I'm all about the terps baby! When I first retired out of the military I first started watching you guys and learn quite a bit, one of the most important things I learned is when growing indoors, you are basically playing God and have to simulate the entire grow season from outdoors to indoors, and that helped a lot, especially when it came to the end of the grow and you hade to simulate the Fall season. That brought those turps and the Fall color in the leaves out. This shit is awesome guys, thank for the help through your channel.
Scotty, did the Grow Dots, totally awesome product. I only got one female plant this year (8 males, 1 female), but thanks to the grow dots, she is an awesome looking plant full of fat kolas. Can't wait until harvest. Thanks for the advice about Grow Dots.
Been learning a lot and I came to the conclusion. Keep temperature and humidity in the range of 10° Degrees. Temps 55° to 65/70° F Humidity as low as 54% as High as 70% Max. That's the best way for me to look at it
It’s also scientifically proven that outdoor buds produce a wider variety of cannabinoids and terpenes. It also produces rare cannabinoids that you don’t usually see in indoor.
I keep my grow room at 72 degrees under led lights . I know it’s better to run warmer with led but I get fire at low temps. This video is gold . I’m going to try 68 for the last two weeks
I like to lower the intensity of the lights towards the end of the Cycle and even pull back a few mins on the light cycle maybe 11 and 1/2 on 12 and 1/2 off. Can even go to a 11-13 . And yes you might be losing some overall weight but sometimes to gain something you have to lose something in exchange. Water stress is another good way to bring out the smell again sacrificing some weight in exchange. But I would always go for quality over quantity. Also I Keep my hands off the flowers at all times and never touch them. I know it’s tempting to squeeze them and smell them but it’s really damaging and that goes for trimming too.
Great vid, this is how I grew up being told how this process works. However, Came across a vid about 6months or so ago from perfect gardens covering this and ever since ive had MUCH better terps. I used to do everything in this vid, and would have varying results and not know why. Come to find out, Its enzymatic breakdown of the terps into other compounds which is facilitated by water / warmth. Which makes sense, some of the most volatile terps start to vape off at 160's. I do everything I can to PUMP terps during the first 4-5 weeks of flower. The last few weeks I view as 'its made what its goanna make, now its conversion time' where enzymes convert CBGa into CBD and THC. Too hot, too wet, all the terps get chewed up leaving you with a hay smell. Too cold, too dry, youll have a nice terpy bud but it will seem 'weak'. 1 week dry, with faster dry on the 1st half, slower of the second. Sealed in a jar for another week to make sure moisture is even throughout and really matures the smell. 3 cycles in with the new method / understanding and its changed the game for me.
Thanks so much Scotty! One of your best vids yet! Answered all of my current questions and confirmed some of my experiments! Grow Dots and Recharge with some Stash Blend, temps 63 to 77f, go a long way in those Terps!
Hi Scotty. Great episode and right on time. You have been there for us, all the way, through our first grow. We just flipped to flower a few weeks ago. Recharge has been the answer for troubles. Girls are just starting to frost. WHAT?!? Do you remember your first grow? Tell us.
I’m on my second grow. I grew in a closet that had a small door connecting to the attic. when it was time to dry i cracked the door open to make it cooler. 5 plants dried in 10 days at 25% humidity and @45 degree temperature. I was worried it wouldn’t come out right. It turned out AMAZING!!!!! I live in ohio btw
75 lights on 72 lights off to preserve more terpenes from weeks 7 til finish for 9-10weekers..Consistent dry backs is major and defoliating to let more light in will help you on quality tremendously as removing such leaves can allow the plant to fully push its energy directly towards better bud development/maturity and also producing more trichomes. This pertains to LED. You need to put the light close to your canopy and lower your humidity. This will help with coloring. People often mistaken that coldness is the only factor to pull out color by turning down the temps super low. You are in fact slowing down its growth by dropping too low of temps. If your plants ain't drinking, it ain't growing. What don't see light won't turn purple and this is a proven fact unless it genetically naturally turns. If you missed the color window for your strain if its capable, you've already missed it. Even if you get some coloring late into it and you're almost ready to harvest.. by the time you dry, and trim it, that purple is gonna disappear or it'll be purple specd

