Richie was right about New Era 5950 hats being somewhat inconsistent in sizing. I think this is just due to the manufacturing process, as it's always been that way. But what he's wrong about, and which directly contradicts his first point, is that he says the FoG hats are 'always big' - they're not any different than a normal 5950, because they're literally just a normal 5950.
i only wear 5950 and can confirm each are different, im a 7 5/8 but i got some really snug and some really loose, some also have more of the actual hat n comes down to my ears and some only comes down half way to my ears
@@jesserosales8712 ive even had some go further down on one side than the other lol. New era needa fix these lil flaws in their production its mad annoying and probably stems from rushing their products out/not placing enough importance on accurate details and quality of each hat. Different NE hats made in different places, messes with the sizing. Look at your tags of the hats that fit correctly, and only buy hats from the country that fits.
As someone with a very extensive 59fifty collection, I can appreciate some of these rules but at the end of the day, wear your hat how you want. I’ve seen guys purposely make a boxy brim because that’s what they want. Do I like that? Not at all, but who am I to tell them they’re wrong? I collect fitteds but I wear every fitted I’ve ever bought. I keep the bill pretty straight with maybe a slight arch, and I turn the hat slightly to my left. Why? Who knows. I went to an Astros game this past week with my McCann Braves jersey on, and an Oakland A’s hat on. I got called out and stares, but I was comfy.
It's always been fitted or die but as I've gotten older I've come to like snapbacks, they got different designs that aren't really on fitted hats, just bought my first off hat club and it's dope!
I like the actual vintage snapbacks and trucker hats from the 80s and 90s. I like the more “boxy” crown on hats. I don’t like rounded crown hats like 59fitteds, 5 panel hats, and dad hats.
Most fitteds are inconsistent in size since they’re mass produced, I wear a 7 3/8 new era 59/50 fitted. They’re never the same fit so it’s best to try it on if u can before you buy. I bought 2 hats from Compound in 7 3/8. One is definitely tighter than the other even if it’s the same size listed. The hats today are either 80% polyester/20%wool. Some can be 90/10. These 2 will shrink a little bit. But if it’s 100% poly, then forget it. That will definitely not shrink. Just passing on some knowledge I learned from experience.
Most people wont really care but you will run into a few people who feel a type of way about what team you wear . How ever there could be some gang affiliated caps but unless you travel through a rough neighborhood on a daily i dont really see too much of a problem i guess just keep that in mind when you wear baseball caps around the states
Facts some hats you definitely can’t wear in certain areas especially out in LA but I think at the end of the day it all comes down to how you carry yourself as a person
Fitted hats are tricky when it comes to sizing. It’s either too big or you can get a size that looks good on your head but it’s feel too tight. But who cares about comfort as long as it looks good😂
As a person who wears a size 6 7/8 I can tell you irregardless of the size the crown stays the same height. That makes a smaller size like mine look twice as high as a size 7.5- 8 which is why I will occasionally tuck the top of my gears into my hat so it doesn’t stick so high off my head. If they would adjust the height to the size this wouldn’t be an issue for so many of us.
I used to “break” the brim of my hats, but now I use Johnny’s technique with a water bottle in the middle of the brim (make sure the brim hugs the bottle while you’re bending it) and it works great 👌🏼
That’s way too much work use the crease line right between your fingers and palms to grip the brim, then fold your fingers bending the brim till both your knuckles are touching each other. Continue bending till your desired curve
Woo boy! I needed this so bad. I've had a flat brim fitted hat for so long and sometimes it looks good and other times it looks goofy as fuck. I never wanted to bend it hard for the reason they said, it could break, so mine has alwaga been a flat brim with a slight curve. I just did their curve method, absolute game changer, the hat even fits better
#9. Never try to clean or rub off junk from your hat with your hand. You'll get skin particles into the fabric and it'll look nasty. Dry-rubbing your shirt sleeve or any cotton fabric over the hat will work much, much better.
I remember my 1st fitted cap. I called it a "Pro Cap" growing up in the 90s cuz that's what the pros wore. SF Giants 6 5/8ths and was still big lol dad had to search far and wide for that size. Now u can get any size anywhere.
Man I had a Dodgers fitted hat that fit me perfectly but like y’all mentioned in the video after a few wears and started feeling really snug at times. Started going up a size of my hats since lol
I thought I was crazy. When I got my fitted fog it fit perfectly but after a while it’s started to fit tighter I thought my head was getting bigger. Now I know rich.
I wear fitted hats always. But I bought the Nike classic 99 lid and it seems to be a nice hybrid between a fitted and snap back. Great shape and adjustable velcro
I got the same head and hair as Johnny. I go into the office with the on the fly ball cap by lululemon with my dress clothes and it still looks very formal. Highly recommend it for a more premium and grown look.
Great video especially since I rock hats a lot. The tips and advice y’all had to give were interesting and I’ll definitely be taking them into consideration.
