Guys, just wear what you like! It doesn't matter to follow some "fashion". If you like your stetson, flat cap or whatever...just enjoy what you like! Oh, and cowboys didn't wear cowboy hats in the old west. They wore derbys and dusters!

Her videos always attract so much hate lol. Many men just take it as a personal attack on them, when in reality it's literally a fashion channel. Obviously you can wear whatever you want... bizarre.
Cowboy hats were very much around. They just don’t resemble the modern style known as the “cattleman.”
Wear what you like 🥳
Totally!

I’m from and live in Texas. I wear my cowboy everywhere. Not only at ranches.
She has no clue why we even wear hats. It's like us telling her what hair style to wear. Wear the hat you want.
The cowboy hat advice may hold true for the rest of the country, but here in Texas its as much a part of us say an arm or a leg. 😊
I wear cowboy hat everywhere when I’m not working - wife hates it .. sorry, I’m a NJ redneck
Louisiana as well
No sir, no! Try a Panama hat instead and you will def change your mind and feel fabulous!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Statesville NC a little town kinda near Charlotte, lots of guys here wear their cowboy hats and some get decked out with boots and belt and shirt
I live in a mid-size city in the midwest but I've been known to wear a cowboy hat periodically for years like if I'm out working in the garden on a hot day or if it's a scorching hot summer day and I want to go for a walk I will wear my cowboy hat because they work far better than a baseball cap as far as keeping your head cool and shaded

Flat cap and cowboy hat supremacy ❤❤❤❤🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇺🇲🇺🇲
Note to self: Wear everything this person says you shouldn't, and you're stylin'!
Thank you for your women's point of view. Since I don't have a wife or girlfriend, it at least saves me from embarrassment around my sisters and cousins.
A couple years ago I discovered that I can pull off a Panama hat or even a flat cap. Initially it was just for fun. What I like in retrospect though is the fact that it forces you to think about the outfit a bit more unlike the baseball cap. It was a step outside of my comfort zone but now I'm totally used to it. The key is to look nonchalant otherwise it will look like a costume.
Here in Texas - a cowboy hat is a sharp look for almost any occasion - especially when paired with some boots, jeans, and a button up shirt of any sort
OMG! You wear boots when you are not riding a horse?? 😂😂😂😂😂