Little trick an old school grower who showed me most of what I know with cannabis. We flip flower at 12/12 but around week w4-5 we fo 11/13 and we never lose any yield and if they take 74 days they usually done in 62-65 days It seems to work. Same with my late starts outside I’ll put out a 8” seedlings in 3 gallon late June and they grow so vigorously till early mid august and start to flower. They always finished up by oct 20th. @alfioplays7443 this works,i used snow and packed the top of my grow bag and turned the lights off to let it sit on there for a while seeemed to work because the stuff i harvested 2 days prior didnt taste nearly as good as the stuff that was on tbe plant for the snow bath lol
I heard about a product called Flav-uh or something like that, that you add at the end of harvest and it is supposed to really boost the terp production.
My best tips for producing high terp harvests: - organics! Specifically a good home made living organic soil with a full buffet of food in the soil for the plants and tons of micro life. The more diverse the micro life, the better for sure. Plants can express a much more full terpene profile in living organic soil. Even just using dry organic amendments in a store bought bagged soil (something like the roots organic uprising series) will produce better tasting and smelling plants than salt based nutrient in soil, at least for beginners. When growing organic, there’s no need to be perfect. You aren’t force feeding your plants what you think they need. You are feeding the soil microbes and then the plant tells the microbes what it wants/needs and the microbes provide it. It’s a symbiotic relationship. Also, if you are a fan of terpinator (I wouldn’t recommend it in an organic soil), just get yourself some potassium sulphate. That’s the “secret” ingredient in terpinator.

@ScottyReaI42O I'm liking it so far. Easy peasy, have a strain Salami leg thats loving the dots so far . I'm curious tho, say I notice she needs more food , I started her with the medium feedrate In a 3gal with promix hp. Just so u knew. But just wondering "if" I came into that situation what would be recommended (would I need to add a bloom fert if she's looking for more once in flower In otherwords? Appreciate any info u can share!!

Sounds very very on point geuss only thing left is watermelon flavoring lol cheers Scotty ... makes a guy wonder if 48 hours darkness was just the lack of heat from hps bulbs makeing it danker
LED grows like a little bit higher heat (80-85 F) and HID grows prefer cooler temps (75-79 F). Likely because HID bulbs kick out lots of intense UV rays over LED fixtures.
In 5 weeks of flower 1 out of three photo strains show a couple of amber terps on flower but around the rest of it is milky colored terps should I pull it out to dry?
I have definitely noticed stink in equals stink out so I go heavy on my fermentations like pumpkin alfalfa and a little Yahweh pair it up with good environmental conditions and I'll guarantee your neighbors will know somebody is growing something special
I watched an amazing video the other day on RUclips, I wish I could find it so I can mention the guys name. But he had an interesting theory on terps and when they evaporate. Based on what he says, the Temps have less to do with it based on the idea that boiling points for terps are way higher than we would ever get a tent and that it has more to do with consistency from the beginning which ensures the terps fully develop throughout the grow process. There was much more to it but interesting none the less. But it makes me wonder about the aspect of grow science vs. Bro science. Bruce Bugby the weed scientist doesn't have much on this topic either....kinda interesting.
Mineralised Phosphate.. Mineralised Phosphate brings out flavour in fruit & vegetables.. and a good pheno if the flavour is not there it's just not there.. 🙏😊
Is it possible we have ot all wrong? That the 3 types of tricomb heads. There are ones with stalk and ball ontop maybe that had THC only. And maybe 1 of the other 2 tricombs are causing the smell and flavor. And of this is true then we should have easier signs to look for while breading. Just a friendly side thought science is always evolving.
Hey Scottie got a question about real buckets fot them set up.but not sure gow long before water from res starts to flow its been about a week since I set it up.