I found the best way to curve a brim is to use a metal tumbler (stanley, igloo, artc cup) a Velcro strap (cable management strap) and some water. Curve the bill around the cup and strap it tight. Wet your hand and tap the top of the bill until it is wet, but not dripping. If the bill has darkened compared to the rest of the hat it's enough. Let it dry over night. Once dry do your stain resistance etc. If you want less of a curve you can in end it a little, but the curve will relax as you wear it. If you need to curve utagain, repeat the process. Works every time and you don't have to stress over breaking the bill
Good video! By the way, the brims in any modern hat is plastic(hence the cracking). Cardboard brims were phased out in the late 80’s and did not last as long as the plastic brims.
Idk what they're talking about when they say fitteds shrink. Maybe if you try to machine was them or something. I've been wearing fitteds for probably 15 years now and I make sure to err on the smaller side because they always stretch. I bought a 7 1/2 for my first hat and after a week the brim was down over my eyebrows.
Does curving the brim of the hat help with the shade? I don't' understand this part. You'd think if it wasn't curved at all, it'd be the most effective at providing the shade in your eyes.
I’m from Brooklyn NY. The fitted hat I wear the most is my blue NY yankee hat. I recently moved to LA and like a week later I got pressed by a group of people because of my hat. 😂 I still wear it, it’s my favorites hat 🤷♂️😂

It all depends on the material of the hat. If it’s polyester it’s not gonna shrink a lot. I recommend getting 7 3/8 and if it’s a little tight bend the brim or get a hat stretcher :))
Thanks for teaching me about the bending. My fear of god hat looked kinda bogus lol. One side was more bent than the other. I knew the fitted hats were coming back. My cousin tried to crack a joke and said I’m rocking a fitted hat like it’s 2005 lol
Fitted hats have been my favorite since i first put one on in the early 90’s. That turned snap back hats into ‘swspmeet hats’ for me. There are two snap backs i like, 80’s nba championship hats and one custom i had made. My preference is not everyone’s but fitted conceals my greying hair. Thats become a more recent reason
it find it awesome that I was watching the "how to bend your brim" video just last night. I'm waking up to my hat being bent at the perfect size. *mind exploding*
im trying to get into streetwear or "hypebeast" fashion. I have got a couple hoodies, shirts and shoes. I want to get into hats and i got a fitted hat the other day and i took the 59fifty sticker off just because i thought that was fine. My friend said i shouldve kept it on, does it matter? because i still have the sticker and just want to know if it is better to keep the sticker on or off. plz lmk
Great pairs of shoes like AF1s and J1s with a good amount of pants/joggers, various shirts/jerseys/jackets even hoodies and fitted/snapbacks go a long way with tons of outfits. I recommend getting colors that fit your wardrobe the most. If got a lot of red clothing then get a Red hat it could be a NFL team logo or something to show your Interests and gives the outfit more. At the end, spice it how u see fit 🤙.
the only rule i don't agree with if the finger rule, I think that if you can fit your index finger in there that's the perfect fit, especially if you have different hair styles.

Great content! Some people pay no attention to the small details in a fit and they could have such an impact
Why when I want to wear a cap my head hurt bro? I feel pain in that nerve when we have while eating in the head by the temples...
I don’t even wear hats I just watch every video by him 😭
No one made a SnapBack look as good as Eazy E did.
yankee hat culture is pretty universal, so if youre ever in doubt, just wear that. people all over the world have that hat
True, but if u come from a red sox or mets fan family, thats not an option lmao
I bought this hat and the logo looks really fresh but I'm not digging the high-profile crown. is there any way to rock highs better
it find it awesome that I was watching the "how to bend your brim" video just last night. I'm waking up to my hat being bent at the perfect size. *mind exploding*
So glad I live in a part of the world where I can rock any hat I want, whenever and wherever...
Hat wearing is never this serious
right
If you can’t rock hats it’s okay
In LA it kinda is
Lmfaoo fr man 😂 dude made a whole video about it
It really is tho
im trying to get into streetwear or "hypebeast" fashion. I have got a couple hoodies, shirts and shoes. I want to get into hats and i got a fitted hat the other day and i took the 59fifty sticker off just because i thought that was fine. My friend said i shouldve kept it on, does it matter? because i still have the sticker and just want to know if it is better to keep the sticker on or off. plz lmk
47 Clean up for me is the best dad cap.
Great vid...gotta love the editing effects
Love this video Le, im rocking MLB fit-in everyday. Simple lock but still fresh
*look
Snap backs for life 🙌🏽
I wear my fitted hats backwards without bending it, it stays straight idc what anyone says that’s how I like it
In some areas of the country, a hat has a brim all the way around, and a cap has a bill in the front.
I had a coach one day tell a kid...” there are two kind of people that wear their hats backwards....catchers and assholes, and you aren’t a catcher!”
He was racist and secretive about it :)
Johnny needs to do a bald guys fashion/losing your hair tip videos
the only rule i don't agree with if the finger rule, I think that if you can fit your index finger in there that's the perfect fit, especially if you have different hair styles.