Never, ever leave my front door without a hat on my dome. Regardless of the time of year & or the price of tea in China. And so while I have dared to rock many brands & styles, my most tried & true favourite of them all has & will forever be the classic, yet very understated *Kangol Washed Baseball Cap* with the leather strap(back). And while it does take awhile for it to ‘mold’ to the shape/size of ones head, I can say without any hesitation that both said brand & style is the most sturdy & comfortable hat I have ever worn. *Period!!!*
Wear what you feel comfortable with. A man may look good with certain clothes and accessories (OK for photo sessions), but if he’s not comfortable wearing them, it shows as he moves around.
I have a Panama hat and love it. I agree the Panama hat will look good with a linen or cuban shirt and they will look good with shorts. Secondly, the Panama will look better when the colour can match parts of your outfit. Hopefully the world is not coming to an end, as I don't believe I am agreeing with Ashley. Well she is a professional.
If it's so rare that you agree with Ashley, why are you even watching her channel?
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou The stuff I disagree with her on stands out to me. I rarly agree with her totally like the Panama hat. However I listen for styling tip to see if I agree.
Where do you get your panama hats from?
@@brads8350 From Reiss! Reiss is a stylish shop.
My first time watching her and I must say, I agree with all of her reviews she did here on the different hats.
I wear a black leather cowboy hat with a bolo rope around the crown. It was my father's. I wear it when I'm camping, fishing, or doing yard work.
Flat Cap during the summer: They also make them in 'Linen' rather than 'Wool' so they can be worn by PGA Golfers during summer tournaments. Variation: Greek Fisherman's Cap worn by George RR Martin (Game of Thrones author), also by The Beatles on the cover of HELP, Soviet Union founder Vladimir Lenin, as well as British Labor leader Jeremy Corbin.
So your thumbs down on the cowboy hat but thumbs up on the panama hat which is nearly identically to a cowboy hat and basically intended for the same purpose
Flat Caps and newsboy caps go just fine with jeans and a T-shirt. They offer a touch more dignity than a ball cap in almost every instance and are incredibly versatile as they can also be worn with more formal attire. I wear them all year long, favoring cotton versions in the warmer months. This has left my ball caps hanging on the hook.
Arrived here thinking "I dont care what you say, or what any woman says other than my wife" and the video was better than I thought it would be. Appreciate your opinion on the summer Panama hat as I too am thinking about getting one for a summer wedding this year.
I agree no wool flat caps during the summer, but there are very light weight linen and thin cotton ones that look good and shade the head.
great timing, i was just about to ask about this.
You should address why wearing a ball cap backwards is a ridiculous look especially for older guys.
Keep in mind most people don't dress to impress others they dress how they feel because that's what makes them feel best
If the sun is behind me, then yeah I'm gonna protect my neck. Same with bucket hats, if I'm out hiking or outside all day when it's sunny, I'm probably wearing one but I'm sure that's not the scope of this video.
Ecaxtly Chez
Protecting the neck is the second job for the cap. You are supposed to turn it around if the sun is behind you. Of course if you want to look like a redneck then go ahead.
… then don’t turn it 🙄
She needs to give her advice at a Tejano Conjunto Festival in San Antonio, TX, both men and women wear cowboy hats and see what happens and will get told off HA!
Just a friendly reminder that a Panama Hat can only be called a Panama Hat if woven in Ecuador.
Ironic because that's not Panama
@@curtismahon9948 Look up the origins online.
Who made that rule? It’s one I won’t follow.
I will say that a flat cap made of linen and a in a light color actually seems to keep me cooler in the summer than a baseball cap. I also feel like it works a bit better with a Business Casual outfit than a baseball cap does from a formality perspective. Would love to wear a Panama hat or a straw fedora in the summer, but the wind where I work kept trying to carry those hats off.
Yep. Same here. I have tweed/wool flat caps for winter and linen ones for summer.
I almost exclusively wear flat caps except for the winter when I usually wear beanies. Baseball caps are a thing of my past now.
waxed cotton works good for the spring/fall when there is rain but not cold enough to wear wool
Hi, Ashley! I've seen some flat caps made of cotton. Well at least in my neck of the woods. The Washington, DC area of Virginia.
@1:16 cowboy hats can also be worn at Mexican bailes 😉, that's a great occasion to wear them
Flat capper here, currently aged 34. Besides being asked if I’m feeling “peaky” today - most guys and gals like it on me. Short brimmed and linen. Hides the bald spot haha
What would you wear with a peacoat besides a beanie ?I dont look good in stretchy knit hats. I need something more structured.
A flat cap or newsboy cap work with a pea coat.
@@crosisofborg5524 AGREE
As a proper gentleman the only time I’d put a beanie on is when I’m doing outdoor activities in temperatures below 40. Otherwise it’s a gauche head accessory better left to the unwashed.
light colored, linen flat caps work good for the summer. Baseball caps are too casual and Panama hats too dressy. The flat caps are a middle term
Panama';s can go nice with causal wear. I wear mine along with casual, non-dressy clothes and it still goes along well.
Beanie? I always thought that it was a small skull cap, sometimes with a propeller. Here in the Great White North, we call it a toque, with or without a pom-pom.
I love the flat caps from Hannah Hats.
Hanna of Donegal, best flat caps!
Every time I watch one of your videos it costs me money 🤣
My favourite hats - beanie for winter, trilby for summer and plain baseball cap all year round 😎
I wear a peacock hat. It's literally 5 feet with 568 plumes from an actual peacock. Someone once told me to stand out as surmised by Albert Einstein in something he theorized dubbed the "peacock theory". So far it has done really well with sparking conversations. Would highly recommend.
The Game
The whole mix up with flat caps and Peaky Blinders has gone off the rails. I remember seeing Irish, Italians and Jewish people in St. Paul wear flat caps year round and was a signature of theirs, like those in New York or Boston. I seen it as a carried down style from the older generation.
Any suggestions for beach vacation warm and humid I usually where a dri fit cap Nike but really doesn’t protect against the sun so looking for a bucket style hat but I am older so I guess that’s not the way to go.
Yeah ill wear my cowboy hat and boots just about everywhere but im not a Hollywood cowboy like Kevin 😂
Thankfully you left out Berets! I burn in the sun so hats that are light on top (white) reflect the sun and heat. Black on the bottom hat rim absorbs the suns rays so they don't reflect back into your face. Of course I did wear a helmet for my work environment in the DOD!
Can you do a video about smart clothing, something like David Gandy style?
Thanks
Great video! Thank you Ashley!
a lot of times wearing a hat is just to cover baldness, or a bad hair day.
Trucker cap is pretty versatile I love it especially in summer 👍🏼
May I challenge you in Panama hats? My experience with genuine Panama hats especially those made in Ecuador is that they travel very well and pop back easily after being rolled up.
That was confusing for me too.
Hello. I believe that when it comes to "cowboy" hats, occasion plays little importance. I have worn one in the dusty sands of texas to true southern weddings. I admit that not all colors and shapes will work everywhere. Though i will say there is a hat for every thought.
Sorry for the rant.
Trilby! No baseball caps, proper men's hats for men!
A trilby makes you look like a goofball in many places.
They make lighter weight material baker boy/newsboy/ivy cap/flat caps. I live in CA and wear them all the time. They can also be more casual and sporty and I even wear one to the gym.
Wear what you like.
And berets? Whether they fit closely, as they do in the Basque county or Spain, or fit loosely, as they do in Argentina, they can look great--but you're not seeing them where you are?
I’ve got a Panamar hat in a cream colour but I find that when I swear I get a wet patch which is very noticeable on those hotter days