the water will start to wick up as soon as there is water in the buckets, but when the plant is really small you may need to top water a few times till it can wick all the way up to the top.
Hey scotty, you said you only grow with grow dots so my question is the back of the bag is saying up to 6 weeks of veg and 10 weeks of flower, so if its times released, and your not vegging for 6 week, how does that affect the flower part? I talked 2 a friend and that was the only problem he mentioned was that being a time released product...soo do you veg that long? And if i only wanted to veg for 4 weeks how does that affect the plant? Or have you had no issues no matter how short or long you veg obviously not exceeding the time of 6 weeks
you want to flip to flower between week 4-6 with Grow Dots, so a 4 week veg will work fine with the dots. I often only veg mine for 4 weeks with great results.
Do dots come in an organic form? I'm reading russ Hudson's book now. My last boss at the cbd farm really got me curious about terpenoids and once you go down that route you start looking into other plants and the flavonoids and carotenoids. I'd like to become a processor but the only option so far in ohio schools are only for lab testing which I'm curious about as well but I feel like lab work would get boring after a while like a trimming position.
scotty I have a question regarding recharge. I like to use it mixed in with overripe fruit teas. By doing this i am hoping to multiply the beneficials. i let the mix ferment for 36hrs am i multiplying the bennies?
Recharge is not meant to live in water that long, some to the microbes will multiply while others will die off throwing off the microbial balance of Recharge. If you would like to us it with your teas to improve microbial diversity, you may find better results brewing your tea and then adding Recharge just before watering with it.
This is the only time of year that I can get a really decent cure. My summer cures never are as tasty but doesn't stop the buzz, just less pleasure to smoke.
I run my girls in early veg state 70 humidity-84 degrees late stage of veg drop it down to 60 humidity and 80 degrees and flower stage 50-55 humidity and temps 78 -75 degrees and that’s freedom units 🇺🇸😂🌱🌱☮️☮️ drying humidity 65-58 and as low as I can get the temperature to go between 60 and 70 degrees usually summer is closer to 70 and winter drying is closest to 60 let’s go DGC 🪴🪴🪴🪴☮️☮️🤘🏽🤘🏽
Some terpenes are water solubility, keep Temps down. But also organics over deep water culture due to that water solubility. More water = less terpenes... only some terpenes are water soluble
@ScottyReaI42O I like your work, use your recharge. Me I am organic guy I have done deep water culture like 2 runs and hated it, done coco for 4 years, but my home is organics and basically 20+ years of cannabis 33+ of organics. Grow both indoors and outdoors in ontario canada. I do a little bit of fermented plant juices, I also do a jadam microbal solution as well to mix it up when not using recharge, egg shell calcium.
When you trim freeze the rest then trigones save hot bottle hash . But then when you have a 1/4 put the small amount of hash in the jar😂the bud absorbs the trikes il bet mine is 35 0/0🎉
We will buy a bag of smoke that smells and tastes great over the one that has really high thc content every time, we love great tasting cannabis !! Idk lol
Ice cube baths are supposed to mimic winter snow/cold, supposed to make the plant think the growing season is overwith and its about to die, causing its defense mechanism to kick in to stay alive..
Terps, oils and waxes don't get me high and are a messy byproduct. Most are harsh and taste like crap. I like pressing flower to rosin to isolate to shatter diamonds. You can stop along the way and cure or add terps back if that trips your trigger.
Do you like Bubba Kush well the actual 98 Bubba Kush. If you had to buy some. What breeder would you use? I never ask this kinda stuff..It's like I'm looking for an old friend..lol..I have grown 2 different breeders and both sucked!! I literally make way better strains myself..lol..
I get my seeds from seeds here now, I have not had any Bubba Kush in a long time so i don't know much about what is currently on the market. Hopefully another commenter can help you out.
Cultivar is a better word to use but it is not as well know to new growers so we use strain. the definition of a strain that relates to plants is this: a breed, stock, or variety of an animal or plant developed by breeding.

