Back in the 90's as a teen when we all had Starter jackets and hats I was the master curve artist. I did mine and all my friends hats by hand. No tools necessary.

It’s actually a way to get that old 90’s curve look that really puts more curve to the edges and keep the middle brim more straight. But I’d have to show in person how to do that.

I’m from cali but I used to live in VA and wild visit NY all the time and eventually had a OG in a hat shop that showed me the true method to get that outer curve with the middle being lightly curved. Trust…it makes a big difference comfort wise as well because our skulls aren’t evenly round. It’s essentially your hand method but you curve your fingers only inward and push your thumbs down on the middle to keep the middle straight. Try it out. You’ll see and feel the difference once u put it on and you’ll never go back.

Try the 3930! New Era's Stretch fit. The brim is already curved and perfectly functional. By that I mean it works to keep the sun out of your eyes. I get annoyed when people wear flat because you cannot see fly balls that way.
I learned to re-curve 5950s a while ago and I'm real glad that I don't have to anymore since they came out.
3930 also can be worn forward or backward, but when you go back it will leave marks in your forehead a bit.
It's also not wool so it doesn't shrink when you pop it in the washing machine or diswasher. Wool smelled and held crazy sweat marks.
And purple dye got on my face from sweating in 59's in the outfield in HS.
Like a middle infielder wearing a glove with a solid web (Derek Jeter and no other SS since at least 5 years before him), way to show everyone that knows what they're talkin' about that you don't.
I've buy a Cubs or White Sox hat every year (have mortgage, kid, broke) and I prefer the 39

Dang. Im not that old but this made me feel old. Used to do both these methods as a kid. Didnt use a steamer though but that helps the process go quicker. Could also go no-budget method and "steam" it over boiling water on the stove. We'd also use just a regular rubber band stretched over a curved brim, tighter the rubber band the tighter the curve. We would sometimes curve the brim around a baseball and then wrap the rubber band around the whole thing. lots of good methods out there! You covered these well.

No need for a steamer. I've been bending my own brims since before I was in tee-ball. Whether pure wool, polyester, cotton, nylon or a blend of some they all fold and curve essentially the same. If you want to curve it symmetrically without having to even double-check it just flip the cap upside down like a bowl. Then with one hand gripping under the brim, and with your thumb at one side and other fingers at the opposite corners of the brim where it meet the cap, squeeze the corners of the brim together. Kind of making the brim like a hard taco shell 🌮. Line up the edges and bring the rest of the brim edges together.
Perfect curve every time. You can do it with your eyes closed once you know the feel of it.

All you have to do is follow the lines on the back of brim, stay in the middle of those lines and you will get the perfect curve

Overkill bro. Before you go to bed, use a rubberband around the brim (a thick one like you find around a bunch of asparagus at the grocery store), and wrap from corner to brim peak to opposite corner, and you'll wake up to a perfectly curved brim.

Yes!!! Thank you!! curve your hats yo! Lol i played baseball when i was young. Not so much as i got older but my grandpa would get on to me if my hat wasnt curved. He would get a rubberband and wrap it around my hat and it would make a perfect curved brim all the time. Im going to try to steamer way tho, looks fire homie. Great video.
And guys for the love of God Curve your Brims!! lol

It's funny cuz, your SF hat brim is tweeked out on the left side... And, the steamer, then using rubber bands will allow you to set the curve to what you like.
