I’ve loved melin since I bought my first one in 2019 most comfortable hat I’ve ever owned tbh and now in 2021 I own 18 of the and I love them all to death. Keep up the great work on your videos and I love your review on all of the types of melin hats

Love the review man. Just a tip from an ex baseball player on forming your hat. Get a little steamer off of Amazon. Steam the brim while shaping it to your liking and you’ll never have a bad fit again.

With the price of New Era these days, Melin really isn't so bad. I just ordered my first hydro hat (in maroon) so I'm pretty excited. I have other hats from this company from about 5 years ago now and they still look fresh. All and all, it's a solid company. Great video man, cheers

I wish I would have watched this before ordering the A-Game Hydro. Just sent it back today because of the deeper fit and pencil head look. I'm going to try either the coronado or the odyssey. Thanks for the vid!

I have 3 of the Trenches Icon Hydro hats (my favorite being the Black Camo) but I do find the flat bill to be a little annoying as it will not hold a bend long at all…but for my slightly larger head the hat fits perfect.
I finally decided to order the A Game Hydro as this is their most popular hat…but after watching this video it looks like I should have ordered the Odyssey version.
I am looking to get a smaller hat for the gym hence why I am ordering the A game Hydro…all Trenches are for casual walk around and fishing.
Awesome review…I can always return the A game Hydro for an exchange for the Odyssey if the hat is too small.
Hey man, everyone's head is different so it may work for you. Worth a try! I have to say I like the way the Odyssey's look so much but my big block head just works better in the trenches. We can't choose the head we got haha. I really appreciate the comment and compliment, glad you enjoyed it!
Great review man. I’ve got the A game and trenches, both in XL. My head is pretty big, and I struggle to find hats that fit. These two fit great. I’m wondering whether you think the Coronado XL would fit a big head.

Hey Conor, thanks for watching man. Glad you enjoyed it! I would say that the Coronado is just a little more shallow than the A-game. If you plan to curve the brim it will fit great, if you want to keep it flat just know it is going to fit pretty high on your head, for sure. Hope that helps some.

Amazing review !! Really appreciate your insight ! Curious what size fitted hat would you buy or what size your head is? Seems as if the hats are made specifically for whatever size your head is. Considering you don't have to adjust the back at all... please and thanks !

Looking to get a few more of these hats myself. I have the Trenches Hydro and have had that for a couple of years now. I liked to wear it camping. I wear a 7-5/8 hat in New Era so my head is on the larger side. I got the XL version of my hat just to ensure more room. I love the look of the Odyssey Stacked Hydro but it worries me about the size. Did you get the normal size? I know it is more shallow than the Trenches but I still have some hope I will like it ha.
I have gotten both a classic and XL Odyssey Stacked. Its def. a tighter/shallower fit than the trenches as you'd expect. For me personally, the XL didn't particularly solve that, it just put more air space between my head and the top of the hat in the front. Your head sounds a little bigger than mine, so it may be a better option for you. I pretty much just wear trenches most everyday because its the most comfortable for me. I'd give the XL a try!
Great review on the melin hats...👍..I'm completely opposite on the fit preference the only hat I liked was the .A game hydro ..the brick and stacked looked like a bumphead fish .they are sum quality hats though.