One word Cannatrol! I always messed up my dry and cure but now I have perfect flower
The price tag on that is pretty steep for the average home grower, but they are nice units.
One word.... Broke .. we all don't have daddy's wallet to dip into
Outdoors from seed, the best by far. Full sun, great soil, clean water and perfect compost. Slow dry in the dark.

A little stress in flower (if the genetics are stable enough to take it) boosts terpenes as a defense mechanism
Interesting!
This is absolutely true. A simple stressor could be a severe dry back.
Letting them go dry and colder temps during the night is the stressors I have luck with.

Another thing to increase your terps is use short and long chain carbohydrates. I combine raw sweet and hi-brix.
dry backs and controlled stress as well as nitrogen leaching late in flower and cold drying preserving volatile terps.
I heard about a product called Flav-uh or something like that, that you add at the end of harvest and it is supposed to really boost the terp production.

But there is a very fine line with the humidity the last 10 days I don’t know if it’s right, but I do 60
15-16C
Great ep🤙🍻💨
Much appreciated
Boost with ur micros and chitin! Def a hidden aid
That sounds like Darius Sanders asking the questions 😂
Grow Dots only come in salt based.prills.
scotty I have a question regarding recharge.
@@ScottyReal420 Got it thanks. Is there a good way to multiply them ore am i reaching. THCanks, M
Huh, saying terps are gone when temps are higher than 70? Must be an indoor thing. What about flavorants? Heard terpnenes over 70 times
Vpd is how I judge my humidity and temp
Great show Scotty and Hi-C!! Growers love ❤️ DGC fuckin rocks!!!!🎉
Hell Yeah, Thanks!
Early bird thanks for the content 😶🌫️
Early bird gets the worm!
much love from CT
Much Love from CO
I would like to try Growdots in Germany. Is delivery to Europe also possible?
we are working on it currently and will let the Eu know more information as soon as we have it.
60/60 temp/hum
Low light intensity the last few days before harvest
This is the only time of year that I can get a really decent cure. My summer cures never are as tasty but doesn't stop the buzz, just less pleasure to smoke.
Summer it can be hard to get temps down in a drying area.
Low temp, low rh at end bloom ice water n str8 ice last week/gew days seems to bring em out
Does this apply to Autos aswell?
Or should i just use this advice on photos
I run my girls in early veg state 70 humidity-84 degrees late stage of veg drop it down to 60 humidity and 80 degrees and flower stage 50-55 humidity and temps 78 -75 degrees and that’s freedom units 🇺🇸😂🌱🌱☮️☮️ drying humidity 65-58 and as low as I can get the temperature to go between 60 and 70 degrees usually summer is closer to 70 and winter drying is closest to 60 let’s go DGC 🪴🪴🪴🪴☮️☮️🤘🏽🤘🏽
50-55% in late flower is too much…😅 for me at least
No trouble with mold ?
Im curious
Nice, Thanks for sharing!
@@reptileFRAGS mold doest grow in 55 humidity mold grows when it’s above 70
Humidity and below 60
Degrees at night hopefully that helps a little ☮️☮️
I have the same 50-60rh in flower ..got 4 fans + exhaust in a 3.3ft,3.3ft tent
No trouble with mould or rot.. I always used to dry at 60 65 humidity suffer mould in the largest flowers
3 simple letters for some of the best terps you've ever experienced, UVB
But then when you have a 1/4 put the small amount of hash in the jar😂the bud absorbs the trikes il bet mine is 35 0/0🎉
Have u used the grow dots?
Grow Dots is all I grow With!
@ScottyReal420 thanks brotha I see they have a few kinds wich do you use.. I'll give your method a shot
@@ScottyReal420 does it keep the ph stable...cam I throw away the ph pen if I use grow dots and recharge lol
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Terps bruh Terps 💯💚🤙🏻💨💨💨
We will buy a bag of smoke that smells and tastes great over the one that has really high thc content every time, we love great tasting cannabis !! Idk lol
I let them sit in the dark for atleast 24 hrs before harvesting so terps can rebuild from last day cycle
Interesting!
That phone number on the RUclips email legit? I would love to talk herbs sometime.
70f-21°C lights on or off?
On
Heard use ice cubes during flush makes the plant use more of its defense and produces more temps. Now if that's truth idk..... Yet.
Ice cube baths are supposed to mimic winter snow/cold, supposed to make the plant think the growing season is overwith and its about to die, causing its defense mechanism to kick in to stay alive..
sounds like plant torture 😂
@ScottyReal420 I've tried it once, I didn't really notice much, I might try again at end of this harvest which won't be for a while.
Winterfrost!!
High Phive8 🙌
It’s all environmental. Drop temp and humidity the last 2-3 weeks so it never gets above 72*.
Terps, oils and waxes don't get me high and are a messy byproduct. Most are harsh and taste like crap. I like pressing flower to rosin to isolate to shatter diamonds. You can stop along the way and cure or add terps back if that trips your trigger.
How does co2 play into all this?
When you add CO2 you need to run a warmer room so it can effect it a lot
@@ScottyReal420 In your experience, does the added co2 outweigh the cost of lost terps?
Drying…60/60 temp/ humidity
My rent was on 80 and all I could smell was one plant no wonder
Do you like Bubba Kush well the actual 98 Bubba Kush. If you had to buy some. What breeder would you use? I never ask this kinda stuff..It's like I'm looking for an old friend..lol..I have grown 2 different breeders and both sucked!! I literally make way better strains myself..lol..
I get my seeds from seeds here now, I have not had any Bubba Kush in a long time so i don't know much about what is currently on the market. Hopefully another commenter can help you out.
i like GreenPoint Seeds
@@truthonly7699 I love Greenpoint all the time. , but they don't have just a bubba Kush. Their bubbas are mixed with others.
Arent strains classified as diseases? We should be sayn cultivars
Cultivar is a better word to use but it is not as well know to new growers so we use strain. the definition of a strain that relates to plants is this:
a breed, stock, or variety of an animal or plant developed by breeding.
Cultivar is the correct word over "strain".
I DO THE WIENER PROPELLER FOR THE LADIES JUST… AND I MEAN JUST BEFORE THE CHOP AND OMG!!!
Hey, if it works for you. do your thing 😂
Can’t get it under 27 Celsius I’m bout to cry fuck spider farmer these things get so hot
Lol are you ready for my latest discovery❤
Terps, for the most part, are the stuff that might cause cancer .
do you have any articles on this? I am coming up with things like this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7409346/
You can only get the maximum out of the seeds you have 🤷♂️