I see a lot of guides and such for plus size guys but I rarely ever see any for people on the opposite end. I’m 5’9 weigh 140 pounds a guide for skinny guy wear would be a great next topic.
Skinny guy practically can wear anything even can get some good stuffs from woman section... And get any big discount since all the small sizes left to buy...
Small guys have the world of clothes to pick from. If you are skinny and can’t look good then hire somebody fast.
I like hats. Climate and milieu are important though. A flat cap is great when you don't know whether you'll get rain or not. You can stuff it into your pocket until you need it, then put it on when the rain starts. Conversely, a panama hat is great if you know the weather will be dry and bright, but useless when it's wet and pointless when it's cloudy. Where I live, there might be 10-20 days a year when it would be fun to wear one. A trilby or fedora is smart and keeps the rain off but is much less convenient that a flat cap. It says 'I am expecting heavy rain or want to demonstrate my personality'. Meanwhile, baseball hats just say 'I am an American, or wish I was, or think I'm a rapper'. Bowler hats have a badass history, but I've never seen one in the wild ;)
can you drop the name of the first picture bucket hat
I wear flat caps of different materials for different seasons. Baseball caps for outdoor activities like hiking, and a Tilley hat for maximum sun protection. Great video.
Western hats aren’t just for cowboys working in the field. Sorry sweetheart, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. It just takes confidence to wear a western hat. They’re very utilitarian since they can protect from the sun, rain, snow and even cold weather.
So that's a no on the trucker style caps? Damn. I love them in the summer.
Then wear it. Nothing wrong with a trucker cap.
No hyperlinked list of your favorites? 😞
What about the PorkPie hat seen frequently at the Jazz and Blues Clubs. I’m African American from the south side of Chicago and hats are integral to living and having fun in the city. A good Pork Pie or Fedora is essential since my high school days.
I enjoyed this video and I learnt a few things. Whenever I wear a hat it makes a mess of my hair style.

I think it's hilarious an old country bumpkin like me has every style hat listed here. My favorite daily wear hats are baseball or trucker hats. I have several Stetsons including a leather baseball cap for winter wear. Fedoras and cowboy hats are also good depending on the weather. Nothing beats a fedora and a trench coat on a cold rainy day. I have an excellent Panama hat for fancy summer picnics and very broadbrim straw hats for fishing or gardening. In general I don't see people dressing appropriately for the weather or social situations any more. My parents came from humble beginnings and grateful they taught me to take pride in how I dressed.
As cool as hats could look, i personally never wore them
Which brand do you recommend for Panama hats? Where can I get them?
Awesome video
I'll wear a trucker hat if I want!
Where did YOU get THAT DRESS????🤮
I love hats. The older generations used hats a lot. I only wear a baseball hat doing sport. When working in the hot Sun as a gardener I usually wear a panama hat. Women seem to like it btw. if I'm doing heavy groundwork or tree pruning and climbing I use a kind of turban head scarf usually improvised by using a second tee shirt It's a great protection from heat thorns scratches and bumps. In winter mornings a black beanie and donkey jacket is essential. And as I'm irish I have my old treasured tweed flat cap which I only wear in winter, or when I want to show my Irishness. I wear it with my traditional Clothes for family occasions. I Have to admit the trilby looks smart classy but with character but a bit too formal for me as I don't like to wear suits. Hats are practical but can seem silly or pretentious when worn out of context .
I sunburn easy so I only like the legionnaire hats. No mention of those in the vid
I wear bucket hat to protect my face from the sun
Borsalino makes beautiful hats !!
Have to find my Mankini 😂😅
What about a "derby"? The only hat I can wear that doesn't give me "hat hair" is a ball cap that doesn't crush down my hair.
just an observation, there are news paper boy hats on linem or cotton.
Thanks!
¿ How about the 'Castro' style military hat ? If you know how to mold them and size them, I think they are unbeatable; at least for a more narrow face like mine. I've actually gotten compliments for them, because of how I've fitted them to my face and how unique they look (Virtually don't see anyone wearing them; and in my opinion, I think it's a good thing).
i need advice to address face shape for headware =/
What about the ubiquitous Tilley Hat. Always good for an adventure.
I disagree with flat cap...baker boy cap comment. They are also sold in mesh and are very lightweight.

Never liked baseball caps. Flat caps , fedoras and straw hats are my choices, especially in summer. A good sisal straw hat with an extra wide rim is perfect in the hot sun.