In the UK we pay £59 (approx $76!) for these hats. Bought the Trenches last year and love it, but looks a tad big on my head and I’m not the biggest fan of a flat bill. I’ve just ordered an Odyssey brick hydro which will hopefully fit a bit better. Hard to get the full range of styles and sizes in the UK.
Good gracious, that is pricey for sure! I def. understand the feeling on size. When I was a few pounds lighter than I am now I felt the same but it fits my slightly larger shape right now hahah. I'm thinking the Odyssey will be just right for you! Hope you enjoy it. Thanks man
Did you ever have to stretch the headband to make it fit better? I love my Melin hats and I've had a couple but one setting is slightly loose and the next is a little snug. I'd love it to be more fitted and somehow stretch it. Any suggestions?
I find with mine I def. have to wear them in a bit. Once I sweat in them and even just dunk them in water and wear them, they seem to loosen up a tad. Def. not a ton but it seems to help. I get it being between two spots on the clasp. I'd get that thing soaked and wear it in and see if that helps. Thanks for checking the video out!
Hoping you see this and might be able to help. In new era hats I’m 7 5/8 to 7 3/4 and I have a melin Coronado in an xl as the classic size coronados don’t fit my head right in the back where the netting part is. The xl fits great didn’t even have to adjust the snaps. My question is in regards to the fit of trenches style. If I get an xl in the trenches hat do you think it might be too big, too deep? Since it is a deeper fit and I’m right in between sizes according to Melins guide I’m not sure.
I realize you’re not an expert on melin hats lol just hoping you might have some advice!
Hey man, all good!! Thanks for checking oht the video. If you are truly a 7 5/8s or bigger in New Era I would have to guess the XL would be the way to go even for the Trenches. It may be slightly deeper but I think that’ll be right. I love the dern trenches so much man I have way too many of them but dang they fit so freaking good!!! Hope that helps and if not man you can always exchange. Have a good one!!!
Just got an Odissey hat from them and noticed the same thing you had… it just sits in top of my head. Did it really broke in so it feels better with time? I saw you wear it for running… does it tend to pop off your head while doing it or now that it’s broken in it stays?

It did break it quite a bit but for my big ole head it still feels a bit small. The trenches has really become my go to. I love the way the odyssey looks so much but for me, trenches is the best fit with the brim curved!
Nordstrom rack just dropped these Melin hats for 30 bucks! had to buy 2 styles right off the bat. yeeeee!

I usually wear Yupoong snapbacks with the rear closure halfway closed.
I’d definitely go XL. Mine is 58 and I tried an XL but it was a bit big. Wearable but big. I’d think it’d be perfect for you.

I’m about the same size man. The difference in those two hats is moreso in the depth. The Trenches fits me a lot better. I’m somewhere between a 7 3/8 and a 7 1/2. Hope that helps

Hi, is the top and back of the hat rigid at all? I mainly wear trucker mesh hats because the mesh will keep its shape instead of conforming to my head shape. The top and back of my head is not very round, so the top and back will sink down if not rigid enough to hold its own shape. I already feel like the answer is no, and the back will definitely fall down if the back top of my head isn’t round or tall enough but wanted to double check. Thanks !
Hey, thanks for checking it out! I understand exactly what you are saying in reference to the trucker hat mesh. Those hats are def. stiff in the back when you get them. I would say the Melin hat's rear section is a bit more "malleable" than the trucker mesh but I don't know that its so flexible that it'd fall down and not keep its shape. I'm wearing mine right now and if I lift it up on my head it stays the same until I go pushing it down. I hope that helps some. I think the best answer is that yes, a trucker hat is more stiff, but I don't think I'd let that deter me from trying one of the Melin hats.

Thank you! That was a concern for me too, man. It wont stay super curved but how the bill is curved in the video thumbnail is how it sits on my head right now. I have narrowed down to the Trenches and wear it every single day. Love this hat man. I would say the curve is right in the middle of flat and the curve of the Brick Hydro. Hope that helps.

I have thought the same thing..that's what I like about the Trenches.
A similar hat is made by FIN hats. It's only $45. They have many color combinations. I like that they have different weights or thickness. The lighter or thinner is nice for Summer. Anyways just another cool hat. Check out the website. I own one Melin hat too. Hey, I have different guitars too! Ha Ha!

I like the quality, but they don't have the kind of hats I like when it comes to size. The front is just to big. I like it when the hat hugs the head a bit more
Hey man, I will agree in some of the models the front definitely has a good amount of space. If found the trenches is the best for me in that regard after a long time of wearing it but it does take some serious time to get it to not be so stiff. @@TheChapMX I bought my favorit hat from grunt wear during 2020 Grunt Style Rifle Flag Mesh Hat (Black, One Size).. Fit perfectly. There is another hat I purchased Grunt Style Ammo Flag Mesh Hat (Military Green, One Size). these hats run great out of the box. Though they no longer sell the Grunt Style Rifle Flag Mesh Hat (Black, One Size) :( So now I am on the hunt for something like it.

@@Inf7cted I hear ya man, ain’t nothing like a good fitting hat! If you like those you might check out Freedom Industries. I got a hat from them a few years back and fell in love with it. Great fit! Didn’t hold up quite as well as my Melin but it was a great hat. Maybe check those out!
