morebloom, which is 0-10-10. I do small amounts kind of often. This thing is super healthy. Hopefully I don't fuck up but it's doing really well now.

I use a touch of that morbloom as well. Some varieties will get more hungry for potassium and phosphorus. Like Purple Punch for example; they tend to have a lotta leaves and grow in kinda shaggy looking lol. All those leaves cost potassium to run I think. Plus the phosphorus is something they need as well, in order to properly use their calcium they gotta have some phosphorus present. I still don't understand a lot of it, but I know what the experts are saying these days. One of the latest things is the discussion about how Phosphorus, in a very roundabout way, can make your plant better able to use the calcium that is available to it, simply by makin' healthier roots.
Speaking of which, I just took one of my Ya Hemis, and I dissected her pot afterwards, to see what happened. This is the one I burned real bad, and something had stunted her on top of that. Well, turns out it was because I used one of those little starter disc things to pop those seeds. Then, the little disc expands up into what looks like a little bag with soil in it. Well, it said the little bags disintegrate.
They don't. my little Ya Hemi's main tap root was bent off to one side, like it had grown around some obstacle. Yeah, that stupid little bag! From now on, I'm just plantin' in the top of my own soil mix, in a 5 gal. fab. Now if I could just find some cheap little tray things to put under them, I could bottom water.

I've found one of the best things to have is FANS. Good swing fans and plenty of them will prevent mold, mildew, insects, and give great air flow to the plants. I use a bottom fan gently blowing air underneath my plants, another gently blowing through the branches, and another blowing cooling air across my lights. Fans are critical to good crops.

I grew outside for 20 years before I tried growing indoors, except for growing mother plants and making clones. I've been growing indoors for the last 25 years and I'm glad I had the outdoor experience first. I grew mostly in swamps and wetlands so mildew and mold were a factor I had a lot of experience with. I tell new growers you're going to make mistakes, make your grow as simple as possible without making it simpler.

I Ihave been growing for 27 years and breeding for 11 years, I grow indoors full time as well as outdoors every season. Indoors, I use Deep Water culture for my flower runs, and I use Coco/perlite for my breeding projects. Outdoors I rely on soil, compost, and good old Mother nature. I have made numerous mistakes over the years but I am glad that I made those mistakes because it gave me the opportunity to learn how to find a solution and implement it into my routine. The most recent mistake I made (around 8 years back) was a disaster. I went from the breeding chamber to the flower room without changing my clothes and washing up which pollinated my flower room. The result was a flower room full of seeds and a very costly lesson......Lesson learned.

I’m checking off all the right boxes according to this video. Minnesota makes sure we don’t crowd our grow space with their four plants in flower and four in veg rule. I have copies of that PH chart along with feeding schedules hanging on the wall and set ppfd and DLI according to charts. I’m not right on with temp and humidity but am always solidly within the recommended range. The only time I’m off a bit on recommend temp and humidity is when I’ve got something in the drying tent and veg stage. Then I have to compromise and get up to the 70-72 range while drying. Aside from that it’s always within range and if the veg tent is empty I can zero in closer to 60/60.
Range is the key word here that is sometimes overlooked. Outdoor growers deal with deer, storms, drought, and this summer monsoons. Like I say, they dry in the pole barn and do a fantastic job based on past samples.
I feel pretty good as I’m on top of proper watering as well. That all came naturally from planting outdoor gardens and having a yard to take care of since 1974.
I like these episodes where I don’t feel like any changes are needed. Validation that I guessed right.

I've got a 3 x 3 and it has 6 3 1/2 gallon pots and I opting for two more because altho the space is tight it is there. Ive done it before and I keep everything trimmed and tidy at all times and work hard to keep the plants from overlapping or touching each other and keep them smaller than I normally would with less plants. The benefit is that if one or two plants don't grow well the others will make up for it. Interestingly enough with just four plants I had my biggest harvest but those were with 5 gallon buckets. And let me tell ya G13 is a seriously stinky strain. But I do believe Scotty is right about the plants wanting and needing there own space and even if there not touching or overlapping they seem to know its to tight. Somehow they know.

well, in my newbieness and excited mindset to start my first grow in September this year I made probably the biggest bonehead mistake. I did not rinse nor buffer my coco. According to the company, re email contact, they claim they triple wash the coco, so salt content should be low. They also claim that a lot of people grow plants with their coco . BUT they also didn't have the pH or CEC for the coco. (I like to learn stuff). Anyway, I have 3 plants growing. One is about two weeks behind the older 2, which popped 9/7/24. One is doing pretty good and the other is growing, but showing signs of stress. Anyway, without writing a novel, my biggest mistake was not buffering or rinsing my coco prior to transplanting into 5 gallon pots. It didn't wipe me out, but I am pretty sure the leaf curl and discoloration is a nutrient issue associated with the salt content of the coco. It could be genetics or other environmental factors also. Which is confusing as one plant of the two siblings is doing so well. My next step is to add Cal-Mag when I water next and with future watering down the road. Nutes, lighting, rH, pH, etc are all in a safe range. Growing cannabis is a fun experience, but to my amazement and a bit of my frustration, there is much more to it than any garden flowers I have raised from seed to flower.

That chart on nutrient absorption is very helpful. I’ve been fighting an iron deficiency on new growth.the old growth is perfectly green and healthy. Out door grow in straight ground. I added CaliMagic to my nutrient cycle and the plants got better. Then it keeps coming back. What I didn’t do was check the ph of my nutrient solution. When i finally checked the ph it was 8.5 in the water and high 7 in soil. I dropped the ph in the water to 5.5 and watered again. This brought my soil down to a low 6. 🤞 it fixes the problem. It’s almost time to stretch and flower so I’m hoping it’s fixed, but I’m getting so nervous being this close to flower.

I Never tested my ph levels because our water used to be perfectly at 6,5.
Once a year our city runs cheaper water that is at 8,2. Obviously that was the problem 😅
It was interesting to see that the plants are not able to absorb Iron with an ph of over 8. thank you for your help ❤

7:00 overwatering is only an issue with young root systems. Ie; germination and early veg. This is critical Scotty!!! Most RUclipsrs are stunting during germination and early veg from too much moisture extending veg times. Then they underwater when the roots are mature causing osmotic shock that looks like deficiencies. It's not overwatering or underwatering, it's insufficient irrigation, PERIOD.
It's time to understand root hairs during early rooting, fresh air availability to the substrate (this is where co2 supplements fail you Scotty!) and most importantly, growers must get a handle on the moisture needs of the plant. This comes from growing experience ONLY. Learning to irrigate appropriately comes with HANDS ON EXPERIENCE ONLY.
You can't overwater with mature root systems unless you're trying to. But you can easily underwater because of irresponsible RUclips advice... Grow to know!

The other plant just continued to droop until I put it out of its misery. Now the one plant that ended up coming back is growing really slow, been three weeks and not yet big enough to uppot.
Is this what is meant by "stunting?"

Hi, i applaud you for the packed grow tent ,but to be honest 9oz is a pretty small yeild for that many plants. I got 10.8 oz fully dried from 2 plants. I'm doing my first pure organic outdoor grow this year lots more planning ahead I'm realizing it takes weeks for some amendments to break down enough for the plants to up take the nutrients. It's definitely challenging to get everything balanced

    • @actionjksn
      @actionjksn 7 месяцев назад +1

I'm having good luck with organic. As you said it takes awhile for the nutrients to break down, but you can time it. I'm using blood meal for nitrogen and also worm castings. Also using bone meal and some liquid fish based stuff which is 0-10-10, I think it's called Morebloom. I use pretty small amounts kind of often and it's doing great, lots of growth and no yellow or brown leaves. If you do it just right those products are constantly feeding just the right amount.

I have only 4 plants in a 6.5'x6.5' greenhouse grow(8' of head room)that I started early May. They're in 15 gallon pots using COM stonington blend soil. I topped the plants I've been growing in my indoor tent as early as possible, and they grew maybe 24"-26" tall in my grow tent, looking like a menorah, with equal sized large branches all pretty much the same distance from the light. These plants in the greenhouse however are out of control. I have only 4, albeit in 15 gallon fabric pots. They're taller than me, despite being topped when young. It's awesome, but I'm worried about not having enough room! I wanted bigger plants in the greenhouse than last year, but this is just insane! Apparently they're loving the 15gal pots with stonington blend, and full sun every day. I should also mention the weather has allowed for almost zero cloudy days since May. I'm not sure what to do at this point, or if they get too big, maybe I should dissemble the greenhouse around them and hope for the best lol.

Btw, I’m an organic guy and have been using recharge from day one and love it. Lately I’ve been thinking of using salts and thought….” Well recharge works so well, I wonder how grow dots will do” so today I bought my first bag of dots.
I only grow autos and was wondering how they do on shorter grow times like the 65-75 day strains. I would think maybe only use them on the 90 day haze type maybe?….
    Got any advice on that?

They will still work will the short autos you just won't have them fade out as much at the end, but they work great on the 90day strains

Of course plants can feel what u feel. So if u want good grows.... Stay happy n positive. Ive had couple bad grows in the past but at the time didn't know what i was doing wrong until i realized i was going through some intense emotional stress. I was sad n that caused my plants to grow poorly yeah they were sad too. Was doing everything correctly but my pants seemed like sad or something. If your happy, positive, n proud of your plants then they will grow a lot better. There's a lot of steps that goes into pulling amazing grows but its all easy steps just make sure u learn how to read your plants to avoid over or under feeding

Growing on the balcony. With summer outside it's hard not to overwater. Especially at an altitude of 2200 ft the UV radiation is so high that the leaves will hang within hours when not giving them water. Got fabric pots and still i feel i should go with less water. But how?
